Of course they only had self checkout going and the code on the package of screws wasn't working. 20 mins later after an employee finally came over I left. She couldn't figure it out either. Hired Lowe's to Install an HVAC heat pump and they sent Holbrook heating who did a poor and non code install which could have burned my house down and had to be replaced by a reputable company. Lowe's fix was to send an illegal gag order then do absolutely nothing. A BBB complaint was filed and Lowe's will never be used again. read more

We've always had good service at the Vestal Lowe's. They have parking for Veterans which is handy for my husband and they have a Veteran discount for which you initially have to sign up (can do this online), show proof of your military service, and thereafter it is in their computer--you just show proof of ID if asked. We mainly shop in the garden center and make occasional forays inside for things such as paint, etc. We've found the associates to be friendly and helpful for the most part. Some of the older associates are especially knowledgeable and helpful. I have never purchased a large appliance from this Lowe's, just small items. My husband has utilized the buy- online- pick- up- at-store feature which has always worked like a charm, sometimes conveniently having the item in lockers right at the entrance and sometimes going to the service desk in the front of the store to pick the item up. We've rented a carpet shampooer from Lowe's several times for a day or two to clean our wall-to-wall carpets and always had a good experience. I have no complaints about the Vestal Lowe's, but I'll admit that it is much closer to me than Home Depot and therefore I mainly default to this Lowe's for the convenience. read more

Large. That's what I first thought pulling up to the store. Seriously though, it really is a massive store from the outside but at least there was plenty of room to park. This is your standard Lowes with the usual selection of lights, washers, dryers, plumbing, paint and other tools and household DIY materials. Someone will come. Eventually. Maybe." After a while another red vested women appeared, with her mask below her nose. I gestured and tugged mine up a bit, to help her realize she should cover her nose. She did not, nor did she seem particularly interested in helping. I got fed up and told her she needed to fully cover her mouth and nose or there's no point in wearing a mask in the first place. There's a sign, right there on the entrance to Lowes, reminding customers masks are required. As they should be. But what good does that do if staff aren't complying? Was not at all impressed with the store in general. My interactions with staff left me ambivalent about whether I should give this particular Lowes a visit some other day. Eventually. I'm at this location shopping for plants on the daily, and I have bought dozens and dozens of plants from this Vestal, NY location but, everytime, it's a hassle. Never again! Today, Dec 10, the hassle was the worst, and I was outright harassed. I was shoved-off to the side of checkout, and essentially called a potential thief, and potential liar, embarrassed beyond belief...all because I wanted to purchase 2 clearance plants. The rude, lady clerk said "too bad...you could be lying or stealing, so wait for a manager." Then she proceeded to check out half a dozen other people behind me instead, pushing me off to the side to make sure I'm not some thief, for twenty minutes! All because I wanted to purchase two, of the many, of the same species plants, that were clearly on the $5 Clearance table! I understand price checks but, being pushed off to the side, while it's loudly declared, in front of many other customers, that I could potentially be a liar or a thief: it is uncalled for, absurd, embarrassing. And it happened twice! Because, after twenty minutes of waiting, I go get the manager myself and he - Red Hair Guy - proceeds to declare, loudly, that, "they have to do a price check, because I could be a liar about the plants having been on the clearance table." What the...?! So rude! Who has to wait near twenty minutes for a price check?! And what kind of customer service is that, that they can say I may be a liar and a thief...in front of a line of other customers?! Those two, half-dead plants certainly were on the clearance table, along with many multiples of their same genus/species. A timely, courteous price check, it would have had shown all of this! And then...when all was said and done they hemmed and hawed, then just arbitrarily decided, loudly, to "just give them to him for 5, each." All this, rather than actually going to ultimately do the price check! Which made me again look even worse, and as if I we're just demanding that price all along. So insulting! I, of course, just walked out at that point, never to return. I've never been so embarrassed or treated so poorly. I shop there everyday! Check your cameras...it's me, the same exact guy in the garden center, every single day! Never again. This never happens at the other Loews location. The OTHER Broome County location, the Front Street Loews, it is way nicer, way better, and they also don't put dead plants on clearance, and they have a clean garden center; unlike the crispy, rotted Vestal Loews garden center location, with their rude customer service. When talent leaves its do to poor management and it shows. 2 weeks to get my refund squared away. This is something that takes 15 minutes to do. Unprofessional on how the associates answer the phone. I left several messages to have a manager in appliances to call me back. Whether she received them or not. Not a single phone call was returned. ASMs don't have a clue on how the warranty process works. I'm told I'm getting a refund in the mail and the next I have to come in and purchase my new appliance and when they get the old one I will be refunded. There use to be some good staffing here. I can't begin to tell you how disappointed I am with this store. I ordered deck furniture from the Lowe's website and selected a delivery date. Delivery day rolls around and no one called me in advance to confirm my delivery date or time. I had to call the store who informed me that I was not scheduled to receive a delivery. I then called the 800 number for customer service who informed me that a part was missing from my order and that we had to reschedule the delivery. Fast forward two weeks later, I received a notification that delivery would occur between 8am and noon. Later that morning I received a call from Aaron from Vestal Lowe's asking if I received my delivery because my furniture was no where to be found. Are you kidding me? How does a store lose two chairs, a two seater and a table?! I called customer service who informed me that my furniture was delivered to Vestal Lowe's on July 26th. I called Vestal Lowe's and got nowhere with either Aaron or the assistant manager. Incidentally, good luck trying to reach anyone on the phone at that store. Here we are the next morning and Aaron called and left a voicemail saying that he found my furniture! After calling the store for 40 minutes without reaching anyone because no one picks up the phone, I finally tracked down an assistant manager then Aaron . He wasn't too happy that I gave him a hard time because I wanted to know how it got lost in the first place and how it magically reappeared overnight. Needless to say I still have to wait two weeks for delivery since it's going to my other house and I am only there twice a month. Vestal Lowe's has employees who don't give a damn and have a lackadaisical attitude about the customer. Terrible customer service, called them on the phone and got hung up on multiple times. We had bough a washer and dryer two weeks ago got told it would take three days to be installed, it never showed up and when we called they said tomorrow it'll be there it never came. Now the laundry schedule is messed up and communication could've helped avoid the whole situation. We came into the store and the employee says why didn't you cancel over the phone... because we were hung up on. Now we have canceled our order and the reimbursement will take 2-3 weeks ridiculous we paid on the spot but need to wait such a long time for a company as big as lowes to give us our money back. Came in for some returns. I watched the CS people walking around, talking to others, doing extraneous things while a line was forming. Waited at least 15-20 minutes before I was able to make a return as I was next in line. The young woman at the counter was extremely unprofessional and apparently projecting from her negative day or regretful life. No smile or thank you. Very stolid. I guess this reflects the overall respect and customer service expected these days from big box stores - the home improvement are the worse in this category. Wow, after many years I have finally had enough. Managers must be complete idiots. How hard is it to have enough cashiers or have people trained within store that can be called up to help. Last 20 visits (2018) lines are long and brutal. 6, 8 10 people backed up with carts of lumber! Twice I left $500 or more worth of product because would have taken half hour to get checked out. Most employees who work in specialty area have no clue about product to advise and help. All of this is a reflection on management team. They should all be terminated. Terrible. Their customer service is not to be desired, in fact it's NON EXISTENT. Came here to get new locks, have them all keyed the same, get an estimate for cabinets, and purchase a rug. They told me they could not rekey the locks to be the same, but Binghamton could. Then we headed to the rug department where we pushed the button for assistance. We waited about 5-10 minutes and pushed the button again. Another woman came over and was waiting as well. After another 10 minutes she pushed the button and STILL no one came. We finally heard an announcement over the loud speaker (from someone in the store) telling someone to come to the rug department. No one ever came. So we walked away from that section, as did the other woman waiting. When speaking to management about the terrible experience, the manager was rude and unhelpful. This is the worst Lowe's around. If I'm in the Vestal area, I will be shopping at Home Depot instead. They take care of their customers. read more

