I saw so much beautiful wildlife and I always feel so much more peaceful when I'm on this property. I don't know if I'll make it back to another conference here but I hope this wasn't my last one because I've cherished the moments! If it is, I hope to just book a trip to visit in the future! We were visiting our family during the Easter weekend. I have been here several times prior with my…read morelocal family including the Easter and Mother's Day Brunches, when we did enjoy our dining experiences in the past. I reserved the 12 PM Sunday Easter Lunch this year for my family of nine for $890.40, including seven adults and two elementary school children or a total of nine. It was raining quite heavily during our drive down. Luckily when we arrived a little before noon the rain had changed to a light drizzle. Needless to say the weather was not good on Easter Sunday. We parked our vehicle. The atrium was a short walk from the parking lot. When we checked into the atrium entrance we were immediately directed to our table for nine. Luckily they had some coat racks so we could hang our rain gear. The bar was set up outside the pavilion. Six fluted champagne drinks paired with peach, pear and pomegranate were available for $12 each. I enjoyed my two glasses of Roget champagne for $12 each. Complimentary canned carbonated drinks were provided to our two elementary school children. The prime rib was decent, but the lollipop lamb chops were too tough. My other family members also complained about the tough lollipop lamb chops. I only ate one. I enjoyed the snow crab claws the most. My cupcake and small mousse were acceptable. We departed before the next 2 PM lunch reservations arrived. The restrooms are located outside of the atrium up a staircase, which was not convenient. Overall our family of nine and I did not think that this Easter Day lunch was not worth $100 per person excluding alcohol. We will not return here for either Easter or Mother's Day brunch/lunch in the future. Also because of the poor rainy weather an egg hunt was not included. I found another yelper Brandon, who attended the same lunch as my family. Brandon immediately posted a 1 star negative yelp review. Please read it for another customer's perspective of the same event. I found that reviews ranged from 1 to 5 stars so this place is not consistent in ratings. The variation in ratings seems to be due to whether you attended only a conference/housing event or other non-housing event such as Easter Brunch/Lunch. You can judge for yourself by reading all reviews and deciding if you want to visit here for an event. Don't get me wrong, but the natural grounds and pond here are quite nice. That is worth your visit. My review is mainly regarding the Sunday Easter Lunch.

Just spent a phenomenal weekend here at the Lackawanna and was so sad when I had to leave. The house is cozy and beautiful. The rooms spacious and inviting. The breakfast was yummers and the owners went above and beyond as hosts for the weekend. We stayed in the Charles Suite which boasts a private bathroom and separate room. Perfect for a couple traveling with child or a group having that 3rd wheel. Highly recommend. The B&B is large but only holds 3 rooms making breakfast time quaint. Phil and Sandy, the owners, were fabulous hosts. We actually found a stray cat and they helped us take her home. My dress broke and Sandy sewed up my straps. It was probably the best 5 star service I have had a hotel. There is also a beautiful garden/backyard area, pool, firepit, relaxing porch, lovely sitting room, wine bar, water bar and basically anything you want from the kitchen. By far, one of the most relaxing and awesome stays I've had on a vacation. Highly recommend. Circling back to things to do in Front Royal, here is what we did: Dinosaur Land, Wine Tasting @ Wineries (take a cab from Yellow Cab. Super cheap!), Horseback riding, Skyline Drive, Skyline Caverns, Town festivals, Civil War trails, dinner at Wine and Duck. PLENTY to do.

The bed was one of the most comfortable we've ever slept on. The linen were 500 count sheets. The bath had Egyptian cotton towels and robes. The food was good. Our hosts accommodated our being vegetarians nicely. The building is a registered historical place. Built in 1869 by an industrialist from Scranton, PA, it has an interesting story. Phil and Sandra renovated the building over the past 10 years and have a picture album to share that experience and the history of the house. Visiting Front Royal in February limits the activities one can get involved with but we found two good used book stores (Royal Oak and Page Master) to browse through, and a good local restaurant (Element) for dinner. In addition, Main Street has a number of interesting shops and eateries to visit. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and the friendly owners, and would recommend this business to others.

