Not greasy. Huge! The gravy is on point. We tried the cream cheese corn and I'd have to say that I thought the green beans are better. The onion rings are incredible! The mashed potatoes are very good. The service is good. The only issue we had was that we had ordered a side order of onion rings. When a huge basket came out, I asked if this was the side order and the waitress quickly commented that she had put it in as a side order but that they sent a whole order. She said she would adjust it but when she brought the check she said that she took off 10%. Quickly doing the math, the basket we were charged for was $11 while the side order is $5. 10% didn't come close and we barely made a dent in the basket of delicious rings. The live music was nice but they might need to tell the entertainer that it isn't meant to be a show, just background. He doesn't need to be the center of everyone's meal. Local Flavor is a must try! We had excellent service from Kristen who was very friendly, informative, and attentive. I had the chicken topped with all of topping, odd goat cheese, and balsamic drizzle. It was fabulous. Also liked the mashed potatoes. My husband enjoyed the creamy Gorgonzola pasta dish with caramelized onions and cherry tomatoes. There were several good looking desserts, but we were too full to try any. Ambience fairly simple but a row of cute lamps lining the shelf up above. It was a beautiful day in Eureka Springs to enjoy outdoor dining at the Local Flavor Cafe in late April. A girls trip had us enjoying drinks and sharing the delicious crab cakes before enjoying our entrees. Of course we have to share a bite from each of our plates, Quiche, Reuben, and Fish Tacos. Service killed the experience. This restaurant was our first stop upon arriving in Eureka Springs. I was excited to spend some time with the kids on another adventure, and we had a little while to kill before check-in time. Yelp suggested Local Flavor, so we figured this would be a solid choice. Unfortunately, it was our first, but far from last experience with poor service and unfriendly people in this quaint town. The restaurant is not all bad. It is attractive, located on the main road, and there is usually plenty (paid) parking across the street. There was balcony seating and inside seating available to guests. When we arrived, it was relatively full, but there was no wait, and we were seated at a table inside. The host was very friendly, but that all changed when our server arrived. He was not friendly and appeared to be completely overwhelmed and unaware of what his job entailed. Long waits for drinks? Yes. Long waits to order? Yes. Infrequent trips to the table? Yes. Appearing that we were inconveniencing him? Absolutely. It was one of the top five worst experiences I have ever had with a server. Yes, it was that bad. Making matters worse is that it was not just us. I looked around the restaurant and noticed many frustrated diners, many of whom were walking to the bar to get drinks because their server was non-existent. It wasn't that he was overworked; it was as if serving properly was beneath him. There were other servers, and they all seemed to be competent. It was if this person was sent here to ruin the experience. Server aside, the food was reasonably good. But it is hard to enjoy when you can't get condiments or other items you need to make your burger appropriately. For some reason, the burgers come plain, and you have to use tiny packets of condiments to make it yourself. Well, only if your server brings them. When we finally finished, we were ready to go. Well, we were ready, but it took ages to get the check. After he never returned to take my card, I realized I did have cash and would not need change, I paid, and we left. We first had to find public parking near the Downtown Trolley Station and Ticket Office which I paid for with an app. It was $2.15 for 2 hours. When we got up to the entrance, I had my girl go inside to request a table on the patio since we had our dog. Our winsome waiter, Ken, and the hostess (forgot her name) treated our dog so kindly, even bringing her another bowl of water (of course I had one down for her already!) and commenting on how calm she was. They offer in & outdoor seating so we opted to sit outside as it became available first. Our server, Amy, was an absolute gem--so sweet and upbeat! The food did not disappoint either; each of us in our party of three left satisfied. We started with the crab cakes, which were packed with lump crab meat and cooked to perfection! I ordered a bacon cheeseburger medium well, but it came out a tad too well done. Still, it was tasty! Instead of fries, my burger was paired with a small scoop of coleslaw (which, for the record, I don't eat and couldn't swap out), so I had to order fries on the side. My son was all about his grilled chicken strips; he enjoyed them so much that he ordered another patty and inhaled it! My goddaughter couldn't stop raving about her mahi mahi tacos, calling them delicious! Now, here's where things got a bit tricky for me--prices! My cheeseburger set me back $15, and that was without a proper side. Plus, there was a bit of a nuisance with the bugs buzzing around. Oh my goodness this place is a hidden gem in Eureka Springs! We visited for our anniversary and were so glad we did. Local Flavor has a charming, quaint atmosphere that made our experience even more special. For drinks, I had the sangria it was a standard sangria, but I definitely wish I had tried a cocktail instead. Now, onto the real stars of the show the food! My husband ordered the turkey Reuben for the first time, and it was absolutely delicious. It came with the most incredible sweet and savory coleslaw so good that I almost wanted to drink the sauce! I had the mahi-mahi tacos, which were drizzled with a flavorful guacamole sauce and topped with fresh mango salsa on what appeared to be homemade corn tortillas. They were fantastic! The tacos came with a side of black beans that could have used a bit more seasoning, but honestly, it didn't matter because the tacos were just that good. For dessert, we shared a slice of pecan pie, and wow it was the perfect treat! Not overly sweet, with crunchy pecans and a perfectly set filling, served with a dollop of whipped cream. I also have to give a shoutout to our server, Daniel. He was attentive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable, giving us great recommendations and explaining why he liked each dish. Alpha gal alert! Lovely place to eat and celebrate but the confident response "We can accommodate alpha gal food restrictions," was problematic. The VEGGIE omelet hid a few tiny pieces of bacon so the kitchen was not as careful as front of house claimed. The rest of the food was excellent, the omelet was instantly replaced but we remained suspicious and IF we go again will be insistent upon ordering and will also dig through the plate for any signs of noncompliance. Too bad because it's a lovely and friendly place to eat. Came for dinner at 5:30 on a Friday, no wait. Sat on the patio, very comfortable with view of Main Street. Wife and I shared a single order of Bread Service, Gorgonzolla Cream Chicken Pasta, and Bread Pudding with Bourbon Cream. Portions were very generous, and even though we shared everything, we were both stuffed. All of the food was delicious, and the service was friendly and excellent. Yum! We stopped at Local Flavor on our way out of town and had a great time. We did have to stand outside and wait for a while as it fills up right at open and they do not take reservations, but it worked out. We were sat on the back patio despite preferring the front patio, but our group was small and the back patio was decorated for spooky szn, so I'm not complaining. I had a lovely morning coffee/alcoholic beverage and a hash that was just what I needed. The wait staff was friendly and everything came out fairly quickly! I would absolutely recommend visiting, but note that you'll likely have to pay for parking if you don't walk and you will have to wait in a line! I recommend getting there right before they open so that you don't have to wait around for all of the first arrivals to finish their meals. read more
