He explained and showed me that it will be very difficult to remove this lever for someone that isn't familiar with it. Sure enough, the next night, I saw that the lever was tampered with because the former employee tried to remove or rekey it but was unsuccessful. He went out out his way to get parts to complete the job that morning. He even canceled his next appointment to accommodate my need. He goes above and beyond to get the job done right and delivers great quality. I hired him to replace the door knobs, door arms, locks, etc. at two of my other properties and he did an amazing job. To my surprise, I found out that he gave me a DO NOT DUPLICATE key which was perfect so the tenant can't make a duplicate for the former employee. Yelp was a great resource and I narrowed down my choices to LA Wifi Guys, as their information gave me the most confidence. Made an appointment and David came out. Really liked his approach. Honest and transparent and not hustling me for upsells. He described my options clearly and it was easy to decide what I wanted. Not cheap, but very fair considering the higher quality solution and more experienced installation. It actually cost notably less than my original set up, which was done 6 years ago and had less features and most of all turned out crappy. David gave me an estimate for parts delivery, which turned out to be exact, and we made the install appointment for the day after. He came in and was very polite, careful and steadfast. He also was great at explaining how to operate my new system. But most of all, weeks after the install, I am sooo happy with it! Really great setup with excellent user interface and excellent camera resolution. I learned about Earl's remote car key duplication business from the Prius forum (Priuschat.com) where members spoke highly of him. I exchanged txt messages with Earl initially and set up an appointment after getting the quote. Price is good. We have two Priuses that we wanted to add a new OEM remote each. So Earl arrived and worked on adding the new remotes and laser cut the emergency keys in no time. No sweat. Business as usual. But this is what separates Earl from other service providers. He explained just about everything with patience as I asked a lot of questions in trying to understand my vehicle. On text and in person. We talked like old time friends and discussed family, life, cars, work, etc. Just shooting the breeze as he worked intently. He has the latest high tech and bluetooth machines he controlled from his cellphone. His honesty is second to none. He could have easily just handed over the new remotes with the original installed battery from the supplier. As-is, customers won't even notice. But nope. He opened and tested each remote and while they both showed above 50% and perfectly usable, he changed them out with brand new, never been installed battery! I would not have known that had it not for me being nosey. Think about that for a minute as to why he would do that. He wanted you to have a remote you can use reliably for a long time. At his expense. He prides about quality service and protects his name and reputation at all cost. Go find another Earl. It's going to be tough! I asked Earl a special request to delete the registration of the lost remote keys still being stored in the vehicle's ECU. Just for safety in case the lost remotes are found by some bad guys. Although it seemed straightforward to remove the lost remotes, Earl erred on the side of caution, and was honest to say that he'd prefer to consult first with the manufacturer of his newly acquired programming device, which he did on the spot. My request apparently is rare and something he has not done with the new device particularly on Priuses. I understand the grave consequences of incorrect programming, like erasing the whole security stack in the ECU. I know because I worked in I.T. which has similarities. It can be very expensive to fix and time consuming, and can brick the vehicle's remote system. Earl provided warranties to back up his work. I'm pretty confident these remotes from Earl far exceed the value you'd get from other auto remote key providers, including dealers. Don't hesitate to call Earl's business. I rarely caw to "teh interwebz" about goods and services, but in this case Earl's "Low Price Keys" is worth crowing about. He's a mobile, one-stop shop that provided me with a key and fob that equals the functionality of a dealer-supplied key/fob combination, for hundreds less than various dealerships quoted. The risk of losing my only keyless entry fob was too great to ignore. If it goes missing I'd be left with no choice but to reprogram the entire system: transmitter and receiver ($$$).
