I'm speaking from what I experienced with the first project they completed for me last week. I asked for another estimate, which is for board house-to-fence sidewalk with curbs to unify the patio with both sides of the house. They are, even now, working on the second project I requested as I'm typing this review. Alex's Construction is a rare breed in this day of profit over people. He tried to explain that the out of level was to drain properly to the street which I understand, east to west, the water drains south to north not towards the street but puddles on the steel legs of my carport. The level is off 8 inches from south to north, so my carport ended up losing 8 inches of height and was charged extra to remove 8 inches from every leg on north side. The driveway edges were not troweled correctly, ended up all cracked and he came back to fix but already cracked off again, very tacky. They poured concrete on my existing concrete and let it dry, staining the concrete and looks very tacky. They cleaned their wheel barrels in the middle of my yard, along with all the sand and cigarette butts I had to clean up after them. My driveway was left a muddy mess from their power wheel barrels and again had to spend a whole day power washing it myself. Splattered concrete that won't power wash off all over my garage door and driveway along with scratches/dents from the demo and damaged the edge of my existing garage floor. The entry way to my carport pad has leaves dried into and deep marks left in it to dry. I told him I wanted it to match my existing driveway and he broomed it anyway, but did a sloppy job brooming it as well and left leaves and sticks that left surface marks. Broom lines are not straight and leaves were just broomed in as well not removed. He also demands payment at beginning and then before the job is finished... now I see why! Don't bother with this guy! Once it's dry it's too late, don't make my mistake, pay after he is done NOT before! Better yet just find a professional as he is NOT.

You know, little things like ripping out cabinets in my kitchen, repairing the wood around a window, demolishing an unneeded closet, removing old, nonfunctional gas wall heaters (I converted my house to all electric), building a small, low deck, putting down new LPV flooring, painting the exterior of the house, repairing a couple of broken switches anad outlets, hanging ceiling fans, that sort of thing. I don't know if Shane can do **all** the things I need done, but he can do most of them. And that makes me happy, because Shane is awesome. He answered the phone (which is important, getting voice mail for the initial contact means I never get a return call), we talked, I told him the 2 most critical things I needed done, and he arroved within the hour to do them! I needed an old kitchen sink removed since I had plumbers install a new sink on the opposite wall. I'm going to put my stove where the old sink was. And I needed an upper cabinet moved so I could put a new refrigerator there (mine is 43 years old and getting fragile and cranky and harder and harder to repair). He removed the old sink beautifully, did a fantastic job, cleaned up after himself. It was great. The upper cabinet presented issues. Apparently, back in the 1940s, when this house was built, those cabinets were installed as a permanent part of the house. There were no nails or screws to remove to take down the cabinet. It was well and truly built in. We discussed it, and instead of removing the entire cabinet, we decided to remove a section of the cabinet, just enough to let the new refrigerator in. That would leave me with the upper shelf just under the ceiling, and half the lower shelf. I decided to leave the doors off so it would be open shelving, and have decided the upper shelf that I need a 4-step step ladder to access will hold my flower vases and ornamental knicknacks like the tabletop centerpiece figurines. And maybe part of my gnome collection. And my kitchen Toad can be comfortable there, too. The lower shelf can easily hold my most used cookbooks. I only need a 2-step stool to reach that. Shane was wonderful - he didn't comment on the clutter of all my previous pre-injured messes, the state of the floors I intend to replace (and oh that linoleum is AWFUL) (I plan to hire him to replace the floors in my house, but that will be the last major handyman work I will have - that's OK, I have a LOT more). He charged a fair and reasonable rate and I increased that because of the trouble we had with that upper cabinet. I'm sure he was frustrated at not being able to do what I originally wanted, but I am happy with the solution we arrived at for it. And he was fast, kind, professional, skilled, and all the things you want in a person you bring into your home to do a job. I have plans for this man - lots of future work as I save up the money for each project. Next up: the 2 windows we discussed. One has rotted wood to be replaced, the other, I want to convert to a door with a small deck and ramp. I'm not sure if I'll have the money before or after the new year, and we may have to wait on the weather, but that's the next project. So stay tuned for that review!

I'll continue to update this review as we move through the process. -------------------------------------------- We hired Nelson Landscaping to improve our poolside area in Edmond, aiming for something cohesive and functional. While the crews were great, the rest of the experience left us frustrated--and stuck with a space that doesn't work. We were sold on flagstone set in decomposed granite (DCG), but in reality it's totally impractical for a pool patio. The DCG is rough on bare feet and constantly washes into the pool, staining our new concrete. Worst of all, the amount of flagstone was drastically underquoted. When I pointed this out, they came back with filler pieces, which helped visually--but it's still not functional. The area is uncomfortable and not practical for furniture or barefoot traffic, which was the entire point of the project. Communication was poor. We were rarely informed when crews would show up, and a comment from the salesman ("all you women want to see what it's going to look like") when I asked for visuals was unprofessional and frustrating. A concrete crack formed within a month, which is still unaddressed a year later as no one returned my multiple calls. I even reached out to the owner whose email address is listed on the website and still only heard back from our salesman. The crews did great work--but the planning, oversight, and professionalism were severely lacking. If you're hiring Nelson Landscaping for pool area landscaping, flagstone patios, or outdoor design in Edmond, ask a lot of questions and don't rely on them to act like the experts. We learned the hard way.

But JP Homes has been the ONLY one that refused to stand by their work. I'd not even been in my home 4 years and already replaced 3 major appliances because this builder buys cheap, in bulk and then stores them offsite for years before installing them; thus voiding the manufacturer warranty. The paint was never primed and is peeling in every room, not to mention the pathetic job with no crisp edge lines ANYWHERE. The master bath faucet crumbled in my hands the first time I turned the water on. Galvanized pipe was used to install the water heater and blew out after 4 years creating a flood in my garage. They refuse to answer their phone (once they flag your number) or return voicemails and even ignore social media  messages (which as you know you are alerted that they have read them). Unprofessional and plain heartless as I have been disabled and unable to work the past year due to a traumatic leg injury. I paid 300K cash for this house and was treated this way. AVOID!
