They don't answer the phone. They pick up and put you on hold. I tried calling this store for two days and still havent gotten anyone. This happened yesterday 1/31/24 and today 2/1/24 at 3:51 pm. So whoever on the phones don't want to be there and is hurting your business. I had a simple question yet no one picked up! This is ridiculous. I've called several times and it rings for about 6-7 minutes then you get out on hold for another 10. They pick up and put you back on hold then hang up! This is the 2nd time this has happened and the other time I got two ppl who didn't know anything. What if I was calling for an emergency for another employee or someone from corporate? I'm not a fan of this Lowe's. We came in to exchange a big item we purchased (the shop vac stopped working within the 30 day period). We pulled into the loading area and I waited in the car while bae exchanged it and was supposed to bring back a new one. The security person came by and told me I had to move and just walked away while I was explaining while I was staying in the loading area. I moved the car but was pretty annoyed with the whole situation. Also to make matters worse they didn't have any more shop vacs... I guess it worked out in that it didn't end up mattering that I moved the car but it was unfortunate that they're not fully stocked. We found another Lowe's that had the shop vac and went there. I bought an entrance door 3 weeks ago. The estimate time for pick up was September 27th. I went to the store on September 30th since nobody call me or email me regarding my order. I was there in customer service for 30 minutes and nobody could find my order. Finally somebody told me my door was not in the store yet. I went to the lumber and doors area just to check with the person I got the order and he told me they had 5 doors in stock. But I didn't bring my truck, so my husband went back after work to pick up, he was there for 1 hour !!! nobody knew about the order, nobody was able to find the door, its a joke !! Wish I could give 0 stars if that was an option. I am SO beyond frustrated at Lowe's. I ordered a ceiling fan nearly 2 months ago, and purchased Lowe's installation with it. First 2 people were no shows, and the 3rd person installed it but the fan wasn't working. I called Lowe's to have them send a replacement fan which they said they did, but it never came. I followed up the next week and they said no replacement was ever ordered, so that person ordered one. Again, no fan showed up. I called again and that person said AGAIN no replacement fan has been ordered.... this is absolutely unacceptable and at this point fraudulent that they charged me for a product and service nearly 2 months ago that has yet to be delivered/completed, and they refuse to order me a replacement! Every time I speak to them, they are unhelpful, monotone, unapologetic, and have 0 urgency. Every time I've had someone come for this fan I have to take off work and move a ton of furniture. It's extremely inconvenient and all I'm asking for is a working fan to be installed that I ALREADY paid for. Purchased a refrigerator from Lowe's before Christmas. It took nine days to arrive, and was so damaged I had to refuse delivery. Placed another order for a different model which, according to the website, was in stock at a nearby store and would be delivered in two days. Turns out that fridge was a floor model and not for sale and delivery of a fridge from the distribution center would not be for another week and a half. And of course no guarantee of its condition on arrival. Lowe's is misleading their customers with false delivery information on their website and damaging their purchases with shoddy handling. Customer service agents are nice but ultimately unhelpful. If my local mom & pop appliance store can get the same fridge on a decent timeline, I'd pay a little extra for some actual customer service. read more

This store will test your limits. When you call, be prepared to let it dial for at least 7 mins before someone picks you up. After they pick up, they'll misread their own systems and tell you conflicting information. Try calling again, they won't even pick up the phone. It was so frustrating that I drove to this store, filed two complaints with the regional office, and finally got a semi-satisfactory answer by the manager. My projects included a hardwood reflooring and purchase of 4 new appliances in the kitchen. Trust me, it's not worth the trouble shopping here. read more

Background: I had an online delivery coming today. The driver called me while I was at Lowes in Bowie (I noticed the connectors were not coming with it so I went to purchase them so they could install) The delivery guy said He does not install. I have to disconnect the stove myself and set up an install. I immediately told him "Do Not Deliver it, Take it back" my delivery window passed, that is when I tried to call the store to find out what steps to take next. I called the store in DC to cancel a delivery on 1/23/2022 @ 1:50pm and the young lady that I spoke to was rude and hung up on me. I called back and asked for a manager and she hung up on me again! I tried calling back 8 times and as soon as she heard my voice she hung up and eventually stopped answering and just picked and hung up. This type of service is very disrespectful, it's not even service. This person should be TERMINATED IMMEDIATELY! I teach customer service this behavior reflects on the management and the company! I finally called Glenn Burnie Lowes and was provided Great Customer service on how the process works and what I would need to do once the item is rejected for delivery. Do not use Lowes for any big projects requiring installation. On June 21, I asked about purchasing and installing security doors at Store #3256 - on 2438 Market Street NE in Washington, DC. On June 23, a contractor came to my house to measure my doors. On June 26, I followed up with the associate at Store #3256 to learn about next steps, because I was told I would receive a follow-up in two days. I never received a reply. I followed up again in person the week of June 29. I was told that I would be receiving additional information shortly. On July 28, I was told that the installer had a conversation with me in which the installer shared that it would not be possible for me to get security doors installed because of the concrete surrounding my doors. I never had a conversation with the installer. In short, I paid $35 to get measurements on June 21, and on July 29, I was told Lowe's could not do the work. My suggestion: Look for an independent contractor for your big projects, many of them offer free estimates and more timely responses! Good luck out there my fellow yelpers. read more

