Service at this store in general has been improving as they seem to have more staff on the floor to help with finding things and questions. But they still don't offer free delivery on anything and I'm really liking how How Depot has free next day delivery on a wide range of items. But...today at Lowes I was looking for something and a man who at first I thought deserved the "Mr. Helpful" award, turned out to be an outside salesman. He was wearing a Lowe's badge and I did find it odd that he didn't have a handheld device to look items up, Who was he? A guy trying to sell solar to me. Scare tactics: "ComEd is asking for a ten billion dollar rate hike! They'll drive you to it!" ComEd has made no such request in Illinois. The reality is ComEd just got approval for a less than one billion dollar rate hike. I told him my concern with solar, besides the ongoing rental fees, is when the panels reach the end of their life span, often the company responsible wants nothing to do with removing and properly disposing of them. This has happened in the US with large ones mounted in farmer's fields. The solar companies pay the farmers for their panels to be installed there for other purposes and they leave the farmers with what is potential hazardous waste. Hugely irresponsible conduct. Also, while he was chatting away, he told me Lowes and Home Depot are owned by the same company, a private investor. That's completely false. Although large investment companies like Vanguard and Blackrock own a lot of their stock, they acquire it so investors can buy it through their mutual funds. I am disappointed in Lowes for letting non-employee salesmen run loose in their stores, using scare tactics and giving out false information. Beware that Lowes can refuse to honor its own written guarantee. I purchased a planting pot with Colorado Blue Spruce on 12/09/20233. Item's label clearly and unambiguously displayed 1 year guarantee period and the cashier confirmed the same guarantee period at the time of the purchase. This purchase would not make sense without at least a few month's guarantee as people are not usually planting trees in Illinois in December. I brought this item for a refund or replacement on 05/13/2023. I provided the item's cashier slip and item's label that advertised 1 year guarantee period. The Lowes store assistant manager refused to honor the written guarantee. According to him, my purchase was a "holiday item", and Lowes's return policy (lowes.com/returns) does not allow returning "holiday items". The phone call to the Lowes did not help either. I believe my consumer rights were violated by Lowes using deceptive sales for the following reasons: 1. The Advertised guarantee period was the major decision factor during the purchase, and the guarantee was not honored 2. Nothing on the item's display or nearby stated that this is a "holiday item". On the opposite, the cashier confirmed the 1 year guarantee period during the purchase time. 3. Lowes return policy mentions only returns, and says nothing about replacement. Lowes refused the item's replacement and exchange 4. Definitions of the "holiday item" and "items purchased before the holidays" were interpreted in a deceptive (and unfair to the customer) way to cover the purchase date which was two and half weeks before Christmas. This way any item could be declared as a "holiday item" behind the customer's back, and any day of the year can be declared as a "day before (or after) the holiday". read more

This was my go-to store until a couple of months ago. Here's a quick synopsis. - Redeemed points for Lowe's Gift Cards - Bought several boxes of flooring - Returned unused boxes - Customer Service says looks good, we sent the refund back to your card - I said, what card? - The card you used to pay for the flooring - I don't have that card. You took it at the time of purchase. I assume you threw it out, it was a gift card. - Oh, sh*t. They called a manager over, who confirmed that the funds were now on the gift cards. At this point I assumed they would issue store credit instead, and everything would be settled. No. They aren't allowed to do that, the manager said. I said why not? It has to go through accounting (or something like that). They can't approve something like that. At this point it sounded to me like they were stonewalling to CYA, but I had a migraine and wasn't ready for this fight. I was just hoping for an easy refund. So the manager comes back with a list of steps that *I* have to do, the following Monday, to try to get my money back. I said why am I doing the legwork for your mistake? She said because they won't talk to her, they need to talk to me. I tried calling on Monday - they had no trace of the refund. No trace of the card numbers to which the money was supposed to go to. I called the assistant manager back and explained that they had nothing, and she said she would pursue it with her store manager. Additionally, I called corporate 2x, both times requiring over 30 minutes on the phone. Nothing. No one was ever able to help, find the money, or otherwise rectify the situation. The Assistant Manager simply stopped answering my emails. So, I won't ever be back, which is genuinely a net loss to Lowe's. I spend easily $4-5k a year there, and they absolutely refused to refund $152.48. Very short sighted, but I'm glad they exposed their fraudulence on a relatively small amount. I would caution anyone currently patronizing this or any Lowe's store to avoid relying on their good faith. They have none. read more

I had 2 orders with Lowes in New Lenox. First one never arrived and some how it was cancelled by the store by mistake. No apology or solution was offered. This cost me several hours of lost work and paying of workers who didn't have materials. I made another order for a basement I'm redoing and again the delivery was messed up. Impossible to speak with management no one calls you back or offers any solutions or apologies. Another date where their incompetence cost me valuable time and money. I will not be returning to this location, or Lowe's in general. I have had a few subpar experiences here, but the last experience was the final straw. I was trying to buy a dishwasher through a Lowe's credit card. A mistake was made, so the whole order had to be refunded and reordered again. Fine, mistakes happen. I was told the refund would be pushed through on my card within a week or so. After 2 weeks, I decided to call Synchrony (manages the Lowe's Credit Card) to see the status of my refund. I was told a refund was never processed from this location. I have all my receipts saved, but I was double-charged, and now I am waiting in dispute to hopefully get my money back in the next 2 billing cycles. This was the icing on the cake for bad experiences here. read more

