I got myself involved as a seller in a lease/option contract that went sour when the tenant buyer defaulted on several payments, and even tried to claim a forged payment receipt was legit. I wrote or incorporated most of the contract on my own, thinking with my journalism background I could write a clearly worded and understood contract. Wrong! After the other party and me got into a dispute, I called in Justin Lowenthal to help clean up the mess. It was a generally unpleasant and stressful experience, but would have been worse without Justin's help and guidance. In fact, another attorney whom consulted with Justin and I commented that Justin's grasp of the situation was correct and better than some other attorney's he dealt with. We eventually settled the dispute in a sort of compromise, but I'm not faulting Justin at all. I think he did the best he could under the circumstances of having a rigid opposing party and an arbitrator who was surprisingly forgiving of the tenants' breaches. I screwed up by writing a dogs**t contract in the beginning, as Justin aptly described it, so I'm to blame, and much smarter and wiser for the experience. I would certainly use Justin again if ever needed, and I will never again try to write my own contract. That's a job for the experts, like Justin. In February 2019, we purchased a home through Lyon RE. During the real estate process my husband and I were concerned about items we felt were not properly addressed. I tried to schedule an appointment to speak with an attorney about his experience and before you can speak to anyone you have to fill out what they call an intake form. My issue with that is that there is a lot of personal information that doesn't pertain to their experience. I do NOT want to waist their time or mine if they do not specialize in dealing with HOA's.
