The next year we booked a couple of charters (the bottom fish and the long leader ) with Prowler charters based mostly on the reasonable price compared to other charters in the area and they did not disappoint! It is family owned and run from the office to the ocean and they are helpful and happy to help. Our whole family have been on 3 bottom fish / long leader trips since and caught our limit every time. This week my son and I went out on the tuna trip which was a long day as you have to go out really far to hit the hot spots but, man it was worth it! Captain Wayne navigated the area like a champ and we were hitting multiple fish... up to 7 fish on at a to time more than once and I gotta say the chaos ran like clock work with the 'tuna system' they have going and everyone was involved in the team effort following the lead of the crew! Probably the best day fishing of my life... we packed it in after landing 102 big tuna on board! We will be back, you can count on that!

Eel Lake is in the William M.Tugman State Park. It is also the deepest lake in the chain of lakes along the Oregon Coast and is approximately 355 total acres. Wonderful fishing opportunities here with large mouth black bass, crappie, rainbow trout, steelhead, and co-ho salmon. Other water activities include swimming, canoeing, kyacking, sailing, and boating. There is also a 6 mile moderate trail ( Eel Lake Trail) that will take you along the beautiful Lake where you may encounter deers, and even be lucky enough to see an eagle. Enjoy !

Its a lovely location with comfortable, clean rooms right on the river. We walked around the property in the evening to settle our nerves and slept well. In the morning, I let the innkeeper know the tow truck would come to get the car. I asked if I could purchase something for our breakfast since we only had snacks for dinner...She found some oranges and oatmeal. A half hour later, she and her husband arrived with hot plates loaded with pancakes, hash browns and sausage for us. What amazing generosity! It got us started on a positive note as we waited for a tow truck and wondered how we would get to our homes in Santa Cruz, CA. I highly recommend the inn and the people who operate it, too.

There's a small sand beach on the lake, a playground, lots of open spaces and some trails. The lake has a 10mph speed limit so you don't have to suffer from the wakeboard/ski crowd and their blaring stereos competing for whose music is least bad. ATVs aren't allowed to operate there either so it stays mostly quiet. BAD: To no fault of the park, it is at the base of a grade on Hwy 101 and so the noise of trucks (and the cosplaying 'look at me' guys on Harley's) climbing and Jake braking while descending the hill really makes relaxing outside when it's otherwise quiet difficult to impossible. You can hear the louder ATV's on the dunes to the west too. The weekdays are especially bad for trucks. As you've probably gathered, I like my outdoors quiet, so if you're a party camper who makes noise, this noise probably just fine and this would be a 5 star park. If you like quiet, then 3.

For my husband's birthday I decided to give him a charter fishing trip. We woke up bright and early and signed in. My husband told me to take seasick pill even after I told him that I don't get seasick. I kind of think this was the cause because... Yep, you guessed it, after we were on the bumpy water and I had caught one whole fish, I started feeding the fish. My entire trip was me feeding fish. Oh, wait, except the one time I decided to feed try the reel again and slipped going head to head with the fish in the bins beneath me. I could have sworn one was screaming "Nooooooo!!!!" As I was trying to avoid him. The crew was so amazing! They had to try and balance taking care of me along with the many fishermen/women/kids. They even changed location of smoking because I told them it was making it worse for me (yes, they smoke on the boat). The crew caught my fish for me so when hubby and the rest were finished we had plenty of fish. I highly recommend taking this charter and plan on going again sooner than later...but without the seasick pills. Really, I think that was the cause. ;) ........ .. .... ....................

We left the dock around 7:30, cruised out about 20 minutes and had fish on as soon as we dropped our lines. We caught so many fish we started throwing back the small ones. On the way back in we opted to pull the crab pots...came home with 8 nice crab. We paid Jim $1 per fish to filet and package them for us. Bring an ice chest! We went back to our rental house and had an amazing fish fry and crab fest!