Emily answered my call since the department I purchased it from did not answer. Explained the problem to Emily and told her what part I needed replaced. She took my information and said she would call back in a little while. EMILY from customer service called me back in 5 minutes,saying she had the part and read the model number back to me. What a pleasant surprise! I went to Emily's store with defective part, and it matched the new one accept this one worked. Emily was so helpful. I have been around for over sixty five years and I have seen customer service decline over the years. Emily was a bright light ,she made my day. The persons working in lighting and paint were very helpful, but out of stock. Went to customer service and had the worst service ever. I wanted to have the product ordered and sent to my home. The girl didn't know how to do that. Asked her co worker for help. They talked to each other and the co worker went back to her register. The woman helping me called the next customer up to help her ignoring the 6 foot rule they keep announcing over the speakers every 5 minutes and not letting me know whats going on with my order. I said "oh, I guess we're done here?" And she said the other person was now helping me. How was I supposed to know that? So the original employee throws her hands up and says "I'm done!" And walks away. Really??? The second employee is still on the phone and no communication from her as to what she is doing or if I'm supposed to wait or what? This store like any other one and is not perfect. However, they have satisfied all my home needs. The employees on the floor are most helpful and approach me before I seek them out for assistance. I must give a big 5 Star to Matt. During the last holiday weekend when my new stove arrived dented, and left on the delivery truck, it was Matt H who stepped up and saved the weekend. While the appliance manager wanted me to waited until the damaged stove was returned that evening before anyone could do anything. Mind you, there were six of the same Samsung stoves in stock at the time. Having been greatly assisted by Matt months prior, I visited the store in person that same day in hopes that he was there. and yes..Matt was there and problem solved. My new stove was in my home that same evening. His professionalism, knowledge of products and his caring approach and efforts to excellent customer service is an asset to Lowe's store and should be overseeing the entire operation in my opinion. read more

