A short 2 hour ride and we are on the water in this really nice resort. 10th floor view really can't be beat. Spacious with floor to ceiling windows and an awesome patio. Everything you need is here including a really nice restaurant for the times you don't want to cook but the kitchen is a full one with everything you need. Also had bbq grills out back. It is by itself and only one picnic table. Direct tv and WiFi were awesome. TVs in both rooms. Easy checkin and access to everything. We will be back!! read more

We stayed two nights here and the views are absolutely amazing from the 7th floor. It's directly in front of the north entrance of Lovers key state park and about a two minute drive from the south entrance. Flippers, a restaurant on the water is located right next to it, so it's super convenient to get some food but they close at 10pm, FYI. The reason why I am giving a three stars is because of the following: * Upon arrival at around 7pm on a Saturday there was no one at the check in desk. Only a sign that they would be right back. It took them at least 10 minutes to return. This is unacceptable. Never in my entire life had I waited this long to check in to a hotel * after waiting 10 minutes, the person who helped was also unaware of my payment situation. I told her I had already been charged half of my stay, she was clueless to what was going on and had to call Someone who guided her through the entire step, which meant another 15 minutes of me waiting. * only one elevator was working. It's high season still and the place was filled with guests. One elevator for 12 floors is terrible. We had to wait so long and because we were on the 7th floor and had kids with us, going up and down the stairs was out of the question. * a/c in the room was SO loud, it woke me up several times at night. * only TWO spoons available in the room. * floor paint in lanai is peeling off. Why is this room not closed for Renovation??? * smoke detector alarm makes a subtle yet annoying beeping noise. read more

Rooms are nice, pool great. However not the place to book if you want running water. No warning when we arrived got to the room no water, sinks, shower or toilet. First and last time staying here. Was told by the front desk there was a water main break. Checked the local web site for news or info. NO WATER MAIN BREAK!!! Stay clear of this place. read more

Since the rest of the hotels were marking up their room prices higher, we decided to plan our stay over the Lovers Key Resort for this weekend. The room had surprisingly been big enough for a family of 4, despite having 1 pull out bed and 1 full sized bed. The room was nice too as it had a full kitchen to work with, allowing us to save money on breakfast and lunches! The gym could've used new equipment, but I it's nice to have access I guess. Although, not being located on the beach, the resort did have a pool, and was very close to all the action on Estero! Overall, we all had enjoyed our stay. read more

We gave them another try, and we were very pleased. Our stay couldn't have been better. The views are spectacular and the room was perfect. The down side is the room and view are so relaxing, it doesn't produce motivation to do anything else. We enjoyed just spending time watching the dolphins and manatees. But, to get out a little, the state park down the road is a great place for a bike ride or walk on the beach. A wall north, you will find the beach relatively deserted and very peaceful. As for nearby dining, Flippers is nice, but a bit pricey for what you get. We made a drive to Ft Myers beach for an evening at Doc Fords. The food and atmosphere were fantastic, though it was pretty crowded. I recommend reservations. We will definitely be back to Lovers Key, and very happy we gave it another try. read more

My fiancée and I recently got married and booked our honeymoon stay at Lovers Key Resort. When we arrived it seemed deserted. There was very little parking and not a person in sight. No one was in the lobby to check us in because they were already closed for the day. After calling a phone # that was on the front desk we finally found out how to get to our room. Our entire floor was under construction which we were unaware of. The keypad to get into the room was not easy to use. The passcode was several digits long and did not have normal card entry. We walked into our room to find that the AC unit was leaking and a note saying it would be fixed that next day with a bucket on the floor. During our walkthrough we found hair, sand, and toenails on the floor. At the bottom of the bathroom shower there was what seemed to be black mold. We were absolutely disgusted and got connected to the property manager named Tonya Reed. She showed no empathy of any kind and stated that she had just been in the room and everything was fine as if we were lying. We told her about how we were upset over the floor being under construction and she told us that it was our fault for not checking the website when it wasn't on the website at all. She also tried to say that we wouldn't allow cleaning services into the room but we hadn't even arrived yet. We told her that we wanted a refund and would be leaving to find somewhere else to stay. She laughed and said that she would request a refund but it probably won't be approved. Tonya Reed has shown that she does not care about the customers and should not be in a customer facing role. We did not deserve to be treated this way on the first night of our honeymoon. Our day was ruined because of this whole experience and I would not recommend staying here ever! We decided to stay at Margaritaville instead where we are actually treated like human beings. read more

