We did a walk-in on a Sunday morning and arrived around 8:40 a.m., but there were already five people waiting. Definitely arrive early because they do close the walk-in list once it fills up. They were also very transparent about costs, which we really appreciated. The only downside is parking. it's street parking on a pretty steep hill, so that can be a bit tough. Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely be coming back.

But after reading more details, I also realized that some of the concerns seemed tied to things like bloodwork, anesthesia, and surgical costs, which are very serious parts of making sure a procedure is done safely. That was important to me because my own dog needed surgery to remove more than 20 skin growths that had become painful, irritated, and infected. At that point, it was no longer cosmetic. They needed to be removed. While my dog was under anesthesia, they also did a dental cleaning and ear cleaning, which was really helpful since everything could be taken care of at the same time. I was very worried about anesthesia too, but Dr. Pascal and the team explained why the bloodwork and safety steps were necessary. I've had experiences at other vets where I felt like things were added on without much explanation, including repeated bloodwork, especially at Village Vet, where I constantly felt pressured into unnecessary add-ons and upselling. Refills there also required another visit, which honestly left me frustrated enough that I decided I would never go back. That's why I really appreciated how clearly everything was communicated here. Dr. Pascal was amazing. He was attentive, caring, patient, and explained everything before and after the surgery. The procedure went well, my dog has been recovering great, and I felt like he was truly cared for. He even removed one of my dog's loose molars during the dental cleaning and didn't charge me extra for it, which I really appreciated. They never pushed unnecessary treatments or exams, and they took the time to clearly explain why each treatment or recommendation was needed in a way that was easy for me to understand as a pet owner. Dr. Vasquez is an actual angel. it's so clear how much he's in this for the right reasons. i can't even imagine how hard it would be to do that job with a heart as big as his. the vet techs were all just as caring. the secretarial staff could use a bit more tenderness lol but maybe they hire people like them on purpose for that role bc they need to be more terse to keep things moving along. we ended up getting a new dog from a stressful situation. she was in bad shape- completely malnourished, underweight and pregnant! we weren't prepared to take her on and didn't have the budget to handle all of the care she needed right away so Dr.Vasquez pointed me in the direction of a non profit that helped us cover the expenses. they're called "Better Together Forever" btw. i'm just all around blown away by their entire staffs kindness and compassion for animals. be prepared, they're a low income vet and the way they're able to make it work is a first come first serve process. get there no later than 6am, bring a jacket, a warm drink and a cushion for your butt. make sure your animal has a cozy blanket to lay on too. you're gonna be there awhile but it's worth it.

On March 30th, Peanut was diagnosed with pancreatitis and admitted overnight for IV fluids, pancreatic medication, and IV abx. Dr. Jaglan was thorough, communicative, and kind. As a registered nurse, I asked informed questions about whether imaging was necessary and whether procedures like gallbladder removal, tumor resection, or ERCP-equivalent interventions are performed in veterinary medicine, since my background is in human care. I was not challenging the plan; I was trying to understand viable treatment pathways before committing to imaging costs. Vet Tech Jenn verbally claimed that "duct stones are not a thing"; and I had explained to her that the liver, gallbladder and pancreas are all connected by tiny ducts, which can be blocked by stones. Jenn kept saying that it would only be a tumor and had no idea what I was taking about. Vet tech Jenn was dismissive, offering no real answers and stating "the doctor is going to be short with you too." When I asked about financial assistance, I was flatly told "we don't do discounts" with no further effort to help. Her attitude directly contributed to my hesitation in proceeding with imaging Dr. Jaglan had recommended. After discharge, Peanut was flinching and squealing when we touched her jaw, something not present before her stay (leaving us with serious concerns about her overnight handling with Jenn.) After discharge Peanut improved briefly at home, but on April 4th she deteriorated rapidly (jaundiced, lethargic, and passing tarry stools, which I recognized as internal bleeding). We returned to the UC immediately. Vet tech Carlos was exceptional, very compassionate, thorough, and patient. He walked us through every detail of her care and proactively worked with us to find financial assistance, which meant the world during an unbearable time. Peanut was admitted in critical condition with severely elevated WBC, liver enzymes, pancreatic enzymes, and bilirubin. Dr. Arvind Bagga reviewed her labs with us, and even displayed imaged of internal organs of a dog on the screen to explain what was happening with Peanut, making it easy to follow and understand for my husband who is not in the medical field. He was exceptionally informative, kind and compassionate. On April 5th, Dr. Vikas Jaglan delivered the imaging results with us and we were told Peanut's only options were emergency surgery (with a very poor prognosis given sepsis and critically elevated clotting factors) or euthanasia. My husband and I made the most devastating decision of our lives that day. I carry immense grief wondering whether timelier imaging could have changed the outcome. While the final decision was my husbands and mine, I believe Jenn's dismissive and unhelpful communication (both medically and financially) played a significant role in that delay. Two weeks later, we returned for Peanut's ashes, presented in a beautiful bag with her paw print (a gesture that brought us to tears.) Dr. Jaglan, Dr. Bagga, and Carlos represent everything veterinary care should be. I am forever grateful for their care, and forever heartbroken by this loss. This experience was deeply traumatic, and I would not wish this pain on anyone.

Every search indicates they are open daily until 11PM including their own signage on the day they are closed. They even have bookable appointments on their own website during the hours that are closed - whatever some boxes were missed - their posted hours say open at 8AM on Fridays - cool I'll go in the morning- nooope you call at 8am and they say doctor doesn't come in until 11:30 - which defeats the purpose of early morning hours, whatever they're open late - I call at the end of my shift - should be fine they're open for another 3.5 hours - no they're not taking new patients - EVEN THOUGH their website says they're taking clients in 6 additional spots. I've been here when highland park animal hospital was too busy and sent me this way - we had a good experience. That is not the case. There is a lack of customer service effort on behalf of the front staff provide: Chelsea, too many systems that provide information with little to none being consistent information, and overall I don't care how quality your product is if I can't access it at the end of the day. I'm trying to do a Regular dog check up - how would this look if I actually had a higher need beyond allergies?? It definitely seems like an administrative and systems issue, and if you can't provide the foundation of your service it defeats the purpose of your providing the service. It's already past noon today, and if it doesn't update over the weekend, it'll be a week. Extremely disappointing experience.

Their way of connecting through text and call was prompt, easy to reach, and thoughtful. They were the ones who diagnosed Coffee with degenerative heart condition and gave me treatments. Alot of other vets that I go every year never diagnosed him, only told us he has a heart murmur but didn't go further than that. They were very detailed about Coffee's condition, something I appreciate because Ive always been questioning his condition. Fast forward to a few weeks ago Coffee started having a smell that smelled like death. We took him to this vet again. The vet was direct, informative, and well intentioned. Before we could consider putting Coffee in any procedure we made sure to do some tests. Less than 24 hours later the vet called us to immediately request us to come back to explain the results. The results, while devastating, was handled with vigilance and care. The vet gave me time to cry afterwards in the room. They did all they could for my boy. In emergency they printed out the files so if his condition worsened were he had to be taken to the emergency, the papers were already there. I originally scheduled a euthanasia appointment with them but Coffee peacefully passed in my arms before then.