When we came back to pay for the wood we found that a young man was taking off the cart and placing them back into inventory. I stopped the worker and asked why he was doing that and he said the people by the door told him we did not want them. We had to reselect the wood over again. Total waste of time! I told confronted the female worker and she pretended she did not realized what happened. I think she thought it was funny. We were pissed. I am not sure if we would come back to this Lowes again. It is like day and night going to Lowe's vs Home Depot. It is like the Nordstrom of home improvement stores. Great customer service, organized, and has all the home improvement things you can imagine. During the couple times I've visited, I was able to get in and out very quickly. Each employee was super knowledgeable and professional and directed me to the items I needed. When I went to Home Depot people would dismissively tell me the aisle and/or continue chatting up their colleagues. Lowe's is super bright and organized. It is not busy, and you're able to find some serene and quiet here while perusing the aisles of all your potential home improvement items. There hasn't been a line when I have gone, and the bathrooms in the front of the store are always clean. A very pleasant shopping experience. read more

This disaster of a store starts its journey to below mediocrity by: 1) A lot of products you don't need. 2) They don't have the one thing you want. 3) If they do have what you want, it is over-priced. 4) The majority of employees are utterly unhelpful and have zero motivation to be of assistance. I have been in this store at least once a week since buying a home in October 2018, so figured I should write a review. It is really hit or miss at this Lowe's. Let me start off with the positive by saying that the managers do try to have good customer service. Some of the associates (like the heavy set black woman with locs who works at the service desk) do not but I can use my military discount so find myself putting up with poor attitudes to save some money. I have had my orders messed up on a few occasions (I just renovated my house so spent a good $40,000 in materials here) but for the most part, I am satisfied with shopping here. read more

I've done business with different Lowe's stores for a few years, including this store, but my latest experience was a nightmare. I ordered a gas range and new hose connector to the gas outlet, and paid for them to take away my old range. I got a call from the delivery guys when it was ready for delivery, but they told me that they could not install it. I told them that I needed it installed (the option never showed on the website when I ordered it), because I couldn't do it myself. They called the store and told them this, and I got a call from customer service. I explained the issue and the CS rep understood and canceled the delivery. She promised that the store would call me to arrange for delivery and installation. That was two weeks ago, and I have not received a call. So, I have called the store multiple times and they simply will not answer. This morning I called and let it ring for over 10 minutes, thinking that it would irritate customer service enough to get off their butts and answer the phone. It did irritate someone, because he lifted the receiver and mumbled something to someone, and then hung up. I tried canceling online, but was not given that option. I called their national customer service number today to cancel the order, but the CS rep said that she couldn't do it on their end; I would have to call the local store. I explained that they will not answer and asked if she could connect me, but she said that they would have to call the same number, as they do not have proprietary lines to their stores. Crazy. I tried calling the store again, but after 10 minutes the line went dead. Apparently someone unplugged the phone to get rid of me! So, I called my credit card bank and explained the problem and asked to file a dispute. The CS rep was very helpful and asked me to hold for 3-5 minutes. She was obviously trying to call the store since she had already pulled up my account. Ha! She came back on the line after five minutes and said that I would get a temporary credit during the dispute process. I doubt that Lowe's will respond to their letter, as that store is run by some incompetent people. It's also interesting that Lowe's has not responded to any of the bad reviews posted here, as any good business would. They simply do not care. I'll never use Lowe's again. I stopped in to get a replacement light bulb for an embedded ceiling light. Wow, that was a challenge at Lowe's. The selection of bulbs at this particular store seemed small in comparison to the long rows I've seen in other stores. They even had shopping carts of bulbs and bulbs stacked on the floor. My wife and I spent a good 15 minutes walking the aisle looking for a replacement bulb, even asked the rep, and walked out without purchasing anything. I will never enter Lowes again. I purchased a fridge July 4th weekend in Laurel, MD thinking I was catching a sale. In August, I received a billing which I did not pay because I was not in receipt of the fridge. I was charged late fees. In September because I didn't want late fees added again, I made a payment and argued for the late fee from August to be reversed. In the meanwhile, Lowes was telling me the fridge is coming. First it was July 29th, then August 28th then September 28th. Yesterday, when I went in once again to check ( twice before I went into check and after waiting in a line at customer service, I was sent to appliance to wait in a line again, only to have the incompetent staff tell me there is no order and to go back to customer service) I was told they don't have the fridge. I had to cancel the order. I have missed out on Labor Day sales at other stores and now have to wait on Lowes to get back my money. The ethics of this whole situation is questionable. I should not have to pay for something I don't have. That's common sense. To jerk people around is also unacceptable. I WILL NEVER ENTER A LOWES again. Before the pandemic, this location was just so disappointing when it comes to customer service. It is always a hit or miss. It continues to remain the same. Between ordering items for pickup that are NEVER ready when you arrive--and having to wait an hour or more for an employee to retrieve it, to the lackluster customer service, this location needs a reboot. This will be the third time we have had to wait between and hour to an hour and a half for an item that they said was ready for pickup. How is something ready, but when you arrive, you have to wait an hour or more to receive it? Some of the employees are friendly and even ask you if you need assistance, without solicitation. Thank you for that. Please don't stop, you have no idea what a positive experience that is for someone. However, too many will walk by you, and look at you like they are angry with the world. Today, I walked by one employee and said hello, and he looked at me and said nothing. Almost looked mad that I dared to say hi! I am not sure what is up with the training for this particular location, but they should really seek out some training from the folks that train the Chick Fil A employees across the way. I frequent this Lowe's location out of convenience, but I have driven the extra miles, lately, to go to the New Carrollton location, where I find the employees are consistently helpful and friendly. After today, I think I am done with trying. I will skip this place and skip the funky attitudes and substandard service. I will add the extra time and miles for a better experience. read more

