As a county park, there is a no-alcohol policy. While I'm sure some people discreetly partake, that policy adds to the family friendly atmosphere. Our campsite was in the middle with very little privacy or shade, but we walked around and it was one of the only "bad" spots in the place. I reserved it unseen and shortly before we went, so I was just glad to have a spot. If I come again, I'll reserve in advance and get a water view. For us, the camping was secondary as we spent most of the day out on the water. There is a boat launch for larger vessels and a great big parking area to leave your truck and trailer. We were able to park near the grass and air up our inflatable SUPs pretty close to where we put in. We put in near the beach and spent the day paddling around and it was great fun. It's a lovely lake and we had a great time, but not the "most amazing" lake to paddle by any means. I would come again, next time with friends!

The trailer brakes, Bimini top and partial winterization was not completed. They shipped the boat not ready. Service has been un satisfactory so far. I paid out of pocket to remedy the issues and get repairs fixed so that the boat was functional/towable. Still waiting for a response for some sort of reimbursement on repairs. it is now June. Started off with a phone call to the Coos Bay dealership, inquiring about a boat I had seen on…read moretheir website. They said it was available, so I made arrangements to fly in from N. California. I gave them a weeks' notice and asked if they could have the boat brought down from there Florence dealership, they agreed. I confirmed the day before arrival that I was going to be at the dealership around 1pm, once I arrived, I was told that they were not able to bring the boat down and I would need to drive an hour away to the Florance dealership to see the boat. I can understand if they didn't have time to bring the boat down to Coos Bay on only a possibility of a boat sale, but if they would have told me that they were unable to, and I would have just drove Stright there from the airport and not wasted my time going to the Coos Bay dealership. The salesperson (Brian) said he would go with me to the Florence dealership, but they were extremely busy (there was not one customer in site), so I said no problem and just went myself. I took a look at the boat, spoke with a very nice and knowledgeable guy from the Florance dealership and headed back to the Coos Bay dealership to discuss buying the boat. Called Brian and let him know I was on my way, but he was at home already (3:30) and that we could go over final pricing on Monday. I was thinking, I came all this way and was going to buy this boat that day but needed to wait until Monday now. (Note, boat sales are very slow, and Y Marina is closing the Florance Dealership down, but couldn't take a little extra time that day to sell a 100K plus boat). Call on Monday, settled on a price for the Boat, ask if they would be interested in also setting up the boat with electronics and kicker motor and asked for the addition cost, they said sure thing and they would get back to me that afternoon or the following morning. I didn't hear back, so I called the following day to finalize the deal and asked why I had not heard back from them sooner, then I was told that the boat was sold to someone else. I mentioned that we had agreed to a price and the boat was sold and that I was just waiting on the accessory pricing and installation lead time. They offered no apology and just said that there Florence store sold the boat and didn't communicate that with them. I said it seems that you do not communicate well with each other and that the boat should not have been sold out from underneath me. I have seen good reviews about this dealership, and it might have been this way at one time, but my experience showed me that they are very disconnected and scattered and communicate poorly with potential customers. I don't think sales work very well this way in a slow market (or any market). I guess maybe they got comfortable with the hot boat sales market of the past and it shows. I ended up buying a boat and Clemens Marina. Very knowledgeable staff and communicated well and great pricing. Y Marina missed out on $150K sale, due to lack of effort, scattered and poor sales Commnication.

I'm camping here in my RV. They have over 120 sites. You can stay for up to three months. Currently…read morethere are two or three RVs here and I have a whole section to myself. It's boondocking, no utilities, although there are picnic tables and bbqs. There is a dump and potable water. The dump is $10 and the water is $5 for campers. Many of the spaces are pull throughs and quite wide. It's so quiet and peaceful here. I can see the boats from my windows. I've seen a Harbor seal a few times when I take my dog out. We stare at each other. I've also seen cormorants, buffleheads, and other seabirds. And a coyote. The marina is near the Umpqua lighthouse and I recommend touring it. Reedsport is a few miles north on the 101 and Coos Bay/North Bend is about twenty miles south. There are good restaurants in Winchester Bay. Gas and propane prices are very high. You can buy propane for a dollar less than what they charge here if you drive the few miles to Reedsport.

They will tell you where to go. The boats are your standard 14'.5' aluminum boat with a 9 HP outboard on it. The motor ran great, it was also new for the season. You need to leave your card as a deposit. I'm not crazy about doing that, but not a big deal. They guy working there was very nice and helpful. The store is pretty small, but has plenty of snacks and drinks as well as fishing supplies and bait, live and refrigerated. I'm not leaving a five star for one reason, they require you to clean the boat when you get back. I was beat from pulling pots and really not in the mood to wash down a boat. They have a hose, so you basically wash everything down to the back and then use a pail to remove the water. The positive is they had the hose right there on the dock next to the boat. I brought my own pots so it was nice to wash them down there instead of later. Big plus for me.

You pay in the store and they do charge an extra percent if you're paying with a card (don't remember how much) which is a tad annoying but you get over it. Then it's time to head to the boat and meet the extremely friendly and funny crew to head out to sea. The way the crabbing works is that they set pots in the morning and then whichever boat you're on, you pick up a string of pots along the way. Pot after pot the crab were overflowing and everyone has to help! Watch out for the claws, those crabs aren't playing around. We had great luck and caught a TON of crabs. I highly recommend having the crabs cooked & cleaned onsite. We paid under $20 for 34+ crabs. We had crab for weeks! Cost is reasonable, $55 per adult and seemed pretty kid friendly above the age of 5 or so. Will definitely do again!
