I live a block away from Lover's Point. Its a pretty cool place during the week. Weekends get crazy busy. During the summer, skip it altogether. If you go here on a weekend in the summer you won't be able to hear yourself over the 50 person-family Filipino picnics and the six Mexican weddings they have there a day. They have so many Mexican weddings at this place I think I've been asked to be a stand-in for a groomsman a good 5 or 6 times. The snackshop is awesome. Their cheeseburgers are about as good as I've ever tasted. They're In N Out quality. read more

Monterey never ceases to amaze me. This is the second time that my family and I have spent my Thanksgiving holiday in Monterey. This is also the first time that we spent the time to walk all around the Monterey path until we reached the end. And what a pleasant surprise to find Lovers Point Park at one of the end of the path. I can for sure share that Lovers Point Park is a worthwhile spot to stop by during your stay at Monterey. The park is right at the tip where land meets the sea, and there are many beautiful seagulls taking refuge there. There is also a little path that takes you to the top of the landmark, where you can take scenery group photos or just gaze out toward the endless sea. I am also impressed by the quality of the water in Monterey. Not only is the water transparently clear, but there is also zero pollution in sight. This kind of scenery gives me hope that we can still preserve this beautiful Earth while we can! read more

Definitely the biggest tourist draw next to cannery row. If you have to come here, please stay the hell out of my pictures! Also, there are a few restaurants nearby, 2 motels within walking distance, and an outdoor volleyball court. This is also where a lot of kayakers enter to get out into the open seas. I would be careful of standing on the highest rocks during bad weather as several people have been eaten alive by the waves. Rent a bike and go down to the rocky points that have a better beach. read more

One of my favorite beaches in the area. I love how scenic and relaxing it is here. Tons of benches and spots to sit and soak up the gorgeous ocean view. It's a beautiful spot to take a morning walk, the sunlight here in the morning is AMAZING. I could cry. Every picture you take will be perfect. I am so glad I know about this place, it is one of my go-to spots when I'm in the Monterey area. I am planning to move here soon for school so it's nice getting to know my way around and where all the cool spots are. Come relax here on your day off with a book and a picnic. :) read more

Very nice park. Beautiful views all around. Picnic tables for sitting and/or eating where you can look out at the ocean and sky in peace. There is an awesome rock mountain/hill/cliff thing at the end of the park, and this has some serious photo opps on it. It is a little bit difficult to walk on, so not for the unsteady, but not too bad as long as you have some good shoes on matched with some balance :) I went here on a Sunday afternoon in the middle of March, so the weather wasn't "the best" although we really lucked out because it was a beautiful sunny day (although very windy). It wasn't crowded here to the point where it would ever bother me. I could imagine it getting really crowded if it was a summer day and on the weekend. I also parked down the street in a restaurant parking lot, so I didn't have to worry about the parking situation, although I think that might also be a problem. There's a shopping center right near by with restaurants and stores that I didn't venture into. Dogs were all around the park as well so I think it's also pretty dog friendly! read more

I went here for the first time today, and it was beautiful. I didn't realize you could camp here and there were several tents along the park. The water is crystal clear and there are crabs and other sea creatures to look at all over here. It is great to just get out and climb all over the rocks. The formations are beautiful! There are a ton of ground squirrels here and they are pretty entertaining all on their own. I wish there was less garbage though and people would clean up their own sh*t! If you can bring it in, you need to pack it out or at least make the trash can. This place is magical for watching the sunset over the rock formations. read more

You CAN'T visit Monterey without visiting Lover's Point. Technically it's in Pacific Grove, but who cares about technicalities! Whether you're looking for a picnic with a wonderful view, want to climb on some rocks, or enjoy a private beach with the snack shack, this place has everything. When I visited, I brought my yoga mat with me and did yoga in the park. It had a very San Francisco feel to it, with families enjoying the day in this very lax atmosphere. As I was leaving, I was approached by a lady who saw me doing yoga, and asked if I was a part of the yoga group! I didn't even know! Apparently they do yoga here on the weekend mornings, which was fantastic! It's a very communal park, and was extremely welcoming. Bring your bike, picnic basket, bathing suit.. and heck, maybe yoga mat for some of you, 'cause you can easily spend a whole day here in leisure. read more

I never swam here. I goofed off with my friend who used to work at the rental place. I sat on the beach and relaxed. I watched some silly people play hacky sack while I relaxed on the grass. I read a whole book in one day there. I watched a friend train for a triathalon and totally fail attempting to navigate the kelp beds. I watched the undulating calm from a nearby apartment window of a home I almost rented. This place is amazing... and my recent memories are dwarfed by my early childhood memories. So crazy. We ended up here accidentally, after missing out on the 17 Mile Drive (we were 15 mins late!). But we needed to find a spot to see the sunset, so my fiance suggested we stop at Lovers Point Park. We found a parking spot pretty easily, and we headed toward the rocky outcropping at the tip of the park. Lucky us! We still had a gorgeous view of the Pacific Ocean & Monterey Bay. The three of us had a lot of fun carefully climbing the rocks (good thing we wore sneakers!) & listening to the waves as the tide came in. It was a little chilly, but we ended up sitting there for almost an hour, just enjoying the view. It was beautiful & relaxing. This is really a cute spot, and worth visiting :) read more

Teeny tiny little park with breathtaking view worth a million bucks! Best time to come is during the springtime when the ice plants are blooming, and the park is surrounded by a gorgeous hues of purple and green. Of course, typical of Central Coast weather, a light sweater is a must. It gets a bit blustery. read more

