I have received a 3rd bill for my ex-husband after receiving the first bill for him in October, i tried to call for DAYS and after FINALLY talking to the billing manager, I received an apology that they "try to catch these things before they are sent out", and was promised that I would not receive another bill. At this point, the billing is HARRASSMENT for a debt I don't owe. I am 100% no-contact with my ex, so not they are also in violation of HIPAA. If Smiles of Katy Dental need his address and phone number to bill him, feel free to reach out, cause I am not spending 3 days calling and waiting to talk to someone, AGAIN. read more

One phone call for a "free second‑opinion consultation" turned into an experience you try to forget. Nothing was mentioned about fees when scheduling, nothing was provided during the visit, and yet somehow a $200 bill appears weeks later. I wasn't planning to revisit this at all -- it was the kind of experience you mentally scrub off and move on from -- but the surprise bill dragged it right back into the light. The person who walked in looked so casual and unprofessional that I genuinely assumed he was a janitor passing through, not even a tech. He had to announce, "I'm the doctor," because nothing about his appearance or behavior suggested it. He was chewing bright blue gum with his mouth open, mumbling a song while looking into my mouth. Yes -- humming and chewing over a patient. That was my "consultation." He glanced at my own X‑rays, asked why I was "jumping from one doctor to another," demanded to know who my dentist was, and then told me to redo the root canal. That was it. No exam, no treatment, no value. I walked out after five minutes, and I made sure his assistant heard me say, "What a waste of my time." If anything, they should have paid me for being in that room. And instead of calling to clarify why a patient walked out disappointed, they sent a bill for a visit that was advertised as free. I guess when this is the level of professionalism you offer, surprise billing becomes the only revenue stream left. Pity. read more

The outside of the building looks modern rustic. The inside decor is great and very modern and clean! Staff was excellent in the way they took care of me and checked me in as a new patient. There is an online new patient form that is easy to fill out but may be slightly redundant. Otherwise the onboard process was quick and easy. My dental hygienist was Maggie and my dentist was Dr. Pham. Both were great and professional. Maggie helped ease in by explaining every process to me. It was a very in depth and comprehensive exam. Many X-rays, scans, pictures. All of which were on a screen in front of me so I could watch her perform each task. Also first time scanned for the pressure on my teeth to check for bite and uneven pressure distribution of my bite. They also offered fluoride and oral cancer screening at the end which was an additional charge. All in all professional, warm and inviting environment for all patients. I received a bill from this office, but I am not a patient. I contacted the billing office in October and was told that it was a mistake and that they would not bill me any further. I've received another bill for my ex-husband and it's obvious that they have poor billing practices and do not pay attention to HIPAA as they confirmed that my ex-husband was a patient and receive treatment. read more

I had the worst dental experience of my life at this office today. I cried for two hours and was shaking by the end of it. I'm still shaken up and feel and urge that this office can be avoided at all costs. Please go elsewhere. My experience was specifically front desk attendant and person who in charge of financials, Francis. I had an emergency appointment where my tooth fell out and I needed to get my permanent tooth in. Upon walking into the office I was told I needed to speak with someone before my appointment. I spoke with Francis who told me I still needed to pay a bill that was wrongfully sent to me since the insurance company made a mistake in billing. The office sent a refund to insurance from my account without ever informing me, and then sending me the bill to cover it. I explained to her that it was not my responsibility since the insurance company made a mistake, and that I needed my permanent tooth in since I'm missing a tooth and need it taken care of. Francis said I could not get care until I paid. At this point I am shaking as she did not care at all that I'm missing a tooth and only needed the bill to be paid that was not my mistake. She called me negligent and said I couldn't see the doctor for my missing tooth until the bill was paid. I told her I would report this matter and she rudely told me to go ahead and report. She did not care at all that I needed emergency care. I tried calling insurance to sort it out and was being put on hold. I was afraid to lose my appointment time and agreed to pay half in order to see the doctor. She told me I had no choice if I wanted to get my tooth but to pay. I was extremely shaken by this. I waited for the doctor for 1.5 hours and cried the entire wait. I did have two people (Fiola and Angie) check in with me to see if I'm ok. I finally saw the doctor and explained the extremely poor service from the Francis and from the office about my bill and follow up care. Dr.Morena was empathetic and took responsibility for the poor office communication. She replaced my tooth and told me I should not have been turned away just for a payment matter. This is only today. I also texted the office about pain I was having at a previous appointment and never received a response or follow up. I had to come back to the office multiple times for the same issue because they couldn't fit my permanent tooth correctly. I had to delay care for an emergency medical situation in my family and was berated by staff for not showing up in time. I have never been treated like this and no one should be. Dr.Morena mentioned that the office management is in flux. It's still not acceptable to treat patients like this. I did not plan to spend 2 hours crying at the dentist because someone treated me so poorly and being worried about getting my tooth fixed because of a bill that was wrongfully sent to me. I imagine the staff that is professional including Dr Morena will leave if this continues. I am still shaken. Please go to a practice where the office is better managed and care about patients instead of payment. read more

