I purchased a couple 175hp engines and they did a nice install, however I had issues with the…read morecommunication to my gauges most importantly no fuel gauge In the beginning, they seemed to try to assist me at 1st and then they threw me under the bus from then on when they could not help me correct the issues. Also, they left a battery cable loose, which fried my master raymarine display because of poor connections. I found this out because I thought I had dead batteries when I brought the boat home. The display was not working properly. Which always worked. Also my radio said low battery voltage. I then purchased two batteries as soon as I brought the boat home because the engines were hard to start when I realize one of the cables was extremely loosely connected when i went to install the batteries. Not even tightened down at all. I end up having to buy a new master display because of the spike voltages from the cable connections being loose and also bought 2 new batteries. I was stuck with them too since I did not return them because they were to hard to remove. Another thing that happened was I had a broken brake line on my trailer that was brought to my attention from them. This was caused by someone else who just installed new brakes. I Drove 500 miles to have them install the engines and you would think they would offer to take care of my brakes, but that did not get done even though I asked them to fix it and would pay them. I had to drive all the way back home without brakes on my trailer through the mountains. They didn't have time for fixing it. Fortunately, I am very knowledgeable electrically and mechanically so during the winter I was able to correct the issues on my own by doing a lot of research. It cost me about $1250 extra to get it right but now. I'm very happy with the way my boat is set up. They do not return calls should you have any minor questions. Just my 2 cents.

Stopped by Mel's Marine today to get a steering rod for my outboard and they didn't have the part…read moreand would have to order it for me. I recognized a man who had helped me with the same part several years ago and told him the same part had broke again. He told me several years ago that don't be surprised if it happens again. He even installed the part on my boat for me. After I told him my story this year he looked again for the part and couldn't find it but told me he would look to see if he had a used part I could buy. He was gone awhile but came back with a used part and sent me on my way. Great customer service. Thank you Mel's Marine

The people on staff are actually paddlers and/or rowers, so they understand what it's all about. Their small retail location is generally well-stocked, and if there's something they don't have, they'll get it. Returns are painless and easy. Fair prices, and they do custom work if you want something special built for you. Do I miss Oregon River Sports? Well, yeah, kind of. It probably took them closing shop for Oregon Paddle Sports to be able to open a retail shop. The only complaint is their online catalog is really difficult to use, and has no prices. But they're not a mail order shop; they are a retail store! Thanks for being around for us!

The only problem was we continued to have water behind the driver's seat as before. They had us bring it back in to find the problem. Long story short the problem was a blocked drain tube (and nothing to do w/the top). They were so kind and went over and above to correct a problem which wasn't in any way connected to the top replacement. The Miata drain tubes are hard to get to and it took them a lot of time and effort to get to them and clean them out but it was done...for free...and with a smile. I hope we don't need their services again anytime soon but would recommend them to all!
