Associates act as if they're scared of customers. They avoid you rather than asking if you need help. I'd much rather shop at Home Depot.

Very disappointed with Lowe's Hanford and their commitment to their mission and vision. So I'm looking for curtain rods, 1in. Stopped by this design by allen and roth since it was $20, to find out they didn't place the correct price tag correctly. This Jesse guy hurriedly removed the tag so the manager won't see it and defensively said it is not false advertisement. Then what the heck do you call it then? It's not like customers purposely switch them because it is on the top shelf, your QAs have green sticky on it, and you guys wouldn't honor the price of whatever sticker you put in there. He even stated in a perfect world they would honor it. Well, let me tell you to straighten up your products which are misleading and how about retraining people on how to do their job? Placed an online order for in store pickup, only to be told in store that my item could not be picked up because the store didn't carry that item when online it clearly said that there was one in stock. Never received a phone call telling me my order was cancelled . Two stars because at least the customer service man apologized about the stores lack of communication. I will be monitoring my bank account closely to make sure I'm not charged for this non existent product. read more

I was at the Lowe's in Hanford helping a friend find the materials that we needed to complete a long overdue project on his house. We were not having a lot of luck, when an associate by the name of Janet from paint and home decor approached us and asked if she could be of assistance. She was so knowledgeable and understanding. She went out of her way to assist us even outside of her department and took the time to explain different alternatives that we could follow to accomplish our tasks. Because of Janet, we acquired everything that we needed at Lowe's and were quite satisfied. We will most definitely be back at Lowe's for our future project needs and if anyone comes to this Lowe's, ask for Janet. Very disappointed in Lowes, Hanford, Ca. I Will limit my shopping there. 'Good News" is Lowes seems to have to more employees then Home Depot. 'Not so good news' is that half of them are of little help. Some seem to just walk around like Zombies. Others seem to be on some kind of a 'Walkathon'. If asked a question seeking assistance, they may stop for a very brief period only to give a quick vague answer, usually referring you to "ask some one else in that department." Then they resume their never ending 'walkathon'. Going to customer service was another indication of poor employee training. Usually 'manned' by females with attitudes, I felt most uncomfortable and will never seek CS again. One actually made an effort to face away. Maybe because she didn't like my face or my political T Shirt Logo? Nonetheless, they should be trained to be respectful and courteous to ALL customers. The young female who is CSA at lumber checkout, also hardly smiled, almost no eye contact at all, whose attitude was also borderline rude. Even if I am an old and ugly guy with a controversal T Shirt, I am a customer. I pay your salary via purchases. I spent $1500 this one visit alone. I'm going to do a 2 for 1 review: Home Depot and Lowes. Each gets 4 stars, but for different reasons. Read on... For the while, Hanford only had Home Depot, and that's where I shopped until Lowes came along. My husband and I needed some home improvement supply, and he wanted to go to Lowes. I asked him why (never having been in a Lowes). He answers, "Customer service. You'll see what I mean." and boy did I ever. Lowes customer service is leaps and bounds better than Home Depots (at least here in Hanford). Associates will come up and ask if you need help finding anything. At HD, you have to search for someone, and half the time they are in a different department and have to call someone, who may or may not know what you are looking for. The customer service at Lowes is so good that we will always choose to go there first over HD. It's really just that simple. The people at Lowes seem to connect with you, they ask about your project, they talk about projects they have done in the same wheelhouse and actually share tips and give helpful suggestions. The folks at HD just seem to want to get rid of you so they can get back to some sandwich they have waiting in the breakroom. I'm not saying that's what is really happening, but it sure seems like it sometimes. Why are HD employees never in their departments??? Why must you always have to find someone to "call" them to come assist??? Now, I know I'm coming down hard on Home Depot, but now it's Lowes turn in the hot seat. The one thing that redeems HD is a free service that both stores offer. Two words: Kids Workshop. HD is doing this right and Lowes needs to pay attention, because after my kid builds their toy, I buzz around the store grabbing supplies that I was too lazy to go get during the week. There are some SIGNIFICANT differences in these 2 programs. Let's start... first you go online and register your child for the upcoming workshop. If you are registering for Home Depot's, it's a fairly painless process, hit a couple of buttons, hit the finish button and receive a nice email reminder. If you are trying to register for the Lowes workshop, well... good luck with that. I have literally only been able to register my child for 1 in the last year. After a few months of the workshops always being full, I gave