We took 2 tours with Outside while we stayed in Palmetto Bluff…read more 1) was a kayak tour, which we decided to enjoy in a tandem. Our guide, Chris, was knowledgeable of the local salt marsh, wildlife, and history of bluffton. We enjoyed our paddle down to the old town public dock and looped back down the may river. We saw dolphins, various coastal bird species, and other various marine and salt marsh life. We taken plenty of tours and felt Chris went the extra mile- providing waters, thick towels for cooling our necks, and was even was so kind as to let us use her binoculars! PS - She's a great photographer! 2) We also did a boat cruise and tubing tour with Captain Hunter as we had several friends join us day 2. He was also a great captain and guide - knowledgable, funny, and very understanding of the various comfort levels with participating in tubing on the may river. We saw SO many dolphins day 2 and had a blast listening to music and cruising and laughing. bring food and drinks with you for even more fun! Highly recommend both guides & tours. She took the time to check the wind speeds for the next day, so we wouldn't be scheduling a trip during inclement weather. Once we arrived, the ladies working were extremely friendly and they gave us ample time to check out their merchandise before our adventure started. The kayaks and paddles were in good condition. There are several different routes you can take, a 2 and a 4 mile loop were suggested to us. All the routes will take you past the downtown swing bridge. I would suggest going with the tide either going out or coming back (unless you enjoy paddling the entire time). They also sell kayaks and equipment. They told me that before I purchased a kayak or Hobie fishing kayak, that I could test them in the river. They want you to be happy with your purchase. I will definitely be supporting this business in the future.
