When I drove my car with the spare tire to Alpine, I was desperate and out in the middle of nowhere & all auto shops are closed. Headed into the gas station & Sharon was so nice to call the owner of Auto Glass Alpine on the other side of the street for me. Eventually the owner, Vance, from the auto shop came in and helped me put on a tire that I could rely on & drive back home. It's a 500ish miles away and the doughnut would not make it that far away. I'm so thankful for all helps the people here offered me. PS - Because I was in such bad luck, bought a lottery scratch and killed the time waiting Vance.

The tour of the dairy farm was the absolute highlight of my most recent Marfa trip. Melinda and Alan were incredibly welcoming and hospitable. In addition, to learning all about the cheese making process, how the goats are cared for, and how the dairy was founded - we also got to learn all about how our hosts wound up in Marfa running a dairy, as well as great local insight into Marfa and the surrounding areas. I simply can't rave enough about them both. In addition to that, let's not forget the other highlights of the trip - getting to pet cute, friendly goats to your heart's content AND sample some delicious cheeses. Unfortunately, it was not the right time of year for fresh cheese so we couldn't purchase any, but what we were able to sample was SO GOOD. A visit to this active dairy farm is a great way to spend an hour or so in this kitsch little art town located in the middle of the Texas desert and mountains.

They didn't have any pre-packed so I grabbed the "Hot-N-Spicy" variety - love them. My oldest chose "mocha madness" while my youngest gravitated towards chocolate fudge. My total came out to $91.96. While they do not shell the pecans themselves, they get them from the Pecan Capital of the World, San Saba, Texas. I walked away with three small individual bags and a 5-flavors "Texas" round tin for an early birthday gift for a special someone, my mom. I can't wait for her to open it because I forgot what flavors I chose. LOL. The pecans aren't overwhelmed by any of the flavors, even chocolate. I really liked how the sweet ones were only lightly sweet, and not candied. We enthusiastically bought several bags and made a note to order some for friends at the holidays. My favorite is the spicy jalapeño!
