I don't normally write reviews but tonight is an exception. Everything we ordered was way over salted. We sent back the calamari which was not deducted from our bill. The Chicken and especially fries were coated in salt. Things have went downhill since our last dinner here two years ago. I would not recommend eating here until they change cooks. read more

Back again and they didn't disappoint. Ordered a to go 10 oz. filet with mashed, cooked veggies, and a salad, along with the homemade biscuits w/honey butter, and while obviously pricey, it was outstanding! July 2 2026 about 7:25 pm walked in was seated. asked what we liked to drink. water with lemon. over herd the dumpy rude waitress say to other patrons I can't believe people are walking in 30 mins before we close. If you don't want to serve people after 7:30 lock the door or say so don't seat people the let them sit for 20 mins without even bring the water. Sad I visited this restaurant in the spring and fall and it was my go to... Now it's my never to go back too and tell everyone that asks where to go it's dang sure not Low Gap. Rude! read more

I won't lie, I was not expecting this kind of restaurant in the area. Solid offerings, and very tasty. I got the chicken fried steak, which I have been craving for our entire time in Arkansas and it was excellent, and my husband had a burger and fries which were the best we've had in months. Honestly, though, the standout was the service. Dawn was our waitress and I don't think I've come across as friendly, helpful, and funny a server in quite a long time. Great little hole in wall place to eat near Jasper. This is a small little place with a few tables and a big reputation. My first time there I was left wanting more.... I mean the service was great, the ambiance was great, but the food was a little lack luster. I ordered the 10oz ribeye with the Cesar salad. The salad..... the salad was brought out very quickly. Once I saw it I was like why in the heck is there an up charge of $2.50 to get this option over the regular salad. The salad wasn't bad, but I was expecting maybe a homemade dressing with a little more taste. My ribeye was cooked perfectly and had good flavor. The downside was that it was a tough piece of meat. Lot of chewing involved. Was hoping for a better quality meat. Veggies were cooked perfectly, the few bites of potatoes were pretty good not great. Cheese biscuits were light and flavorful. I had dined at Low Gap before they moved to Jasper and really liked their food. So I drove all the way from Clarksville, AR expecting the same. I was disappointed. First of all I felt like I was eating in a warehouse! I missed the old ambiance. Secondly, the food was not up to par and more expensive. Personally I believe if they were not in a high tourist area, they would not survive. I think the Ozark Cafe down the road is better and less expensive. I do not think it was worth the drive! read more

stumbled upon this place by accident and decided to stop for lunch since the parking lot was full. the restaurant was very busy too. but I'm glad we stopped. the service was fast considering all the tables were full. the menu had plenty of options and the food was excellent. Please let me give this a NO STARS! WE had heard good things about the restaurant and after hiking we needed some rest, hot food and drinks. The first night we drove by around 730 after watching elks and the lights were so dark even though they were supposed to be open so we bypassed and went to a great place Ozarks Down the street. We tried again earlier the next night and when we got out an older gentleman informed us there was and hour and twenty minute wait. I think he was expecting that to scare us off but when we said we would just have drinks until then, he retorted he was closing and wouldn't have time for us. We got the picture and got back in our cars and he stormed in the restaurant, slammed the door and turned off the open sign. What a rude experience at Low Gap cafe. read more

We came to this area to kayak the Buffalo River and decided to stop in. The interior looks more like a fish house but is very clean. The menu has a wide variety of dishes from fish to pasta and steaks. My grandson ordered a child's steak and was brought an adult steak with horseradish sauce on top. The waitress said that it was her mistake and that she would pay the extra difference out of her paycheck I assume! My grandson tasted the steak and surprisingly he loved the sauce. He ate all of it so I told the waitress that I would pay all of the cost on it. She was very attentive so I was not going to punish her with that mistake. I rate this restaurant a solid 3 star. A day before or after kayaking this is definitely a good choice. Let's just say that I would go back. read more

