It's been a long time since I've used Yelp, but I had an experience today that I just had to share. I had ordered two large desserts ahead of time through FATD's catering menu; and when I went to pick up my order this morning, one of the desserts (a custom cake) hadn't made it to their production line. It was a special cake for my niece's graduation, so it was important to have for our family celebration. This could have been a sad story, but FATD staff went above and beyond to make their error right. All of the staff, esp the Sunday morning manager (who I'm sorry I didn't catch his name) were so great and made sure that I left with a comparable cake to serve at our graduation party. Above and beyond customer service--there's no other way to describe it. I was already a fan but today they earned my family's business for life. Stopped at Farmer and the Dail to grab some breakfast on our way to Goldsboro from Greenville. My husband got the favorites box which had several biscuits and an apple fritter with a bowl of grits. He really enjoyed it and every bite I had was very good. I ordered the chicken minis with the angel biscuits. I thought the biscuits were a little salty and they fell apart so easily but the one in my husbands box with the garlic/cheese biscuits were delicious so i think i just got a messy batch! The amount of baked goods I wanted was crazy. We should've brought a cooler so I could grab some cake slices and cookies. I am still very new to North Carolina and was in search of a bakery in the Snow Hill area. Low and behold on the outskirts of the country ! The Farmer and The Dail came highly recommended for their delicious baked goods and southern breakfast. My family lives in the area and gave the 2 thumbs up. I placed an online order for a birthday cake to celebrate my mom's 70th. We visited today after noon and jumped in line to place our brunch order and pick up the cake. We decided on the FATD breakfast bowl that comes with hash browns, a biscuit, grits and bacon. I have been wanting to try their famous biscuit bombs. I decided on the bacon bomb. I have never had a biscuit so pillowy soft and delicious! This place is perfection ! My mom's birthday cake was also equally as delicious. She enjoyed how light and airy the cake was, how decadent the frosting was. How beautifully decorated ! We will be regulars here when in the area visiting loved ones. Dropped in here for breakfast on a Sunday not knowing that the menu is limited. I had the sausage biscuit bomb which I wouldn't likely order again as there really isn't much flavor, just a super dense biscuit, mild sausage and cheese. I was shocked at how flavorless the whole thing was. Why am I still giving this place 4 stars you ask? My girlfriend had the chicken minis which were delicious because the biscuits were seasoned and the chicken was perfectly cooked. There were so many baked goods on display that all looked amazing and their regular menu looks super promising. The environment is super welcoming and there is a huge sunflower field outside for photo opps. So 4 stars for potential. I will be back to try once again, just never on a Sunday. read more

Favorite spot we've tried yet! We are new to this area and were so pleased to be recommended this gem in what feels like the middle of nowhere! The space itself is very inviting, with lots of big tables. Very family friendly. Everything we've tried so far has been delicious! Our last trip we went for dinner and I will say I think I had the best salad I've ever had. My husband's brisket melt was also delicious. For dessert I chose the raspberry white chocolate cheesecake and was so pleased. I love how they have take-home options too. The cinnamon rolls are incredible. The staff has been kind and organized despite how chaotic it can get in there since people order a lot of food! I regularly see staff out making sure the space is clean and that things remain organized and stocked. Absolutely will be coming back. read more

I come here plenty when I'm in town and always look forward to coming as well. The food is usually great and the coffee is amazing. Today I bought my daughter a mini Bundt cake as a surprise for her, as I opened the box I smelled straight rotten egg. I had my mother smell it as well and surely she said it smelled rancid. I have heard nothing but good things about this spot. But was I stunned in my experience. I went and hour out of our way to go to breakfast which is served until 11:30 and we placed our order at 11:18 with our party of 5. As we placed our order my first disappointment was they were out of chicken. One person not getting what they wanted. We placed the rest of our order and sat down and waited for over 15 minutes for our order to arrive. At that point I was told that they could not fill my order of Sausage Gravy on Biscuit because they ran out of Biscuits. This was the item I came for. She told me I could order something else after everyone else had been served. I then ask if I could get Sausage Gravy over Toast. She went back to the kitchen and if a few minutes brought two pieces of bread with cold coagulated gravy smeared on top. It was not worth tasting and I threw it away. I thought several eyes had seen it make it way from the kitchen to the table and if they thought that was good county cooking then we might as well leave. Seasoning is subjective but I do think they really love salt there. read more