up on the whole thing with them. If you don't know the exact date they post the workshop online, it will be full. And that is NOT OK. I get that it's a free workshop and all, but it irritates me enough that I've devoted an entire half of my review to this issue. Am I resentful? Yes. If HD gets their customer service issue resolved will this kid workshop thing become my deciding factor on where to start shopping... absolutely. Stop being stingy with the little wood workshop kits, Lowes... make room for everyone. If you manage to get your kids one of the coveted seats at the Lowes workshop, you then get to fill out this permission slip and print it out, so make sure you have ink in the ole jet printer. For whatever reason, this just bugs me. After finally getting my kid a seat on this thing, I was terrified I was going to forget this very formal looking permission slip and get him booted from the workshop or something. It's a freaking kids workshop, Lowes, I get that the lawyers told you all the issues that could arise, but it doesn't have to be like this. One of you big wigs grab your kid and sneak over to Home Depot's kids workshop and take some secret surveillance video or something. Seriously... you guys have got to dial this in. Ok.... so that was my experience with that... now let me tell you what is happening over at HD where times are simpler. We show up, there is an area outside (or inside during the winter) roped off and there is PLENTY of room for everyone. You sign in (where you give your kids name -you only have to fill out the address and other stuff on your first visit, after that it's kid's name and sign and go-), they hand you your kit and pin (and apron if it's your first visit) and you find a work station. Then you build, employees will roam around and offer to help if you look completely lost (don't ask how I know that LOL). There are times that they will be grilling hot dogs and have water and balloons and games set up. One time Homer, their mascot, was visiting. We always have a good time... and because of that, HD has earned a place in my heart. Thanks for providing this service, making it available to so many kids, making it free... the memories I'm making with my son doing this together are priceless. It's not a huge time sink either (I love that it's only once a month and that it doesn't take up the entire day). Home Depot... you really are doing this right, don't stop, and thank you. So, that's the long and short of it. Both store sell the same stuff at about the same price. What HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I ordered two grills from them. I paid up front thinking this Lowe's was trustworthy. Finding out two months later they did not even put in the order. So technically they STOLE our money. I got ahold of the manager STEVE but the guy just gaslights you into thinking he going over and beyond for you. He told me he should have my grills that I purchased ready that up coming Friday. Guess what?! No phone call or email. I eventually lost confidence in Steve, so I called that Friday. The man couldn't stop saying "um" to all my questions. Steve then finished our conversation with " I will figure out the status of your grills. I will give you a call back in 20mins." Guess who didn't called back? Steve! I had to go to their store manager Jenny. Talk about someone with great customer service service. I truly feel bad that she has to look over someone like Steve. I don't think I have ever had a worse customer service experience. My partner went in looking for a fairly standard piece of lumber (which the website said was in stock) and was told that not only did they not have the product but that it was an unusual cut and that they don't usually carry it. It was a 2x2x12. This is while the website said that there were over 100 in stock. I called the customer service number at the store and spoke to the customer service rep who told me that the easiest way to get the product was to place an online order and that that would get the ball rolling, as the order fulfiller was right there with her, and that I should tell my partner to wait by the lumber and someone would be with her momentarily. Approximately 10-15 minutes later ( while my partner was waiting by the lumber) I received a call from the store informing me that they didn't have the product in stock, and that the person I spoke to on the phone had miscounted. I was unclear as to what would have been miscounted, since there were supposedly 144 in the store and I only wanted 3. I asked to speak to a manger, and was put on hold. After 15 minutes of being on hold, the phone was picked up and I was asked what I was on hold for. I was finally able to speak to the manager several minutes later. To be fair, the manager was apologetic and did their best to explain the situation, although they had clearly been misinformed as to some of the details. Eventually, after almost an hour and a half at the store, my partner was able to purchase the items. I say purchase because, even though I had paid for the order online and had received two confirmation emails telling me as much, the cashier informed my partner that nothing had been paid for or ordered. Wanting to end the ordeal, my partner paid and left. In the meantime, I am left with a charge for a product that I have already paid for. After calling, yet again, and asking to speak to a manager, yet again, I was informed that my payment would be refunded. Given the level of customer service I received this evening, I am not holding my breath. read more

