I've tried to call/email the office since Sunday and have not received a response. When I finally tried the billing department I spoke with someone who was incredibly sweet and helped me out. I just needed an itemized receipt for my FSA. Turns out they never charged out one of my daughters. I had an extremely disturbing experience at Lovett Dental in Katy Mills that left me feeling dehumanized and humiliated. I came in as an emergency walk-in in severe tooth pain, visibly distressed, after being told by both the office and my insurance that this location accepted walk-ins and emergencies, first time here. I had already been redirected from another location that was unexpectedly closed in Katy, I drove further out to The Katy Mills location while in pain to be seen. When I arrived, I was met with a complete lack of empathy. The front desk staff, two ladies whom one said she's the manager spoke to me with attitude, showed no urgency, and treated me like an inconvenience rather than a patient in pain. I was asked to complete forms on my phone, which I did quickly, but after submitting them, I was left waiting with no communication even though I was the only person in the lobby while one was on her phone and the other lady on a call When I calmly asked how long it would take to be seen, the situation escalated quickly unnecessarily. Instead of reassuring me or giving me a timeframe, within 1-2 minutes of interacting with them the other lady called the police in which I was shocked for what?. They came out from behind the desk , and start asking me to leave while I was still seeking emergency dental care. Even locked the door at one point and had to let out one patient who was seen. If they have a camera all that I said will be seen I want to be very clear: I did not raise my voice, use inappropriate language, or behaved aggressively. I was in pain and asking for help. I have video of the interaction. I was not disruptive Being treated this way in a healthcare setting especially while vulnerable was deeply distressing. When police arrived, I was told the business had the right to refuse service, with no empathy. As a patient sent here by my insurance, this was shocking never have I experienced something like this before. This experience felt discriminatory, humiliating, and completely unprofessional. No patient, especially someone in visible pain should ever be treated this way or denied care without cause. I strongly caution others seeking emergency or compassionate care I will be filing formal complaints with the dental board and my insurance company. read more

The manager Jeannie at the Katy Mills office is absolutely a doll. She is so professional, a sweetheart, very compassionate and understanding. My husband had to have a root canal along with lots more work and she made sure everything went well and he was comfortable this will definitely be my family's dental place. there was no pressure and she tried to help us all kind of ways of saving money, no kind of upsell or selling us BS very honest and straightforward. Incompetent and rude. The dentist and her assistant chattered away in Spanish over me as if I were an inanimate object. She refused to clean my teeth at all because I wouldn't pay for the "deep cleaning," so I missed my scheduled cleaning which meant more buildup when I finally went to a competent dentist. And the final straw was that they took a "break" in the middle of doing my procedure and didn't mention that the "break" would be 30 minutes. They left me with nothing to do and no one to talk to as they chatted and ate in an adjoining room. Worst experience ever. God help you if you go here for dental care. read more

New to the area and needed a cleaning/annual exam. I booked an appointment for 3:45. After waiting 30 minutes I asked the receptionist how much longer it would be. She states I don't know probably 10 minutes there really backed up. I was finally brought back at 4:33 p.m. They did my x-ray and had me wear a child's cover. They took pictures of my teeth. The dentist came in and told me I would need fillings, crowns, etc. and he would schedule me to come back in for a cleaning. I have never been to a dentist where I had to wait almost an hour, not get my teeth cleaned, and pay $5 for a "PPE fee". The front desk is rude and in a hurry. Save your time and go somewhere else. They just want to UPSELL unnecessary services. Be Aware and stay away!!! ------------- I went to Lovett Dental Katy located at 1998 Katy Mills Blvd STE. D, Katy, TX 77494 on 05/22/2024. I can 100% relate to some of the complaints that other reviewers have mentioned. I have not had any tooth issues and I have been doing dental cleaning every 6 months without any issue for the past 6 years. Since I recently moved to Houston, so I went to Lovett Dental for basic cleaning. After dental hygienist and dentist examining, they are asking me to do "deep cleaning" which is not covered by my insurance and asking me to pay for ~$514 for "deep cleaning" which I know I don't need. I have been doing basic cleaning every 6 months similar if not less amount of plaque in my previous dental places. So I know for sure they are trying to UPSELL you. Obviously, working medical field I know something is not right, so I choose not to do the deep cleaning and requested to do the basic cleaning that my insurance covers, but they refused to do so. In addition, dentist also said that I have two cavities that needs to be fixed. When I asked to how bad the cavity is which means in what layers it is involved. Being friend of a dentist and a medical professional, I know it the decay (ie, cavity) is only minimally involve in enamel layers, you can probably just watch it and not do anything. (see some google picture for teeth anatomy and decay type if you like). Also, my last dental appointment 6 months ago, my dentist told me that I have absolutely no issue. Anyhow, when I asked the dentist what layer it is involve, she just told me she can't tell which I also find being deceptive as looking at x-ray she should be able to tell what layers it is involved. Again, they are trying to UPSELL. Again, I refuse the treatment and left the office with their itemized suggested treatment with billing code for the dental insurance company. Right after leaving the office, I called my dental insurance company and asked to see if those services were not covered. I have given exactly the billing code that they were gave me to the insurance company, and insurance company told me that those services were covered. When I confronted the front desk with insurance company representative on line (who also talked with them), the front desk couldn't really give proper answer other than throwing some billing jargon that doesn't make any sense. Overall, I feel this office is just scamming people by UPSELLing unnecessary treatment. I am going to complaints to Texas State Board of Dental Examiners. Attn: Investigations Division. 