We stopped here after a day of hiking and site seeing, I have been wanting to try this place for years. While it looks pretty bad from the outside, everything is good on the inside. The menu for a place like this blew me away. I had the calamari for appetizer and was not the best, to much breading and to little calamari. However the cheese, bacon burger was excellent. We have been coming to jasper for over a decade and always stopped at the low gap for tasty food and cool ambience. We noticed on this trip that the restaurant has moved into town so we thought "great, this is more convenient". and stopped in at 6:30 on a Thursday. It was an odd ambience, with few customers and too much space for the number of people and furniture. There was no music or anything so it was just kind of an awkward silence. Our waiter greeted us and asked if we wanted water, then went in the kitchen and loudly said he was going home so we got a new waiter. weird but I guess it was a slow night.. ordered spinach and artichoke dip. what came out was clearly a frozen app that came with stale and chewy crostinis that had at one point in their life been grilled but had obviously been microwaved for us. dip was greasy and grey colored. not good. next came an order of biscuits. also day old and microwaved. then came a salad. bag salad mix, bag cheese, fresh tomatoes, dressing from a bottle. not bad but not good. I didn't finish. then came our entrees. a fried catfish platter - undercooked all around, soggy fries, fish that didn't seem quite cooked through... hushpuppies raw in the middle. who can't cook fries? The coleslaw was straight up BROWN. what the heck? I got chicken parm. They broke the linguine before putting it in the pot. What chef does that? Ragu was broken, veggies were overcooked and VERY oily, and the chicken was cooked fine but the cheese was bag mozzarella that was not browned at all. no trace of parm in the chicken parm. we loved this place. sad to see it in such a state. no pics because it was not photo worthy food. read more

Agree with a previous reviewer!Appears to be set for COVID still. Little dark and gloomy. That said, the food is 5 star, obviously the cook/cooks know what they are doing!! One of the things we had was the salmon salad with homemade orange dressing. Fantastic from nice balance of greens, nuts and fruits to the "perfectly " done salmon. Crispyly seared outside and barely cooked inside. Also had a great BLT, tasty smoked bacon and a good choice in bun. Again well balanced. Even the fries obviously from the freezer but well cooked and seasoned! Very pleasant and attentive staff! Well done! read more

We've stopped at Low Gap on several occasions and purposely choose different menu items. Each time, I am completely happy with my choice. Today, the salmon salad was on point. Seasoned correctly, and plentiful. Every last bite was great. Blackberry cobbler and tiramisu were terrific. On the side of the road, the building is unassuming and easy to drive right on by. Don't blink, you'll miss it! Except for all the cars. Early November visit, nice afternoon so we sat outside. We had our dog with us because of hiking and although he wasn't allowed on the patio (we understand) they were super sweet and accommodating for him BESIDE the patio. So glad, because the service was phenomenal and so was the food. If you like horseradish (and maybe even if you don't but you like garlic) the sauce this perfectly cooked ribeye was drizzled in was delicious. I will dream about it. Well worth the trip! read more

I wouldn't have stopped because of the exterior. It's cozy looking but didn't scream STOP. BUT, a local who drove us to our zip line told us we HAD to go. As soon as we stepped in we felt at home. Our waitress was phenomenal. I didn't catch her name but if you get a waitress smiling non-stop and delivering amazing service at full speed, that's her. We tried the chicken fried steak, ribeye, Burger, Catfish plate, and seafood pasta. We have eaten at top restaurant in the DFW area so I was very skeptical about the caliber of the food I was going to get and did not set my expectations are very high. From our tasty side salads to our entrées we were not disappointed in the least! The portions were huge and everyone was trying the different entrées at our table. My seafood pasta was some of the best I have ever had. Scallops, shrimp and lobster i'll taste it incredibly fresh and the Parmesan Alfredo sauce was terrific. The chicken fried steak was wonderful also! What can I say, everything was great! After a long day of hiking we decided to get every kind of dessert to go LOL the Italian blueberry lemon cake was our favorite. The coconut cream pie and a Keylime pie were also to die for. Amazing find, a tiny Ozark Mountain town's absolutely delightfully delicious roadside cafe. Owned and run by folks who are genuinely glad to welcome you at the door with a honest smile, they serve up excellent cuisine that easily competes or exceeds big city fare. The Pasta Primavera in white wine sauce was clean yer plate larpin' good, the crisp-outside-tender-juicy-inside 1/2 lb burger tasted like any $15 or more gourmet taste treat. Topped it off with large bowl of homemade blackberry cobbler ala mode to send us over the top and out the door sporting a big wide grin and hopes of returning another fine day. read more

Truly fabulous. Didn't expect as much, due to the location but daughter is a pescatarian and chose the restaurant. She lives in Little Rock, we live in Branson so she said it was a place we could meet in between that she would enjoy. She did enjoy it - and so did we! Every single thing we ordered was perfect and great service! We arrived when they opened at 11:15 and had the place to ourselves. It sure didn't seem like much. Daughter got there about 11: 30.
