The people running it were very nice. The location is great along the Shenandoah River and we opted for electricity even though we were tenting but the sites are very close together. You can see everyone and everything going on around you even though there are short fences between some sites. In fact, 2 camping neighbors kept coming into our site to get branches off the ground for firewood; very annoying. The bathrooms have a shower and toilet but no shelving to put your things, although there are two hooks to hang items. It's very dank and the faucets leak. Everything needs updating. They remind me of stalls to wash animals. I wouldn't advise going barefoot in the bathroom or shower. read more

If you plan to have a good time listening to music with friends after a long day floating the river I would NOT recommend you stay here. The taunting, intimidation with K9 force, threatened entrapment and arrest was enough to NEVER come back!!! 11mins past "quiet" hour (10PM) a demand, from unidentified individuals holding the reins of a German Shepard, to turn the music off came from the dark. Which warranted a simple response from the family being asked "I'll turn it down, but not off." Two minutes later, the individuals identify themselves as the owners while on the phone with the Sheriffs department requesting they escort this family off premise. All knowing the compromising position that would put this family in. I question the integrity of any small business owners who put their patrons in immediate danger as they did that evening Our incident was unwarranted and unprofessional! If all rules were enforced in the manner that was exemplified that night, NO ONE would be allowed on premise. I'll list the few rules breached during our stay; rowdy group loud until 3am, dogs off leash, generators being used, underage drinking & lastly underage children working... I would HIGHLY recommend you stay elsewhere, for the safety of you, your family & friends! read more

Used to be a nice place to go with family and friends. Until recently. I think there's new management/owner (or so he claims to be)... ‍ This guy is so rude, cocky, vulgar, disrespectful and racist (sounds like a pos, right? Well, he is indeed!) just in one day he managed to get several groups of people angry and uncomfortable, screaming F words in front of kids here and there and telling people to "shut their mouth", "Pack their shit up and leave" & "I don't want you coming here anymore" at any given time of the day/night. There was an incident at around 7 pm with a Mexican family, because he said the music was "too loud". Nobody was complaining about it and the quiet hours are from 11:00 pm - 7:00 am. So he was completely out of place. And even if it was early and we had the right to have music, if he would've come with a nice attitude and simply asked to lower down the music it wouldn't have been a problem! The problem was HIS TONE, SLURS AND HIS ATTITUDE! another one at around 8:30 pm (it was my group), we were just singing some karaoke, nothing too loud, when he came in and snapped at us. And again, at 11:35 am on a Sunday morning, We're packing getting ready to leave when he comes screaming and talking sh*t about calling the sheriff (because it was check out time at 11:30am) and we were trespassing, allegedly (when we were actually leaving and been packing pretty much all morning). So I called him out on his slurs and the way he treats us costumers (brown people only), and that's when he said "you know what? I don't want YOU people here anyway" and went ahead and called the police on us. He acts in such a rush, he seems to be on drugs all the time or maybe he just deep down really hates Latinos and brown people in general. That's a big possibility because when he talks to white people I saw him being nice to them and not at all crazy nor offensive. Luckily nothing major happened but it was so offensive, denigrating and racist, I said we're not coming back here anymore. (We've been doing so a few times a year for over 10 years in a row), The other group he was yelling to, was an Indian family who was just getting to the site, when they complaint about something, he basically just told them to suck it up and if they didn't like it they could (again) "pack their shit and leave"... the family, after some exchange of LOUD words, left the premises and he wouldn't even issue a refund, let alone an apology... With all this being said, I wouldn't recommend this place unless they change management or fire this clown! I don't know what his name is. I have him on tape but here it only allows me to post pictures. This place is amazing! It seems to be a family run place which adds so much to the charm. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. They are so inviting to everyone and seem to really care about making sure your stay is as good as it could be. And it's all a great value. The sites are close and not very private. The people next to us had rented two sites next to each other and were being extremely loud during the day which kinda sucked because we came to relax, but that is no fault of the campgrounds. We've had two different spots on the river and it is amazing to wake up to the sound of a flowing river in the morning. Port a Johns are the only bathrooms in the campground area, but in the main building, a short few minute walk away, there are four bathrooms with toilets and full warm showers. They are kinda dirty but it's camping and to have a hot shower was amazing no matter how dirty they were. I was just happy they were there at all. You can rent tubes from them to float the river and they give you a ride a couple miles down the river and drop you off to float and you can float right back up to you campsite when you reach the campgrounds! It's amazing! Make sure you check the river levels before going so you can have a smooth float. If the river is too low, you'll scrape your bum on rocks but it's still fun none the less! My go to. For my first real experience camping I choose Low Water Bridge to test out the waters, so to speak. Pros: Easy to book Informative website Friendly staff Cons: Small campground (plots too close together) Confusing to get to No cell reception While the owner was nice, it didn't make up for the too-close-for-comfort plots (we were squished between two massive groups with babies, kids smoking, and dogs...uggh!), the very late entry of our neighbor (midnight!) with their lights on in our tent for 2 solid hours, the lack of respect for others in terms of music levels from other campers, and a general 'tough-luck' attitude all around. It was apparent once the owners got your money for your rental spot they weren't too pressed to help out. The bathrooms weren't as bad as some other Yelpers mentioned, heck, they even had outlets in them! But I only went into the same bathroom the entire time I was there I cut my visit short because of all the nuances and probably wouldn't return unless I flat out knew there wasn't going to be any campers next to me. read more

