Went to Lowe's today. Hard to believe this store can stay in business. You never can find anyone to help. We did pass one woman who pointed us to an aisle to look for electrical adapters. We couldn't find what we wanted so we went back to the front. Jay was there on his phone monitoring the self checkout. My husband asked him where to find adapters. He looked up from his phone and said something. My husband said excuse me because he couldn't hear him. He seemed put out to be bothered. He said aisle 4 loudly. My husband said do you know where on aisle 4. He said no.( jay is wearing a vest that says Customer service) My husband said well I guess I should just buy on Amazon. Jay shrugged his shoulders and went back to his phone. I then proceeded to the customer service desk and asked to speak to a manager. We waited 10 minutes. I heard the girl call again for a manager. We finally gave up and left. My prediction is Lowe's will be closing soon with the economy the way it is and the lack of customer service in the store. Horrible customer service in lumber department. Waited for 20 minutes to be help and then was finally "helped" by someone who acted as if I was an inconvenience. Was trying to get some material pulled from inventory sense not enough was in the rack. Employee said they didn't have any (said 750 available online) and then wouldn't communicate with me to make sure we were on the same page about the material I was looking for, and someone who seemed more in-charge was standing nearby and didn't step in to help either. Was told "I could go in the back and look myself if I didn't believe him." read more

I placed an online order for a curtain rod and it accidentally picked up my husbands name instead of mine on the order and Cynthia at the desk would not allow me to pick it up despite having my husbands ID, the order in my email, the pick up being associated with my phone number and me showing her the order in my email with the scan code. Do not go to this store! If there was a way to give, "No stars!" that's what I would do. The return desk has no customer service experience! I told them that my wife bought a keyed door lock two days earlier. When I went to install it, on Saturday morning the last step is to put the inside handle on and tighten the set screw with Allen wrench on the inside handle. There were no threads inside the handle so you couldn't attach it. That was the only thing that was wrong. So, I took the receipts and only the defective handle to the store. The rest of the set was fine and the door could still be locked on the outside. When I got to the store, I asked if they would allow me to go get another set and only remove the piece I needed. Then they could take the defective part I had and put that in the box and complete the return. Seemed pretty understandable. But no, she said I had to go get the complete set and return that to get my credit. I told her, if I have to do that, my house would be open, because I was the only one home. She couldn't understand what I was trying to explain so she got someone on her phone and another lady came up and also said no, with an anti customer service attitude. I should have just walked in, without my return, bought another one, walked outside and swapped out the part in my car and walked back in just to make everyone happy. So I went home, removed the entire lock set and left my house wide open. Returned to LOWES got my money back and went to THD! When I explained what happened to THD associate, he totally understood what I was doing, he said we do it all the time. Really no issues with this location. It is kind of hidden away, so if you aren't familiar with the area it can kind of sneak up on you - not clearly visible from the main street. The store itself had a good supply of everything. They were getting into full Christmas mode (see pics) and getting tons of stuff out and on display. Really had a large assortment of lights (tree/house), so they would be a good spot to check out if you are needing some of those items. Outside of that, this was a typical Lowe's location. Good selection of building materials, appliances, tools, grills, smokers, weed and bug sprays, plants ...... the list goes on and on. Made a purchase and used the self checkout, so no real interactions with employees, but the person working by the self checkout thanked me for shopping there and wished me a good day. If I was in the area again, I'd use this Lowe's to find something I was looking for. read more