For two nights on the sixth floor, I paid $130 and 57,000 Amex points for an upgraded room. The views are beautiful. Our bedroom had one lamp without a bulb. The floors are neutral and I found that the bottom of my feet were coated with dust and lint. The unit did not have a toaster. The cutting board looked a roof shingle and its size was minimal. I'd rather stay at the Sanibel Harbour Marriott. One night there is 50,000 points. The rate at Lover's Key is $127 when booked directly. Basically I paid the hotel rate and 57,000 points. Beware of the resort fee. Generally, I feel ripped off. I must admit I did not contact the front desk. We did not want to settle in and move again. We are senior citizens. We've been here four times and have never been satisfied. I expected the agent would understand the upgrade request and we would be on a higher floor with a well appointed room. Let me start with the few good things. The views are spectacular, Flippers is very nice and the beds are comfortable. For starters, when we arrived, we were told our room would be ready in about 20 minutes. So we went to Flippers to grab a bite. We returned about 35 minutes later, only to be told they could not reach housekeeping, so they didn't have an estimate as to when our room would be ready. 10 minutes later we were told they needed another 30 minutes. Finally, 75 minutes later, we were allowed to check in - 1 hour and 40 minutes later than we were originally told. The wi-fi system was just horrible. Not only was ours not working at all, but when their employee came up to finally troubleshoot, she gave us the passwords for barely working wi-fi's on floors above or below us. Hence, it was extremely weak and went out repeatedly. Even when it was working, it was terribly slow. Wi-fi can no longer be seen as a luxury add-on when so much in today's world relies on constant communications. The dishes in the cabinets were filthy. The refrigerator had a blood-stained mid-section, probably from ground beef or steaks that were there previously. Don't they clean these things between guests? The tub in their shower had no matts or non-slip strips along the bottom. They were very slick and you had to be careful not to slip and fall. We are very aware of the manpower shortages businesses are experiencing these days. I know this puts a greater burden on those who are working to get the necessary jobs done. But when you market yourself as a luxury resort, with a price tag to match, you'd better find a way to keep your guests reasonably satisfied, or they simply will not come back. Like us. read more

This place is a dream! My husband and I walked in to Lover's Key after a less than desirable experience at another nearby hotel, desperate for a room. Adrian(?) at the front desk worked some magic and put us in a luxury suite for a very reasonable price. She also gave us complimentary breakfast vouchers for each morning of our stay. Our room was immaculate. The floor-to-ceiling windows over looking the bay were something out of a dream. We could see dolphins, manatees, fish, and birds at any time during the day. Watching the sunset from our balcony was beyond beautiful. Bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was huge. The hotel pool was awesome. Clean, warm water and a waterfall were my favorite features. We enjoyed the food and the drinks at Flippers on the Bay. Wait staff was friendly, fast, and very attentive. The grouper sandwich is out of this world! We would highly recommend Lover's Key and we will definitely be back! read more

Was sold on the view of the water and I got a parking lot! BASED ON AVAILABILITY! This should be this resorts moto! Now what does that actually mean. I think they meant to say, "we don't have what you think you're going to get so we just put you in whatever is left". Expedia is in on it to. They setup the bookings and clam it is up to the resort BASED ON AVAILABILITY! How available do you need to be when you book 6 months in advance and you get to the hotel 5 hours early! WOW! Just spoke to the front desk and there is nothing they can do! The manager "Jeff" has not called me yet but I doubt he is going to do anything either. Stay away from this place. I just read the critical reviews on Expedia's web site for this place. Most are recent but oddly enough they don't show up under the recent tab! Terrible reviews. What was I thinking. I try to stay at State Park resorts as much as possible. This one is in a superb location, and in comparison to other state park resorts it is one of the best. Now, the one thing not so great about these places are the mattresses. They are definitely not known for the most comfortable and new ones. I personally don't mind because I don't like sleeping that much anyway. I prefer to get out and explore the area I am in. This is one of the best places to be to get incredible photographs of thunderstorms on the water. The best time of the year for this is summer, but if you're looking for more sunset shots, the winter season is better. There is a kayaking dock where you can stop in at the restaurant and grab a bite to eat before continuing on your trip through the park. Overall, it is a really nice place and for those who love quiet areas it is very secluded. read more

