It's a corporate big box store & not a specialty shop. A lot of the reviews don't seem to understand the difference. If I need anything super particular I'm going somewhere that knows and has more. Have a super unique plumbing situation? Call a plumber or go to plumbing shop. They'll both offer a lot more help and guidance. If you just need a replacement part for a newer fairly standard toilet at 8pm on a Tuesday they probably have you covered. For a lot of things you'll pay more than you would at Menards. The quality for a lot of things is also higher than Menards tho. Lowe's is fine for what it is. Without a pro membership buying bulk here is usually not the way to go. Most landscaping shops have way better deals with delivery for bulk rock, soil or wood chips. read more

Do not buy appliances from Lowes. I will never buy an appliance again from Lowe's. This winter my fridge was go8ng bad, and I had purchased it from Lowe's along with the extended warranty, which I never buy. The warranty company was fantastic, due to the age of the fridge I received a Lowe's gift card in the amount of the purchase price. Therefore, I went back to Lowe's for the replacement fridge And also purchased the extended warranty. It was delivered on Wednesday. After they left, I put in the food then noticed the interior light wasn't working, then I realized it wasn't on. I wasn't sure if it was defective or if the delivery personnel forgot to plug it in. Called Lowe's. I was still in the return period, which would end on Friday. The recommendation was to return it, rather then waiting for a service call on Friday, as depending on the timing might be after the return window. Multiple phone calls later I spoke with a gentleman at the distribution center who guaranteed I would be the first delivery on a Friday. Obviously by Friday, most of the food in the fridge was ruined, including some medication. the truck showed up at the expected time, and it turned out that it was a defective fridge. After they left, I called the extended warranty company. They wouldn't cover the food loss because I didn't have a service call with a diagnosis. I had spoken with them previously and was expecting them to cover up to $300 in food costs, even though they wouldn't cover the medication. I called the Kalamazoo store where I purchased the fridge and spoke with the manager. He wasn't sure Lowe's would cover the food or medication loss, but was going to send the concern/question on. When I hadn't heard anything in a week I called him back, he hadn't heard anything, but it didn't sound promising. I never heard anything again. I realize it wasn't Lowe's fault that the fridge was defective, but it wasn't mine either and it didn't even work for 5 minutes. Someone, Lowe's or the extended warranty company should have covered this. due to this situation I will never purchase an appliance from Lowe's again. I most likely will never again go to the Kalamazoo store. There is only one way for them to make this right, and thus far they haven't. read more

As I read through the Lowe's West Main Kalamazoo store I have to wonder how they stay in business with such poorly trained employees. I guess you can SHOPLIFT and not worry about "getting caught," returning and getting your money back, but if you just want to EXCHANGE an $18 item for another size, same price, etc., the snotty girl at the "Return Desk" will tell you only with a receipt or phone number, and they say to you, "Have a nice day!" What a joke she is! Management should "shadow" some of their employees occasionally to see how they are treating customers. I vowed NEVER to shop at Lowe's three years ago but unfortunately a friend picked up the wrong item and I didn't have a receipt (or their phone number) so I will make another VOW NOT TO SHOP WHERE THERE'S UNFRIENDLY CUSTOMER SERVICE. Lowe's is an impressively and comprehensively useless company. I have had several encounters, primarily due to the geographic proximity of the store. My experiences have been so bad it's almost laughable. The store on West Main is understaffed with inexperienced people who could care less about customer satisfaction. Whether it's mulch or a washer dryer, trust me, you will end up bitter and disgusted. The good news is that they have so few employees to help you find something, that it's almost like a ghost town and trying to get the appropriate person on the phone requires that you take the day off so you can spend that many hours being transferred to departments who are having a meeting and thus can't help you with the $1300 you just spent on a washer dryer. I WILL BE SHOPPING AT HOME DEPOT FROM NOW ON DESPITE THE FACT THAT IT'S A HALF AN HOUR AWAY. THERE'S A REASON THEY'RE STOCK HAS BEEN PLUMMETING FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS. Ok so this review may be revised as my complaint is in process as I type this. My husband and I ordered new carpet for our bedroom from Lowe's A few weeks ago. It is currently being installed by contractors of Lowe's. The installers have been coming in and out of our house, from a wet and dirty driveway and walking on our brand new carpet with their wet and dirty shoes! I asked them if they were wearing their dirty shoes on our brand new carpet and one of them sheepishly replied yes. I said I'm really not ok with that! And explained that we don't even wear shoes on our own carpet! I asked why they were not wearing covers over their shoes. Their response was "they", assuming they were referring to Lowe's, didn't give them any! Are you kidding me?! I told them had I known, I would have given them some shoe covers because I just happened to have some. They didn't seem to care or even ask for any. While I should not be expected to provide shoe covers for these men, I am NOT ok with them wearing their dirty shoes on my brand new carpet! Therefore, I had my husband give them some and to the best of my knowledge, they are wearing them, but I am not really sure as I'm not in the same room! I am so frustrated that these contractors are so flippant and inconsiderate about wearing their dirty shoes on my new carpet and find this completely unprofessional and unacceptable! I will be contacting Lowe's as soon as they leave and I have had an opportunity to evaluate their work and my carpet. read more