Placed an online order on June 23rd. Order was scheduled to arrive at Hoover Lowe's on June 27th. Item had still not arrived by July 2nd. When we were in store that day we asked about it. Customer service representative could not find the status of the order. She suggested we call the web order number on Monday, July 5th. July 5th we call web services. They state that the order has arrived at Hoover Lowe's and they will have someone to call us. No one called, so we had to go the the store for something else that day, we stopped by customer service. Representative still could not find order, I asked her to go check in the back. I followed her to the back, no one physically checked as I watched. They went to another computer in the back. The representative at receiving said that the order was not there. At this time I had been in the store 30 minutes looking for answers. Now I ask for the "store manager". After 15 minutes the "manager" arrives. He now physically goes to the back and searches, still no door. He comes back about 25 minutes later and says the door is not there and they "think" it is in Rome, GA. I inform them that the door was due in store 7 days ago and that I needed the door. He then ask if I would like to speak to the store manager. I tell him that I asked for the store manager earlier and I assumed that was him. He says that "No, I am the sales manager." I inform him that I wish to speak to the store manager now, He says I will call him. I inform him that he will physically walk me back to the store manager because I asked for them over an hour ago now. I finally meet face to face with Tyrone Giles, the store manager. He is very apologetic. I inform him that I am not there for apologizes but there for a door. He cannot give me answers as to where the door is, but offers a reduced cost as compensation. That was nice but still does not get our bathroom finished. Tyrone says that he will get a representative to comp us the difference, I insist that he do it himself. He struggled with the computer and could not print me a confirmation of the refund. I had to take a screen shot to prove that the refund was given. Then the sales manager comes back and shows a Fed-Ex tracker, showing that the door was damaged by Fed-Ex on June 28th and sent back to the manufacturer. My question was, why could someone not tell me that on July 2nd? He states, "well that's not our normal way to track things." I asked Tyrone when the replacement door would be sent. He could not give an answer. He did give me his cell phone number to call and find out. Poor leadership leads to poor workers. If the leadership at this Lowe's could not solve the problems, how do they expect their customer service representative to solve problems. Customers should be informed if there is a problem with their order and not have to find out 7 days later and suffer through a 1 1/2 hour personal independent investigation at the store. Had I not asked questions and forced answers, would they have called and told us the order was delayed/damaged? I doubt it. Worst customer service by Lowes.com and by the store in Hoover, AL. I dove two hours after calling to make sure they had a particular electric stove in stock, witch they did according to the person I stole to on the phone. I used the pay online, pick up in store feature. This Lowe's does better than Walmart with this feature, but they could learn from Home Depot, whose process is practically seamless. I have gone to this Lowe's twice within the last week. A close parking spot was easy to find both times. The workers at the pick up area could be a bit friendlier, but both times, my items were found quickly. I prefer Home Depot but when I cannot find what I need there, I have no problem with coming to this store. read more

No Longer A Lowe's Lover! On Monday, September 26, 2022, around 4:30pm, at the Lowe's on Valleydale Rd, Hoover, Alabama, I needed assistance with finding a product the app said was in stock. I drove past other Lowe's stores who didn't have this item. I went to the aisle and bin the app gave for the location. NOTHING! I then walked around 20 minutes looking for help. I saw 3 different employees and waved to get their attention. They each looked at me and turn their heads away as they walk away! I found a worker at the flooring desk who paged for someone to meet me on aile 6. 10 minutes later NOTHING! I then walked to the customer service desk and asked for the store manager. No response. Three employees were standing together talking. No other customers were at the desk. After about 20 seconds I repeated that I needed to speak to a manager. NOTHING!! I waited 15 seconds. So, for the 3rd time I asked again. Then one of the girls snapped at me with,"We'll get to you in a minute!" The first two times I requested to speak to a manager it was as if I was invisible or in an alternate universe. But, the third time, it was as if I had committed a hideous crime and Hell had descended!!! I said a few choice words, the d-word & s-word, all about how Lowe's is headed the way of Home Quarters, Circuit City, Sears and Service Merchandise. This location is one you can fly by without knowing it is there. It is very tucked away. The store itself could use a facelift. They have implemented some social distancing measures, but the store feels more cramped than other Lowe's locations, so I'm not sure how much good they're actually doing. Tried to return two solar outside spot lights that do not work. Did not have my receipt. Paid for the items with gift card. I even found my transaction date and a small charge that covered the tax for the purchase. I was denied a store credit for the purchase. I asked to speak to who ever was over these nice ladies. I just purchased a refrigerator and after multiple visits to get someone to wait on me, I finally got served. As I knew the unit I wanted, I told the associate who entered the information in the computer. He calculated the price which I knew was incorrect; it was too high. His first response was that all the price signs were wrong. I explained that Lowe's and I had a contract at that price when I went to the register and told him I wanted to buy. it. He then went back and looked at the price sign and came back and entered the $250.00 discount specified. I wonder how many people just take what they are given without questioning. They got a great deal of advertising for there award however after trying to redeem the certificate on 3 separate occasions they told us the certificate had been redeemed in a town store we have never seen or know. Lowe's has changed delivery providers to "Spirit Logistics" and no longer accepts responsibility for communication or damaged items. DO NOT HAVE THEM DELIVER YOUR APPLIANCES! Things will be scheduled 1.5 months out and you will get no advanced notification the day before, the day of, or even 30 minutes before a driver shows up. Good luck if you're supposed to work on that day. Lowe's and Spirit expect you to just sit around and hope that someone will show up some time with the things you paid for. This location is convenient to my house, so I shop there frequently. The staff is always very helpful and friendly, and the store usually has the items that I need in stock. This week, there was an item that I needed, and I didn't realize it until very near their closing time. I showed up at the store right at closing time and promised the staff that I would move quickly to get my item. They told me to take my time and get what I needed and they would be there to help. In a world where everyone is short staffed, it's nice to visit a place that still values customer service. I'm thankful for this convenient location of Lowe's. read more