DO NOT PURCHASE APPLIANCES FROM THIS LOCATION! I purchased a new fridge and stove in July. Upon delivery the fridge had dents in the door. I traveled 35 minutes back to the store to purchase a different fridge only to have that one arrive days later with dents. I was done at that point and canceled the order completely. They failed to credit items back to my llowes card and now I'm jumping through hoops to refund the parts and extended warranty. Meanwhile the credit card is charging me late fees for not paying for something I never took possession of. Aweful experience and I will likely never return to any Llowes store. When I complained about the delivery service I was told "You aren't the first and probably not the last". That's your quality. read more

I purchased a new stove and over the range microwave/hood combo and set up for installation. Both the person who I purchased the items from and a person representing the installation company (CRST Home Solutions) were aware that there was not an outlet. I was advised that would be extra to be determined on the day of delivery/installation. Installer said he was "unprepared" for this. Poor communication somewhere. He left as he was running late he said. I called installations felt at Lowe's and get a ridiculous response that even though I informed both Lowe's sales person and person from installation company that they did not know they needed to do an outlet. Installer told me I needed to get an electrician and then they could reschedule the install. Sorry. If you can't make sure everything is ready prior to arriving I am not going to allow you to even attempt installation. I'll probably return the unit and purchase somewhere else where I can expect good customer service and people who listen to what I tell them. read more

Came to this location on Mother's Day with my mom looking for bird feeders and a bird bath. Before we approached the location, we made sure to check that the location carried the products we wanted in-store. We arrived only to see they had a very small selection available for purchase and wasn't for the items we had in mind. When we asked for assistance carrying and shifting items around to assess the quality of what they had, the products were all chipped or damaged. We didn't have the worst customer service experience here like other reviewers, but I definitely do think there are better locations to visit instead. read more

Worthless. Come in to buy some 3mm MDF. Didn't have any but that's ok I found some 5mm underlayment that would work. Asked the kid by the saw if he could cut a single 4x8 sheet down for me before I drag it over. Was told yes. Got my wood, came back less than 5 minutes and he is gone. Walked up front and asked for someone to cut it down. Cashier said he would call someone and to go back by the saw to wait. 20 minutes and nothing. Planning on upcycling some furniture and went into Lowe's for some paint, not even knowing what kind I should get or the options. Detry, in the paint department, helped answer all my questions and even told us about the BOGO paint sample deal! She dealt with my annoying self buying 9 paint samples!!! She was awesome and even walked up to the cash register while we were checking out to make sure everything rang up smoothly! Today I was told that the paint that I have purchased three or more times here within the last month cannot be mixed using a clear picture of the lid outside of the can which clearly has the type of paint, tint etc... everything is on it. I buy it by the gallon as I complete one section of the exterior at a time. The paint associate said that he did not know how to mix it and called Orland park to see if someone could tell him how to make this mix that is clearly on the lid! According to this associate, no one answered. I guess there are no other Lowe's around besides Orland Park that he could have called. The manager Marisol comes over with an annoyed look on her face telling me that they cannot mix it when I have purchased this same paint mix three different times here using the same picture of the lid. One person tells me to come back in 1/2 hour then Marisol tells me to come back after an hour. Sure thing Marisol, I've got nothing else to do but come back. No apology, just a half smirk on her face because I was interrupting her day. WOW! Customer service has really gone down the tubes! It's not that they could not help me or find a solution by calling another store, the point is that they just didn't want to help me. Terrible service. read more

We used to be long term customers of Lowe's for our house and outdoor needs but we switched to become customers of ABT. I had bought a fridge online using our account and a couple gift cards we were given. The day of delivery, the guys came and needed access to shut the fridge water off. We have a relationship rly old house so the only way to shut the water off is to shut the whole house water off temporarily, which Lowe's refused to do so I was forced to reject the fridge. 2 weeks later, the fridge is still showing up on my account. I called the store and they said that in order to get the credit, I have to go to the Merrillville store (an hour away) to get the refund and my gift cards re-issued. We just had our Fridge delivered by ABT and they were phenomenal!! Got us set up with everything. We will be customers of ABT from now on. See ya, Lowe's. read more

I was told I could order samples of carpet on line from a very nice staff member. I placed my order, had an order number but didn't hear anything about it being ready for pick up. Come to find out my order was cancelled. Spoke to the same nice gentleman and he said to come in and they would try to order them for me. Went in to do that and a different staff member was there and was NOT friendly or helpful in the least bit. He was arguing with me about my "order" which he said wasn't an order because I never got it. Huh? That doesn't even make sense. He never once said I am sorry you are having trouble, let me see what I can do to help you..nothing. Zip, zero, zilch. We are considering a big carpet purchase from Lowes and if it wasn't for the very nice other gentleman, we would have walked a long time ago. Just a typical large hardware store. We go to this location even though there are many options in the area. They have a decent gardening department and well stocked plumbing area. We have purchased a weed wacker, water softener salt, and gardening products. Each time they were comparable to other hardware store prices. Overall we have good experiences but the staff is hit or miss and the various products quality are just okay. read more

I purchased a LG refrigerator in January. The compressor has gone out 3 months later. The technician that was sent out from LG stated it will take 2 weeks to receive the new compressor and it will break again in 3 months. He advised me to get rid of the refrigerator because it is nothing but problem. I lost about $600 in food, a day of work to be home for the service call, and I'm going to have to buy another fridge until my brand new one is fixed. Lowes told me to go buy a cooler for my family of 4! They will not take the fridge back and will only compensate me up to $250. Two billion dollars corporations and nobody will stand by there product. I will never shop at Lowes or buy LG again; they are you typical big corporations that do not care about the consumer.
