A month ago I bought a mini fridge for 650$ that did not show the damage, which also made the unit not work. I've been a customer of Loveseat since before they moved into their larger location and sold. They've always been a stand up auction house that stood behind their products and were extremely helpful/customer focused. The Loveseat today is not even close. I had an item I refused at pickup, the box had Damaged written but was advertised as 'appears new'. When I opened it the item was completely thrashed. They told me to expect a refund in a couple of days, which didn't happen for 3 weeks after I essentially had to plead with them to refund me for an item I didn't even take that was up for sale in their current auction! Fast forward to a couple months later and I gave them another go. I won a few items and when I went to assemble a chair I won it wasn't even the same chair as what was advertised. It was also missing half of the parts. When I reached out to Loveseat on returning it they denied me because it had been over 7 days since purchase. Funny you guys can take 3 weeks to give me a refund but you're entitled to a short fuse on a return. The chair cost me over $100 and it was a complete waste of money. Was okay with that since most of the items were going into my furnished rentals or I was buying a partial set really cheap that I hoped I could create something to donate to people in need. Now that is no longer true. Just won a bid for $1 (only a part of a bed set) and my invoiced amount was $17.85. $10 Handling Cost, $6 Service fee, $.85 Tax. A month ago that would have been less than $2 and I would have been at least one-third of the way to having the materials that after some extra drilling and sawing would result in bunk bed sets for a needy family.. I've used this auction site several time and the only issue I had in the past, is that there was a screw missing. Now I bought some chairs that showed returned but the pictures showed everything in working order. I get it home after a long stressful day just to be surprised with 2 broken chairs in a box. I should have taken it as a bad auction when I got there and a customer asked if there had ever been a bad buy. It also added to insult when the female that was taking names kept coming out and saying that even though these people had been waiting for so long that their stuff was nowhere to be found. I had requested for a refund of the restocking fee as I had received and returned a shattered glass figurine. There was a lot of unnecessary back and forth e-mail communication between the dates of 7/28/23 to 8/22/23 -- almost a full month (a waste of time)! On 7/28/23, I went to the Loveseat warehouse in Mira Mesa (San Diego location) to pick up an item that I purchased through the auction; it was a glass figurine. Upon receiving the item, I noticed the glass figurine was shattered. I immediately went back to the warehouse representative and requested for a full refund as the item was completely shattered. The warehouse representative only gave me back a portion of the amount, and kept the restocking fee. There was NOTHING to restock because the item was shattered, unless they were planning to auction a shattered figurine (which, at this point, I would not put it past Loveseat). When I got home that same day on 7/28/23, I e-mailed Loveseat to request for them to refund me the restocking fee since there was nothing to restock. On 7/30/23, Loveseat informed me that the refund was processed on 7/28/23 and to wait 3-5 business days. Then, when I didn't get the refund, I e-mailed them back on 8/9/23. On 8/9/23, they e-mailed me back saying to now wait 5-10 business days from 7/28/23. More than 10 business days later on 8/18/23, I e-mailed them back to inquire. On 8/18/23, they e-mailed me back now to say to reach out to my financial institution to address this. So on 8/18/23, I called my bank and got the charge resolved. On 8/20/23, I received an e-mail from Loveseat stating that they were unable to process a refund due to a chargeback that they received, and then asked me to go back to my bank to withdraw the chargeback. I don't think I will ever want to deal with Loveseat anymore. I paid over $1,500.00 on a coffee table which was described 'Appear New' and it was actually a damaged table. They didn't provide the photos of the damaged parts when they listed it and there is no way to see the real conditon when you place a bid. I refused it at the San Diego warehouse and send the photos of the damaged parts to the support team and requested a refund on this damaged table. I was told the request was under investigation. I sent another email to ask the status on my request and received the same answer. Finally I received an email today saying "Thank you for your patience. Unfortunately, we will not be able to issue a refund for LOT #731083, however, the item was resell on your behalf. This means that Items will be re-auctioned, and you will receive 50% of the proceeds once the customer who purchases the item/s pays their invoice in full. " I don't feel I was treated fairly. They told me that my request was under investigation and in the meantime they just put it in the