This is a beautiful Park with a lawn where you can bring a blanket, a bottle of wine and a picnic meal... or have fun catching a football ...or......walk along the path, climb some rocks, look at the ocean, and even feed the "PHAT" squirrels (lol) regardless why you find yourself here, it is worth the drive and the time to take a day, relax and take it all in. Parking doesn't seem to be a problem right up against the ocean front on the path near the park.
This park is BEAUTIFUL! It's a great place to watch the sunrise, sunset, or just relax and reflect. We didn't have any trouble with parking. The views of the coast were breathtaking with the rock formations and surrounding wildlife. We saw the cutest California ground squirrels and various seabirds. I would suggest wearing closed-toed shoes if you plan on climbing the rocks. I would love to visit this park again and bring a blanket and sandwich next time!
Lovely place with big rocks you can climb with a view of the ocean. Some beach swimming access, snack bar, picnic areas and friendly ground squirrels.
My 1st review of 2026!!! I've visited Lovers Point Park twice so far, and I love it here. :) My first visit was back in April of 2025, and I remember that I parked in the residential street and walked two blocks to get to the park. The place has nice walking paths, beautiful ocean views, and pretty park area with picnic tables. The squirrels are so friendly and will approach you without any fear. So friendly! My 2nd visit was today with my boyfriend and his doggie. It was his visit here, and we got a nice walk in plus we enjoyed our bagel sandwiches here. There's a long walking path, but we didn't get to walk all of it. Next time we will do it! :) You can also walk down to the beach area and climb the rocks if you're feeling adventurous!
We drove over here to get some relaxation time at the beach. We ended up really liking it. There's plenty of free 2 hour parking nearby. You have a to walk down a bunch of steps to get down. Lots of squirrels in the park above the beach. Fun day.
Incredible little parka and beach areas. Saw lots of families and my little fam had a great time too. Water was fresh. You can do kayaking, and ride those surrey bikes, they have a snack shack, and a little restaurant, volley ball area. Super nice. Will be back eventually/ whenever we do a staycation here again.