I am remodeling my kitchen and living room, I went into your store 2 times to get bamboo flooring. The first time I was completely ignored! The second time they tried to ignore me but I brought my husband with and he actually went over to the group of 3 employees that were about 12 feet away from us and asked for help. The first guy knew nothing...called Derek over and he could not answer the basic questions I had as to why the price variations due to color of the flooring. I went into Lowe's on West Main St. in Kalamazoo this morning to get window blinds. I couldn't find anyone to help me, so I flagged someone walking by. She said she'd get someone, but if no one came, go to the flooring section or come up front to the cash registers to get help. No one came, so I flagged another guy walking by. He said he'd get help. Again, no one came, so I went to the front registers. The guy there said he had to stay up front. Then he added he'd find someone (this is the third time someone promised to get me help). Again, no one came. This frustrated me immensely. All this time several workers walked by me, but no one offered help. Then I flagged down a fourth person who was working nearby. So, you guessed it, she said she'd get help. Finally she returned saying that the person who could help me was at lunch. I asked how much longer would he be gone. (I had traveled 30 miles to be there, so it wasn't like I could just come back.) She had no idea. Then she suggested I come back Saturday because the guy who worked Saturday could order me the blinds. This make no sense. If the store is open, someone should be available to help me. So, in essence, the store is open, but if you want help with blinds, only come on Saturday. You won't get any help otherwise. Whoever the store manager is should know this is how his store is operating. This is not good. read more

