I have been super impressed with the customer service here at Lowe's. I've been doing some home repairs lately and the people in the plumbing and flooring department have been beyond helpful. I've watched them with other customers as well and it is not just me - they are going above and beyond to help customers which is being seen and appreciated. The aisles are clean and easy to maneuver the carts around and of course there is lots of free parking. And, they will help you load your items into your vehicle- you just have to figure out unloading at home by yourself! Lol read more

The reason for 5 stars for a home renno store such as this is 100% because of customer service! Most stores like this, you'll wander around for what seems like forever trying to find someone who works there just to ask a simple question. Every time i am on this store, asking an associate or finding an associate never seemed to be an issue... which I appreciate as I want to be out and in and not wasting time. The store is also uber clean as well, which I also appreciate when shopping in a store like this, lol just don't expect! It's also a bit out of the way so it isn't stupid busy like some... so getting out and in, in a hurry isn't an issue as well as the prices are reasonable. I went here today to look for an UMBRA TOTO BOX according to their website they had 6. I went to Customer Service to ask where I would find them but they had no clue. They paged an associate named Deborah, and together we spent 40 min trying to find them. Turn out they were on the very top of a shelf. She brought the 2 boxes down and there were 6 in total. She thought her daughter would like one so I gave her one and bought the other 5. Couldn't pass them up @ $7.50 each when regular price is $30+. The service is awful. Had to go back twice to get our lawn mower that we pre-paid for. Both times the manager just looked at me and walked away. The final straw was when I went to use my gift card and there was a Screw up on it and wasn't working. Once again the managers response was to not do anything and walk away. Well I can walk away as well and will walk to another store. Save your money and go to Rona. read more

Large selections - great. Lack of service and staff - not so great. If you are a handy person and know what you need in a store like this, it's probably a good place to shop at. We tend to have questions whenever we take on a small project. As a result, we've found it a bit challenging to complete our purchases at times - making multiple trips has made some of these projects less fun. read more

The worst experience EVER! I purchased kitchen cabinets for a client that were supposed to be delivered on a Monday morning and Sunday night they called to tell me that they could not be delivered until the following Friday. I live an hour and a half from the store so picking them up wasn't a simple option. They refused to pay another delivery company and said there was nothing else they could do. VERY, VERY inconvenient and a very expensive screw up !!!! I will never deal with Lowes again! ZERO STARS! !! read more

When I purchased the appliances on MARCH 22ND, I had asked for them to be delivered on April 19th...as we had to wait for a "special order", microwave was not in stock and so, it would take a while for it to arrive in Edmonton. Well to make a long story short, the appliances got delivered on Friday, April 15th when I was not home and/or expecting them. The contractors at the house accepted the appliances, because they were told it could take 2 weeks for them to come back. Obviously, I was NOT happy and spoke with the Lowe's Delivery Manager (Richard) on Friday and I was very clear with him that I would like them to come back to my house on April 19th and put the appliances where I wanted them which was not in my front room/dining area. Well, I get a telephone call this morning (April 19th) from Richard asking what day did I want the appliances. SERIOUSLY??? Richard said they would not be able to deliver the items to me today and I basically said not my problem! I was very clear last Friday that I wanted them to return today to move the appliances. And so...we'll see what happens today! UPDATE #2 Well...to make a long story shorter, the Delivery Manager (Richard) and another person from Lowe's arrived to move the appliances in the early afternoon. Considering they were clearly NOT delivery personnel, they did alright; e.g. did not have the experience, there were a couple tense moments moving the appliances, and a few more dents/scraps on the old fridge! It was not pretty, but it got done...yahoo! I am hoping my old appliances will still work for my friend though (lol). read more