The name was later shortened for obvious reasons. Great little picturesque beach area and park to visit both during the day and even at night for a different vibe. As with most places along the coast on the peninsula, the weekends can be pretty busy, so visit mid-week if you can.
I love Lovers Point Park and its surrounding area. The views are so beautiful and bring a sense of calm & peace. Ride your bike along the bike path and stop for a picnic or dip your feet in the ocean at the two connecting beaches. Caution climbing the rocks, amazing view but can be dangerous. There are few picnic tables but plenty of grassy area. Lots of squirrels, they will climb right in your lap looking for food if you let them. They have a bathroom as well. The immediate surrounding area to the park has a restaurant, a cafe, pool, snack bar, bike rentals and of course lovers point beach. This is a family friendly park where locals and tourists alike visit. It is very easy to spend an entire day here.
Definitely a cool beach and area to chill and walk around. Nature at its finest for sure. You can't miss the great views of the open sea. And the flowers and small paths you can walk through are definitely very nice too. A cool area you don't wanna miss if you're in the area!
If I had to pick one favorite spot in California, this would be it!!! The water is sooo blue; just the way a person would imagine it to be . It's perfect for walking, eating, taking pictures--literally everything. There are plenty of trails and picnic/barbecue tables. You'll also see lots and lots of squirrels. The water levels at the beach can rise unexpectedly, so do your research beforehand. If you just want to sit and think about life, trust me--you'll love it here. Kids will love it too; my nephew was absolutely thrilled. Parking is usually easy to find. You'll see people doing all kinds of things--cooking, playing, taking photos--it's always lively but still peaceful.
Great spot to just take the trail along the ocean for a walk/jog or just sit on the green. Nice little beach for swimming , bike rental or kayaking. If you're not into any of that grab a coffee, watch friendly squirrel.
This continues to be one of our go-to spots because it is kid friendly and no fuss. Parking is free but it can take a while to find a spot during peak times. The park is first come first serve but we always come for the small beach that gets full sun and is right off the Monterey Bay trail (accessible by foot, bike, or four rider rentals). There is a ramp to come down on the trail side, or you use the stairs on the park side. There are restrooms but I have not used them. In the summer the bathroom lines are always long. As always in this area the water is freezing but we love coming here because the shore is calm enough for kids to play. There is a place to rent kayaks and bikes on the shore. The beach is clean and you have great views. We usually have lunch close by in Monterey or Pacific Grove (lots of options on Lighthouse Ave) and then come here for 2 hours. There is a snack shop and cafe on site and a Seltzer restaurant across the street. Bring your beach gear and stay awhile!
Beautiful beach! The area is amazing! It's like a little park if it's own! Nice place to walk, bathe in, perfect for young children plus a perfect spot to have a picnic! We feel in love with this spot. We had never been, we aren't from the area so we loved it. read more
Reasons to visit Pacific Grove: The Annual Feast of Lanterns http://www.feast-of-lanterns.org/ and my home beach -- we have photos with me as early as a year of age on this beach...eating sand I'm sure... go, see, do...and DIVE if you are able! will never forget the summer we all saw JAWS...then NONE of us wanted to learn to scuba dive OR surf... back in the day there was a glass bottom boat...and I have many wonderful memories of this beach...and tidepooling in the same place that Doc Ricketts conducted his marine research...and the train coming through here...read Steinbeck's Cannery Row...and glimpse back in time...it hasn't changed all that much... read more
This view is breathtaking. The park is clean and the parking isn't too bad. On different side of the park there are staircases so you can walk down to the beach. It's a great place to take the family or just go on a romantic picnic. However, if you don't happen to have food with you there are a couple of restaurants to pick up something quick. read more
This location is perfect for a romantic or family beach picnic with remarkable views of this beautiful bay and homes surrounding it. There are two options for picnic: the higher elevation offers the green grass area with plenty of shade from sprawling branches of gigantic trees and then there is a slight walk down the steep stairs you have the option of the sandy beach area with a slight shade from the stone wall. I prefer the green grass area, since it has plenty of shade, and the the grass is clean and properly maintained, and plus sand won't be getting into my shoes and to top things off this location offers a spectacular view of the ocean clashing into the rocks and sands and the whimsical luxurious homes surrounding it. It really feels like heaven and someplace I want to be forever because its so beautiful. I do also love to take a walk around the area, they have a very well maintained walking path that runs for miles. Perfect to walk the dog and kids, because everything here is so unique. getting a parking here is also easy, there is a 2 hour free parking nearby, so you don't have to pay for parking unless of course posted. Parking was like only a few steps away from my picnic location. My picnic experience has been positive, I came on a Thursday to avoid the crowd, and as perfectly as I planned the park was not crowded. There were people around , but they weren't rowdy and mostly were locals or tourist walking around, I found a perfect shady place to sit, set my picnic cloth down, with my basket of food, and it was a splendor to eat in such a breaking view. Its definitely a priceless moment and very romantic if you have a date. There are trash cans here, which makes it easy to dispose things after a picnic. Also the park is clean and safe, therefore there isn't any thereat. I actually walked down to the beach at noon and sort of explored the area, its marvelous and remarkable what you can find near the stone area, so many sea life such as crabs, mollusks and even small dish swimming in these rock puddles. Its very safe and entirely exciting for kids. Overall this location is perfect for picnics and romantic walks even. read more
Love it. Beautiful. Parking wasn't so bad. (Side of street). As you enter you'll see a little shack house that sells food and to your right you'll see a small beach that'll remind you of Hawaii due to the tri-color of the water. Take a dip if you please. As you proceed to lover's point park up the stairs, you reach a tiny park with maintained landscape that you can sit and have a picnic or chill on one of the benches. As you walk towards some rocks, you can walk up them to get a better view of the coast and the city behind them. Amazing views! read more

So many great walks and bike rides here. One of my favorite places on earth. Man I love Monterey almost more than my hometown 40 miles away in Santa Cruz...they are so much more well equipped for cyclist. Its a joy riding here! Photos are not (lovers) on Lovers point, but they are "besties". read more

Im only giving this beach a 4 star because of the fact that it is drop dead absolute gorgeous! Besides the obvious, it is warm like no other beach surrounding because of the massive wall blocking the harsh, spine chilling, winter wind that is year round. The beach is always FLOODED with monstrous, vial children.(which is why im giving 4 stars instead of 5) I flat out witnessed two of these young serial killers throwing good sized rocks at innocent squirells. They also kick sand on our blanket and come into our personal space screaming. It is hard to have a good time with children invading and parents not having a care in the world if thier offspring ruins our beach day. Other than that, highly recommend. read more