1801 Congress Ave., Suite 8.600. Austin, TX 78701. Email complaints to complaints@tsbde.texas.gov. I will also submit complaints to Lovett Dental if they really care about their brand reputation. I will urge everyone to complaints as it will take just few minutes of your time. I only went to this dentist while awaiting for our usual dentist to have their renewal complete to accept our insurance. It truly was one of the experiences that makes someone hate dental services. This appointment was for my son who is less than a year Old. The office was sooo busy and running 30 minutes behind. This makes things really rough for an infants schedule. On top of that, the front desk was honestly not the nicest and pretty unhelpful. Finally, the dentist didn't even introduce himself and was only with us for literally 45 seconds just to run around on my child's gums. He asked if I had any questions but this is my first child and I don't know what I don't know. Like give me advice or tell me next steps or something! Then the assistant that brushed his teeth and put the vitamins on at the end made a comment about how the dentista always have them do the brushing and vitamins so they're not the bad guys with the kids. The entire experience made me so anxious and I am one of those adults who had a traumatizing experience when they were a child and now am terrified of the dentist. I do not want that for my child. I can't wait to go back to Cinco Ranch Smiles and Braces for my son. They're the most empathetic and understanding team I've ever had. DO NOT GO HERE, DO NOT TAKE YOUR KIDS HERE. read more

Do not go to this dentist office at the Katy Mills Mall location...I repeat!!! I was under the impression that they were a knowledgeable office and treated me well but that was because they were more interested in taking my money up front not even sending a claim to my insurance and charged me $1715 for a deep cleaning , additional X-rays etc. ....... my husband has the exact same insurance as me .....his dentist at another location not Lovett Dental only charged him $89.00 for his cleaning and X-rays i was charged an additional $79.00 for X-rays which are covered every year by my insurance. I will not be returning to this office... They even went as far as saying that I have terrible bone loss which is completely FALSE per my orthodontist in Katy and said I needed more treatment in order to stabilize my mouth structure in order to get Invisalign. Thankfully I didnt read the reviews prior to going. I'm a self employed business owner with no dental insurance, so the whiney billing and insurance commets have no impact. Needed a root canal and crown, did a search and happened upon this office. Went in, paid up front and recieved great service. No complaints. Not sure if I had Dr Tho Nguyen or Henry Dao (regretfully I forgot to ask), but he was excellent, as was the young lady that took the x-rays and assisted with the root canal. Both were very personable. The Dr was exceptional at explanations and I actually learned a few things. The entire staff was friendly and called me by name the entire time. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! My 13 year old daughter had an appointment today to have 2 teeth extracted today and was going to be fully sedated. I went in 2 days prior to go over pre-op instructions and to make sure they got their money. Paid in full for the procedure. I felt uneasy about the place right away but with our insurance it was a huge hassle to even get to this point. We arrived this morning and greeted with a "have a seat." No "good morning" or "hello." I didn't say anything because it wasn't that big of a deal. 15 minutes after our appointment time a tall male nurse came out and asked for my daughter. Additional info: (My daughter has very high anxiety when it comes to dental work. She was already losing it in the car prior to us arriving. I calmed her down by telling her I would be in the room with her until she was asleep and everything was fine) I got up to go back with her and he told me I couldn't. I asked why and he told me that it was a liability because the room was so small. My daughter started to get upset again. He turned around and walked away without saying any more. I then asked the receptionist girl how a mom being present while her minor daughter is being sedated with a male dentist and nurse assistant was less of a liability than a "small room." She rudely commented back saying that is what the dentist wants so........ I told her I wasn't comfortable with any part of what was going on and that I would not be having any work done. She said "ok." No apology or anything. I said I needed a refund for the $790 I had paid the few days before. She pulled out a piece of paper and wanted to write all of my credit card info down on it and then told me it would take 3 months to process the refund!!!!! My father came to the appointment with us. At the point in which I was told it would take 90 days for the refund to get processed it started to get heated. I asked to speak to the office manager and this young girl came up and was even more rude than the receptionist. At one point her and my father were calling each other names. She called him a b*tch. Other ugly things were said on both ends but at no point did the office manager that should have had far better customer service/people skills apologize for the inconvenience or hassle. No refund was issued. I am having to dispute the charge with my credit card company which is also a hassle. I made a comment about calling the police and the office manager says "oh good I hope Chris comes." Clearly unhappy patients are such a big thing there that they are on first name basis with the cops. Nancy & Denise (office manager & receptionist) clearly fit in well at this dirty and trashy dental office. Everything happens for a reason and while it was a huge ordeal I knew I should have gone with my gut instinct when I came in the first time and opted to not move forward with everything. read more

