    Some tour views

Went on their 'Charleston's Alleys and Hidden Passages' tour (9:30 Am tour). It was definitely packed full of trivia and facts about the history, architecture, people and even local horticulture. Our guide -Jim- was passionate about those things and it was evident throughout. We passed through alleyways and streets, even stopped in a backyard garden. The tour is definitely all of 2 hours and ours was a little longer. It was a great way to learn some history and see pretty views I'd probably never discover on my own. Would definitely recommend this tour.

Our hotel Concierge advised this company and said Dennis gives THE BEST walking tour in Charleston. He was 100% right! I was a little apprehensive about taking a walking tour given the weather, my general laziness, and my mothers decreasing activity tolerance. After 5 minutes with Dennis's group, I was already grateful for the reservation. He is a local resident clearly passionate and knowledgeable about his community and its history. My only complaint is that it was too short and too popular.

We thoroughly enjoyed the walking tour with Captain Jim! Knowledgeable, friendly and engaging - he narrated the walking tour with enthusiasm. Highly recommend for visitors to Charleston and locals alike as we had locals in our tour who learned new information about their beautiful city.

We took the Alleyways/Hidden Passageways tour. We learned so much! Our tour guide, Mark, was excellent, knowledgeable and funny. Some of the things we learned will have me doing more reading when we get home. It was a delightful way to see the unique history and beauty of historic Charleston.

We did the Hidden Alleys & Passageways Tour. We had a great tour of some little alleys that are significant to the history and development of Charleston and the United States. These otherwise locations and events would be forgotten without such tours. If you love history you must do this tour, if you don't love history you must do this tour. It is fascinating to all as we see trivial walkways come to life.

During my first visit to Charleston a few years ago, I took one of their daytime carriage tours and left feeling... underwhelmed. I didn't learn all that much, the tour wasn't especially memorable, and I wrote that I'd rather have explored the city on foot. Fast forward to my most recent visit when one of my friends wanted to do the Haunted Carriage Tour. Since it was something different, I happily went along and I'm glad I did. Our horse, Ron, was a 2,000 pound French Percheron and wow.... talk about a workhorse! From what I observed, the horses seemed well cared for despite the small stable. It was fun learning a little about Ron before we set off. Our guide, Matt, was informative, engaging, and did a great job mixing Charleston history with the haunted stories. While I'm not really into ghost tours, I still learned quite a bit. In fact, my favorite takeaway wasn't haunted at all - it was learning the difference between a graveyard and a cemetery. This tour also had a digital component as we were prompted to scan the QR code to see photos of the individuals/"ghosts" he was talking about. The tour also gave us another opportunity to see Charleston from a different perspective and this time around I enjoyed riding through the historic streets by carriage. Overall, this experience was much more enjoyable than my first. The company clearly has these tours down to a science and if you're deciding between a daytime tour and the haunted evening tour, I'd surprisingly recommend the latter. I'm glad I gave Old South another chance.
