It's a new store so be reasonable, give the staff a few weeks to get accustomed. Also, they appear to be training staff for the second nearby store opening soon. Great produce, smokehouse, sausages made in front of you, fancy, high quality bakery and breads as well as sandwiches and prepared chicken. Regular grocery prices are mostly good, but like all places, a few things higher, a few things lower than competitors. DEFINITELY less expensive than the nearby VERY OVERPRICED Publix. The last three times I've shopped at this Lowe's Food people have had their pets in the store, not service dogs. Pretty disgusting. Today, I said something and their response was "they aren't supposed to" and that's as far as it went. The new Lowe's food grocery store on whiskey Road in Aiken, South Carolina. Is smaller than the other Lowe's food stores I have visited. The layout is confusing which is not all that bad. However, the deli department is rude understaffed condescending. In comparison to deli departments and other grocery store companies we're in Publix. You can go in and order a subway style sandwich on a selection of bread of your choice the same at Kroger however, at Lowe's food you are not able to get but one type of bread, which is tough and chewy as an older person without dentures. I find it almost impossible to eat a sandwich from there because of the bread I was told there is no choice of bread. I tried to order a ham and cheese, lettuce and tomato with Italian dressing and was told it would only come on the one type of bread no options I went to the store manager to ask about an option and was told there is no option. If I didn't like it I could go to Subway. This is not customer service your competitors offer choices, Lowe's food forces you into one style of bread no option. read more

This was to point out the loss of revenues from me leaving your store. Its small but an effective way to show you a real loss. Your response was to contact you. But today the cart collector literally ran into my husband and pinned him to a display as we were trying to get into the store, and then says to us "Customers that keep trying to come in, I got no patience!" Went here for something sweet. I ended up getting the strawberry smoothie with whipped cream. It was fixed quickly. I have to say the medium was pretty big for me but my friend thought it was a little small. Just keep the sizes in mind but overall it was incredible :) read more

1-22-21 FINAL UPDATE It seems my hopes gave too much credit. The "solution" was a gift card was going to be issued - I was told I should get it in a few days. That was over a month ago. Was it sent but lost in the mail? I have no clue but I use informed delivery and the only thing shown was ads. I was given a phone number to call in case of further issues but I won't be calling it. At Lowes the product selection is sufficient and sometimes there's great deals. Unfortunately unreliable/inconsistent service has become more frequent as of late...Sammy's (sub sandwich ordering place) has been left unstaffed- and subsequently closed- during its listed hours more than once recently; yesterday it was because no one had replaced someone on the schedule following a schedule change when someone called out of work. Complained before about the baggers and yet again a very poor experience. I love that you can get a pint of beer and shop, but between higher than Publix pricing and rude baggers, we are not fans any more. Ex. Becky in the Bakery is such a sweetheart and knows her stuff! I initially ordered a cake for my sons 2nd bday- from another place and and wasn't happy with the price. I ended up ordering a bigger size cake here and cookies for half of the price. I wasn't really expecting much but when I saw the cake, I was blown away! It was a Paw patrol cake and Becky Nailed the decoration- it also was delicious and a hit at the party! read more

I've shopped at Lowe's twice since mid-January, 2023 and both experiences were very bad. Visit #1: I went to have a "samwich" made for my wife. I was the only customer at the counter. I literally waited about 10 minutes and no one showed up. So I called customer service from my cellphone and let them know. After customer service paged someone to come to the counter, I waited another 5 minutes. No one showed up. I caught one of the supervisors coming out of the back and told him of my continued waiting. I told him I had been waiting for at least 10 minutes and he told me that wasn't possible because he had been in the area, and I wasn't there for the last 10 minutes!! WTF? What a jackass. I finally caught the eye of one of the deli girls. She came over and said she had never worked at the samwich counter. So I told her to hand me one of the premade ones in the window since she hadn't been trained. She was nice and helpful. No one ever came to the counter that actually had experience. Unbelievable. Visit #2: I went to the deli to get some broccoli salad. It looked like it had no dressing. The deli girl (different girl than 1st visit) assured me that it did. I asked her to stir it up as the dressing may be in the bottom. But she ignored the request and kept spooning the salad into the pint size container that I ordered. Well, sure enough when I got home there was zero dressing. I wound up having to whip some up at home to make it a true broccoli salad. From the management down, this store is ill-run, with rude supervision. I can't imagine them being open for long assuming they keep this crap up! Also, there were no staffing problems at the Beer Den! They were more than happy making their $ over there pouring pints!! Do yourself a favor and go to the Publix a mile down the road. read more

A fun place to shop, but not quite the atmosphere of Publix. They have a lot of variety and some fun specialties, like their sausage shop and their massive salad bar. I haven't tried their sausage or any of their meats from their smoke pit yet, but I plan on it. They are a bit pricey, running a little higher then Publix in the prices I scoped out. read more

