We had a great experience at Lowcountry guns & range. I called ahead of time with a few questions and the staff member I spoke to was very knowledgeable and friendly. (For reference, my family and I have shot before but are still beginner/intermediate levels and tend to have a lot of questions) Upon arrival, all the staff members were very helpful, safety conscious, clearly very experienced, and made us feel welcome. The facilities were in good shape and they had plenty of guns to choose from, we were able to rent 4 different guns in the two hours we were there for a fair price. Wow - what a great place! I am on the island for the Labor Day weekend and just purchased a Nighthawk 44. My indoor range in Augusta doesn't allow over .300 blackout, and I was ancy to try it out. I did a quick google search before heading out for the holiday weekend and found this place online and decided to bring my guns and try it out. Everyone was wonderful. Being female you sometimes don't know what to expect in uncharted territory. I had so much fun, and everybody was as nice as they could be. I even had an impromptu lesson with one of the gentlemen who worked there while I was firing my .44 and he really helped me out. If I lived here I would join this range and go several times a week (just like I do at home). I recommend this place 150% and will be back when I come in January for several weeks. It was a quiet, rainy Wednesday afternoon and we had the place to ourselves after the first 15 minutes on the range. Our family stayed about an hour, but will be back. What an awesome experience! We saw the billboard for this place on our way from Savannah to Hilton Head and stopped for an hour to shoot automatic weapons. Todd was so cool in helping us pick out weapons to shoot, loses everything and then went into the range to guide us through using the weapons and providing safety instructions. It's pretty expensive to fire automatic weapons since you're through the clip in 30 seconds but it's a very cool experience if you haven't done it before. We fired the M16 and the Vector which were both pretty smooth to fire - we had some teenagers with us that handled both well. read more

They were extremely helpful with recommendations and how things work in SC. We'll be going back to qualify for and take their carry permit class. Just have to figure out when. read more

My girlfriend and I were driving to Savannah from Charleston and thought we would try the gun range - something we had never done before. There were numerous options to choose from. Mr. Palmetto was incredibly kind to us, suggesting a gun and personally guiding us through its use and safety. Afterwards he even took our picture. For two Californians, this was a warm welcome! Mr.Ed (the talking horse) is an ass. I called to confirm everything prior to driving an hour to this place only to be turned away ( me & my 4 friends) because he decided we weren't worth it( I thank him for keeping our money in our pockets). There was also another couple that came in just a second prior to us that he also turned away and they had guns (a bag full). I should of taken my cue from our conversation on the phone. He wasn't very nice or personable. read more

I saw the 1 star review and wanted to provide a review to counter the negative comments. I'm not sure what happened with Ed as I've never had the experience noted by the 1 star reviewer. Ed may not be the most jovial guy on the range, but his number 1 focus, in my experience, has been the safety and control of the range. This makes total sense considering the inventory and activity. I'm not sure if maybe the range was full, there were too many people trying to rent one lane, or if Ed just had a bad 6th sense. But I for one am extremely grateful. I'm sure that if a group of seemingly novice shooters (not sure if you were - so no offense meant) came in and wanted to rent guns and head to the range, Ed might send them away for the safety and comfort of other customers. I for one do not like it when groups of ppl show up to rent one lane. One is shooting while the others are milling around w/ little control over their weapons. Also, whether or not it's true, gun renters who do not have their own guns and are not shopping may come off as "novice" for obvious reasons (though I did see the comment about the gun owners being turned away as well). I began my entrance into the sport by scheduling a private lesson with Ed. I then took the group CCL class. It was a great way to learn and I have kept and used those basic steps/skills I learned from Ed every time I head to the range. I used to ride horses, so I know how important basic rules are when enjoying a dangerous sport. I'm very grateful to Ed for setting me on the right path. Next time I would maybe suggest scheduling a session. Not only would you know you're going to shoot, but you might pick up a few things while you're at it. That being said, it may just be that the range was full and members take priority. And remember, it's not Ed's job to make friends at the range. read more

The best place to go in the low-country for all your firearm needs! The staff is always courteous and knowledgeable, and won't make you feel like an idiot, or criminal, if you're a novice shooter, unlike other ranges (which shall go unmentioned out of politeness) in the low-country. Their prices are far lower than other ranges in the area, and they have a larger selection of firearms to rent, both semi and fully automatic. It is a very family-friendly environment where instruction is readily available. It is the only range I go to, even though there are other ones closer to where I live. read more

This was my first time at Palmetto Indoor Range, but definitely won't be my last. The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable. My buddy and I were able to get in and shoot hassle-free, with a huge selection of handguns and sub-machine guns to choose from. They offer a wide variety of classes for the new shooters, as well as hands on instruction. I watched a housewife go full rock and roll with an Uzi, then my buddy rocked the MP5 for a hundred rounds or so. Overall, a great experience! read more

My wife and I have taken the CWP training and coarse this month. Ed Soto and his staff are the best. They are knowledgeable, helpful and most important friendly. The entire experience has been great. My wife and I have become members and enjoy going to the range to practice. I have purchased two handguns in the store and that process was wonderful as well. While my husband and I were in Hilton Head Island , South Carolina, we decided to visit a gun range (something we had never done). We scouted the best app, YELP, and they delivered as always! The experience was awesome !! We were carefully educated about firearms were given explicit directions regarding the handling of guns and safety. The staff were very welcoming and glad to have us.