We scheduled a cleaning for our 9 year old daughter. It was explained to us that she was too old for pediatric care. Then they told us that she was ok to come to the office for a cleaning. We arrive, then I was turned away because she was too old again. Today, they called to follow up as to why we missed our appointment for our "son." I proceeded to complain, but the service representative hung up on me. Do not take your child to this place. Geez it's so hard to rate this place. My wait time was AWFUL. My daughter had a 9a appointment, we were not called back until 9:40. I had to ask the front desk how much longer it would be. My daughter is two so it only took minutes to brush her teeth. As I'm writing this it's 10:04 and we are STILL waiting to see the dentist. The hygienist was friendly and knowledgeable. For the wait she gave my daughter two pens and a highlighter to color with. Thanks? The office is not superb. The exam room we were in was tiny, boring, nothing on the walls except marker where someone else's kid seems to have gotten bored. No fancy pictures, no tv, only the whistling noise of a drill a couple rooms away. There hallways are small and crowded with several totes, looks like they are moving in or out, I can't tell. My two star rating is because I didn't hate the place but coming back is questionable. 10:09 and still no dentist. Update: I ended up walking out of this place. I won't ever be back. The wait time to see my 2yr old day was outrageous. We didn't even get to see the dentist. To say I am pissed is an understatement. Review changes to 1 star because 0 stars doesn't exist. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTAL OFFICE! I came to this dental office for the first time only because I got a new job and my old dentist was not within my network of providers under my new insurance plan. Dr Tho Nguyen and Henry Dao (dental hygienist) recommended a deep cleaning which I did not need. When I told them I only wanted a regular cleaning, Dr Nguyen was extremely rude to me and he told me he could not due that. He got very defensive. He used some fake excuse claiming it was due to my insurance. He told me he could only due a deep cleaning and basically kicked me out of his office. He also told me I had bone loss and severe inflammation of the gum lining (all lies). When I called my insurance they told me this was a lie and he should not have denied me a regular cleaning. To make matters worse, I confirmed my suspicions with my old dentist! Yes I went back to my old dentist and paid out of pocket 2 weeks after my appointment with Dr Nguyen!! I no longer trust these guys! My old dentist told me I dont have any evidence of bone loss and no chronic inflammation. My gums are fine and healthy!! My old dental hygienist performed a regular cleaning and I am happy again. Dont listen to these guys they are just money hungry trying to steal money from you and your insurance company! Later on Lovett followed up with a phone call asking me if I wanted to come in for my deep cleaning, they had verified with my insurance and I had to pay $400 out of pocket. Ridiculous! I paid $130 for a regular cleaning without insurance at my old dentist! It is now clear to me these guys just want to steal money! Also Dr Nguyen recommended a mouth guard which I also dont need because I told him I already have one. Ohhh but of course he told me I needed a new one because that is more money right?? $$$$ All a bunch of lies!! I cant believe there are dentists like this out there. I went for a general cleaning which I do every six months. After waiting for over an hour they came with a treatment plan which cost almost 5,000. They told me I have to do deep cleaning, which I never needed before with other dentists and neede 4 crowns, imagine that. I asked for the general cleaning (which my insurance paid) and they said they can't do it. This place is a scam. I heard they recommend the same thing to other patients. Stay away from this place. My appointment was around 10 and I request to do a simple teeth cleaning but keep pushing me to pay random bill and suggesting other things for me to pay and do. This place is a scam and I will be reporting to BBB. I was looking for a new dentist around Katy area to get a clean and do the usual check up. Booked appointment for consultation and clean and was informed I will see hygienist and doctor. When I arrived I was told insurance will not cover X-rays as I already had then done. AfterX-rays I was told I needed crowns for my front teeth. None of my previous dentists have ever mentioned this. Bill was brought for crowns band they are Lumineers. $9K. Yelp wouldn't let me pick zero stars. Not happy and won't be back. Showed up for 10am appointments today with our 9 year old twins, our 7 year old, our 4 year old and our 1 year old. All but the 1 year old had appointments. We found out when we got there that the dentist wouldn't be in until 12p. No voicemails or calls prior to let us know. We also found out that the only days they have pediatric appts is on Tuesday. So much for all of the website advertisements for great hours and flexibility. Worst dental experience ever. The one star will be for the front desk lady who was nice. This happened today: as a new patient: After the system crashing they couldn't take pictures. Then the dentist looked in my mouth.. Just by a visual exam the he said I needed a deep cleaning which I shouldn't get bc I'm pregnant. He left it up to me even though my letter from my OBGYN said nothing other than routine clean and emergency. I said, well can you just do the regular routine cleaning then? He said, " well we can but it's the same as brushing your teeth". I told him then what's the point of coming here? He said, "exactly". Little did he know my mom is a retired dental hygienist and was appalled by my experience and what he said. The doctor didn't even use any tools to make the determination that I needed a deep cleaning. He also told me all of my top teeth are cracking and I need to wear a night guard?! I'm 31 and wear a rubber retainer every night. So bizarre just all of it. But we'll see... I'll be going tomorrow to pay out of pocket at a legit place to see if he is totally BS or just a little BS. read more
