This update is for Lowe's home delivery and NOT in-store experiences, the latter of which have been both good and bad, and sometimes on the same visit. This time we ordered online wooden garden boxes to be delivered to our home for convenience sake. Good news: we got the boxes, exactly as ordered, on the day they were promised, and their condition was excellent. We quickly got them unpacked and set up (you can see the results in our photos). Lowe's Torrington: I cancelled an order yet it was still delivered despite multiple confirmations it wouldn't be. Imbeciles all during the process, from phone order to Torrington store to delivery. No matter what "yea-rah-rah" team-building cheer reply from a manager, they are straight-up awful. They are an advertisement NOT to shop locally. Go to anywhere but here. They should really not be in business, and a few more years of such poor all-around work, I know they won't be. Bunch of morons who will never learn. I had 2 very negative experiences with this Lowes over the last few months. Today, I drove 20 mins to Lowes for one thing - a bathroom exhaust fan. As I was comparing which one to get, an employee called from the end of the aisle that she was blocking it off. I asked if I could still look at the fans, and she said no, I had to leave the aisle. While I understand that they can't do whatever it is they need to do while I'm there, she SHOULD HAVE offered me assistance to find what I needed quickly instead of kicking me out. They also could have waited until the store closed to block off entire aisles. It's before 7pm, and the store doesn't close until 10. What bs Also, in July, I ordered an airconditioner to be delivered by Lowes. I received notification that the airconditioner was delivered to my door, but it was not. I contacted customer service, who told me they'd look into it. One of my neighbors found it sitting in front of a group of mailboxes on the other side of my condo complex. $200 unit, sitting there for anyone to take. Customer service never called me back. I ordered a gas range by phone on 12/26/25. I was going to go with a local appliance store (hindsight) and they said the item was back ordered. I looked at Lowes and the site said they had 24 in stock. I needed the range switched from natural gas to propane and opted for Lowes installation. THIS WAS A HUGE MISTAKE. What the sales person neglected to mention was that this means Lowes has a different ordering process and it would take 10 days from the date of order to have the range delivered to Lowes and then I had to wait for a call for installation. Someone needs to look into this ridiculous process and streamline it. They also never knew exactly where the warehouse was or indicated there was any tracking available. Had I not needed Lowes installation the range would have gotten to me in 2 days. After multiple calls and a new answer every time the range was delivered to Lowes on 12/9. I was told I would get an email when it reached the store. Surprise I did not and had to call. I then was given the number for installation so I could schedule it myself. They had ONE day available in the following week. That was today. As luck would have it the snow cancelled all installs for today and the next date they have is in a week. So I paid for this item on 12/26 and still have not taken delivery. To add to the fun, this is my second Lowes appliance purchase that is being replaced 2 years after I bought it. I would in hindsight go with a local appliance company even if the price was a bit higher just to avoid the frustration that Lowes consistently supplies for the last 3 appliance purchases I have made. The only part of this process that hasn't been unbelievably frustrating is the installation people who have nothing to do with Lowes. Customer service at the Torrington Lowes is sub par. read more

Outstanding experience today 9.27.20 Dealt with an older gentleman in the appliance department named Tim O. Great guy. He didn't hound us. He gave is his opinion. The website was correct. It said they had a certain amount of washers in store in stock for delivery. And they were right on. I was able to save 20% off of the price today by opening their credit card. Capped at $100 discount, even if you purchased a $700 machine. No problem at all. No pre payment penalties. I can pay it off as soon as i receive the first bill. Easy process. Tim only needed my name number and address in back by the appliances. Then he sent me up front to the cashiers to finalize the transaction. This is where they needed all of my info to process the cc app. Easy peasy. Girl up front very nice Extremely simple process. Tim was such a pleasure to work with. This store is in the sticks in the woods not close to much else but it was well worth the drive out here to find in stock appliances. read more

While we appreciate everything Lowe's is doing to keep their staff and customer safe we are super disappointed with our shopping experience today. In the process of building a bed frame needed a power hand planer. Went to Lowe's and picked one up for $200. Drive 20 minutes home only to find out someone returned this box & Lowe's staff didn't even check the contents in the box to ensure the tool was intact. We paid $200 for a box of nails. Drove 20 min back to the store to exchange for a box with the planer in it & the service rep wasn't even going to check the retuned box until something was said about the nails!!! Don't just put returns on the shelf without checking them. SHAME on the customer who did this!! read more

Great place nice and clean, friendly employees if you are looking for electrical help that's an issue after a certain time no one is around to help you. Also if you need help loading items that are heavy it's a hit or miss to get someone. Cashiers call several times but sometimes it falls on deaf ears and you yourself have to search for young men to help you. But when you do go in help the Cashiers out fill out the survey at the bottom of the receipt and give them a 10 they take the blunt of everything. read more