Experienced camper here. This place was very good. Stayed in site 57, and the biggest plus was we had a fence that assured privacy, and our site was about 40X50ft. We could see the river, and to be fair, if we stayed at the river I probably would bump up my rating to 5 stars. We will go back. If you are into any of the following this place is as good as anywhere else I have camped. Stargazing, kayaking, tubing, and fishing. We considered picking up our site and moving into the national park, but our site was too nice, and the sites in the NP are much tighter, about 20X25 in Mathews arm campground. Not sure if this is a plus or a minus but there is no cell coverage for any of the people in our groups. I have Tmobile, and others had Verizon and att. Nobody had coverage. read more

Try to get a river access campsite and book in advance! Our spot was picturesque and had a steep, but navigable beach path down to the river, which completely MADE the experience! I think in total, we had three sites for 20 or so of us. Picture a bunch of idiots piled into the river with beverages, smiles and waving and good-natured catcalling all the passing kayakers and tubers - that was us. Despite the heat, we had a blast. Check in is super easy and waze will get you there with no trouble. This place is really an easy jaunt from the DC/Northern VA area, so you can just head out after work on a Friday and be set up before nightfall lickity-split. Friday night was kind of quiet, so recommend that you get there Friday night to rest because Saturday nights are endlessly loud and actually a lot of fun. There are just so many people packing in on a Saturday night, but oddly enough everyone pretty well cleared out by 11am or so on Sunday. You pay upon checkout and if you want to do the tubing run, here are a few things to be prepared for; the van seats 11, so if your party is bigger than that, you'll be making a couple of trips, the run is about 3hours long with small riffles, but mostly a lazy and relaxing time, which is exactly the point. Some deep water, but mostly just a couple of feet -- some places you can't touch, which is nice for swimming. Oh, and you'll pay for the tubing up front (unlike the camping -- not sure why, but that is their system). Personally, I'd rather just pay it all up front and then not have to worry about "checking out" on Sunday, but whatevs. Had a blast - would totally go again! read more

When you head up to Shenandoah Park for a camping trip during a beautiful October Columbus Day weekend, you may be disappointed to find out that all of the Park's campgrounds are full. Sigh. No worries, though. Get your six mile hike in while in the park and then cruise your (zip)car down to Bentonville, VA where you will find the Low Water Bridge Campground. That is what some friends and I ended up doing this weekend, and it was great. We didn't have a campsite on the water, but we were a few lots away. The campsites are clean, they have fire pits, and we were given a grill top to place over the fire pit to cook up some tasty food. (why does everything taste better over a campfire?) This campground caters to a whole mix of folks. Couples playing their lone Genesis CD out of their car stereo so everyone can hear it, families with kids who spent hours fighting dragons on the swing set, families with babies and dogs, and young adults just looking to go camping for a weekend. The bathrooms leave something to be desired, but I think that is expected when you are roughing it for a night. They do have showers, however. Oh, and the stars? Breathtaking! read more

