This is a well stocked and organized store located in the Canton Village Plaza. There were plenty of parking in front of the building. They had grills and outdoor patio furniture on their lawn since it's the spring season. When we walked in, we were immediately asked if we needed help with finding something. We were looking for exterior paint and the employee walked over and showed us the types of paint they had and was very informative. The prices were a little more than the big box stores but it is family owned, local, and has everything we needed for home repairs/upgrades. They have two locations, Canton and West Hartford. They offer paint recycling. If they don't have the product in stock, they will order it for you since they are affiliated with the Ace Hardware warehouse; the warehouse carries over 80,000 items. They offer many services in-house such as key cutting and propane fills. When you join the Ace Rewards, you can earn rewards with every purchase. Overall, a great asset for the community. read more

Although when I first moved to the area, I thought this place was very expensive. However, after joining the Rewards membership club with the discount, I found the price to be much more reasonable especially compared to the drive to either Home Depot or Lowe's. Recently we brought 2 small chainsaws to Larsons Ace Hardware in Canton, CT to sharpen chains and clean. We were told this would be done with an agreed upon price. At pick-up, we were told both saws were inoperable and chains were not installed. One screw was said to be stripped on first saw, second saw was said to be missing a screw. We disputed this since we had just used both saws after a recent windstorm. The cleaning was not done, despite our agreement when we dropped them off. Mr Larson Sr told us saws appeared 'to be picked up from a street corner' and 'weren't working when we dropped them off' which is false. Mr Larson and staff were rude, which shocked us due to our many years of loyally shopping here. We do not recommend going to Larson Ace Hardware. read more

It's a small store, so it's not *that* tough to know where everything is, but it's always nice when you can ask, and they can bring you to the item, not just point and walk away. I don't know what is going on with this place, but it used to be decent. A few months ago they sold us a plumbing part to fix our dishwasher and it was missing a piece. They had no idea. Then today we had a propane tank refilled, went to use it, and it was leaking gas! A perfectly good tank that we used for weeks now suddenly doesn't work the minute after they touched it. Probably overfilled it in a rush as it was near closing time. That is so dangerous! If you don't know what you are doing, don't handle gas tanks. Just seems like lately every time we go there it's a problem. And if you try to complain, they defend themselves. The customer is never right here. Buyer beware. read more

I had always been a fan of Lowes/Home Depot 'til I moved here. This place is, literally, ACE... no kidding. There are ALWAYS helpful guys/gals on the floor and they're ALWAYS available to help with where stuff is, knowledgeable about the best way to fix a problem and get the optimal solution. Their prices (I find) ARE competitive with the 'big box' guys and it's a LOT nicer environment to shop in too. I've NEVER been refused a refund/exchange if something's not right; they regularly send out good discount card/offers so, what's not to like.