I am so happy we have Lowe's in Edmonton! This is by far my favourite home improvement store. It's very accessible. Even though it's in South Common, it's in that back section that is easy to get into and out of without actually driving through South Common. Easy access from Calgary Trail, and from Parsons road. The garden centre here is also fantastic. Much better than you expect from a box store. I buy my flowers from local greenhouses, and the selection here is just as good and unique. I've purchased house plants from here and they have done quite well, even with my lack of green thumb. The guys in the lumber section are always super helpful, answering my questions that probably come across as very dumb lol. I've also noticed they get really great deals on patio furniture here if you check in store. read more

I bought a storm door about 2 weeks ago and wanted to get it installed. First off there was no one in the door department that knew how to write up the install paperwork so I had to wait 1/2 hour until they could find someone who knew how. Second, i get a call from the store (Namao) saying to come in and do the paperwork and pay for the door and install. I went to the store the next day and went to customer service which is where I was told to go to. They had no record of my paperwork and to come back later. I make a second trip to the store and finally find someone who claims to know what to do. They don't!!! We finally get all the paperwork organized and go to custmer service to pay for the door and install. The cashier in customer service claimed she could not charge for the install without the proper code to enter into the system. FINALLY after an hour of watching the staff at Lowes "chasing their tails" we get it organized and paid for. I'm then told I either had to take the door with me or pay to get it delivered to my home. I noticed the next day that I'd been overcharged for the install and made ANOTHER trip back to the store and talked to the manager about this nightmare and to pick up the door. He said "I'm sorry". The next day I get a call from the installer and am told that THEY pick up the door from the store and bring it with them when they do the install!!! I'VE NEVER SEEN SUCH AN INEPT BUNCH OF PEOPLE UNDER THE SAME ROOF AT THE SAME TIME!!! BEWARE!!! Gerry read more

On one occasion after receiving a confirmation that my web order was ready to pick up, I went to the store with my notification to pick my order up, it took them 45 minutes to find my small order. On another occasion after receiving a phone call indicating that I could pick up my order, I went to the store to pick the order up, the customer service person, was looking for it and never returned, 25 minutes later I had another customer service agent tell me that the other guy was not able to find the item and asked if I could come back in the next day. Just left here. Went to purchase flooring for our entire house- over 3000 Sq ft. The aisle we needed to go down was closed off so we just kinda stood there discussing which of the other lowe's locations to go to when the douchebag working in the department looks at us and says "guys move out of there" in the most degrading tone of voice without a please or thank you, no "can I help you", nothing. We weren't even in the aisle just standing next to the roped off section. Needless to say we will be purchasing from rona. Worst customer service ever. I believe this is the second try at a Lowe's home improvement aka big big box American hardware store here in Edmonton. The first came and went a number of years ago. This one situated south of Ikea in south Edmonton looks like it has enough business to keep it around for awhile. I know, another big American company taking customers away from Canadian stores.....but...... it does have a number of things we just can't find at the same price. Lighting is not one of the items where prices or style will differ but I just found their sliding door selection was great and the prices equally pleasant. I think it warrants a shop stop to check out variety. It is way south Edmonton so a drive unless you use the Anthony Henday. read more

Unless you like lighting your money on fire, avoid Lowe's especially this one like the plague. Once they have your money, the idea of customer service to them is non-existent. Have made multiple large purchases at this store and have had nothing but problems with the products, and nothing but headaches, runarounds and excuses from the staff and management when you attempt to get a resolution. Tonight, I came home to a floor full of water and a freezer full of spoiled food to throw out. I knew as soon as I saw it I would get no help from the store and that is exactly what I got. Put in a complaint to head office but I'm sure that will no doubt be an exercise in futility. Take your money elsewhere. read more

This is actually about a Frigidaire fridge we bought at this Lowe's. The fridge is less than a year old and the assembly that holds the meat/ cheese drawer broke. As per instructions, we contacted the manufacturer where we learned that this is a "cosmetic" item - along with a long list of other "cosmetic" items - like shelves! - and is not covered by any warranty. We have to pay for a new shelf assembly and pick it up and install it ourselves. Won't get caught again. read more

