    chili cheeze fries
    Delanie M.

if we lived in indiana, loving cafe would be a regular spot for us. the meal we had was warm, delicious, and just as the name states - loving. we felt good after this meal. simple as that. everything that came out was fresh and hot. the chili cheeze fries and golden soup came out first. the chili was savory, slightly sweet, and hearty. the cheese melted very well and the fries were the perfect balance of soft and crisp. i read rave reviews about the golden soup and it did not disappoint. the soup was thick, creamy, and flavorful. the curry and coconut flavors were subtle. i ordered the sesame sweet and sour plant nuggets and my partner got the tofu jackpot sandwich. the lettuce on the sandwich was so crisp and fresh, the tomato was juicy, the tofu seasoned well, and the sauce..... amazing. the sweet and sour nuggets were crispy and the veggies were the perfect cook and consistency. we got a carrot cake slice to go which i did not like at all but the main meal itself was so good it doesn't change my rating. we were so full and happy.

Yelp again to the rescue in helping me find this quaint little organic and vegan!! café in FW. I dropped in to get dinner to take home late afternoon. I ordered at the counter with a very helpful woman who explained several menu items to me. She noted that they also offer gluten free choices, as well. Their varied menu would certainly suit any diet! I ended up with two avocado spring rolls and a raw taco salad. I sat at a table for my very short wait and the kind waitress asked if I needed plastic ware or napkins, which I very much appreciated. No sense in adding more to my overflowing drawer! My items were packaged neatly and I was even more impressed with the Greenmore takeout clamshell. I commend any restaurant that makes an effort to help the environment. I couldn't resist trying one of the spring rolls in the car. They were huge; and all the ingredients were quite fresh. It was like a rolled salad. The real star was the dipping sauce...so flavorful! When I got home, I dug into my salad. The "meat" is made with seasoned walnuts and I was truly impressed with how realistic the flavor was. The kale chips seasoned with nooch were the perfect topper. The dressing was a raw ginger sauce with a light and tangy taste. This place really is lovely, and I'll be sure to return again soon!

Listen. I was so skeptical to try this place because I've had vegan food before and it's a hit or miss. They did not disappoint!!! Here's what I ordered: -Vegan Steak Pepper: omg my absolute favorite. So flavorful and the veggies and rice beautifully compliment this dish. A+++++ -Spicy Wingz: yum! These are like boneless wings or strips but they are fantastic. Couldn't stop eating. The vegan ranch that pairs with it is outstanding. I opted for extra Wingz instead of the soup. -Oatmeal Raisin cookie: with only 3 ingredients this cookie definitely packs a punch! So delicious without a bunch of junk. I was completely satisfied with my meal and will be back to try more. What sealed the deal for me was when the lady behind the counter added some extra items for my children to our meal and brought our food outside to us. My new favorite spot!

I eat here once a week usually. Tonight I tried their BBQ wings that comes with a soup. I always get the golden soup. The wings are huge. 6 of them with celery and soup. Easily shareable. Comes with a version of ranch dressing but TBH taste like Mayo. I also asked for their honey mustard dressing and I loved it. Must try meal. Sooo good. Tastes just like chicken.I always get a cup of soup which is always amazing. All of them are but my favs are golden soup and mushroom pistachio. My GF usually changes her dishes up but honestly we haven't had one thing that doesn't taste good. All ingredients are fresh and made to order. Dine in or carry out and they're always always busy. Great service great owners. Locally owned and very clean. It's my favorite place to eat in town. Hands down.

I'm telling you this dish (Raw French Fries - avocado) could be served at any upscale restaurant. Everything was fresh and perfectly seasoned, prepared and as you can see beautifully presented!

Spring Rolls Tiny cozy place to eat! The lady at the front counter was friendly! The food was hot, fresh, and delicious! The pho soup had thick yummy noodles with alternative meat that taste is just as good as meat. The price wasn't too bad either.

Best vegan food in Fort Wayne! I have eaten there three times and been impressed With everything I have tried! They do a good job with everything and there is nothing on the menu I wouldn't recommend!