A great park! Really scenic ocean front park! Nice grassy areas for a picnic or some light sports. A rocky point to climb on, which is probably not the safest thing to do in the world, but sure is fun. There a rocky shoreline that is uncovered during low tide for a tidepooling kind of experience. Plenty of above shore wild life like birds, otters, and seals. There's even a little snack shack and place to rent kayaks and stuff open during the summer. Public restrooms are available and opened daily around 8 or 9 in the morning. The biggest draw for me is the protected dive entry on inner lover's. Even on the roughest of days, you can probably enter here with little or no problem. There's even a nice landing with bench build into the wall which makes a great place to put your gear together, settle your final dive plans, and don your gear before entering. There's great sea life too, probably my favorite dive spot in the area when there's some swell. If you're willing to make the swim out to edge of the kelp line, there's people who pay 100 bucks a day for boat to drop them off at the same place. Be sure to check with a local guide or dive with someone who has dove here before, if you're not used to diving around here. I've never had trouble parking here, since there's lot space with a 2hr limit with some exceptions for weekends and holidays (I think) and a ton of street parking if that's filled. read more

We enjoyed taking a few minutes here watching the lovers sitting on the rock beds, the scuba divers, the surfers and a few harbor seals with their pup on the shore. We also drove the Oceanview St and all the way to the oldest continuously operating light house on the West Coast: Point Pinos Lighthouse. read more

Loved walking around here and on a nice day it is absolutely beautiful! The day I went was pretty warm so it was nice that it didn't get too windy like most other waterfront areas in Monterey. Originally we weren't planning to go here, but we saw it on our drive to get brunch in the morning and decided to come back and stop since it looked so beautiful and inviting. Didn't regret that decision at all! So scenic and beautiful! I think it's one of those places that's nice to go to to clear your mind and just walk around. read more

This place is amazing! I'm glad we decided to drive here after going to Monterey. We came here on a cloudy day and it was amazing. We climb the rocks and though it was scary, it was definitely worth it. We also went to the beach by climbing the rocks and you'll find little crabs crawling around so watch out for these little guys! The waves were very soothing. I visited this place in 1998. My mom wanted her ashes sprinkled in Monteray, CA. Besides that! It's a nice view and a nice place. There is a hotel near by the area "Seven Gable Inn". It use to be the "Grand View Inn." I recommend this place for a romantic getaway with someone you care about. read more

This park is so beautiful. It's not hard to find, and it's just outside of the craziness of downtown Monterey. It's a beautiful location for weddings, too! This park is truly loved by so many people. That might be a downside now! We went on a Wednesday midday and it was FULL of people. I barely found a place to sit down alone! I'll definitely return for the beautiful views. read more

Monterey Bay is obviously taking its environmental stewardship a lot more seriously than San Francisco Bay. On the beach, you can see the gradient change from the pristine clear water's edge to the deep-bright jewel blue of the Bay's depths - an obvious sign of clean, unpolluted ocean. The otters seem to be thriving. It looks like a healthy ecosystem! I've heard this has a lot to do with the presence of the Monterey Bay Aquarium and its work. Keep it up! The upper grassy park has its fair share of sun and tree shade depending on your preference. Wander out towards the rocks for a divine view and to meet some personable seagulls. We didn't check out any of the nearby businesses because we were too busy enjoying the beach (and saving money), but there are some cool recreational activities on offer right there (kayak and bike rentals, etc). The beach is totally family-friendly. It's very small, but that just makes it easy to supervise the kids. Safe to walk barefoot and swim. Just fyi, the beach itself is down a flight of stairs so, depending on your condition, it may not be accessible for people with disabilities. The upper park is nice and level with the street, though. SF Bay, let's follow the example of our Monterey neighbors. Don't litter. Get the local oil refineries to stop contaminating the Bay. Someday, we can have water and wildlife this happy and beautiful, too. That'll be awesome! read more

A really nice area to bring the family to enjoy themselves. Although it was really windy that day, this particular beach area was blocked by a wall. The water was icr cold but there still were a few kids playing near the waves. Will def. be coming here again! read more

I REALLY loved this cute spot. I found a nice little nook downstairs on the sand. Laid out my beach blanket right near the wall and under the tree that towers above the cliffside. The beach is clean and very family friendly...in fact one parent kept calling his kids back but they were having too much fun and ignored his calling for over 3 minutes. The seagulls here are also a bit annoying so don't leave your food unattended or out of sight for too long or else they'll attack! Other than that, grab a nice big beach blanket, pop open a bottle of wine and cheese and crackers and enjoy the beautiful scenery and kiss your significant other...because hey! this place is called Lover's Point Park right?! read more

I overheard my boss and one of our patient's talking about Lover's Point and I wanted to check it out if I was ever in the area. I had it on my list of things to see for the day, after the food & wine festival, but we accidentally ran into it in the morning and we had time to kill so we went. The view is so beautiful and it really is a Lover's Point. It would be a cute place to have a bbq or just to sit in the park, on the beach or on the rocks. There were also a bunch of fisherman out in the morning and they look like they were catching stuff. read more

Talk about the new (old) hang out! This entire area (not just "Lover's Point Park") is sooooooooo wonderful. Off the beaten path & away from the touristy/ trendy Monterey. The beach, water, & wild life are up close & personal. The residents of Pacific Grove & people in general are very nice & personable. The area is well maintained & respected. It's quiet & peaceful (no ninjas & Harley's roaring through the streets). The beaches are wheelchair/walker accessible, dog friendly, kid friendly, & you can bring your own BBQ! What more can I say - I love PG & Lover's Point. read more