Stayed here on an anniversary several years ago. The suite was impeccable. The front desk staff even let me check-in early which allowed me to adorn the room with candles, rose petals, champagne, strawberries & chocolate, etc. to make for a really romantic getaway. Everything was wonderful. The next morning we were greeted by a lone pelican hovering just off out balcony. I expect he was looking to share some of our breakfast, but by the time it arrived, he had flown off back to paradise. Everything seemed super clean at this hotel. The jacuzzi was spotless and super relaxing. Would definitely recommend for a nice getaway or for a special occasion. read more

The view was great, however, nobody ever told us that there would be no housekeeping because our condo was owned by someone other than Lovers Key Resort. This was never listed in any of the bookings or by staff in the confirmation emails. We only found out on day three of our stay when we were out of towels, only to be told that we had to pay the washing machines if we wanted fresh towels. I find it a bit fraudulent to offer these services to guest but not specify which rooms receive these services. I'm currently in the process of remedying this with bookings.com, but in the meantime, either call ahead before you book, or book somewhere else, especially if you're staying for an extended period of time. read more

No need to spend money of breakfast and the it's real food -not your typical half-baked, fake eggs and waffle with lousy pastries Continental Breakfast. Real eggs, Potatoes O'Brien, Great Coffee and even better toast. The rooms are spacious, clean with great views and wonderful patios. What's the number one item on my list for a Hotel - a great bed. PARADISE TO HELL IN AN INSTANT My husband and I had a recent stay a condo in Lovers Key Resort in Florida. We arrived Monday evening and was pleased that the pictures online were what we walked into. The condo was in a good location, and looked clean. Tuesday evening, my husband was tossing and turning scratching his arms and legs in his sleep. We did not think anything of it until Wednesday night when we woke up around 1:30 am and found the bed crawling with bedbugs. After our initial disgusted shock, I called the 24/7 emergency number that was posted on the fridge. I also called iTrip, texted them, and emailed. Knowing that they did not open until 8am, I expected someone from the 24/7 emergency number to call me back, but no one did. My husband and I showered, and carefully packed up some of our belongings and threw the rest away. We followed the departure list for the condo (trash, dishwasher, etc). We could not even entertain the idea of going to a hotel, so we headed to the airport hoping to get an earlier flight. We were not scheduled to leave until Friday, and unfortunately spent 15 hours at the airport standing by for an earlier flight, which was an additional cost for flight changes. Someone from iTrip called me back first thing in the morning to express apologies and willing to reimburse us for 3 nights not including any of the fees. We do not find this acceptable and feel we should have been reimbursed the entire amount. My warning to others is: #1-- the 24/7 emergency number is obviously not true, #2-- iTrip really doesn't go out of its way to properly take care of its customers, and #3-- beware of bedbugs! read more

This resort is absolutely beautiful! My husband and I stayed for 6 nights and enjoyed every min of it. We were on the second floor and had a fantastic view, with a balcony and lots of large windows, of the pool and the Gulf. The photos on yelp seem to be out of date. Our room looked like it was recently renovated with a full kitchen with granite counter tops, large beautiful bathroom with a large shower and a separate soaker tub (don't remember if it has jets), two flat screen TVs, internet and breakfast was included, and the bed was very comfortable. This stay felt like a honeymoon destination. In addition, the staff was very friendly and housekeeping is honest. I left out some pricey jewelry by accident and they weren't even touched. The 'Flippers' restaurant attached to the resort is an excellent spot to eat and enjoy the bay views. Michelle waited on us and did an excellent job. The chef and bartender also visited our table twice to make sure everything was perfect. We'll be back! read more

The front desk is nice, unit was clean, our room was 2hrs late being ready, being your own coffee because the coffee pouches they give you are like flavored water and the worst thing is the a/c unit was not working properly. We called the front desk and they sent the maintenance guy up with a temp gauge...he argued with us that it was fine blowing 72...but was still 80 degrees in there after the unit was turned down to 70 and we left for 4 hrs after turning it down.....needless to say it was a miserable night. It didnt even begin to remotely start to cool off until 2am. I notified them on check out the next morning and they offered no compensation or voucher...I tried to reach a mgr today and I was disconnected twice. I am local...wanted a weekend get away...wont recommend to anyone. read more