CURVE SIDE PICK UP is a joke. We called about 15 times to let them know of our arrival and nobody answered the phone. So, decided to walk in. I was second in line. The employee walked through Customer Service several times and never acknowledged anyone. By this time, there is either 4 or 5 of us in line. She never said ...she will be with us in a moment - nothing! After 10 minutes, she acknowledge man in front of me. My turn, told her I had been calling in and nobody answering phone (she said nothing-no apology, really!). Told her I had bought a grill on line hours ago and would like to pick it up. It's in the assembly line. What? You have 15 like the one I purchased out front can you load one of these? No. Your ticket doesn't allow this since it has the word "assembly" on it. Asked for a manager. Chris, manager, comes up. I asked him if we could just load one of the grills out front in my vehicle and he says sure. The previous lady had a come apart and explained to him that IT (technology) doesn't allow it. He apologized and said that he knows nothing about the cash registers. (A manger doesn't know how the cash registers work, really?) So, I asked for a full refund. Long story short, Marena, another manger, heard what was going on. She stepped up to the plate and came to assist. She was all about customer service and making the customer happy. Hands up to her. She did an awesome job. Thank you, Marena! I say this to say, curve side pick up would be nice IF IT WORKED. They need to come up with a plan and have an employee (or employees) that do nothing but man this post. Also, they need managers who know the rules, policies, and how their cash registers (systems) work. Customer service, in general, needs to improve. This is the worst store I've been in. I went in on a Tuesday waiting to get some blinds cut and no one in site, I asked for help and nobody ever showed then I left after 30 minutes. Went into the store on Valleydale Rd in Hoover Alabama. Found item I wanted. Only self check-out was open but it woldn't accept the bar code. 4 Lowe's emloyees were standing right there but refused to help. There was, by now, a long line of people trying to check out. Three of the 4 employees were engaged in conversations...njot about hardware. I went to Customer service with my item. The employee there was absolutely insolent and insisted that I go back to the self checkout. When I told her that it wouldn't work, she called another employee and they tried to chck out my item. The second employee said that it was her quitting time and left. The insolent one told me that my item was not a Lowe's item and handed it to me, telling me that I could just keep it. I returned the item to the shelf where I got it and left. Lowe's might want to look at their employees' manners. I'm off to Home Depot. read more

I go to Lowe's a good bit because my partner always seems to need something. Because of that, I've probably been to every location in the Birmingham Metro Area and I have to say that this is by far the best one. The people that work here are so pleasant and helpful. They always have a smile on their face and they're always working so hard. The store is always neat and tidy and everything is easy to find and well-stocked. I am VERY upset right now. The lady that is in human resources at this branch on Valleydale in Hoover her name is Tanya. She is the biggest liar I have ever come across in my 39 years. She look me in my face 2 weeks ago and lied lied lied lied. She told me to get in contact with a certain manager his name's Jerry which I can say is an amazing man he should be working at Lowe's in the position he is in because he cares about people and he cares about Lowes. Let's get back to Tonya I went and spoke with her about a week and a half ago I've been waiting on an application for 6 weeks she looked me dead in my face and told me she had not had any orientations and she hadn't gotten any paperwork back because she's so lazy she said that she was going to do everybody's orientation it one time when I spoke with her she told me that I needed to speak to Mr Jerry who I'm saying again is an amazing man he knows how to deal with customers he knows how to deal with employees / people trying to be hired as well anyways to speak to him on this matter so I called him today he assured me that they had already had three orientations and had already brought four people own. I am not swaying you from ever putting an application in at Lowe's everyone that I have come encounter with at that store and I'm there almost every day because my husband is a contractor and we spend a lot of money there like I said I'm not sweating you from going and buying material there I'm not sweating you from even putting in an application tomorrow morning to work for that team because everybody I met was amazing except for Tonya in human resources she is a liar liar my husband also went to the back 3 weeks ago and spoke with her and she told him the same thing so why she's lying to me I want the public to know that Tonya in human resources on Valleydale is a big fat liar. Bought a mower 2 Saturday's ago they were supposed to deliver it the next day, but I got the mower on Thursday. Only after talking to the manager for the third time did I end up getting delivered on Thursday. No telling how long it would've taken if I didn't. Delivery Department manager is completely inept. Then today I gave this Lowe's one more chance only to find out that the person (named after a cigarette brand) at the register was a complete douche. My husband and I went in to get some top soil, when we got there there was a sign saying busted bags $1. Just to be sure before loading up our cart he even went and asked an employee and they said the same thing. We loaded up 8 bags that were busted and got in line. Once at the check out counter the cashier said that they weren't "busted enough" which isn't specified anywhere! We didn't choose the most empty bags but also chose the ones that were leaking soil. I have only shopped in the garden center, but the staff there was extremely polite and helpful. I visited three times in two weeks, and all three experiences were great. They went out of there way to make sure I found everything I needed, and they were able to answer any and all questions I had. I went to purchase an appliance and it stated it was available for store pickup online. What started out as a good experience and a helpful rep quickly went south. They did not have the product in stock and I asked the rep if they had free shipping, he said they did. He then pulled it up and told me it didn't qualify for free shipping. I asked him to call a manager to speak with them as shipping was more than the $20 difference to get free shipping. The rep then told me it wasn't worth his time to call a manager. I then asked if he was refusing to call the manager and he said yes. He then told me I could go to the front desk if I wanted to speak with a manager. I informed him I would be filing a complaint and would not be purchasing anything from that Lowe's again. As I walked off the sales associate beside him started laughing. My husband and I have been to this Lowe's in Hoover numerous times during our process of moving...and they have been fantastic! We have been to Lowe's in multiple locations of different cities & states, and this one tops them all. They addressed all of our questions, helped gather the materials we needed for our home construction, and ensured that we were receiving the best deal. Ms. Linda in appliances was superb and helped us when in getting our fridge delivered at a timely manner after a dilemma we encountered: Our fridge was special order & we wanted it before our in-laws came to visit our new place. It was ordered 11/26/19 and due to deliver 12/31/19. However, she spent extra time to locate a fridge in the warehouse & then personally spoke with the delivery crew to ensure us a delivery earlier...she arranged for delivery on 12/8/19 instead!! The guys who came out to deliver & setup our items were fantastic, kind, courteous & cautious in their moving process so as to avoid any damage to our belongings or property. When I found a cheaper price at another appliance store for our fridge, Lowe's quickly price matched & provided us the discount. Overall, my husband & I are very pleased with this Lowe's! We will definitely continue to utilize them in the future. read more