We ordered some supplies to construct a chicken coop on 7/19 and it was scheduled to be delivered on the 30th. We waited all day and it never arrived. Today 5 days later we still don't know when or even if its coming. The order status on all the items says "ready for delivery" but apparently not really. I've been through their phone tree so many times I can recite it. When the "customer care" person occasionally picks up he doesn't actually seem to care. Occasionally he transfers me to delivery where I languish on hold for eternity. I've wasted hours trying to talk to someone about this but on a good note I've binged the entire second season of "Umbrella Academy". I eventually assume no one is actually planning on picking up the phone and hang up and start over. Twice someone actually did pick up and say they were going to look into this and call me back but they never called back. I realize the hard working folks at Lowes probably have a lot on their plates and are struggling. I understand things are tough right now but I'm panicking because the chickens arrive today and apparently thanks to Lowes they will be house chickens. read more

They plopped a dishwasher in the middle of my floor and left. They don't answer the phone and you have to show up in person to even talk to anyone. They even said it was on the truck for delivery, twice. Go to your local mower shop you'll get better service and they may actually care. Lowe's doesn't care. We attempted to use the Lowe's customer care. This is just emails back and forth with no problem solving. If someone works at this store and cares about customer service at all I haven't met them. Absolutely horrible here! This past Friday my father purchased an Agri-Fab 26 Bushel leaf vacuum, little under $1200. There was an old unit outside -rusted in all the corners and worn from the weather., sitting outside for over a year. We made it very clear that we did not want that one. The guy assured us that it would not be that one. Same guy checking us out said they had a few out back and for a $10 fee it would be assembled and we would receive a call on Monday or Tuesday to pick it up. We never got the call. I called Tuesday around 5pm and after a long wait on the phone, finally was told they had it all assembled and it was ready for pick up. I let them know we were coming to get it later. Arrived at 7:30pm, no one could find it, we waited and waited... the guys outback called the customer service desk 3 times trying to figure it out...I explained it and then we walked someone from customer service outside to show them the old one and what that looked like so they could tell the person out back. Finally, that customer service rep went out back to help and still no luck. Waited more with no answer....Still, no leaf vacuum found. 45 minutes later... we were told they only had two units in, the one outside and a damaged one with missing parts out back. The head manager offers us a 10% discount off the unit out front. We said that was ridiculous and wanted them to find another unit in the district. No luck. I asked to speak to a manager three times. Finally, at 8:30pm a manager that was out back called up front to talk to me. She was rude and hardly apologetic. I explained what happened and she said the best she could do was 15%. She acted as though it was our fault for believing the sales associate and that it wasn't their fault at all for the mix up. Over an hour wasted to find out there were zero in the district and asked for a refund. At first they only wanted to give us store credit but finally allowed a full refund. The customer service lady -Kimmy was nice and tried to help but for the store as a whole...They are definitely unreliable, rude, and unorganized! read more

I'm going to start by saying this is a PRELIMINARY review that may be altered, depending how this current situation pans out. We special ordered three new custom doors for our home sometime in mid to late November, and later - when the doors had arrived at Lowe's - we scheduled the delivery: all three doors to be delivered at one time in early December. We timed it to coincide with warmer than usual weather, ideal for replacing exterior doors. On the day of delivery, we were told the truck would be at our home at 5:30 p.m. Lo and behold, the truck showed up at 1:30 p.m. It just so happened by chance that my wife was home on her lunch break. Otherwise, it's likely we'd have had to reschedule the delivery. So, instead of three doors being on the truck, there were two. The guys explained one of the doors had gotten broken and they had to order a replacement. These are custom doors that take weeks to manufacture and deliver. So much for installation coinciding with the warm weather. We took delivery of the two doors. Weeks go by. Not ONE peep from Lowe's to say - oh, I don't know: something along the lines of "we heard there was a problem with the delivery of one of your doors...we're very sorry and we want to keep you apprised on the replacement door and make sure you're completely satisfied, valued customer..." Nope. Crickets. I had to contact the store (two days in a row since the message I left to complain about customer service did not get returned the first day) to get a handle on the delivery issue and the status of the replacement. All the folks I've spoken with since December 18 have been polite and professional and have spoken in general terms of coming up with some sort of "remedy" to compensate us for our inconvenience. We shall see. I should note, this is not the first time we've had an issue with Lowe's delivery. A couple of years ago, we ordered a new washing machine and set the delivery for a two hour window on a specific morning. I took half a day off work to be there for the delivery, and ended up having to burn an entire day off because the truck never got to our house until mid-afternoon. read more