We found ourselves scrambling to find a nearby campground on a Friday night after finding out that all the sites in the park were full. We called this place, and the proprietors stayed open an extra 10 minutes to wait for us - already a plus. The setting is beautiful - relatively secluded and right on the Shenandoah River. There is a big clearing that provided a great view of the stars. Sites were much bigger than what we would had in the park and we were located at the end of the campground that was almost uninhabted except for us. As twenty-somethings who want to combine drinking and campfires (without getting obnoxious), we appreciated not having to deal with park rangers unabashadly parading onto our campsite, trying to find people who are underage, and visually inspecting all our belongings. A couple of downsides: bathrooms are in bad shape and ran out of toilet paper one night. There is also very little dead wood in the area if you want to gather your own, so you pretty much have to buy it ($4.50 for a nice-sized bag). Nonetheless, the very friendly staff, peaceful setting, and other positives greatly outweigh the negatives. read more

Love this place! We planned on camping over the weekend so we got up early and drove to Skyline Drive. We got there only to find out everything was full :( We stopped at one of the visitor's centers in the park and one of the employees was nice enough to give us a list of private campgrounds outside of the park. Low Water wasn't super crowed and a lot of the sites were right on the water. The owner/employee was super friendly and let us choose our preferred site when we arrived. They have canoes and tubes for the summer times and snacks and fire wood you can purchase in their little shop. Plus, you can't beat missing the never ending line getting onto Skyline Drive. Low Water is my new go to camping spot. You can't beat the location, the view, and the friendly service. read more

City camping. I actually didn't think the bathrooms were that bad, but I think anything above a portapotty is deluxe. The campground was packed. The sites are big but you still are right next to your neighbor and everyone has music and kids. It's fine for car camping but I will do more research next time and maybe drive a little further. Being on the river is nice but to a steep slope so no way to get down to the river (which is probably a good thing). Owners are nice and very helpful. read more

Very nice if not too crowded. Great staff! Nice location on the Shen. River and near the Downriver Canoe Company. Facilities were appropriately maintained for a camp setting. Slightly cheaper than Shenandoah River Park's campgrounds. ($20--$10/person, in our case). The campsites were a little close so I'm not sure how it would be if crowded. We were there on a slow time so we had privacy. Would probably depend on who you had around you but that is not the campsites fault. A nice clean place run and maintained by nice people. read more

This review is based on the cabins at Low Water Bridge Campground-not on the campsites. My fiancé and I stayed in cabin #2 for two nights and it was absolutely lovely. It had a space heater that kept the cabin nice and toasty, and had one full bed and one set of bunk beds. We had sleeping bags to sleep on and slept on the full bed-but you could also bring sheets. You need to bring your own bedding. The cabin had a great front porch and the inside was clean when we arrived. We absolutely loved staying in this cabin and will be back again. Restrooms at the Campground were clean and a 10 out of 10 in my opinion. We are talking about a Campground after all. I read some of the reviews on here and think it is comical that people treated the Campground like it was supposed to be a hotel. It is a Campground people. And this is a GOOD one! read more

A ground of about 10 friends and I (all in our 20's) went here on Memorial Weekend, which is probably this campground's most demanding part of the season. All of us had an incredible time! The staff was super nice and very accommodating. Despite the earlier reviews saying the campground is cramped, we didn't feel that way at all whatsoever. All of us wanted to do kayaking, but they were all taken out by the time we went so we all settled for 2-person canoes. We actually liked having canoes! Since there were fewer boats, we all would hold the boats together and just float down the river. The staff told us it would take about 4 hours but we were on it for 5 and a half, but that was only because we barely paddled. We had a lot of beer to get through! I'm giving this review only 4 stars because the bathrooms were pretty gross as other reviewers have said. I've been to many other campgrounds and this one was definitely the worst I've seen. The showers are hot and unlimited amount of time which is amazing, but the bathrooms have no shelving to place your clothes, shampoo, and soap. You have to place everything on top of the toilet tanks or the sink and hope nothing touches the floor. We have a pretty experienced group of campers and we were pretty grossed out. But honestly though, this was such a small inconvenience compared to how much fun we had with everything else. We'll definitely camp here again! PROS: Great hub for hiking, tubing/kayaking Beautiful and well kept property Friendly staff CONS: Gnarly bathrooms Zero cell phone service. Needed a back up plan for camping when my first choice turned out to be too small and frankly nasty for a weekend get away. We were already in the Front Royal area and the state park was booked for the Columbus Day weekend. A quick map search lead me to LWBC. Was able to get a site on the river. The view was great and the site was not too crowded. The only down side was when it rained the first night, the site got a bit muddy. not a big deal, just should have checked out the terrain and listened to the lady at the office. But other than that it was spectacular. will be returning. Bathrooms were clean but could use a couple hooks and maybe a mirror. read more

