Liz led my wife and me on a fine tour.

Our tour guide was Liz Legare Duren and she was superb. I had read a lot about Charleston but her personal connection to the town as a many generation resident was something you can't get from books. She really brought many aspects to life both about the city's history and life there today. We had questions about preservation and the like, and she has the detailed knowledge to answer them all. Historic and artistic gates, flower boxes, why she dislikes golf carts proliferating on the city's streets, good places to eat, we learned it all.

A group of friends and I did the Lost Stories of Black Charleston tour. Damon was phenomenal! His passion was palpable. Thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Charleston and Black history in such a personal and engaging way. We ended up running into Damon at lunch afterwards and we were blessed with even more stories!

Did the Lost Stories of Black Charleston tour and got a good expansion and better understanding of some of the standouts within the history of the city. Damon was a good guide and He enjoyed the exchange and debates of the funeral group had regarding history, which is ever-changing once the truth is revealed. Glad we did this!

Damon Fordham took his time to tell us many lost stories and even held our toddler when she got a little fussy!

Was the rest of our trip so underwhelming that our excursion with Lowcountry Walking Tours exceeded all other expectations? Perhaps we just lucked out with the optimal factors to catapult our urban trek to a noteworthy high. I can't point my finger at any particular indicator that the rest of our Charleston trip was subpar, so I'm concluding that our tour was truly outstanding. First off, the late-January weather was flawless; it was perfect for spending a few sun-drenched mid-morning hours strolling around Charleston's French Quarter. Second, Captain Jim kept us entertained with enchanting history lessons, snappy quips, and fascinating details we would have undoubtedly overlooked as unwitting tourists. Finally, we'd opted for the Hidden Alleyways and Passages tour and it did exactly what it says on the tin. We wandered down tucked-away paths that I never would have thought were accessible to the public (let alone take me anywhere desirable). If you're visiting Charleston and looking for an affordable way to learn about the city and obtain a deeper appreciation for its rich history, I unhesitatingly recommend Lowcountry Walking Tours.

Wonderful and knowledgeable tour guide! The tour was interesting and informative! Highly recommend!read more