I don't understand why this location doesn't have 5 stars?! It's hands down the best breakfast I've ever had. Coming from a southern bell who LOVES breakfast, this says a lot. We visited on a holiday (July 4th), and the parking lot was full, so I didn't have the best expectation. However, this place soared past all my expectations! From the environment, to the food, to the cleanliness, to the staff. 10/10! They have a small play area for kiddos too with toys, and books. I had been wanting to try this place for a while. My place of work would order us biscuit bombs for special occasions and they were always the best especially the sausage and cheese. The desserts on social media always look delicious so I was excited about trying it. First of all we arrived and there was very little direction. We went to the "start here" at the back of the place and were told to go back to the front where menus were supposed to be-they were not. Went back to the counter young lady gave us a menu. We ordered the Hobo breakfast which was three eggs cooked with sausage and cheese, grits and sourdough toast. Husband got his with biscuit and hash brown casserole. The eggs, grits, and hash brown casserole were delicious. The toast was not toasty at all more like a soft piece of bread. The biscuit was burnt and did not have a biscuit texture. It was kind of rubbery. My husband was disappointed in that. Your breakfast arrives to your table in a plastic box (not very "climate" friendly as almost EVERYTHING is in a plastic container) but it was hot and delicious except for the breads. We did get some Apple Jacks and they tasted like they had been fried in old grease. They have potential to be very good. The cost is pretty high $45.00 for two breakfast entrees, 2 coffees and the Apple Jack deal. A quart of collards is $18.00. Chicken salad looks delicious and seems to be priced good. You can buy biscuit bombs to take home and bake. I might try that. The decor is a little confusing. Farm style family style tables, stained cement floors but then the rest of the decor feels like you are in a class in a daycare. Not the country farmhouse style you would expect. Service was okay. I visited Farmer and The Dail recently when I was in the area. I'd heard good things and was looking forward to trying it out. I was expecting table service, so was surprised when I entered and saw that customers order at the counter. Once you order, they call the order number out over a microphone, so the room has a steady volume of noise in addition to the noise of the customers. It makes for a chaotic atmosphere. I ordered biscuits and gravy and a drip coffee. It was funny when I asked for milk for my coffee at the counter and the girl behind the register asked if I wanted the cup filled halfway. Maybe she was new or just not a coffee drinker. Both the food and the coffee were fantastic. The coffee was very good, even though it was in a carafe away from the counter, it was still hot and fresh. The biscuit was flaky and buttery and the sausage gravy was top notch. Unfortunately they serve all of their food in plastic disposable containers. It was frustrating to see all of the trash being produced. A lot of restaurants and grocery stores are starting to use compostable takeout containers and cups, it would've been great to see at least that - or, even better, to eat on a real plate with actual utensils. All of the waste also meant that the trash cans were full to overflowing and that's not a good look. And, even though there were plenty of people working, it didn't seem like the tables were getting washed. Bottom line, the food and coffee were great, but the atmosphere needs a lot of work. I heard so many great reviews and finally decided to give this place a try while visiting my family in NC. I ordered the popular chicken minis and the apple jacks. The chicken minis were tasty. The chicken was juicy and perfectly seasoned, however, the actually biscuit was a little bit dry for my liking. The apple jacks were absolutely delicious! The apples were fresh and plentiful. It was even better warmed up and served with ice cream. If you do go I would recommend ordering ahead on their website as the crowd can get big, especially on the weekends. What a beautiful and impressive cafe! I had read about how wonderful Farmer and the Dail is, and I have to say that this place did not disappoint! The building is gorgeous, and I loved the mural! They bakery case held a breathtaking array of delicious cake slices and pastries! Because that's what I came to see, I left with an impressive array of goodies! The cheesecake brownie was excellent! Moist and not too sweet, it was one of the best such pastries I have ever eaten. The donuts looked gorgeous, and it was hard to pick just one...but I did. Brought home the fruity pebbles donut, and my son gobbled it up before I even got a chance to taste it! Smelled good, though. The cinnamon sugar croissant was amazing!!! No need to say anything else. I loved the sweet potato scone. It was flavorful, and not as dry as some scones can be. I would order that again with a good cup of coffee! The one miss for us was the blueberry muffin. There was a hint of something (maybe nutmeg?) that detracted from overall taste. Could just be my tastebuds, though, because I have a sensitivity to nutmeg. This place is a gem! This place is so good that I ride my motorcycle two hours from Raleigh to eat breakfast here. Their breakfast menu is top notch! From biscuit bombs to mini biscuits to their grits, everything is delicious and very reasonably priced. I have yet to try their new added breakfast and lunch items yet, but I look forward to coming back to try them. The service is friendly and pretty fast considering they are always super busy. The atmosphere is casual, friendly and you feel the local vibe. There is ususally a line but it moves relatively fast. You order at the counter and they call your name when your order is ready. I'm so glad that they've been doing well these past years and even moved to a bigger location. If I lived closer than two hours, I would definitely be a regular! read more

So let me start with I really enjoyed the small market out front. Picked up a shirt, dress, and door hanger! Excited for my purchases. So let's get to the actual restaurant. First, it was NOT like I expected. I thought it would have table service but instead you wait in line to pass by all the baked goods. Scrumptious with a capital 'S'! This is like quintessential, down-home style cookin' at its best! It is taking some of the best parts of Southern breakfast (which was what I got experience) hyper stuffed in a flavorful, sultry little meal that will leave you wanting more. The chicken biscuit I had was excellent: chicken was packed with flavor and juicy with a wonderful crisp fried breading, the biscuit was voluptuous and rich, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside; the cheese stood out as flavorful and not some afterthought either. Also had the best blueberry and lemon muffin I've had in my life - period! The lemon was present and satisfying without being over-pronounced. Every single food item my family has tried is delicious, but I always come back for the ham and sweet potato minis, hash brown casserole, breakfast bowl, cakes, maple cream cheese cinnamon rolls...ok fine I can't single out any item. Not only is the food fantastic, this place is literally the Disney World of eastern North Carolina. The people here are so patient and kind, even during stressful busy times.