Don't buy anything you can't take out with you. I have been waiting for a dishwasher for 6 weeks and spoke with them last night. They said it will be there tomorrow. Today comes and they say November(at least another month). Maybe they could have told me before I took the day off. Bad people or a bad system? The result is the same A BAD EXPERIENCE!! Do not get appliances delivered from them. The subs they use are soooooo bad. Even worse Lowe's doesn't even try to make anything right anymore like they use to. Didn't even have the customer survey after the delivery. I called the store and was told I needed to make a complaint to that company. I'm not seeing how that would work as I'm technically not even a customer. Corporate was no help either. Was told they'd call back and never have. Use to go to Lowe's for everything. They use to have good subs too. Corporate has done some restructuring and they're going for the lowest bidders now. read more

Looking for a product that showed 36 in stock. Went to the store to find the item. Took 15 mins before I can find someone who can help. Person kinda helped me. I mean all he did was "it should be in this area" and walked away. Kept looking for another 20 mins. No help. Decided to go online and do an in-store pickup. Went home and just wait for the pickup notification. 4 hours later, no confirmation. Called the store for a follow up. Person confirmed the in stock quantity. Was asked to just come down and pick it up myself. I explained the earlier situation and said I don't want to drive down just to waste time looking for the item or for a person for help. Person on the phone said "sorry but its either you come down here to pick it up yourself or you wait for us to pick it up for you". REALLY!? 4 hours for someone in the damn store to pick something up for a customer!? Its a service they are offering! Its not like I forced them to do it especially for me. PS: Also why give your associates camouflage vests? The purpose of those vest is to make the associates easily identifiable. Maybe thats why it took me forever to find help. read more

I try (or tried, anyway) to go here instead of their nearby (orange box) competitor because I would rather support the business that contributes to my local tax base, but whenever I go to Lowe's in Torrington and need help with something I am more often than not completely turned off! In the past when I have been here and had questions or needed assistance, I always had to go searching for it. I don't ever recall being asked by anyone if they could help. There are always people in Lowe's vests around, but they just keep looking straight ahead and walking unless you stop them. I have always been left with the impression that I was on my own in this store. This last visit (which will probably be my last visit) was no different. I walked into the store and found what I wanted right away. The price was prominently marked in more than one location. I went to check out and all of the self check outs were out of order, so I got in line at one of the two open registers. The one I picked turned out to be a new person who had to ask the other cashier questions (understandable and not a problem) so things were not all that fast. My cashier was very pleasant. As I left the store I noticed that I was overcharged for the item. Not a whole lot, but overcharged just the same. Not the cashiers fault either, it scanned at the wrong price. I walked right back in and went to the customer service desk where there were 4 persons behind the counter. 1 who was actually working with a customer making a return or possibly a purchase, another on the phone, and 2 at a register talking and doing something with the register, with no customer there. After standing looking at them for a bit, one of the two at the register looked at me and said "someone over there will help you in a little while", pointing to the other two. I waited for quite some time while no one was now even acknowledging my existence. I slowly moved between the man on the phone and the two talking at the register hoping for some response , but nothing. It would have been nice to have one of them at least say that they knew I was there, or have one of the two talking at the register stop briefly to see what I wanted...after all, I was at the CUSTOMER SERVICE desk! After waiting and being ignored for what I feel was far too long, I said in an audible voice "I'm not standing here waiting like a dope any more" and turned and walked out. I know this was noticed because I looked in the reflection in the glass door as I walked out and saw the two at the register looking at me. None of them called out to get my attention to see what I wanted, they just let me go. So I did, and the chances of me returning are about zero. read more

Purchased an LG washer and dryer on 7/5. No delivery as of 8/2. They called on 8/3 and told me that my items are somewhere in the Pacific Ocean not able to enter the ports. Went in to come up with a solution. They offered me the floor model with no discount. Figuring if I didn't agree I'd be waiting another 5 weeks, I agreed. There was a broken utility door on the washer. They told me they'd send the replacement one when they delivered. When arranging for delivery they told me I had to have my card refunded and then re-charge the items. I told them no way because then I'd lose the rebates from early July. Then they figured it out. I asked what else I needed? Did I need new hoses? No. New power cord for the dryer? Yes. We take delivery. They wouldn't install because we needed new hoses. Called manager. Sent someone else out with the hoses. The utility door they sent as a replacement doesn't fit in the compartment for the door. They pushed the washer and dryer (stacked) so close to the wall I can't open the detergent compartment. Never have I encountered people who take so little pride in what they do-- from start to finish. I will never purchase appliances from Lowe's in Torrington again. Never. read more