auction and told me that I would only receive the 50% of the proceed. I was treated like a fool. Long but informative, honest review. Buyer beware. It could be a good or bad experience for you. I've been a customer for years, well before the pandemic. Loveseat used to sell local consignment pieces before they sold returned and overstock items. I want to love this company so much, but your purchase from them is a gamble. There are many, many unhappy customers whose orders are lost or the item they bought was grossly misrepresented. It's happened to me time, time, and time again. On the other hand, sometimes you end up with a great find/deal and feel like you scored. What you NEED to know. Loveseat doesn't thoroughy check items so your purchase is a complete risk. Even if a listing says, "Appears New," you can hover over those words and it will disclose that Loveseat doesn't fully inspect the item and they cannot guarantee perfect condition. Thus, they really are guessing that it appears new. To me, that's a deceptive business practice if you have to hover over an active word to see that it doesn't really mean what it says. The best thing to do, if possible, is to open and inspect every item before you leave their property. That way you can decline a purchase. Often that's really impractical, especially if buying something electrical, mechanical, large, or items that need to be assembled. Once you get your items home and they don't work or there's damage that they didn't take the time to take pictures of, you can email them and ask for a refund. Customer service isn't the best, but not the worst either. They will consider giving you a full refund if you take the time to return the item to them or they may offer you up to a 30% refund if you keep the damaged or broken item. Thus, you need to return the item or pay 70% of your bid to keep a damaged or non-functioning item you bought from them. I've been screwed over time and again because I didn't have the time to drive almost 30 minutes one way to return an item. I was then left with paying 70% of something I would never have considered purchasing if the listing was accurate. Or, and this has happened more times than I care to admit, I just don't want to deal with customer service and take what I paid for the item as a loss. See what I mean about risk? Being a long-time faithful customer, I've urged them (often!) to consider checking their items more thoroughly so they can have more integrity with their listings. I hear so many complaints from other customers while waiting for them to bring my order out week to week. Loveseat has specifically told me they don't have any interest in changing their business practices. That kind of sucks, tbh. So - whenever you're bidding on an item, think about if it's damaged, are you willing to deal with customer service over email and 1) return the item to their warehouse for a refund or 2) keep it for 70% of what you paid for. Buyer beware. Got stuck with 2 broken patio umbrellas and 4 wicker patio chairs that had been damaged by a box cutter. I would inspect purchases when you pick them up and deal with it then and there. Otherwise you have to go through email correspondence and then you are asked to send photos of the damaged goods to prove they were in fact damaged. Then you must deal with returning damaged goods to the warehouse . I think LoveSeat then keeps trying to sell those returned damaged goods in the next auction without warning of their condition. Be supper careful, you can't preview and they don't disclose defects. I bid on a barstool $65 and it came with 3 right legs and one left leg so it was $100 tossed to the wind. I asked for a refund and it was denied. Their links don't always work so I asked the size of a shower door, they said it was up to 74" wide so I bid $600+ out the window because it only goes up to 60"! I had a box that was suppose to have 8 cushions in it, instead, it had a broken toaster oven! That they refunded me $25. This company is relatively new and has horrible support. Absolutely regret using loveseat... I've already emailed support twice this week and still haven't received an email for their team to "review". I purchased a bed frame that states "factory sealed" and "appears new". The box was clearly repackaged with a ton of taped on one end, clearly not new. The first thing I noticed was that the upholstery was torn when I opened up the box. I didn't even bother taking the package out and sent an email to their support team, no reply in a week. Decided I'd have to deal with the damaged upholstery a week later and pulled the product out of the package. Even worse, the bed rest is BROKEN. I can't even put this together. So I just wasted my money on something I can't even use. Nope. The pictures are deceiving. Most pictures show what it WAS, not the actual product or condition. The long lines aren't excusable when claiming your items. You aren't allowed inside before, during or after the auction. Sometimes items you paid for have gone to someone else or can't be found, then you have to wait for a refund and maybe drive back to get it another day. Service is lacking almost as much as value. Having made