My husband and I went camping here last weekend and couldn't of had a better time! I highly recommend this place over other campgrounds in the area. Seems like park rangers in the Shenandoah aren't very pleasant to deal with and the folks here couldn't of been nicer! We had a bit of a problem getting our fire started for dinner (which we planned on cooking over) and they were so helpful with supplies!!! The group camping next to us lenses a hand as well and we enjoyed a great fireside meal. We slept in the next morning and decided not to go tubing but are planning another trip for that. It looked like tons of fun. Great in between of being out in the woods and having some kind of modern convenience. No cell phone service, which for me made it even more peaceful and beautiful. Spent a weekend at Low Water Bridge Campground last week and had the greatest time ever. This was the sixth year in a row our very diverse friend group has spent a nice September weekend camping and have appreciated how we are welcomed year after year. Last year we were asked to turn our music down at 9 pm and we obliged out of respect for our neighbors. (but who can complain about 80s hair band music). We know voices carry and everyone needs to respect their neighbors. We are all in this COVID situation together and I have never seen the campground so crowded. Loved the tubes on the beautiful Shenandoah- saw six bald eagles. The family who runs the campground are very nice, helpful, and try to make sure everyone can enjoy the beautiful site. Love the improvements made over the years and look forward to coming back next September. read more

A group of us (party of 6) went here last weekend and had a great time. The sites were fairly large and we found that we didn't need the second site we had reserved. Fortunately, the manager agreed and was able to quickly rent the site to another camping party. Although the bathroom conditions were a little scary, they did have private showers. It's camping after all, so we were happy that they even offered these. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and we look forward to our next visit. read more

The campgrounds themselves are pretty nice. Lots of space and the units by the water provide a great view. Pros: - Great customer service. People working there really seem to want to make your stay pleasant. - Campgrounds are spaced pretty nicely - Issues are addressed in a timely manner. We had issues where the people staying at the campground near us was blasting music and being loud till 2 in the morning. Several people voiced their concern about the noise and the staff quickly had them quiet down. Cons: - TICKS. There are ticks everywhere. Not too much of an issue if you don't have kids or pets, but if you do have young children with you or pets, beware. I found 10 ticks alone on one of my yorkies. Keep a set of tweezers near by. - Bathrooms are horrible. There are port-a-potties. I wish there was someone that would clean the bathroom mid-day. By the afternoon, the bathrooms are filthy. UPDATE: DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU HAVE PETS. FOUND OUT THAT ONE OF MY DOGS GOT LYME DISEASE. WHILE I CANNOT PROVE 100% THAT IT IS FROM THIS CAMPGROUND, IT IS HIGHLY LIKELY AS WE LIVE IN AN URBAN AREA WHERE TICKS ARE NOT COMMON. read more

We loved this campground! The owner of the campground was friendly and quite helpful; she also let us use her tubes for free when we asked if we could float down to the state park. She also let us tent on a group site even though we only had 5 campers and didn't meet the requirement of 10 people. We tented on a riverside site that had close river access, which definitely added to our experience considerably. I would recommend this campground to anybody! read more