Absolute worst service I have ever had with a Lowe's. We ordered our appliances nearly 2 months ago and we've had nothing but issues with the order. The order was pushed back twice and then day before the appliances were supposed to be shipped (1 month later), the order was cancelled because they 'couldn't confirm our payment'. The payment was taken for the microwave but for some reason couldn't go through for the fridge and oven that we're in the same order. We called the store on this issue who then made us drive all the way out to the store to have us re order the items. They claimed that the order was supposed to come from the Portage store even though the receipt clearly stated the Kalamazoo location. They then said our items wouldn't be shipped for another month because the items that we ordered were lost and no longer in stock. This was a complete lie as the items were supposed to be delivered that day. After the associate went back twice and looked, they found our fridge and stove and said it would be delivered Saturday. Friday morning we received an email stating the items would be delivered that day and someone would need to be home to let the movers in. My fiancé and I both work full time and need more notice than the morning of that our appliances are going to be delivered early. When the movers arrived they stated that they couldn't find our fridge so they brought the floor model instead. The floor model they brought has scratches all down the side of the fridge and a dent in the bottom freezer door. We called the store back and said this was unacceptable. Molly, the manager at the time, said she would look in the back and give us a call right back. 2 hours of waiting later we finally called the store back only to find out she hadn't made any attempt to look. We waited on the line while she went back to look for our fridge and she was finally able to locate it. They shipped it the following day but when the movers arrived there was a basketball sized dent in the front 2 doors of our brand new, out of the box fridge. We once again called the store back and spoke with the store director who said he would see what he could do and would call us back. 3 days later and we hadn't heard a word, we called the store back and spoke with Molly again who said she would check with the store director and get and update and call us right back. We waited all night and unsurprisingly didn't hear back from them. Once again we called the store back today to try and figure out where our fridge was that we had been waiting nearly 2 months for only for them to tell us that there's one on the way but they have no idea when it will be here. Extremely disappointed with the entire experience and would never recommend online orders from this store. Associates are extremely unprofessional and could care less about their customers. Due to the large variety of things one can buy at a place like this it is an obvious choice when doing home improvements or replacing that old microwave. The prices are about he same most of the time as other places nearby but the reason a place gets stars taken away is usually customer service... No all of the time! I suppose that most of the staff here are either college kids or older folks that have a retirement income. of some fashion and they are supplementing. I have found that the older staff are usually friendly and willing to help but the younger staff are here between classes and avoiding homework and are not really willing to take the time with you and even of they do...they don't know much about the products you are inquiring about. It's hard to spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars here unless you have done your homework before you arrived; then you're good. read more

This review is specifically for the purchase of our new dryer. Our dryer broke on a Sunday and we immediately were in crisis mode,#firstworldproblems right? So we headed into Lowes to pick out a new one. Employees were friendly and helpful and quickly set us up with a new dryer and delivery for the following week. *note: gas dryers, which we needed, need to ordered, they only have electric in stock. Flash forward a week....Dryer was delivered on time as expected. Delivery arrived at 8:55am and they were done and gone by 9:30am. Made the mistake of buying a new refrigerator at this store on 10/15 and the main shelf came cracked. Been trying since 10/15/19 to get Lowe's to replace the part. I've been lied to by the Appliance department, hung up on, cussed out and placed on hold never to have someone return. Customer care is worthless and says to be patient. How much more patient do I need to be? At this point, I want to return the refrigerator and get my money back. Wish I could leave 0 stars. As being in the retail business for over 25 years I've neve seen management not take care of their customers it is absolutely ridiculous I was there for a few months and customers were struggling to get assistance Non-Stop and all I did was to make sure these customers had assistance because everyone else had no idea what to do and that goes back to management ...ridiculous and that's why all the employees want to go to the Portage location which is approximately 5 miles away.. so anyways just to give you a heads up when you had a very valuable employee that can make a difference... and I get it sometimes we get complacent .. last 25 years and all I've been an operations manager and I've never seen anything like it.. they need some immediate assistance because that facility should and could be doing 25 35% more Revenue per year which in turn creates the p&l report which in turn create profit sharing which in turn creates the 401K which benefits all over us but I've never seen anything like it.. thank you so much for listening...but this facility can do so much better read more

We recently underwent a kitchen remodel through Lowe's "professional" installation services. The project took nearly a year to complete and we were highly unsatisfied with the workmanship. They did damage to our kitchen furniture, stove, trim and flooring as well as to our brand new cabinets, which we paid them to install. We had to oversee the project ourselves and micromanage the contractors every step of the way. We'll never use Lowe's installation services again. read more

I went in to the Lowes in oshtemo Michigan because I had bought a Bosch router kit and had made 3 passes with it and it stopped working. Martha at the customer service desk was rude and unprofessional in how she talked to me. Pointing to a sign about 30 day returns on power tools. Sue I had owned it more than 30 days but I only got 3 passes with the 230$ router before it stopped working. She offered no help on how to resolve the problem. And just pointed at the sign. I have never in my life been subject to such poor customer service. I'm out 230$ and am stuck with a partially finished project. read more

