Despite having a completely full bar, and waiting tables, she acknowledged me almost immediately. Even sat down in the bar stool next to me to take my order and chit chat and go over the menu with me. I think her name was Alicia, but regardless she was outstanding! I ordered hot wings and lemon pepper wings. They came out really fast, really hot, and really good. I kind of wish I had room to order another entree, but it filled me up. As I waited for my food, I was suddenly engulfed by an entire group of locals. Now this place, is the mature crowd, and they were so nice they sort of took me under their wing! This is the epitome of down south hospitality. I've been holding out on coming to this place for a few years now, and looking back, I wish I would have came a lot sooner. I hate using the term "vibe", But this is totally my vibe. Great food, great service, great locals, laid back atmosphere with music playing and karaoke? You just can't beat it. I have responsibilities, so I had to leave really early, but rest assured, I will definitely be back. I mean who else is going to sing Jason Aldean on the karaoke machine? And then I added some Mahi Mahi for $3.49 and made it the KING of COBBS! Regardless if you order it standard or outrageous, this is a must have salad and could be a meal all by itself. $6.99 - Big Dipper Chili Cheese Fries - 5 Stars These fries are incredibly hard to eat without getting messy. If you are on a date, avoid this appetizer because one way or another that cheese is going to get on you, your clothes or your date. But this is also the best chili cheese fries I ever tasted and it's a big bowl of fries too! After we were seated and ordered our appetizer, we were then informed that the Spinach & Artichoke Dip couldn't be made because the pizza oven was down. That directly contradicted what we had just been told. If other menu items were unavailable, we should have been informed before ordering. My wife ordered an Irish Mule, and it was poorly made. We've ordered drinks here before without any issues, so this was surprising and disappointing. I ordered the French Dip, and it was one of the worst I've ever been served. The sandwich arrived already completely soaked through with au jus, making the bread soggy and falling apart before I even picked it up. The au jus itself was unusually thick and slimy instead of being a light dipping sauce. The presentation looked rushed and careless, as if no attention had been paid to plating. The service only got worse from there. After our food was delivered, no one came back to check on us, ask how everything was, or offer refills. We eventually had to flag someone down just to get our check. I also think the wait staff could benefit from better training in professionalism and guest interaction. The overall service felt awkward and inattentive. What makes this experience even more disappointing is that my wife and I have always enjoyed coming here. We brought my sister because we genuinely believed she'd have a great experience based on our previous visits. Instead, it was honestly embarrassing. Being from New York City and Boston, we've eaten at plenty of restaurants, and this visit simply didn't meet even basic expectations. We spent $93.47, and unfortunately, it felt like money wasted. This wasn't just a mediocre meal--it was an experience that made me feel embarrassed for recommending the restaurant in the first place. I sincerely hope this was just an off day because Old Chicago has been a great establishment in the past.