Wow is all I can say. We stayed there for 5 nights and have no complaints. We booked through Orbitz and got a fantastic deal. We were on 9th floor suite (not luxury ones) with amazing view of the bay. As others have said you see many birds and solphins galore at all hours of the day. Balcony was large and so peaceful to sit and watch the bay. Inside of apartment was spacious, kitchen had all we needed. pool was great, flippers on the bay restaurant was awesome for breakfast lunch or dinner! front desk person Michael was very accommodating and helpful. the beach across the street was great at Lovers Key State Park. we drove first day and it was abit of a mission to park, get a trolley to get to second part of beach access. The private entrance you can walk to from hotel and it was so much nicer and quicker. Overall best family time I could have asked for read more

I have been to the Fort Myers Beach area several times and this was by far the worst experience I've had. This place was literally a joke. Regardless of what they advertise the "resort" does NOT offer direct beach access, it's not centrally located in regards to the main strip, and the employees and staff were incredibly rude and hateful, specifically Jessica. I have never had such an awful experience with an employee in my life. She was downright hateful to my other guests and I. She also refused to let us speak to the manager. The building appears run down and parking is subpar at best. I will NEVER recommend this "resort" to anyone. Your money will be best spent anywhere else but here. read more

Stayed here the night of May 18th for just one night. I had to be in Naples the next day. We showed up without a reservation and got a great rate comparable to the other resorts located 2 miles away in town where there was a lot of congestion and traffic. This place is located in a quiet area close to an amazing state park that has a beautiful gulf beach. Our breakfast was included in the rate and was served at a restaurant/grill, "Dolphins" located on the same property. We both had eggs, toast and home style potatoes with the best coffee on the planet with a very friendly server. We stayed in a wonderful 1 bedroom suite with a huge balcony on the fifth floor that was extremely clean, had a comfortable king sized bed, nice sheets and was nicely furnished and had an adequately equipped kitchenette. Dishwasher, fridge with ice maker and a small electric oven with 4 burners. Lots of adults there, mellow quiet and friendly. read more

Rating is based on the beach-front restaurant only. I did not stay at the resort. The restaurant has a great view of the water. The food was very good - I ordered a chicken gyro and the chicken was tender, flavored with a bit of curry. Prices are what I would expect for a resort beach-front restaurant. No table service - you order at the counter and seat yourself. If it weren't for the no-see-ums I would have liked to hang out here a little longer. read more

Stayed here for a mini family vacation last weekend (fathers day w/e); it was awesome. Suite was very spacious and clean. We were upgraded to a luxury room so we had an enormous bathroom with a separate shower & jacuzzi tub. We had a pool/bay view from the 2nd floor which was easy to appreciate with their huge windows. The breakfast was great (the waterfront restaurant Flippers does it); there was free wifi; a waterfall pool; and the beach was across the street. It was quite the deal for the price. One bedroom condo hotel with restaurant on premise. No matter what they tell you there is no beach on site. You have to walk about one mile and cross busy road to get to beach. However, pool is beautiful with cascading waterfall. A plus is that it has a restaurant onsite and some of the rates include breakfast. read more

My wife and I have been been coming here since 2001, usually in November and May. It is a beautiful location, right on the bay, secluded and mostly quiet. The beach is across the street at Lovers Key State Park. We always take our bikes, and ride over to the park. There are really nice nature trails along inland waterways with manatees, birds, and an occasional alligator. The beach is gorgeous. You can rent chairs and umbrellas and spend the day. The resort is very clean and well-kept. The rooms (apartments actually) are beautiful, with full kitchens, and huge windows that offer gorgeous views. We like the rooms with a bay view the best. The staff is also very helpful. They have a nice pool, with a waterfall, and a hot tub. There is an excellent restaurant, Flippers, on the premises, right on the water. Lunch is pretty crowded sometimes as people pull up on boats. There are also other good restaurants within a 15 minute drive. The reason that I can't give the resort five stars is that the Air Conditioning in many of the units is less than ideal. Poor air distribution cools the living room, but leaves the bedroom quite warm. Some of the units also have condensate pumps that come on intermittently throughout the night - short loud buzz bursts that sound like a door buzzer. If you're a sound sleeper, you may not notice, but it always keeps us up. None the less, its a beautiful spot. read more

We rented unit 1108 from Distinctive Beach Rentals, which was a great choice, they will do everything in their power to make your stay great. The condo was beautifully appointed, fantastic views, very comfortable, and being next door to the state park with all their recreational facilities was wonderful.
