I have used Dr Felton for over 20 years. The first time when my dog got into snail bait and nearly died, he saved her and she went on to have a long life, only a little bit dumber. (good thing as heelers can be smarter than humans) He has since taken care of many of my pets and horses. He is very very busy nowdays due to not enough vets in the area. So if you have to pay a bit extra to be seen quickly, he is worth it. And yes for routine care there is a 2 month wait. Just as there is at my regular Drs office. read more

The wonderful Dr Felton and team at Lower Umpqua Veterinarian Clinic saved Max. After a routine surgery on Wednesday done at a clinic in Coos Bay Max went into Hemolytic Anemia Crisis,although at the time we did not know it. There are too many unfavorable details that I care not to share about the clinic that performed the surgery. What I choose to focus on is the caring people at Dr Felton's office that went above and beyond over and over to save Max. Every single person on his team were amazing, kind and caring. Dr Felton spent so much time with Max and myself. Giving me honest input and options throughout his care. Max went into acute renal failure secondary to hemalytic anemia. Thursday when I brought Max in all we knew at the time is we needed to treat the renal failure and then figure out why he was in it so we could treat the cause. It was a blessing to watch this intelligent,kind man in action working through all the clinical signs and symptoms, labs and tests while treating the obvious serious kidney failure at hand while looking for a cause. Today at the follow up visit Dr Felton and his team was happy as I to see that Max had improved RBCs and H&H with normal kindey function. In addition testing showed that his cells were normal no more hemolysis. Max was so excited to get his IV out. He literally ran around the office checking everything out. His appetite has not been great. He had a few oz chicken last night and the day before but for the most part not wanting to eat. On our way home I asked him if he wante a cheeseburger, he perked up so we went through the DQ and got him a burger he could hardly wait to eat it. He at 3/4 of the burger, I limited the bun to 1/4 or so. Wanted to make sure his little body could handle this big first meal. We are moving in the right direction and we are no longer in life-saving mode. He is out of the woods for now. We may never know exactly what put him into hemolytic anemia crisis he may need to be on long term steroids to prevent it again since we do not know if it is a primary or secondary cause. He could have an underlying issue that we are not aware of yet or it could have been a trigger from surgery meds...its hard to say for now. The joyful part is I have more time with my little guy and I am forever grateful for this additional time. Thank you Dr Felton and team!!!! read more

Called 2 vets in Florence one couldn't see any emergencies till July and the other the line was busy for over one hour so I called lower Umpqua and they could see us today What an AWESOME vet such a nice man and Jesse the receptionist was awesome too. I live 30 minutes south of here, but I will drive to Reedsport for my pets because this is just an all around better veterinary clinic than what we have local. They are very reasonably priced, and are able to see all my pets (cats and birds), rather than just cats & dogs. They also make you an appointment instead of first come, first serve, which is really nice so you don't waste all day waiting. I originally only went here because of my birds, and needing an avian vet, but I'm planning on going here for all my pets, as needed. read more

This place is fantastic I know they are very busy but we are from out of town and they waited for us with our very sick dog in renal failure . After 14+ years with us, we had to take our dog Joey in to say goodbye. When we arrived for our scheduled appointment, the inept staff informed me that I had called earlier to cancel but I never cancelled. They said they were sorry but they would squeeze us in but it would be another hour of torment. When we finally were called back in, I was trying to explain to the so called doctor what was going on with our dog when he says to us that it sucks getting old and with a chuckle he exited the room. We were taken aback by his lack of caring, compassion and rudeness. When he returned with syringe in hand, without bothering to massage the area on his leg for the injection, he preceded to stab the needle into Joey's leg, which prompted Joey to instinctively lunge at him. The moron jumps back and replies, do I need to muzzle him? After that I just about lost it. Our poor Yorkie had already been through a lot and he made it worse for all of us. I wouldn't take any kind of animal to this idiot. Find yourself a real vet. read more

I was so lucky to have a ranger from Tugman State Park recommend this vet. Took my 2 jack Russell mix to Mark one for checkup and other for persistent cough. Amazing place! Service is great, which is hard to find now-a-days. It's hard to find a vet that truly cares for your pets, big, small, temperamental, or well-behaved, and this clinic really does care. They showed nothing but compassion and understanding towards our situation. They are also a witty, fun bunch of people. There's never a dull moment with the quirky vet. He didn't force us to do any unnecessary testing or spend more money than we needed. Very reasonably price as well. I am beyond impressed, Thankyou for caring for my animals! read more

We've been very pleased with Dr Mark at this clinic. He is very caring & takes the time to really understand what concerns we have & seems to really care about our dogs. Tried other vets in Coos Bay & would rather drive the extra miles to this clinic. Also very reasonably priced. The place does need some TLC but with the low fees I'm sure there's not a lot of extra $$ for sprucing up the place & the animals don't seem to mind read more

Before I write about the most unprofessional and criticism experience I've had I would like the person reading this to understand the love and how I treat my dogs/family. I Adrianna breed champion lined, quality Dobermans. I'm not like most breeders, I take my dogs out every day to the dunes or beach to have fun. I health test to make sure I produced quality pups. My dogs are working dogs, they compete in IPO, obedience, conformation, etc as well as I have a certification in training police and military k9s, so training and caring for my dogs is my life. I moved to the area about a year ago and I just recently had a litter. I scheduled a appt to have the pups tails and dewclaws docked which is the breeds standards. I walk into the office and fill out a new patients form, while I'm filling out the form the vet assistant and front desk lady kept staring at Kiara "the Mom" making her uncomfortable, when they should of talked to her or try to comfort her. While I'm still filling out paperwork, I'm told to go put her in the car since she was being defensive and barking. They should of told me to leave her if they thought it was going to be a issue. I get done filling out the from, I put it on the front desk like I always do, as I do that I get told saying "she's getting there" with a tone in her voice. I sit down and wait 20min after I showed up 10min early out of courtesy to fill the form out. As I'm waiting I hear the vet ask TWICE about what breed he was going to be working on and how many pups there were. He said he wanted to go home after hearing that, I thought he was being funny since they are cute and he didn't want to do it; he comes out from the back, looks at the pups and asks if he can give me the tools to do it. I thought he was being funny and I said I felt bad for doing the tails and dewclaws that's why I'm having a vet do it, especially since they're show quality. He just walked off and didn't even say his name. I get asked to see if I would like to watch, I said yes since I would like to see how it works. I get back there and it wasn't even sterile. I get told that when they used to do ear cropping they had the owners watch to show how cruel it was. Before he started to work on the pups he had to triple check that his knowledge on the length of the tail dock was correct. He measured the puppy's tail though got confused since their rust color was longer than most, every puppy is different. The vet continued to do his job then one of the assistants kept making it seem like it was such a big deal and kept walking out since it was to much to handle when a puppy would cry. The puppies are only 3 days old that's why we do it so young. The vet told me he can't wait until they make ear and tail docking illegal in the United States. The vet also said that the puppies umbilical cords are short. At their age they have dried out and fallen off like they're supposed too. I told the vet that we had a few under developed puppies that didn't make it and that I was a little concerned about the mom. All he said was that's not normal. He didn't even offer to examine her to make sure she didn't have any complications or to schedule another appt at least. If a mother doesn't fully exfoliate the pups and the after birth she can become septic, that can kill her and the puppies through the milk, that's why I was concerned and asking the question. After all that, The vet gets done with pups and just walks out, he didn't even say anything. If they have such a hard time with the breed or doing the procedure they shouldn't offer it. So for those looking for a vet, keep on looking. I'd hate for you to get criticized and get poor service just for your breed or your own preference. read more