This is a must see when you go down to PG. The rocks brought back childhood memories. When I checked in @ our hotel, the FD host suggested to take the "walk" to lover's point. I was so delighted we did go, because we got cool pictures and got a bench to ourselves and just watched the waves rush in. read more
My boyfriend and I recently visited Monterey for the weekend. I had read reviews and looked at pictures here on Yelp for Lovers Point Park, and it looked like a fun place to enjoy the outdoors and take our own pictures. The park was only a few miles from our hotel and despite the flat tire we got on our way there, we still found our way with ease and a spacious parking spot in the free lot nearby. There were tons of peoples there since it was a Saturday afternoon, but the park still felt very open where you didn't feel in the way. It looked like a great local spot to enjoy on the weekend - the beach was filled with kids playing in the water while adults relaxed in the sand. The cliffs where I think Lovers Point gets it's name was filled with both locals and tourists trying to get the best angle for their pictures. Other locals brought camping chairs and books and were soaking up the sun in quiet spots. My boyfriend and I had a great time walking all over the park and taking fun action shots with my tripod and remote shutter. There were tide pools nearby with different fish, and coastline filled with rocks breaking up the blue water. I'd love to visit Lovers Point Park again when I'm in the area and maybe even take a dip in the water if it's warm! read more
My favorite spot in PG. Pictures say it all, so that's all I have to say. :). Ok, Yelp says I have to say more. So... Beware of the fog. Even for this region, it's more common than most of the central coast, very similar to Carmel highlands. It often gets windy and/or a bit cold, so bring a jacket. Bring a thick jacket if you make it all the way to Asilomar, it's really chilly there sometimes! Fog or cold, rain or shine, it's worth it. :) read more

Beautiful park! Monterey is one of my favorite places on earth and I had never been to this little gem until today! I can't believe I never knew about it. My boyfriend and I were astonished to see how unpopulated it was on this slightly overcast day, and to watch the surfers near the rocks. There were quite a few spots to sit and enjoy all the ocean has to offer without being overrun by gaggles of people ruining the nature. There was plenty of wildlife to observe including two whales playing a ways out, quite a few sea otters in the surf and tons of hermit crabs. There were dozens of sea ducks swimming around too. Overall it was a lovely romantic afternoon for our anniversary. I definitely plan on returning to this little spot. read more

I enjoy strolling to this point from Shoreline Park. It's a gorgeous stretch of coast and easily accessible to downtown Pacific Grove. The blues of the ocean, the crash of the waves, the formation of the rocks are spectacular. Sometime you can see brave surfers or divers in the protected area about to swim out. Its great climbing the rocks and looking out below. It reminds me of the beaches in San Diego, but a bit cooler in temperature. read more

Who wouldn't want to come to Lovers Point? Beside it being a very romantic spot for you and your significant other, it's a great place to take pictures and picnic/BBQ with friends. Sometimes you might even catch a wedding ceremony going on at the infamous spot. Great location to watch paddleboarders, seals and sea lions, otters, and swimmers hit the cold water. If you bring your binoculars, you can also check out the fishermen and the catch of the day. read more
Well my husband and I walked down to Lovers Point Park from the Centrella Inn where we spent the night. It was early morning around 7:15a.m. before the sunrise. We took some beautiful pictures. It was a blustery morning needed a scarf and warm jacket. The Restaurant is still under construction. The Grill was not open. read more

We came on a Saturday afternoon and ended up staying on the beach! Was perfect weather although the water was too cold to swim in. Great area to lounge, lots of parking available, and there's even a food place if you want to grab an ice cream cone. We brought some chips, a blanket, and a game of scrabble and enjoyed a nice afternoon here. The water kept rising as it got closer to high tide but the beach wasn't too cramped so we were fine moving back. read more

Family friendly and a relaxing place to let go while on a getaway. While it CAN get busy, its not overly loud and obnoxious...lol. The views are gorgeous and the weather is exceptional this time of year!...Well, compared to SoCal... ;-) I'd recommend it for photos as well. read more

I was there on March 25, 2017 with my hiking group. We drove from Fresno and got there around 9 am. A little overcast and drizzle in the morning around 9:30 am , however cleared up and saw blue sky with patchy clouds. The temperature was around 60 degrees F and it turned out to be a gorgeous perfect hiking day!!! We reached Lovers Point Park via Monterey Coastal hiking trail. It's situated along the coast line. There's a little burger joint and a coffee shop and the public restroom there if you want to take a little break. Beautiful scenery of the ocean. We saw quite a few surfers enjoying the waves on this beautiful relaxing Sunday morning. I'm planning on taking my son there next time. read more
