Coming from Houston, this is a tiny little Walmart but it serves the community well. The associates were somewhat friendly and they had plenty of self check out registers. Some of the aisles are kind cramped because of space. And when I say this Walmart is tiny, you can see the electronics department clearly from the door. It's good for a quick errand run and clearance shopping. If you're staying at the hotels in the area, I recommended stocking up with snacks here as everything in this town seems to be closed and done by 9pm. read more

Yeah, I hate to pile on but this is hands down the worst Walmart I've ever been to. I've been lax in not putting this review up for a long while but in my defense it appears that nothing's changed in the meantime. The interior of the store is clean enough but the outside parking area is horrific, with several choke points and trash. Inside, there are several departments that look disorganized and the check out (which I admit has never been all that fast) was molasses-slow and dispirited. The best part? Where the cashier simply dumped an entire package of cooked chicken strips into my bag, letting it split open...and when I got home to eat, the damn things were dry and leathery tasting. I don't blame the cashier for that part...these things were a lost cause as soon as they were taken out of the fryer. Hopefully corporate will take a gander at this outlet, but given that people still show up en masse here, I'm guessing that 'good enough' gets the job done. read more

Woah. A Californian is going to be the first to review a Walmart in Ft. Stockton, Texas. My family and I were coming from a three week vacation from Mexico, and we needed to buy some necessities after driving for a constant eight hours. Big headache. When we first got there, I was kind of shocked. This Walmart is TINY! There is a new Super Walmart where I live in and this Walmart is probably like 1/8th the size of it. I mean, it is really small. I guess perhaps because Ft. Stockton isn't that big, I assume. Even being a tiny Walmart, they had the items we needed. I so happy about that! They do have the much needed necessities for people living in Ft. Stockton too. Too bad I probably won't be coming here ever again. hahaha read more

Whenever I go in here to print photos, the machines are down or they are out of photo paper. There is no stock on hand to replenish it. These items come from a regional distribution center. Worst Wal-Mart I have ever been in. Only checkout is self checkout. So you go load your buggy and then you have to then become an employee for your next step. Without training mind you. You get to run your very own checkout. So once you go and load this big bent wheel buggy full of groceries you get the pleasure of checking yourself out and bagging all of the wonderful items it just took you forever to find. Oh and let me tell you once you get to the produce you're in for a real treat. You get to play the search game all over again trying to find the right item in this self contained hell hole of a program. I'm not an employee of Wal-Mart, I don't get insurance or benefits from Wal-Mart so why the hell do they think I want to check myself out after the hour of walking the isles loading this out of alignment buggy. While checking myself out I was having an issue scanning some ribs. Scanned one too many times. Tried to delete it and it says I have to have a customer rep do the delete. Wow. So there I am still waiting around for a teller. Ok cool at first no big deal right. Wrong, I have a fella standing 3' from me watching me struggle, Won't even acknowledge me when I ask for help, So I toss the ribs at the scanner and he looks at me. I tell him if they want my money someone is fixing to help. He said he was not allowed to. A lady from the other side of the cattle pin runs over to assist. I thank her. I step back and look things over. There you are on a big ass camera and also being watched by 1-2 more people to scan your items to make sure you don't scan a 80'' TV as a pack of double mint gum but yet they can't open a line where you throw all your items on a nice conveyer belt and it has to go through them. Why not? there was 3 employees standing there watching the cattle struggle at their nice little self checkout pin. Looks like you have enough people employed to have one or two full service checkouts open at least. But you get the stank eye like you're doing something wrong. Oh and then the greatest slap in the face not 20' from where you just went through this god awful experience your stopped at the doors to have someone look over your receipt. You should of had your ass there watching me scan and bag too then. If this is a trial run for you to convert more Wal-Marts into self checkouts only I'm out. Stopped here after a trip down to Big Bend National Park. Large parking lot with a gravel section out front for Semi and over-flow parking accessible from the main road. No signage suggesting they do not want over night parking (just no idling), so we stayed the night in our class A coach along with several other campers. There is a truck stop behind the store to the north with a large open gravel lot as well. We appreciate being able to make use of these parking lots without inconveniencing the local shopping traffic. read more

Stopped in here while passing through Fort Stockton, and I must say I was impressed. This is not a big walmart, but it is a nice one. Overall, very clean. Even the parking lot was trash free, and there weren't a lot of stray carts lying around (that could either be a testament to Walmart being on top of their game, or to the people of Ft Stockton just being very courteous.. We may never know lol). The interior of the store was a LOT smaller than I have ever seen, but it had the basics. Enough to be called a supercenter, I reckon. The people were friendly, and not just the employees. It appeared to be a true small town walmart, where everyone is just plain friendly to everyone. Hands down the worst walmart Ive ever been in. No one ever offers help when you're waiting at a counter, and they literally only have 1 lane open most of the time. This checker they have is nice enough, but shes incredibly slow. Averages 20 minutes per cart. Not to mention the managers just stand around the long lines watching everyone wait. This is a great little Supercenter. Not as big as some in larger cities, but it had everything we needed. Grocery selection is good. We needed a cooler and felt the selection was good. Small clothing sections, but had basics. There were 2 registers open in addition to self scan, but no lines. Staff interacted with us and loved our baby. read more