09/01 update on review: about a week ago the district manager reached out to us and we spoke about all the issues that we were concerned about. With his encouragement and respectful attitude of listening to our issues we had, we ventured back out this past week to give this location another try. We spoke for a while to Rachel, customer relations. She was very pleasant and seemed genuinely concerned. We went to the bakery and ordered cake squares and asked for specific slices that were not hard to reach, considering the cake was pre-sliced and several pieces were already missing. The associate on duty got annoyed with my husband requesting specific slices that were next to one another when an adjoining slice fell over. She glared and told him, "this is why we don't let people pick specific slices, we just get them." We let Rachel know about this and she assured us that all staff members would be reminded about customer service and unnecessary comments to customers. Our experience at the deli was improved drastically. Overall it was a better experience than the first time. I understand that all places of business have kinks to work out however neither my husband nor I have ever had so many issues at a grocery store before. These type of things are what you would typically find at a fast food restaurant with underpaid and inexperienced workers. I do think for now we will most likely stick to shopping in the northeast side of town and eagerly await when the new location opens in May 2018. 07/29 Update on review: shortly after my original review, I received a message on Yelp from Lowe's basically inquiring if I could go into further detail and if someone could reach out to us regarding our experience. Naturally, as someone who has had many years of secret shopping experience and reviewing for hundreds of different companies and brands, I was more than willing to take them up on this chance to discuss in further detail. After several back-and-forth messages and me leaving the phone number to be reached at as well as an email address, we have never received a single phone call or email from anyone. The only response we ever get is directly through Yelp messages. Honestly, I find this to be an added reflection of their customer service for not only this location but other locations. I was truly excited about having a new place to shop in town but to be quite honest, I would rather continue shopping at other places. ----- original review ----- Drove about 45 minutes out of our way to try out this new grocery store. We live up in the north east side of Columbia. Lots of the store was really nice with unique items and several options for competitive prices. The layout is fun with the different "neighborhood" to shop from. I will say that several of the employees do not seem very knowledgeable in their areas. The lady that was working in produce was very helpful and sweet. The two ladies working in the sandwich shop seemed very scatterbrained and not very well educated in their own department. One lady who made the sandwich really did not know what she was doing. I'm not sure how anyone can mess up making a sub sandwich but she got first place on that one. I totally understand having a new store open and having to work out the kinks but part of having businesses run smoothly is by hiring skilled and competent people, not just people to fill in the slots. I do hope that there will be a location to open in the Northeast sometime in the future and if there is, I hope that they hire people that have had previous experience in their departments. read more

The salad bar always looks delicious with excellent selections to choose from in both toppings and dressing's. They are bread shop smells heavenly and divine and it's delicious so whatever you're making Weatherby a sandwich a dinner roll or garlic bread. They have excellent selection of fresh produce and the employees are beyond friendly and helpful. During the start of COVID-19, when no one had anything on their shelves this store was stocked! To me that shows excellent leadership and management. Their reward system gives you money off their gas pumps it is a win-win for everyone. I would recommend this grocery store to anyone. I love the store, but something need to change with the deli. I can never go and be acknowledged within 10 minutes. In 2 years and going to the deli at least once a week, it is always like this. Publix deli is happy to help with a minute of seeing you, food lion is great also. Every other department in the whole store has better customer service (the bakery has screwed up every cake I've ever ordered, but at least they make it right in a timely manner). Just please put some good workers there that won't ignore customers, or at least get better training. There has been a handful of times that I do get good service, when we see the big wigs there! I love this store so very much . Everyone is so nice and helpful. It's so nice and clean. I love the wine collection. Cheese selection is superb. The meats are quality. there's not anybody in the store that won't help you with anything. There's no attitudes. Bakery the bakery is superb. There's no other grocery store in town that has a bakery that taste that good. They also have a bread center and a bar. I'm a chef and I feel at home in this place. It is so fun for me to go shopping there. Their flowers are beautiful they have fresh herbs that you can pick right off the Irvine. Are produce looks amazing and it's from press Farmers around here. Unfortunately, Lowe's Foods was much less than I had hoped for. Their marketing strategy was awesome, but they fail to deliver in the customer service department. The employees at each specialty station were not knowledgeable or helpful. Most gave a shrug when questioned about particular items. The chicken place was out of chicken?? The sandwich shop was out of a particular sandwich?? These are all things that do happen, but shouldn't have. Even so, as they did happen, they should have been handled much better than a gruff denial of service and a blank stare. The prices are about the same, if not a bit higher than Publix, without the customer service. There were a few things you don't see anywhere else, but prices I wouldn't have paid anyway. One last thing... if all if the above was forgivable, I had a situation in which I was communicating openly with the store and when they made promises they didn't keep, they simply stopped communicating when questioned about it. Great grocery store! Anytime time you can get a pint of draft beer from a vast selection while you shop is a-ok with me. Yes they are more pricy than some, but the selections are unique and always fresh. Really like the different sections that you can get/sample before you purchase. Great example is their butcher shop. Want to try one of their sausages before buying, no problem. I see that they are about to open another one down Sunset Blvd too. Lastly, the perks for gas are much better than Kroger / BP to name a couple. Many times we are getting $0.25 off per gallon. We will return often...see you at the Beer Den! read more

I have shopped at the Lowes Foods across from Lexington HS several times. The most recent visit was last weekend because my husband wanted to try their ribs. The gentleman who sold us the ribs was very friendly and helpful. He definitely was a pro with customer service. The store was not busy at the time that we shopped. Checkout was smooth. The associate who checkouts out even ran out to our car to bring us the bag of groceries that we left behind. I will revisit the store if I need something specific to that store, such as the ribs. Otherwise, I prefer the selection at Publix. read more