The Black Horse has very tasteful and comfortable furniture and antiques, and the building was in a great well cared for condition. The town with it's history, pleasant walking tour, great shops, and restaurants, and the many wineries, brewery, and other activities are a joy. While we didn't go for a wedding, it is easy to see why they are such an acclaimed destination for such.Their facilities and setup are perfect. Bottom line: Money well spent, relaxation assured. The wedding and reception was well run and we had to switch to inside. The coordinator told us grandparents won't be escorted to seats but they set the grooms but not the brides! Really. The coordinator made no effort to find the parents before the cake cutting or the last dance. Or even the exit. And there were three we told would be everywhere. The front entrance looked like a horse pasture with dead grass and weeds. We were told that would be replaced. Nope. Pathetic first impression. The communication was terrible. Only after aggressive attempts at contact do they reply. The wedding coordinator was very helpful and necessary. The "sales girl" treated us like unwelcome guests the day of the wedding saying nothing as she walked by and was snarky when she did talk to my wife. They tried to extort a rehearsal dinner fee for the entire wedding guest amount when less then 40% were coming to the rehearsal. You pay for the weekend and they want money to let you eat after the rehearsal. The owners just seem to be looking for a payday. Nice location good food great place to have a wedding. Be careful with the staff and service. The staff changed about 3 times from booking. They give you a wrong WiFi code then go radio silent to get correct one. They knew our experience had been less than happy yet they make no effort at a last impression other than another bad one.

The website has a whole page talking about how the Inn at Vaucluse Spring has "the best breakfast in Virginia." My wife saw this and it was a major reason she asked me to make a reservation. But I didn't know this when I made the reservation and hadn't seen the website. So when I called and the owner told me that the breakfast would be delivered in the room, I didn't think think anything of it. As it turned out, the "breakfast" was a collection of thoroughly mediocre food picked up at the grocery store--yogurt, bagels, orange juice. The yogurt wasn't event especially fancy. As a result, my wife was disappointed. The host did offer to give us a discount on our stay to compensate for the disappointing breakfast. But he refuses to change the misleading information on his website. To this day, the website brags, falsely, about having "the best breakfast in Virginia," creating the likelihood that other customers will be misled in the future. I could understand if it was still May 2020 and they just hadn't had time to make the change. But the pandemic has been underway for almost a year at this point. It could easily go for another year. And I think it's unethical for a business to knowingly publish inaccurate information on its website.

Aside from the delicious food, the property is very tranquil and relaxing. They are located on over 100 acres and have several different properties to choose for your stay, we stayed in the manor house and we're glad we did. The manor house has a back porch with rocking chairs, it was perfect to sip lemonade and eat cookies (they offer mid-afternoon snacks too). I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a weekend getaway in Virginia (its about an hour and 20 minutes outside DC area).

So much so, we had to go out and spend even more money, for an air purifier... air sanitizing spray... and scented wall plug ins. Just to try and sanitize the air and mask the smell, making it a little more tolerable. So my birthday, our anniversary, and also now engaged/engagement wknd, wasn't a complete bust! Besides the issues with what i just mentioned. What i find to be more troublesome and just plain careless! Not your typical/automatic sorry about yalls experience in our cabin, or welp sucks to be you, nope no response what so ever! The kicker is, my gal Amber has a rare genetic lung condition called alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency. So things like dust, certain pet dander, smoke, and absolutely mold/mildew in the air. Is very hard on her lungs and her body! She is now nearly a wk later, starting to feel a small amount of relief. From our wknd getaway to hot tub (not quite) heaven! Disclaimer: My review herein, is not to get any kind of future free stays. As we are not interested! It's also not to get any money back. As funds received should definitely be used, to take much better care of cabins! Nor is it to cause Tom and Deneane to loose business. It is simply to make others aware of potential conditions as these. Very private. a fantastic get away and only 1 hour and 20 minutes from DC. Highly recommended. 15 minutes from Front Royal and 10 minutes from Luray. I nearly kept one star because the grill is fixed on the wrong side of the cabin - a gas grill on that deck really would have made it perfect. But, we really had a great time and were incredibly pleased. Bring your food and booze, grab a cocktail and get in that hot tub and watch the sunset.

Beautiful campground Laundry room was clean…read more It was a rainy weekend but the kids enjoyed playing on the playground when it wasn't raining It's a small playground but enough for our little ones The wifi worked fine There are some toys in the shop for kids to play with on rainy days The owner makes custom tumblers; I bought two, one of which she made custom for me. They are all beautiful! We would've stayed longer but the following weekend was fully booked so we are on the road again
