Great diner for breakfast! Food and service were good. Warehouse meal was a good hearty breakfast. The grits were good but I prefer mine more creamy. The fresh link sausage had some spicy kick to it, so if you don't like spicy food, steer away from that. Pancake was more yellow than what I'm use to. I guess it had corn meal in it? It was still fluffy and great pancake. Coffee was fantastic. The atmosphere was very old school diner with seating area and a bar counter. They also had a sign that they do online orders which is almost unheard of for old school mom n pop dives. Highly recommend and will try lunch in the near future!

Not impressed with their greasy, "world famous" dough burger. We stopped for lunch with a small group. It seems to be the place where locals go. The staff and owners were very hospitable though. It's just this dough burger was something from depression-era period. Apparently you can stretch using ground beef for several meals by sprinkling dough with a scant of beef then dropping it in a deep fryer to cook. It was also "loaded", meaning it included their chili, mustard and onions. I put more butter on my toast than they give chili. Sorry folks, while your customer was top notch, the food was not.

We love love love Lovick's! This restaurant, along with Smith's Cafe, is the oldest family owned restaurants in Kinston, NC. They were started and still continue to be ran by family! The food is excellent and their staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They recently did some renovations to the building and it looks amazing. They continue to sell their famous dough burgers, which I'm not crazy about but a lot of people love them. I stick to their traditional breakfast and regular meals like hamburger steak. The next time you are in Kinston make sure you check out this morning food spot! You won't be sorry!

We both ordered the Western omelet. They had a generous portion of bacon, ham, cheese, tomato chunks, mushrooms, onions and green peppers. I had the grits and biscuit as my sides. As a "grits snob" I was impressed with the texture and flavor.. My biscuit could only have been better if I had asked for home style gravy. It was good with butter and grape jelly. My wife had home fries and toast as her sides. The flavor was good, but she wasn't happy with the temperature- they were on the cool side. We both got orange juice and we're surprised when we were handed a bottle. The wait staff quickly got us two glasses with ice and we had more than enough juice for either of us. Service was quick, in spite of the crowd that was in the cafe. We were told that we had picked a good time (about 9:45 AM) to come eat. There had been a long wait line for most of the morning! We were seated within a few minutes of our arrival. The cafe was just like you'd find in most small towns across America. Nothing exceptional, just a touch of simplicity.

My aunt and cousin joined in on the fun, and it was my cousin's first time as well. Some in our party got the meatloaf, and exclaimed over how delicious it was. I got the parm chicken with rice, which was a little dried out and disappointing. Enter Yoder's cabbage and Dutch potato sides to save the day! Both were absolutely delicious! The cabbage was perfectly cooked and well-seasoned. I was delighted to find they were spicy, with visible red pepper flakes. The Dutch potatoes were creamy and cheesy...a new fave! The roll with the cinnamon butter was a treat indeed. And the tea? We like ours half & half...delivered in big cups with extra ice just the way we like it! I also got an English Toffee Latte to go...and it did not disappoint. Neither did the waitstaff, who were friendly, engaging and ensured our food was delivered with a smile. We left with slices of chocolate, coconut cream, and pecan caramel pie, a loaf of sourdough, and a mocha brownie treat for later. Ohhhh, and a ginormous cinnamon roll, cause why not?! The interior of Yoder's restaurant is a rustic place with a lovely shop to wander through while you wait to be seated. They have a lovely bird in the store that will sing you a song and tell you what the cat and the rooster say. So charming! All in all, I've been hearing about Yoder's for years and years...and it did not disappoint! Can't wait for a return visit!

After arriving a few minutes early we were told it would be "a bit" before they could seat us. "A bit" turned out to be more than an hour and even then they sat us at multiple tables throughout the restaurant. After being seated, we were promptly ignored. Fifteen more minutes went by before our sullen, unpleasant server took our drink orders and eventually our breakfast orders. She was not only extremely slow and inattentive, but blatantly disrespectful to one member of our party by rolling her eyes and making gestures when she thought we couldn't see her. Once our order was placed, we waited then waited more. We had decided to leave if our food had not arrived by 12pm and go to Bojangles in Vanceboro, but at 11:50, over three hours after arriving, our food finally showed up. My omelet was enormous and overflowing with ground sausage. It was OK, but would have been better with less sausage. My shredded hash browns were cold. The biscuit that accompanied the omelet was cold and hard. My dining companion liked her french toast, but noted her eggs, though properly prepared over medium, were cold. Same goes for her home fries. However, the buttery syrup, served with her french toast, was served warm and was absolutely amazing. Wow! It made my biscuit edible and was the best part of our meals. The restaurant is attached to a hardware store in a rural part of Craven County. It definitely has a country vibe and was spotless. Incredibly slow and disrespectful service combined with OK-at-best food make it difficult to recommend Voder's Dutch Pantry in any capacity to anyone.

The restaurant itself has a cozy, eclectic atmosphere with interesting décor that makes it feel like a hidden gem tucked away in downtown Washington. It's as if they have somehow managed the flavors of a Michelin restaurant with plating that isn't so... boring and sterile. Portion sizes are more than adequate, none of that one taste nonsense here. The service is always fantastic, professional and friendly. The owner is occasionally willing to share recipes with you and has never disappointed me with a recommendation. The cocktails? Just "wow". I let him know the food was great, home cooked and good portions. The one thing that ruined the evening was the RUDE waitress, he walked up to the table and before he could sit down she bought my drink out, she asked what will you have to drink, he's looking confused and responds still standing, well what do you have? She rambles all the options so fast I'm not sure he understood all but made a choice. Then he sat down. She came back and slid it on the table like a fly by.. Soon she bought a hush puppy basket they were cold, I dare not complain she was so nasty and distant. Next she came back, order book open and I was like it's his 1st time, she didn't say anything, she just looked out the window and waited, so we just knew we needed to order, so I named my meat before I could finish SIDES??then he simply asks did they have bone in chicken ( I didn't know he was going to ask or I would have told him beforehand) she says no we have , fried chicken breast tenders, sisco chicken etc, she named every chicken dish on the menu without taking a breath.. I can give her props for knowing that..we both were looking at her confused and she never looked at us it was always "looking out the window " He said just give me "Flounder " one piece or two??? He replies one, SIDES??? Like we needed to be on point. She took the menus and left. She asked the questions she needed but was mean, not engaging and just rude. The WAY she asked.. When our food came this waitress walked by and literally slid our food on the table in a way that was like HERE! And kept walking I don't even think she stopped when she put them on the table she may have slowed down. We had to reach towards the end of the table to slide our plates in front of us. We both looking at each other in agreement she just nasty! The next time she came back she walked by and sat down a half glass of refill for his drink, she hadn't asked she just did it, suppose he wanted a glass of water? When we put our forks down she came over to get his plate and bought me a to go box as I still had half my food on my plate and she left the ticket. She didn't say is there anything I can get you or anything the entire time. He put his pymt with the ticket and put it on the edge of the table, I hadn't been in a while so I forgot we would pay on the way out. She was cleaning the floor near us and slid our ticket/pymt farther on our table, as if it was in her way, again he's confused so he said this is ready and she let him know to pay up front. I have never experienced such a nasty waitress at this restaurant and because of this I probably will never go back. I don't like not feeling comfortable and welcomed in a place where my money and time is going into. I started to complain before I left but in reality I don't think it would have mattered, and we left a tip not as much as we would have if she was more pleasant. I don't know whether she was having a bad day, a long day or to take it personal but I can't deal with attitude like that and won't take a chance on it again. This man drove a hour to experience this was just unbelievable!!!!
