We used dr Westbrook a few years ago when our nearly 16yo dog was ready to cross the rainbow bridge She came to our home, greeted all his furry brothers and sisters, and met him in his favorite spot. She gave him lots of love, was very sweet and compassionate the entire time. She gave us plenty of time that we needed after he left his body to say our final goodbyes. Since I have referred her to several friends who have unfortunately needed to use her for similar services. Everyone has loved and appreciated her. I had been struggling with the decision to spare my 15 year old German Shepard's, Elvis', on-going age related suffering for quite a while. He had a really bad case of hip dysplasia, arthritis, and a loss of mass. In just a few months he went from just over 70 pounds to just a tad over 50 lbs. He was on pain management medicine but it didn't seem to be working. I found Dr. Rebecca Westbrook after looking on-line for answers to my questions and concerns. As it is for everyone who loves their furries, that first step was so hard. Elvis and I had been together for 14 years. And I like to say he retired when I did. And when he did, he faithfully accompanied his cat companion, Binx, when they flew from CA to TX because we were establishing a new home base. Anyway, I finally set the date and Dr. Westbrook came out for our scheduled appointment. She was absolutely fabulous. She patiently answered all of my questions; reassured me when I needed it; explained the process; and helped me with what was a tough process. As part of the process, she made a clay paw imprint which she left with me because I opted not to keep Elvis' ashes. I loved and needed this. Dr. W didn't laugh at my shock in learning that Elvis' ears would remain in the up and alert position even though he was gone. And, in true Elvis fashion, despite my sadness, he made us both smile when he "left the building" wrapped in a leopard print blanket with a hot pink lining. Dr. Westbrook was patient, kind, and understanding through the entire process. She provides a wonderful service. I can't thank her enough for helping me make what was a difficult decision. I am truly thankful for Dr. Westbrook traveling out of her way to provide my precious dog Sophie a comfortable passing. So glad we called Dr.Westbrook to put our little doggy to sleep; it made a heartbreaking time somewhat easier and a lot less stressful. Doing it at home was peaceful, calm and private -not rushed. There was no waiting for a vet in a waiting or exam room, no hearing other dogs barking or yelping in the next room, no explaining to multiple people the reason for the visit as could happen in a vet's office. I was able to hold my dog while I sat on the couch during the whole process; she will perform the procedure wherever is comfortable for you and your family. She gave him two injections and monitored him closely the whole time. She did not remove the body, as we opted for our own burial. Dr.Westbrook is very kind and compassionate and she did whatever would make us all most comfortable. She has a great way with people and with dogs. I liked her immediately - even over the phone (by the way, she answered her own phone when I called initially to make the appt). We laughed a little and cried too. She reassured us about our decision that is was time. Before leaving, she made a pawprint impression for us to keep and answered all our questions. I cannot thank Dr. Westbrook enough for helping our 14 year old pitbull pass today, the decision to do an at-home euthanasia was very sudden and she was the only vet on call who was actually flexible with our last minute decision. Within calling her she was able to arrive to our house in less than two hours and she was a very easy person to talk to. She knew that it was our dogs time to pass and reassured us that we were making the right decision. She was very good in explaining the whole process to us before she set up and set a calm atmosphere for him, she stayed out of his way during both shots so he hardly even noticed her. He was able to pass on his mom's bed where he felt safe and relaxed despite being in so much pain, I wouldn't have wanted it any other way for him. I highly recommend others to consider her for an at-home euthanasia, your pets deserve all the love in the world during their last few moments, especially in the privacy of their home. She was pretty detached during the process but in a good way, I didn't feel judged for one second because of how much we were crying, she came in quick and did her job in a professional but compassionate manner. She also made a clay paw print for him before she left for us to keep. Loving Paws House Calls was a true blessing when it came time to let my sweet dog go. Dr. Westbrook arrived on time and and spoke gently to my Jasmine and petted her as she rested comfortably on her bed. She examined her vet records and put my mind (and heart) at ease letting me know I was making the right choice. She informed my husband and I of every step she took and allowed us to hold Jasmine while she started the procedure. Dr. Westbrook was gentle, empathetic and did not rush us nor Jasmine. When it was done.. she pressed Jasmine's paw into some clay making us a paw print and stamped Jasmine's name beneath it. She then carried our Jasmine out in a basket swaddled in a blanket. We recently had the unfortunate experience of losing our beloved black lab of 15 years.. We live in a semi rural part of Fort Worth and it was hard to find an in home euthanizing service. I texted Dr. Westbrook after hours and she promptly responded. Also, she was willing to drive a little out of her service range. Or Hannah passed one hour before Dr. Westbrook was to arrive. Dr. Westbrook still came to our house and handled all the after care with The Pet Loss Center. She was professional, courteous, prompt, communicative, and did her job well. Keep in mind our dog passed before her arrival but based on Dr. Westbrooks performance I do not doubt she would have done a good job. One thing to keep in mind when searching for at home euthanasia is, these doctors may come off unemotional and business like, this is understandable considering the nature of the job. Salem was a part of our lives for 15 years- a long time for a golden retriever! As he had demonstrated to us by not eating and no longer walking for the past several days, Dr. Westbrook immediately confirmed our decision to help Salem go was a correct one. Putting my beloved Abbey to sleep was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. I have had other beloved fur kids that I took to the vet for their final moment it just felt awful taking them where they did no want to go for their final journey.I called Dr. Westbrook on a Sunday morning,she called right back.