Be careful when purchasing any gas operated item from Lowes. Once you put fuel in it you cannot return it even if it does not work and was never used. There is no such thing as a warranty as they refer you to Lawn Doctor who charges a fee prior to even looking at the item. read more

Had to get an adaptor piece for my BBQ and had no idea what I was looking for. They have a "help button" in each section and that will page an associate over to you. The associate came over and was very helpful, showed me what I needed and how to instal it and told me to come back if I had any questions. read more

I don't think I will ever go into another Lowe's in Edmonton. I have never seen worse customer service in at least 10 years. The children they have working there have not been trained and have no clue as to the products that they carry. I wanted 8 more 4'X8' sheets of 1/8" Luann oak plywood which last October told me was a regular stock item. You guessed it they no longer stock it, hell they did not even know what it is. Customer service was just plain terrible. I was very polite to her but I sensed that she did not want to help me and I was right. While attempting to search for the Luann on her computer another customer came up and asked her a question and she just walked away to help that person leaving me standing there. I then called another Lowe's in Edmonton and after being transferred to 4 different people and on hold for over 20 minutes total the last person told me I would have to call back to customer service. NO ONE HAD A CLUE. It was evident that proper training is not provided to the employees that are probably paid minimum wage for part time work. I could tell the way I was treated that this was just another large American corporation who thinks that Canada is just another 3rd world county. I urge you to go to a Canadian hardware store like Home Hardware. (RONA is owned by Lowe's so don't believe the sign on the front of their stores that say 100% Canadian. read more

This place absolutely Blowe's. I had to go here twice unfortunately as they are the only place to carry the stain I want. First time I waited for help for 10 mins while I watched 2 girls braiding each others hair at customer service. Second time a new kid spent fifteen minutes feebly trying to help me where he clearly didn't know the product and wouldn't ask for help. After fifteen minutes I asked the older staff lady and she fairly abruptly told me they didn't or wouldn't do an order of a not in stock color. Even though they are the only supplier. Had to get product shipped from Red Deer from Dulux paints who were very helpful, even on discontinued stock. Will never be back. read more

Absolutely terrible customer service. I will not be shopping here ever again once I pick up my order. I called ahead to ensure someone else could pick up my order for me, who lives in the area, and I was told yes. Then I find out that no, only I can pick it up unless I put her name as the ship to. But they will not put her name on it for me, and they had absolutely ZERO idea as to set it to her name while still using my credit card. Completely untrained, and very rude and short with me on the phone. I do not recommend them at all. read more

Went to the NorthWest Edmonton store yesterday. They are videoing transactions without any signage I could see saying they were doing this. Spoke to the manager on duty and he refused to remove the video content with my image and basically told me there was a sign on the front door. I looked and there was only a sign with store hours on an 8.5 X 11 sheet of paper and taped to the door. The wind had about destroyed the sign. Contacted the Office of the Privacy Commissioner today. Contacted Lowes by phone for name and number of their privacy person. They will get back to me. Will not shop there again! read more

Not worth the effort nor time. Service for renovations is pretty much non-existent - still awaiting a call for measurements after one week. Sure it is not their staff doing it and they are at the whim of the contractors, so get better contractors. read more

I had a TERRIBLE experience with their online ordering system. I dealt with countless stores for online orders in Canada and USA over past 10+ yrs so I'm fairly familiar with how the process should work. I placed an order last night for pickup in store today, received a call from the store last night that the order is prepared and ready for pickup. I showed up to the store this afternoon, no one could find the order in the first place. Once they "found" the order, it wasn't ready for pickup. They advised me to wait 10 minutes and they'd have it ready; after half hour the person who was to get it ready told me that he didn't even start getting it ready. I asked to have it cancelled - but the customer service rep had no idea how to cancel online order - another 2-3 phone calls by her to find out how to cancel it. What a waste of time - 40minute driving time to/fro store, instore ~ 40 minutes. Next time I'll stick to the Home Depot on 17th street - never had any issues there. read more