Great family owned campground with plenty of locations right on the river. There was some confusion over our reservation, but we were readily accommodated and they went above and beyond in making sure we had what we needed right away. We went tubing in the afternoon. You can bring your own tube and get a lift and drop off for $5 or pay $15 to rent a tube. It's typically a 3hr float, but it took us two with the water level. We just tied up in front of our campsite and returned the tubes when we were ready to get out of the river. (You may not always be able to do this if more people want the tubes to go out -- but they weren't that busy due to a risk of rain) The campsite had a wooden picnic table and metal fire ring. Bathrooms were clean. We had two tents and four people -- room for two more tents. Campsite did get pretty quiet at 11. We continued to sit by fire and play music at a reasonable volume until midnight and no one complained. Coffee available for w buck in the office in the morning. Great experience and I hope to make it back in the future. read more

My friends & I have been camping at Low Water for quite a few years. The staff is great and very accomodating. The campsites are large and all have a fire pit and some have grills. The waterfront sites are fabulous. The place gets really crowded on holiday weekends (that is an understatement). The bathrooms are camping bathrooms, not spas ( really, what were you expecting?). A great place to camp on the healing waters of the Shenandoah. And you can drink without being bothered by anyone unless you get obnoxious. read more

I've basically grown up at this campground since I moved from New York state to Virginia about ten years ago. We've always loved to camp and had our favorite spots in upstate NY but when we moved down here we didn't really know where to go and we didn't want to take a chance on a bad campground. I believe it was my dad that found Low Water Bridge Campground on the internet or heard about it from friends, can't quite remember that part but regardless, we gave it a shot one summery weekend and fell in love immediately. The Shenandoah River is so close you can hear it passing by the campground on a quiet night and the beautiful clear skies are spectacular with all of the stars that you are able to see. We bring our own food and cook on the campfire for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and enjoy everyone's (including our camping neighbors) company. In my experience, this campground is family friendly and there has never been a problem. The bathrooms are decent for a campgro}nd and on the holidays when the place is full of campers they are pretty good about making sure that the bathrooms never run out of soap and toilet paper. The campground offers canoeing and rafting trips as well as lazy day tubing trips. They are so much fun and a great trip for the family. If you're a cell phone addict, you more than likely won't get service unless you have AT&T but trust me, it's so nice to not have to worry about the outside world and actually enjoy a weekend of peace and fun! This is the real deal and you won't regret camping here. Maybe it will become a tradition like it has in my family. We camp out there at least 5 times a year. Also, if you somehow ran out of food, there are diners and restaurants very close by. read more

Not a fan. This place is a large field with no shade trees. It seems to be a popular campground for groups such as boy scouts etc.... Sites are on top of each other river front. Nothing but baby trees attempting to grow between the sites. Most of the time the sound of foreign languages ring your ears with people playing the stereos from their cars as entertainment. If you like to come back to nature for a real camp experience, you'd be better off in your own back yard. read more

The location of this campground is fantastic. After a long day of tubing the river through Downriver Canoe Company, it's a great option to be able to walk/stumble to your campsite. When we arrived, they allowed us to choose our own plot of the open campsites, and didn't limit the number of people or tents we could set up, and at a rate of $8/person you can't beat that. There seemed to be a number of river front lots, and even those that weren't were just a short walk away. For convenience and price, I will definitely be using Low Water Bridge next time I'm out in Bentonville. read more

For the price, friendly owner and staff, location and amenities, I have zero complaints. RE: other people complaints about the bath facilities. There were 6 bathroom/shower stalls, and I never had to wait and I was there on a pretty busy weekend. 1 of the stalls had a lil dirt brought in, but all the other stalls were pretty clean. I didn't expect a place to put my stuff so planned accordingly. I'm not sure I ever wanted hot water, cause I didn't try, so who knows if there was any hot water in the shower. Re: everything else. We were at site 11 which was quite large. Parked 2 cars, pop up camper, and plenty of extra space to roam. And we were close to the river still. And the office/bath facilities. The check-in was easy, no line. Check-out was flexible, we stayed til 2:30pm. Re: noise, we fell asleep at 10:30 and there was nothing happening around us. The owner said she drives around at 11:15 and tell people to turn their music off and reminds people of the 11pm-7am noise policy. And there are signs everywhere. All in all, GREAT place, amazing scenery right on the Shenandoah river in a shallow area so you can go play and wade. Their website was down but they do have a facebook site that has all the info you would need and they answer their phones quickly if you have any questions. read more