I could stand the fact that it's small, that the aisles are narrow and cluttered, that most of the employees don't speak English and therefore can't help you, and that some items are in short supply (like bottled water!!!), but only having one checkout lane open when there is a line of about 10-12 people waiting is not excusable. Not only is this the worst Wal-Mart I've ever been to, i think it is the worst store I've ever been to. I was spending the winter in Fort Stockton and this is the only major retailer in town. The store is so small to the point that there is no where for large check out lines to go, that if you come in and want to turn to go in that direction, it is nearly impossible. Some aisles can barely fit 2 passing carts. I also heard that this was their new, bigger Wal-Mart, OMG! Their selection of items are minimal, but alright for just the basics. The meat and bread products are all so close to expiration that you would have to use it all that day or freeze it all. I always had a hard time EVER finding a soft, fresh loaf of bread or pack of buns so I bought those at another store. During my visit, I needed to have a prescription transferred from home. Since I didn't need it right away when I brought it in, I told them I'd come in Sun. which was 3 days away. When I had came in to pick it up, they had lost it so it wasn't filled and then had to wait over a hour and had been bounced to three different windows. The town has become a majority Spanish speaking town so some of the staff seemed to not know what I was asking if I asked them a question and it appeared at times that other Spanish speaking customers were helped before me even if I was there first. If you care about your car, WATCH where you park. There are carts left everywhere and alot of people drive down the wrong rows. I only gave this store one star because I couldn't give it a zero and the cashiers that do speak English to you are friendly. read more

This store is smaller but well stocked. Some things are in areas that you wouldn't expect them to be. Every employee I encountered until checkout was pleasant and helpful. However, once we got to checkout, not one single checkout was open. The only option was self checkout. With a basketful of items this is frustrating to say the least. Like others have said, it's small for a Walmart. Staff at front counter were friendly enough, but those at the entertainment area knew nothing about the cell phones or SIM card packs and weren't overly interested in helping us, to the point of being rude and taking forever to even come help us to start with. Should also point out I knew more about what the cell plans could do than the staff and I don't even live in the US! Staff didn't know a lot about their stock in general. The lady at the pharmacy counter did actually know exactly where certain stock was and was the nicest in the store, but still a little less friendly than other Walmarts around Texas. FYI - they sell beer & wine but no hard liquor (not sure if the same as all Walmart stores but as a tourist we were after vodka and couldn't get any) The 2 stars are because, well it's Walmart, it's cheap and they have a decent enough range (compared to what I'd find in Australia in a similar type town). read more

Went here from my drilling rig. It is one of the best places to go this far out in West Texas. I came at 08:00, there were very few folks here shopping. Talking with friends and co-workers this is the best time to go. They have 0% organic fat free milk. The store was stock well. It was easy to get around the store. The restrooms were very clean. The store was clean and well organized. It has lots of Latin style food. If you are from Houston or Dallas it has less than you are accustomed too. It is the smallest Super Center I have been to. The manager greets customers and is very friendly. My complaint is that no one was checking. They only had self check out in the morning. All Wal Mart team members were doing something besides waiting on the customer. They need to address this issue. Oilfield team members are the bread and butter of this store due to activities in the area. Many drive 50 miles one way to shop here. A little personal service would be nice. read more

Couldn't find a knit hat, so this was laid out poorly. Also, my friend tried to buy five bags of ice and he was overcharged by $.12 per bag. When he went to go to the people who can help you with that, they only gave him $.16 back. He was like, math!!!!! Some of the products are broken. Went late at night to pick up a few items, when I went to checkout the cashier barely acknowledged me and then when I received my change she told me she shorted me a dime. Then she proceeded look on the floor and other registers for it and walking away from the register. I came from a big city with a much bigger walmart but I don't judge a book by its cover. I had gone to this walmart several times and every single time there where products all over the floor or in baskets while there were several empty shelves right next to those baskets. A lot of the items were not put up. And be prepared to wait at least 20 minutes when you ask for help. It is ridiculous! ! I love walmart but I will gladly pay for something that is more expensive at another store with better customer service!! I even got to talk to a long time employee that was going to quit due to the unorganized store and not getting proper training on her new position. Another time when a cashier was checking me out, he had over charged me by scanning the most expensive shirt and typing in how many shirts I had. Even though they were different styles. Not happy and will avoid this place if at all possible. There was another time when i saw a broken product on the shelf. A week later i went back and the broken product was still there. No star rating. They changed the store and have mainly self checking. For older genders standing in line for hour not good. Terrible cashier did not know how to pack groceries put eggs in bottom of bag and was going to place other items on top. Then handed me the eggs and said I could carry them. He did not have enough change for register and we had to wait again. Tried to talk to another worker about the store and his reply mainly was the cashier only get up to $12.00 an hour. Is this the customers problem? Not the first time we have had problems with this Walmart. We drive an hour one way because it is the only one that close to us. The worst Walmart experience ever. The service is horrible every time you go in the store and do not ever use the photo center or service desk it will be an experience you forever regret. They only ever have two checkout lines in use and checkout takes at least 30 min. We used to drive over an hour to go to this store because it was the closest Walmart to us. I am A citizen Of Fort Stockton Texas. I have lived here over a year now. I can not rate this store because my rating does not show which is poor. This Store at times can be good but for most part they never have what you need because it is not in stock because the people who run certain departments do not know how to do inventory Electronics is a big one they never have the ink for the Epson Printer fax machine that I bought at that exact store#00897. As well as there toy department when it came Christmas time the lack of or quality of toys was very poor. Another instance I was looking for something in the store I walked up to a woman and asked her where something was she looked at me and said sorry so speak English. Now I am try being nice and politically correct haha but someone from Walmart need to fix the problems in our little towns Walmart. If I need ink for my printer or to buy my son a toy I do not want to have or do I have time to drive to Odessa Texas But if some one from the main office odes not try to fix this people will start going else where.