I'd like to follow up and ask how he's working to resolve the outstanding refund promised to me by Dr. Mora and my complete patient records, which I have requested in writing multiple times now. To date September 5th 2023 Dr. Mora, her office staff, nor her legal representatives have responded to myself, my attorney or any representative of mine to rectify the matter. This is the best dental office ever! I love Dr. Giang Nguyen! Dr. Nguyen has been my dentist for 3 years through RCT, EXT, PFX, CF, and SRP. He is kind, respectful, kenwledgable, a nd happy at all times. His staff are wonderful. Flore , and Gigi, nad Jessica are happy dental assistants. I cannot recommend a better office for your dental needs. A++ service!!! I would recommend Dr. Nguyen above other dentists in the area. This office has the lowest prices and the best refund policy. It is like shopping at Costco. If you are not satisfied by any means, please return to the office and ask for a refund. Dr. Nguyen has excellent bedside manners. My husband and I have been going to Smiles of Katy for many years under the care of Dr. Dolores Mora. My husband had an appointment recently and was not happy. Unfortunately, after starting this practice, I think it's been 25+ years ago, Dr. Mora apparently sold her practice. The current owners of the practice will not say what happened but I know the quality of care has gone way downhill. When Dr. Mora was there, we felt comfortable, at ease and confident we would receive the best care. We do not feel this way with the current practice and don't trust that they are being honest about the kind of treatment we need for our teeth. We now have to find a dentist we can trust the way we trusted Dr. Mora. read more

I normally don't write reviews weather it's good or bad. But beware of SMILES OF KATHY wish I could do ZERO STARS. Should rename their practice to LIES OF KATY. Came to this dentist because it was recommended by a friend worst mistake I ever made. After Dr did my filling started having pain when I ate anything crunchy. Came back 3x still didn't fix the problem. On the 4th visit asked for Dr M (owner of the practice)who I wanted to see in the first place. After explaining the problem and telling her that since the previous DR did the filling I was having problems. She was like yes we had a lot of complaints about him from other patients. She recommended I do a rooth canal and told me she would credit $800 towards the crown when I came back to her. Because they couldn't do the root canal at the office I had to go to a specialist. Did my root canal today called the office to set up the appointment for the crown and ask the person if it included my credit from Dr. M. she stated there was no credit. Came into the office and Dr M denied it to the end. she said that I mistake her saying tooth #18 for a $800 credit. I'm like really lady I deal in numbers on a daily basis I don't make those mistake. For a grown lady and a professional you should stand by your word. I lost all respect for her in a second. I have no problem paying for the crown it was the principal behind it stick to your word. I will be going somewhere else to have my crown completed. read more