800 Degrees - sometimes you just want salad with a little pizza taste…read more 800 Degrees isn't far from our home so it's an easy stop for salad and a taste of pizza. It is located in the far east end of the strip mall opposite of the Starbucks and Walmart off Lima/Dupont road. It's a large restaurant so it can easily accommodate larger parties. You order at the cash register and then the servers will take care of the rest. They do have a bar side on one side of the restaurant that has a TV to watch the game. I think their alcohol selections are rather limiters though. On this occasion we ordered a Pirelli and salads. The Pirelli is a delicious "non-pizza" pizza option. The ring of dough is very tasty. It is soft and slightly sweet. The wood fired baking gives it a nice Smokey flavor with a slightly crisp exterior. The inside is full of oozing mozzarella cheese and sweet marinara sauce. You have to love when fresh mozzarella oozes and is almost so thick that you need a fork to cut it. The two salads pictured are a Caesar and Mista salad. You can get them in half and full sizes. The half size is enough for a meal if you are going to accompany it with a pizza or Pirelli. The salads are always fresh. They never drench the salad in too much dressing. The dressings are usually very in mild flavor so it accents the salad instead of dominating it. One of the memorable parts of dinning at 800 Degrees is the freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. These free cookies are ready to accompany you home. Give 800 Degrees a try. They make a good change of pace from your normal pizza place. You will enjoy their friendly service and relaxing/casual atmosphere.

I…read morecontend that 800 Degrees is far and wide the best pizza in Fort Wayne, but after our last fiasco about two years ago when the presumed owner acted like a sanctimonious jackass, we have not been back. Fast forward to today and the house hottie wanted to do the humble thing and give them another go (Against my better judgement, but I digress... Happy wife, happy life). I've inexplicably gotten a gluten sensitivity about a year ago (which sucks), so we ordered two GF pizzas. The pizzas are literally half the size of their standard Neopolitan pizzas along with a $4.00 up-charge for GF, totaling $51 for carry-out (just two tiny skimpily topped pizzas, nothing else)... This is a joke right? While the pizzas were good (not as good as their Neopolitan), $51 is laughable and frankly insulting. Wow, this is some "bold" customer price gouging and should piss-off anyone that orders their GF pizza... Albeit I wouldn't expect anything less coming from the guy that treats his customers like ill repute. Needless to say, we are officially done with 800 Degrees... From bad customer treatment to getting bent by over like a cheap Vegas hooker via price gouging, 800 Degrees and its pompous owner can get bent. This is such a travesty because 800 Degrees is an outstanding pizzeria, but there are other solid pizzerias in Fort Wayne that deserve our business because they don't do either of the above. Good riddance.

Tasteful decor, albeit the bar, patio (seasonal, of course), or main dining area. Choice of booth or table seating. Can be a bit noisy, when tables of patrons forget they're not the only guests in the room, but not to the level that drowns out your own table conversation. Service is usually impeccable and Kiersten (our server the past 2 visits) exemplifies that: knowledgeable, attentive but not intrusive, kind, efficient, pleasant. Hubby had the not-your-ordinary wedge salad as a starter (pictured). Bacon, tomato, bleu cheese crumbles, hard boiled egg, and a creamy balsamic dressing. Very tasty! Me, always a sucker for good French onion soup (pictured), which I always order with no bread or croutons. Broth has authentic rich flavor with just the right amount of simmered onions. The only thing that might have made it even better would have been the use of Gruyere (or Swiss, instead of what seemed to be mozzarella) for the cheesy melt topping the delicious soup. Our chosen entrees tonight were the cashew crusted Mahi Mahi (pictured) served with orzo and fresh green beans, and the seared tuna (pictured) served on an umami blend of Napa cabbage and broccoli lightly dressed in sesame ginger, just-right heat, and peanuts. SO good! Oh...and you can see by the pics that the portions are well presented and generous enough to have some for lunch the next day! Truly a local fav! Great place for lunch or dinner!