I visited Lowes about two weeks ago with an attempt to get some advice on painting my neglected home. I knew it needed some serious prep work as the paint has been peeling for years. I had lots of questions and little knowledge on the correct way to prep and paint my house. Fortunately for me, I ran into the Department Manager Jesse (Thank God) . He took the time to explain all the best ways to do the Job; step by step. As I was trying to cut corners and save time, Jesse advised me to follow the steps in order to get the best results. It took me a little while longer than I expected to do the job, but the results don't lie even for a novice like me. Lowe's sucks almost in every state I've ever lived in but we recently bought a fridge from this Lowe's and the costumer service sucks! We spent over $2,000.00 on a new fridge, first it gets delivered with a dent in the freezer door when the delivery driver calls the manager, we over hear on speaker phone to offer us $100 off or bring it back! We had no fridge in the house we are renting and waited for 12 days for this one to get delivered and would have to wait 12 days for a new one! Desperate for a fridge we accept the $150 discount which is not even 10% and keep the fridge. The guys set it up and left, we put finally go buy groceries put them in our new fridge, over $400 dollars worth of groceries 24 hrs later our fridge ruined all of food as it still is not to the correct temperature!! We called back and told them to came get there piece of shit! They still haven't showed up, now I'm waiting another 3 weeks for another new fridge, not only the loss of groceries but waiting for a refund and on top of that all the extra food expenses of eating out without a fridge!!! read more

So I went into the Lowe's Hanford store to buy a single item...Well I saw a line of about 30 people long, and it stretched out all the way to one side of the store. They had closed the register in outdoor garden, and had everyone funneled into a single line with a grand total of 3 registers to handle everything. Now you would think management would observe this condition and maybe open up the other idle registers right? Well I've never seen more than 3 registers open at this store. So I go home and order my item on line, for store pick up....Yeah, ok, so I waited a day to get a notification on when the item would be ready, so I called the third day, and after going through their voice mail system 4 times I spoke with a "customer service" representative who told me "We are getting a lot of orders each day" and told me "I don't know" when the item would be ready for pick up...She finally told me it might be a week to get the item ready. I cancelled the order, and went to Home Depot online and ordered the same item. They sent me the confirmation, and 2 1/2 hours later the item was ready and I picked it up. I cancelled my Lowe's credit card (which over the years I have spent thousands of dollars with) Lowe's could learn a lot from Home Depot, and Home Depot will be getting all my future business. read more

I went into Lowe's to inquire about kitchen cabinets. The person in that department was not available (Jaime Stanley), so I was greeted by Chanse Wells (outstanding customer service). He explained to me that Jaime Stanley would return shortly. I continued to walk around the store and as soon as she returned I received a call letting me know she was available to assist me with my inquiries. I met with her and she was very knowledgeable and informative. She provided me with kitchen cabinet design that I was very satisfied with. The assistant manager JoJo was great also. If you ever need remodeling done, stay away from Lowe's in Hanford, CA. They will give you a window of 6 months from start to finish. My bathroom enclosure (custom shower) is at the six month window and still not done. Lowe's will sub- contract your project to a licence contractors and you will have to deal with them when things aren't going well. Lowe's will have rep for materials only but as far as quality of work, they leave that to the contractors and you will have to deal with the headaches. First, they didn't order enough glass blocks to cover my window. So during hot summer nights, my A/C of course is working hard than normal because only tape is covering the window opening and I'm getting drafts. Second, they shorted me some wall tiles and had to be special order (2 to 3 weeks). Third, wrong color of grout was delivered. Fourth, not enough grout but the right color. Lastly, the glass door vendor they hired do not carry smoke glass which I stated I wanted from the start. So I now, I'm at stand still on my glass enclosure and door. Lesson learned on my part and I'm just putting this out there so you might want to think twice before going to Lowe's in Hanford, CA. If you know some reputable contractors from friends or relatives, you might want to start calling them and have them bid on the project (comes with free estimate). You might save time and money and probably less headache too. read more