The designers are great, but install & contractor experience has been terrible. This review is just pertaining to the install/contractor portion. We have been happy with the designers. I always enjoy the in-store experience as well, helpful staff & great product selection. Pertaining to Lowes Install & contractors: I used the Lowes contractors/install team instead of my own contractor. I had a small bathroom renovated, it was started a few days late (early December), and the deadline was December 15. The project was completed a FULL MONTH LATE, which is just ridiculous for a small bathroom renovation. The contractors walked in and out with dirty boots and did not protect the floors or carpets. (Every contractor that has worked in my home in the past has put down plastic to protect the floors.) The contractors threw out used grout & rags on the ground outside my front door - and left it. I could not believe my eyes (thank god for cell phone cameras!) I was told in mid-December that all that we needed to do was get our painter in to paint - and then they would hang the robe hooks & toilet paper holder. When I arrived at the house so many things were not done. The garage was full of old items (toilet!) and things that were not installed. I have had to micro-manage this entire process, and it was done a full month past the deadline, (which is absurd for a small bathroom renovation. ) The heated floors are not working - and a new thermostat had to be ordered - this problem was not even discovered by the contractor until the very end of December, 2 weeks past the deadline. I had a basic mirror installed over the sink - the first one was the wrong color (that is no the fault of the contractor - but clearly no one checked (zero quality control). A second mirror was sent - with a very damaged corner - which the contractor installed. Again nothing was said - no quality control - it was up to me to find the damage and go back to the Lowes team for them to order what will now be the THIRD mirror. Separate from the bathrooms I had the thermostats replaced, when I arrived at the house it was about 100 degrees (electric heat!) and the thermostat did not respond so I could not turn the heat down. When contacted, the contractor told the installs team it had nothing to do with the new thermostat he had put in. Talk about infuriating, are you kidding me? the room where he installed the new thermostat was 100 degrees, and the thermostat was dark and not responding. (Note: my electric bill was overm $1,000 last month because he left the heat on full blast for a week before I arrived at the house to check on it!!!!). I had thought the point of using the Lowes installs team & contractors was that they would manage this process for me - that was not the case at all. There was no supervision or quality control what so ever. This process has been a nightmare. I recommend finding a true professional to do your home improvement work, and you won't find them here. read more

Tho only thing saving this from one star is that they had the trim piece I was looking for. There are a ton of employees for a store that has no one in it. The place was was messy in that stuff was in the aisles. Upon check out, no registers were open but the self check out. 5 people at customer service counter. While only two people ahead of us, took over 15 min to check out with all the problems with items not scanning etc. the girl on duty did a great job keeping up with all the problems even running out of register tape only to find two other non working resisters with the same issue. Then when assisted by a guy working, he gave her a hard time because she had forgotten to remove the left over plastic from the empty roll as she was frantically trying to assist us. I would never go back here and was only here because in the area. Managment should prioritize what is important to offer better customer service and efficiency for the consumer . Sorry to rant but the experience was ridiculous. read more

Well, once again I have to give this store a bad review. While they are competent and do have much better products then the leading big box competitor in Torrington, their ability to handle customer complaints stinks. they think calling you ONCE to respond to a complaint and leaving a message on the answering machine constitutes answering a complaint or forwarding the complaint to the manufacturer's rep and having the rep call ONCE and not even leave a number to call back resolves a complaint. We bought Sherman williams paint there based on the recommendation of architects. While the gray paint was fabulous, the beige paint to be honest, was crap. Whatever Sherman Willams uses to tint the paint does not work. The tints going into make up the color do not mix and when painting, the colors do not dry evenly and the paint does not dry in the time stated on the cans. It sometimes took 2 or 3 days to dry before another coat could be applied. DO NOT BUY SHERMAN WILLIAMS PAINT AND ESPECIALLY DO NOT BUY IT AT LOWES !! If you want Sherman williams pain go to the sherman williams store. While the sales clerk in the paint department at was great and asked us how we liked the paint after noticing we were coming back to get more and took our complaint about the problems, once it got passed on the sales rep to Lowes, nothing further was done other than the one call to my husband's cell phone which he couldn't answer because he was on the ladder painting!. read more

WARNING!!! Be careful when having any flooring done by Lowes! They sent East Coast flooring to my home to measure. We wanted tile and wood floors. The man came in put his level down on floor and told me floors were uneven and we couldn't have tile or wood. So we had linoleum and carpet installed. 5 years later I've now had two contractors to my home. (Not with lowes) and they both told me there is nothing wrong with our floors. We are now having the tile in kitchen and 5 inch wide wood boards installed. We wasted $4,000 with Lowes for something we didn't want. I have spoke to the floor supervisor @ lowes. Got nowhere. I also contacted their headquarters in North Carolina. Got a apology. That doesn't help with the $4,000 we lost. You should get another opinion if they tell you, you can't have the type of flooring you want. I will NEVER use lowes for any type of large purchases again! Also their carpet installed started to ripple in less than two years. read more

Delivery people are rude and refuse to take old washer, even though we paid to have it removed.

A clerk came to assist us almost as soon as we entered the store and went out of his way to help. But what really impressed us was the delivery. They said they'd deliver the refrigerator between 8 and 10 and then they actually delivered it at 8am!! :) So unlike the cable and phone guys who say they will arrive between 8 and 10 and then show up at 5:45.
