I stopped by here for a quick bite to eat it was lunch time on a Friday. Not busy at that time. I sat at the bar for a beer and some fish and chips. The Guinness was poured in a rootbeer mug. She was attentive without being overbearing, made sure our drinks stayed full, and checked in at just the right times. What really stood out was her knowledge of the menu--she gave great recommendations and made everything sound so good we had a hard time choosing! Met up with some of the family in town, and this was a great location to meet at. There was a great table option for us, and we had a big party. We also needed something that was handicap accessible, so that was also super important. Our waiter was great with the number of people we had and the drinks and food orders that were coming. He gave great ideas and options for dinner, and we were able to watch the soccer game that was on. It's not anything fancy, but it was clean and nice and welcoming. read more

We gave Carolina Ale House another chance today. The last two times, we have been mostly disappointed. Our party of six did enjoy our food. Drinks were a different story. The bartender must be inexperienced. The margaritas tasted like sugar water and they did not know how to mix beers. The wine tasted cheap and wasn't cold. Our server tried. Her issues were being forgetful (write stuff down) and we had to keep asking for what we had already asked for. We might have stayed longer but she brought our bills and never asked if we wanted dessert or additional drinks (we only had one). I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by my visit to Carolina Ale House. To be honest, I was kind of expecting a knockoff version of a chain restaurant like Applebee's, Chili's, or maybe even Buffalo Wild Wings; however, to my surprise and delight, Carolina Ale House was a great experience. When I walked in, I was pleased to see Gamecock memorabilia (Go Cocks) plastering the entrance, as well as some other localized signs and vintage pictures. (Unfortunately, they did have some Clemson gear, much to my chagrin. Lol.) The bar area was cool, and I loved how they had silly little quotes etched into the bar table. They had a great selection of IPAs, as well as some nice happy hour specials. I went to the outside patio for my 2nd drink, which was awesome in the fall time. Both of the bartenders I interacted with were sweethearts, and really knew their brews! All-in-all, Carolina Ale House was a surprisingly good experience, and I'll assuredly be back in the future. read more

Went there for dinner tonight, Elliot was amazing! Fun and very attentive. Great ambiance.

Dislike being the bearer of bad reviews but I must give this one. We were sat in the patio area which was ok. Our waiter Joshua was very kind and patient. However, all our food had to be returned with exception of the salad, because it was extremely cold. We had to change our drinks 3 times because they all tasted like carbonated water. When our remake food returned, it was completely opposite of what we ordered. This wasn't a pleasant experience, but we made the best of it. Not sure where the breakdown occurred, but I'm sure the kitchen was extremely understaffed and probably very overwhelmed.. read more

Bragging about our server SAM P.! We don't get to visit this restaurant often, so we were a little hesitant walking in especially after noticing some changes to the menu (we'll definitely miss the sweet chili sauce!). But Sam P. completely turned the experience around for us. From the moment we sat down, Sam was attentive, kind, and genuinely welcoming. He anticipated our needs, made great recommendations, and kept such a positive, easygoing energy the entire time. Even with the menu changes, he made sure we still had a great dining experience and never made us feel rushed or overlooked. They said they would write down our name but we were rejected and insisted for us to "wait 15 minutes" and come back up. Upon entering the fine eating establishment that is Carolina Ale House I was greeted by the sweet smell of good food. The atmosphere was top notch and exceeded my expectations. The food left me feeling full and satisfied, however, this experience was topped off by the finest of waitresses, she goes by the name of Kyrstin. She made sure we were well taken care of but was not the pestering type of waitress everyone hates. We always had full drinks and felt like family at this establishment thanks to Kyrstin. When we were trying to order our food, our server knew nothing about gluten-free options. He had to keep going in the kitchen to ask if it was gluten-free. My husband is gluten-free. So he ordered the salmon with broccoli and salad no croutons a gluten-free meal. The salad came out with croutons and the salmon came out with fries. The fries have gluten the size of the salmon is embarrassingly small I've never seen a piece of salmon in a restaurant so small. It was a bit ridiculous he had to send his plate back because it had fries. My meal vegetarian burger and fries came out cold to top it off. I ordered a happy hour well drink vodka and cranberry. Never in my life, have I seen a charge for cranberry. It is a well drink where you pick two things although it was only $.50. I think that's ridiculous to charge was I supposed to drink the vodka straight with nothing? I'm disappointed my one night spending in the town. We are traveling to the beach from Kentucky, and booked overnight stay next door to the Ale House. I read the reviews, so I wasn't sure; but we gave it a try. The Hilton property was walking distance (which is a plus in our book). It had a neat sports bar vibe and they were showing different sporting events on the televisions and replaying Opening Ceremonies to the 2024 Paris Olympics that had happened while we were driving. So landed at the bar to watch. After ordering drinks (they have a huge selection of beer on tap!), I asked bartender what he liked off the lighter sandwich or burger menu or appetizers. He was very helpful. I ordered the patty melt. It was pretty yummy. The caramelized onions and the special sauce really made it. The only awkward thing: round burger on a square toasted sourdough bread.... I just pulled off the corners. The flavor combo was perfect. To order again, I would ask for a little container of the special sauce to dip burger in.... My hubby ordered the grilled wings. They were perfect (we share food). The sauces we tried were Gen Tso, Ranch, Honey BBQ. We will definitely make this our beach stopping point again. read more