Stayed for a night after another great float trip on the river right before the 4th of July. Much quieter this time around and we had our pick of riverfront spots. Bathrooms were very clean this time. They still could use a few shower hooks or a shelf in the bathrooms. Even as a guy I had no where to put my clothes. I had to stand in the bathroom to hold my young daughters' clothes to keep them from getting wet or dirty on the floor. Can't beat the location and the family that runs it is very friendly. We did have a nighttime visitor that rummaged through the trash bag we had in camp. Had the same problem last time with some local cats getting in the trash. read more

Avoid at all cost. Brought Boy Scout troop here over a weekend. Very noisy - Quiet hours are not enforced & staff was nowhere to be found to complain to. Office was closed down & Number on front door didn't answer either. Bathrooms & port a johns were filthy. Campground allowed drinking or didn't enforce no alcohol policy - again no staff to be found to lodge a complaint & as the evening went on, language got louder & cruder from the younger partyers staying here. Not a family environment. We will not be coming here again! Has potential but until they fix problems I would not come here. read more

Our family really like this campground! Its only a 2 hour ride from our place in Southern MD. We have been to a few others in the general area and we have found ourselves coming back to Low Water Bridge for the past 3 years. The staff is great and gives you that homey welcome feeling the time you walk through the door! When I call, they are polite, accomodating and so down to earth! Every year, my husband and I bring a group of kids--ages range from 9-20 y.o.--and they absolutely LOVE IT! Many have never been camping before and now look forward to coming with us. The campsite is nice and spacious--big or small groups you never feel like you are on top of your neighbor. On the weekend the staff makes several runs through the campsite checking on the grounds, picking up the trash and bringing wood around to purchase (pretty cheap) in case you need some. The bathrooms and showers are pretty ok for a camp site--if its a booked weekend you can't expect the staff to keep them tip top shape as often, but over night they usually try and tidy up for the morning rush. I have started to bring my own cleaning supplies and tell my crew to tidy up before they come out--just because you are outside doesn't mean all of your home training goes with the wind! :) We give Low Water Bridge campground two thumbs up--its a great place for families and friends to get away to enjoy the outdoors and each other! read more

Wonderful location, horrid facilities. The bathrooms are in need of repair, the staff barely seems to care about anything. The 11pm quiet time is not enforced, so you will get drunken parties carrying on well into the am. Be wary of intoxicated people driving around the campsite as well. The playground is small and in need of care. Be prepared to bring your own toilet paper and shoes to wear in the shower to keep the ick off of them. It really is a shame that such a great location on a beautiful river is run by such creeps. My family (my wife and two children) stayed at the campground this weekend. Despite enjoying the river we will never consider returning to the campground. It was ridiculously overbooked and there were barely any facilities. I am comfortable "roughing it" but since all the actual woods surrounding the area were cleared this was not even possible. This would have been at least tolerable had the police not visit the campgrounds twice during our stay, once to respond to a violent domestic dispute, which my children had to witness. Later in the night the manager's adult son felt the need to call the police on a group of campers next to our site because a member of their group arrived after midnight and did not know which site his friends were staying at. I witnessed the incident and was more disturbed by the fact that the owner's son was driving his Jeep through the campgrounds while clearly intoxicated than by the fact that there was a bit of noise caused by the late arrival setting up his tent. I have been going to this campground for many years with family and friends. It was always one of our favorite places to camp because the owners were so friendly and welcoming. It is apparently under new management as I was repeatedly informed by the rude woman running the place. It is an ok campground. Most of the sites are ok, some are nice, but many are on top of each other. The bathrooms are in great need of a facelift. There is no place to set your things while showering without them getting dirty on the bathroom floor or setting them on the toilet . Not even a towel hook. I will be looking for a new go to campground after my last visit. I could overlook some of the problems before because of the warm friendly people who used to run it and made us feel welcome. The new management was rude and abrasive and has lost my business. Also their website mentions canoe rentals but they only have tubes and kayaks. Would have been nice to know before arrival. read more