Black Canyon (Dupont & Lima Roads) - consistently good dinning experience…read more Black Canyon is located on the very east end of the strip mall located near the Dupont & Lima road intersection. It can be found across the parking lot from Buffalo Wild Wings. There is always plenty of parking near the door. The restaurant is large with an inviting & modernly decorated bar and dinning area. The team here is very friendly and professional. They never disappoint. Making reservations on line is easy. I would definitely recommend reservations! On this night we were seated in the indoor-outdoor dining area. This area is more open, well lit and less intimate than the man dinning area. There were two large groups (12 and eight) seated in this area - nice for larger gatherings. You have a nice view of the lit outdoor fire place. BC has a very large menu. There is something for everyone. Overall BC is rather pricey but not as expensive as some. We started with our favorite corn bread appetizer. It's a simple 2-3 person dish. The bread is more like a southern cake than a traditional corn bread. The inside is soft, sweet and moist. The whipped butter is fluffy, smooth and makes a delicious accent to the corn bread. My wife ordered the southwest grilled chicken salad. She said the chicken was perfectly grilled and moist. The lettuce and fixings were very fresh. The dressing was very light and had a hidden cayenne pepper kick. The salad seemed to grow as you got to the bottom of the bowl - lol. My house salad was also very fresh. Plenty of side items to accent the lettuce. The buttermilk ranch dressing is somewhat unique. It has a smooth and light buttermilk texture without a strong buttermilk flavor. There are hints of ranch dressing flavors. Nicely done! I ordered the BC meatloaf. This was a mountain of deliciously blended types of meats, onions, peppers & spices. You could pick up the short rib, brisket, bacon and ground chuck flavors. The collection was moist, nicely spiced & seasoned and delicious! There was plenty of fresh and perfectly steamed broccoli - nice crisp. The Mac & cheese side was done to perfection! Nicely cooked noodles along with a very smooth & creamy white cheese sauce. It was so delicious that I had to scrap the sauce from the bottom of the dish. Overall, Black Canyon is an outstanding place to dine. You always feel special whether it's a special occasion or just dinner out. Time in and time out...food & service are outstanding!!

Lucky Moose (DuPont & Coldwater Roads) - big menu, seeming less flavors that I would expect…read more I have visited the Lucky Moose three times in the last 5 months. I have not posted as I have been collectively evaluating their products. The Lucky Moose is located in a strip mall on the south side of DuPont road across from Kroger. Most times there is plenty of lot parking. Though this can be a challenge on busy dine out nights when Ziano's, Cebolla 's and the Moose are busy. At times Lucky's has had a good 30 minute wait. I think this is less likely since Union Social opened up the street. The Moose has a very large and diverse menu. There is something for everyone. The service always seems to be friendly. The restaurant is fairly large with a smaller bar area. I personally find the booths, that seat four, to be somewhat small. This can be uncomfortable if you have have four adult diners. On this visit we started with the fried veggie basket. This, like other appetizers I've ordered here recently, seem to come out deeply fried and tough in texture. The inside veggies were soft and fresh. The pieces weren't very big. The breading was thick and slightly oily to taste. Overall, you don't get much flavor to go along with the thick, hard and a bit oily breading. My wife had the fish tacos. She said they tasted fresh. No fishy taste. She noted that the tacos lacked seasoning that would help distinguish this Lucky Moose product. This characterization is somewhat typical of other entrees I had here. The Lucky Moose has a good variety of selections that can be made into a pizza or flat bread (see attached picture). This option was about $16. The menu says it takes about 29 1/2 minutes to make. The waitress said to plan on 40 minutes - just be aware, which was okay with me! This pizza is a "deeper" dish pizza. I'm not sure I would call it true deep dish as that implies a style with certain expectations. This was really just a really thick pizza served in a deep dish style pan. The crust tasted like a biscuit. I'm not sure if that is unique to this more southern BBQ style dish or if all pizzas have this type of biscuit crust. I was really expecting a more traditional pizza style dough taste. The worst part of the crust was that it came out REALLY hard when eaten hot and fresh. This was so hard that I had toncutbitbwith a knife. This was very different as left overs which I will explain later. The sauce was a very mild BBQ flavor. It had a moderate amount of sweetness and very little spiciness. Not bad. The down side here is that the sauce dominated the chicken and cheese taste when served fresh and really hot - but not that way as left overs. The hot BBQ sauce was so prevalent that I couldn't detect any smoked chicken flavors. The mozzarella cheese flavors got buried in the hot temperature BBQ sauce also. Overall, I was not pleased with my dinning selection. However, this somewhat changed when it became leftovers. Cold Pizza Test - I normally save some pizza to eat for breakfast. My preference is to eat it without being reheated. However, this is a deeper dish product. So I microwaved the pizza, that had been refrigerated for about 32 hours, for 45 seconds. During this time the BBQ sauce "soaked" into the crust and really softened it up. The sauce took a back seat to the chicken and cheese. I could now detect a nice Smokey flavor in the moist chicken. The mozzarella now thickened and provided that nice bed of cheese that you'd expect on a pizza. The 45 second reheated product was very tasty. A softer crust and mild BBQ flavors that enhanced the chicken and cheese. I believe the dramatic difference was due to the overly hot temperature by which the original pizza was cooked. Just my opinion. You visit and make your decision.