multiple purchases over the last couple years I have run into same issue that has yet to be resolved. First and foremost they are very clear how the system works and what you sign up for. You are buying items that you have not seen before and if they turn out to be malfunctioning so be it. That is their policy and they make that very clear, fair enough. My advice is to open up every item and double check before you accept it. Frequently items listed as "appear new" turn out to be heavily used or broken and if you do not refuse it in the spot it is yours. For items less than $15 or so, it will easily double your costs or more. Still great for picking up furniture or items more than $100. I just wanted to point out the new "handling fee" they recently added in addition to the regular 15% service fee they charge. After a backlash from loyal customers about the addition of the new handling fee, they sent an email saying they removed the handling fee. What they neglected to disclose in the email was that they just took the additional handling fee they "removed", and added it to the current "service fee" that went from 15% to 25%. All of the heaters I bought were defective. The site said "appears new" however on at least 2 of the there was a slip on top that said defective. one of them almost started a fire. when we're looked closer of the slip on the top it said the device was smoking. 3, The "appears new" trash can I bought has a large dent in the lid. Unfortunately my experience here was not good. The customer service is not good, there is no sence of urgency to welcome customers or to guide them on how the pick up process works. They have an extreme lack of organization and lack of management supervision. There operations system is horrible, when you check in you need to sign a paper stating that you have received your item(s) before you actually receive your items. After signing the paperwork, the paperwork is moved to a clipboard on top of a cabinet where the air blew a couple times and two of the signed paperwork flew behind the cabinet, one of the employee noticed it but I know exactly what happens when one of those papers get lost. 30 minutes after I checked in I started noticing that everyone who got there after me was already receiving their items. I called one of the employees and told him about my situation. I saw the employee that I spoke with grabbing some papers and leaving to look for the items, I assumed sinced I expressed my situation to him that he found my paperwork and went looking for my item but after about 10 minutes he came back with other people's items. So, I asked him if he found my paperwork and his response was no. He never let me know anything until I asked for the second time about my item. Finally another employee with better customer service skills approach me and apologize about the issue, requested my information to look for the item and brought it to me. I ended spending almost an hour there which is not a nice experience. I understand this was one of those random incidents that can happen to everyone at any place but I truly believe that with a better system of operations and management supervision you can avoid these types of incidents. read more

After giving it some thought and time, I decided to up a star to this place. When shopping be very attentive at the photos for the items. Pay attention to the items listed partial versus open box and factory sealed. Your best bet is factory sealed but those items are rare. Most of the open box items are okay. I've been able to purchase patio furniture the last few auctions. Even that being said the items I received required time to put together. The furniture itself is fine. Albeit there are ever so slightly "wobbly" legs on some of the chairs they are still fairly well put together and no one will be falling off. A few chair leg pads (Amazon sells these) can remedy this. Altogether I've bought retail price $700 plus of patio furniture for roughly $170. It's still a gamble purchasing items on auctions don't get me wrong but with some luck and a keen eye you can score some decent stuff. read more

I am updating the review to four stars in light of loveseat removing their handling fee as of this week's auction. The service fee is now 25% which is reasonable for these auctions and the great deals you can find here. The only thing keeping the 5 stars from happening is the inconsistency between what is listed and what is received. For instance; I bought a dining table, the "appears new" listing photos showed the closed box, then the opened box with a hardware package and a leg package. When the item was received the leg package and hardware package were no longer there. This issue is a fixable operational problem happening somewhere between photos and the warehouse door pickup. There return policy, even when they agree with you that they sold you something completely not what described is ridiculous!! You have to jump through hoops to get it. Once you return the item---very tight window of ability to do so--they attempt to not refund you by you having to wait and then provide information as to whether or not the did or do not refund your money.