I've had a horrible experience and will not be returning!! My refrigerator is dying, the freezer no longer works, so I needed one yesterday!! I ordered a refrigerator August 23,2016 from the Lowes on Westmain. I was told I couldn't have the store model, but there was one in stock in the warehouse and it would only be one week for delivery. When I didn't hear from Lowes, I called to see when it would be delivered. I was told the order was put in wrong, as a "special order" so they didn't have it. It took until the next day to be told it would be in September 9th. I asked if she would have a manager or supervisor call me, never received the call. September 8th I called the delivery dept to make sure everything was ok and also talked to a manager to see if I could get the price knocked down a little more because of all the hassle. I was told they had taken off all they could. Now keep in mind I had two different people on the line that looked up my information and never told me anything was wrong with my order. The next morning I waiting all morning for a call to let me know if it was coming morning or afternoon. Finally at 9:20 I call them. Delivery person tells me the morning truck already went out and they are loading the truck and will call me, again he had all my information up to see. So my day has been wasted and I'm stuck not going to far waiting for this mysterious call to come. Now it is after noon and still no call. I finally call again, this time asking for the appliance department to see if they can tell me anything. He pulls my information up, "well it looks like it is being delivered on Monday". I lost it! I had them on the phone twice the night before and in the morning, but no one had the decency to tell me it wasn't even in there store! I stopped at Best Buy, found the same refrigerator and they price matched my husbands military discount. They have 17 of them sitting in Chicago and should be delivered within 6 days. I stopped by Lowes and cancelled my order, I really don't think anyone cared, the manager was right there and I think he is the one I talked to, but he said no I didn't talk to you. Now keep in mind every time I called them, they wanted to know the best number to reach me at and I gave them my cell since this is for a rental property. I arrive home to have my husband tell me Lowes called about the refrigerator!! What is wrong with these people, Lowes use to be a great store, not anymore!! read more

Horrible experience. First, we spent a lot, and I mean a lot of money doing a kitchen model. All went well except some minor ups and downs that typically go along with such a huge job. Note: Lowes contracted out the install. We then chose to do a bathroom remodel. WE chose to go with another contractor because of the price $8k cheaper! Problem #1-Wrong type of tile order and had to be reorder Problem #2-Cabinets were from Villa Beth and all but one of the cabinets had to be replaced because they were damaged. Had to be reordered Problem#3-Cabinet person ordered the wrong type of sink base. We were told the the style we wanted only came in a 36 inch sink base and that was wrong, it only came in a 30 inch sink base. Had to be reordered again. Problem #3-The second order for the sink base cabinet came in and once again it was wrong! Had to be reordered a 3rd time. I'm getting hot at this point!!! Problem 3a-When we were at the store returning the second sink base, we noticed that it was the wrong style of cabinet. We requested/ordered Sandalwood and we received Monroe. Yes, Monroe cost more!!! Because it would take another 2-2 weeks to order all new cabinets we chose to keep them and hope that we would be reimbursed for the difference in price. Nothing yet! It;s been almost 2 weeks and no cabinet. Problem 4-I called our design person and she said that they would compensate us for all of the inconveniences and that even though it's no excuse, there were too many hands in the pot, I could give a damn how many people were involved..the point it, nothing has gone right, The design person offered a $150.00 gift card. We received it and attempted to use it and when we got our receipt back it said that it was issued for 107.42. How in the world do you get 107.42 out of $150.00??? So, I went in to file an official complaint and spoke with the store manager and she did give me the difference in cash for what the gift card should have been issued for in the first place. This is the clincher, she said I hear that you are asking for some type of compensation and what do you want. IT should be, this is what we are offering you! /Then she had the nerve to say..": If you have any future projects, we could make it worth your while and give you a great discount" Really, why in the world would we purchase anything else from Lowes, let alone do another big project? I also explained to her that I felt that if Lowes had done in the install, this wouldn't be happen. Her only response was," we don't do business like that". Our goal is to satisfy all of our customer. I AM NOT SATISFIED. I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER ITEM FROM LOWES AND OR RECOMMEND THEIR SERVICES! read more