As with everyone else, we were extremely happy Lowe's opened in Hanford, stopped us from driving to Visalia or Fresno as back 8 years ago we stopped going to Homeless Depot for 1,000's of reasons but basically, they had staff with no clue in every single department. However, Lowe's Hanford excels. We have purchased shutters, carpet, flooring, major appliances & a lot to other small & medium size products and never once had an issue. Names for recognition Garrett, Bob, Raphael, Luis, Crystal, Robert, Joe, Randy, and those whose names we forgot please let everyone know we like the service, the knowledge (this was the major deficiency at HD). We just experienced an insurance claim for water damage and the key players were Robert primary, Joe and (another young lady whose name escapes me) but also Garrett who worked us through the mortgage bank issues, which were cumbersome at best. We will be using Lowe's again for another remodel in September and we anticipate no issues. read more

Normally I wouldn't take the time to complain about horrible customer service but I feel totally disrespected. I was in the paint department for 10 minutes looking at colors to paint my new home. And I noticed that the paint associate Eric was talking to a customer for about 20 minutes. I kept looking at him wondering if he was going to help me as another customer came up he acknowledged them and not me. He proceeded to talk to that customer for around 10 to 15 minutes. At this point I felt discouraged so I left to the drapery department, I was looking at drapery for about 20 minutes and then decided to go back to the paint department. This time to the front desk and he was STILL talking to the same customer! He turned and looked at me and not once acknowledged me or said could he help me. Apparently whatever he was showing the customer on HIS PHONE was more important that helping me. At this point I decided I wasn't going to give Lowes one more cent of my money. Worst Lowes I've ever been to. The Visalia Lowes blows Hanford Lowes out of the water in terms of customer service. It actually took longer to pay for the item then it was to find it, with no help from any staff member. Got to the cashier and there were already 2 people ahead of me and the cashier was having issues with the person in front of the line. She was dealing with the same issue when I walked by so the line did not move at all. 10 min. later I finally asked her why don't you just upen another register. All she did was look at me and basically ignored me. Another 10 min later someone finally opened another register. It makes me wonder WHAT WAS THE SUPERVISOR DOING ALL THESE TIME!! Obviously he's not caring nor paying attention cause I come here a few times a week and I encounter this SLOW LINE often. I absolutely LOVE this store. The customer service desk is so helpful and the employees on the floor, for the most part, are great. Everyone seems to have a smile on their faces and know what they are talking about. It is about how you approach people in general. If you approach an associate with a snoty attitude, dont be surprised if you get some back. If I could I give zero stars that's what I would give. I ordered an appliance online, it said it was ready to be delivered to me April 12, after speaking to members from the store and delivery service several times , they just kept giving me the run around of when my appliance would be delivered. I called on April 16 to check status and she said item was STILL at store to be delivered to me but she said she would put notes that my order would go out Friday April 20 and would get a call on Thursday night between 7-9pm ... Thursday comes....NO CALL. So I called ... AGAIN... talked to someone at the store AGAIN and she said "oh when would you like delivered, it's been here" and I said "tomorrow like I was told" after speaking to a manager, which she said the manager would call me himself, and did NOT, she called me back to say they could deliver it Sunday. I told her this was not acceptable and someone needed to make this right, she just said sorry and there was nothing she could do. I told her how upset I was and she just kept saying she understood and there's nothing she could do even after I told her my husband took the day off of work to await our appliance. The manager wouldn't even get on the phone to speak to me so I told the team member to cancel my order. Terrible, after a Large Purchase of a Washer and Dryer for $1800 went back for a Small Refrigerator Light Bulb, stood in the light bulb section for 10 minutes, NO ONE AROUND, so I go over to the Appliance section and a worker follows me to the Bulb section and he can't find it but was Helpful, so he intercoms for a Light Bulb specialist to assist in the section, after waiting another 10 minutes, NO ONE SHOWS, so I see another worker and ask him to intercom a specialist which he does and another 10 minutes goes by AND NO ONE SHOWS, so another worker is passing through the section and he tries to help so he intercoms a Specialist and NO ONE SHOWS, so now TOTALLY FRUSTRATED, I go to Customer Services and ask t Speak to the Manager and she tries several times to contact him and FINALLY he calls back and says he will be RIGHT UP!!! After waiting another 10 minutes I tell the CSR Lady that Obviously its NOT IMPORTANT TO THE MANAGER EITHER AND I LEFT, THE MANAGER IS AS BAD AS HIS EMPLOYEES, Home Depot is right across the street, I was in and out in 5 minutes, I shop at Lowes everyday in Fresno with Great Service!!!!