The office was beautiful and clean, the staff was very polite and sweet. Dr Mora was very knowledgeable and quite a salesperson. Unfortunately I don't want to feel like anyone's dollar sign when discussing my health. She kept showing me her teeth and telling me "this is what you want", I'm 30 yrs younger and no it was not what I wanted, I just wanted 2 teeth filed down in length but she insisted I get 8 crowns spending 10k or she can't help me. Went back to my old dentist when they opened back up and problem solved, I'm happy with the results, kept my teeth and 9.5k. Shop around. read more

When I first visited this office I was impressed with Doctor Guttierrez's knowledge. Unfortunately, the office is deceptive in their practice. I was told my services would cost a certain amount, but then two months later was billed 400% more than the agreed upon out of pocket amount. When I called my insurer they assured me that my out of pocket expenses were a negotiated amount and that the dental office couldn't charge more than that. When I call the office now I get a run around and discover led they sent my account to a collections agency without ever making an earnest attempt to resolve my issue even though I called their office multiple times. I suggest if you do business with these folks you know your legal rights and have a good lawyer like me. I will be seeing these folks in court. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. This place is completely unreliable and they are liars, they only want peoples money. Two of my family members came here for teeth cleanings and just a general checkup on their teeth. While they were there one of my family members told me that they made her feel disgusting because they kept telling her how bad her teeth were and how she has soooo many cavities. They told her she had cavities on almost every tooth as well as she would be needing 3 root canals!?!. My other family member on the other hand was told that she had many cavities and would need root canals as well. We decided that we would go get another opinion because that is outrageous considering they took normal care of their teeth. Upon getting that second opinion we learned that one of them only had two cavities and the other only had one!! We will definitely never be going back to Dr. Mora and I suggest everyone steer clear of this place as well. Also their prices are insanely high! read more

I went there to get a 2nd opinion on a crown for my left front tooth... I do need that and actually the other front tooth has cracks also... she suggested I get all of my 6 top front teeth crowned for 8400. They were not even going to try to send it to insurance... I was told insurance wont pay for front teeth which i know is a lie cuz my old dentist gave me an invoice with Insurance paying for it... when i called back and told them I could not afford that and asked to see how much it would be for just the one that I NEED NOW and they needed to file it with my insurance ,they never called me back... so don't waste your time...I have to say I was so disappointed she seemed nice, had awesome credentials.. but I guess that shows ya they don't always mean anything. read more

Today was my first cleaning at Smiles of Katy. Since I am new to the area, and I went to my former dentist for years I was worried about finding another dentist and staff ( who could deal with my tiny mouth which is not very fun during cleanings, crowns,etc. ) I would give Dr. Gutierrez , Rosa and Brooke 10 stars if the site allowed. Everyone was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. From calling to set the appointment, being greeted upon arrival by Brooke to the cleaning with Rosa and the exam with the Dr - Everyone was wonderful. I enjoyed the relaxing massage chair too! I'm so glad I have found a dentist and look forward to continuing to come. I highly recommend Smiles of Katy. read more

My daughter, 21 years old at the time, was told she needed 2 crowns and we were assured it was covered by insurance. After the expensive procedure of the 2nd crown we got a letter from our insurance saying that the 2nd crown was not needed and they wouldn't cover it. This decision was made by other dental experts hired by the ins. Co. We talked with the manager at Smiles of Katy and I got the idea that it wasn't fair to have to pay for it since we were told it was covered and also that we didn't know which dental expert to believe? It's very rare that young people need crowns. I never got another bill. A year later, I get one from collections. You cannot trust this dentist. We listened to her, and trusted that all was covered and now look where we are. read more

Called Tuesday January 7th to make an appointment. Was told they would verify my insurance and call me back. Realized that night that my insurance changed so I called back the next day to tell them. Took new insurance information and told me to go online and fill out new patient paperwork and they would verify my insurance and call me back to schedule an appointment. I'm still waiting for them to call me back almost 3 full business days later. So if you are a new patient good luck getting an appointment.