This is one of my go-to home improvement stores. This is an older smaller stand alone Lowe's location compared to some of the large strip mall anchor versions you see. I had a friend that worked here in college that helped me maneuver the ins and outs of home ownership and the constant upkeep and maintenance requirements involved with purchasing your first home. I basically just kept coming though this isn't the closest home improvement store to my house. I've been to the larger newer Alabaster location multiple times; however, the caliber of employee and level of service do not compare. The last time I was in the store to ask about caulk I had no less than 3 different employees approach me and offer assistance when they saw me reading labels. Two of them were members of management. That is leading by example. Roy and Shane are the 2 I seek out when I have questions. These guys know home improvement and are happy to help. I've never been made to feel dumb and they always welcome my inquiries despite their other responsibilities. They've each dropped what they were doing without hesitation and helped me with varied queries. Solid employees set this place apart. These guys have been with Lowe's for years. This is the only home improvement store where I know people by name and I always feel confident going forward with the information I receive. read more

I have been a loyal customer of Lowe's for over three decades! So,June 2017 I decided to make my life easy and sign a remodel contract with Chris Spivey at the Homewood, Al. store. Everything went down hill after I signed the contract and was charged thousands of dollars. Pricing was charged higher than quoted on my actual invoice. They Delivered the wrong cabinets, after correcting that mistake insisted I sign they were delivered, even though I was short two boxes. ( I did not sign) they found them later and delivered. I was told the job would start as soon as the cabinets were delivered, and should be about a ten day job. Two months passed before anyone started even though the cabinets arrived three weeks later. A new hot water tank was installed August 2017, in January 2018 the contractor ask me to sign a completion form. I told him NO you are not finished as if he had checked his work five months earlier their was at least 14 inches of live lines sticking out of the wall. They never connected the power to the tank. These are just a few mistakes, when I say everything I mean EVERYTHING WAS UNPROFESSIONAL. It is going on ten months, all the people I stated with at Lowe's were replaced within three months of my contract. The contractor Matt is now saying he can not finish the bathroom, said it is not in the contract to put in a new shower handle, even though he put in some new tile and a shower head that Chris Spivey discussed and sold me the package deal. I ask Matt if it wasn't in the contract why did he do any work at all in the bathroom? The regional manager Erica Henderson that was assigned to my project last September 2017 had no clue January of 2018 that the job had not been complete. Never followed up with me, so much for her job description! All I wanted was for Lowe's to honor my contract, nothing more or less. Up until February 27, 2018 I had hope this would happen. Instead the executive office offered me a $250.00 gift card. Rather insulting. I declined as I will need a few thousand more dollars to finish this job! My disappointment is beyond words. I feel the Lowe's personnel I dealt with needed more training, I only wish Lowe's executive office could have seen this! So, think twice before signing with Lowe's.