I usually shop at a local Ace hardware store, but because I am busy and want to save time and because Lowe's has a bigger selection, I was eager to try the online ordering & in-store pick up service that Lowe's offers. I have also stopped going to the local Home Depot as a secondary choice because the store is disorganized and the employees are extraordinarily rude. I have, up until this point, been very happy going to Lowe's as my second choice store; everything is usually nicely organized, it's easy to buy larger items and park in the convenient lot, and the people that work there have at least been polite although not nearly as helpful as the Ace. I went into this particular Lowes (on Market Street in Washington DC) to pick up an online order and the dedicated pickup area was closed. No problem - there's a sign on the door that says to proceed to the service desk. So I head in and meet an employee who we'll just call C--- to protect his own privacy. I had problems both with C---'s poor customer service attitude and the store pickup process. I indicated that I needed to pick up an order and attempted to hand over my military ID. My ID was disregarded and I was gruffly asked "internet?" and was then asked "do you have an order number?" I pulled out my phone, looked up the email and handed my phone to C--- since the email states: "bring your order number or this email". He then said "can you read it to me", which I did. He wrote the number down on a piece of paper, which he then took to another computer terminal. That alone doesn't seem like a very efficient process, but things just got worse. C--- spent a few moments on the computer and went to the online pickup area and brought my order out. The bag containing my order had my last name written on it in two places in huge block letters. C--- asked for my ID again. At this point, I was getting irritated and said "I already showed it to you but I'll be happy to show it to you again", which I then did. C--- stated "I need to see a real ID". I indicated multiple times that the card that I was holding was, in fact, a valid form of identification which he repeatedly denied. After repeated denials and me pointing to my name on the ID, which matched the huge block letters on the bag, and the fact that at the top of the ID are the words "United States Government", he gave in and handed me my order. I then asked if he had a supervisor and instead of getting the supervisor, he started arguing with me about my own attitude. I didn't have time to deal with that, so I left, fortunately with my order. The online pickup process, therefore, could be a lot better -- why do they need to enter a bunch of information into the computer when they can just check a name on an ID and look at the bag that has the name written in huge letters? Why do I need to educate a worker on what a valid ID is? Why should I have to deal with an employee who would rather argue with me than just do his job? I give the store 2 stars for the fact that it's clean, the parking is convenient, and there is a big selection. But as much as I'd like the convenience of the online order pickup option, if my experience today is what I could normally expect to encounter if I keep using this service, I'll be sticking to Ace as much as possible. read more

The items were in stock and I received notification estimating it would be ready that day as promised. 5 days later I am still waiting for email confirmation to pick up the order. They will not answer the phone, nor will Lowe's 800 customer service number. They will not respond to email or any other means of contacting them. They now seem to have moved my order to the Largo store with no notice to me, but the Largo store also won't pick up the phone. I wanted to support Lowe's because they are taking a stand on important social justice issues. Lowe's might have the worst customer service out of any business, a few weeks back we ordered a shed online, upon delivery we noticed they delivered the wrong item. We did not accept the delivery and contacted customer service where wait times were unbelievably long, only for them to say they would not ship us the correct item, instead they would process a refund in 14 BUSINESS DAYS. To make matters worse, we decide to buy a shed in store at the DC northeast location, it did not fit our space so we headed back to make a return. We find out someone had ALREADY made the return for cash (we paid with card), we spoke to the manager in disbelieve that someone could make a return WITHOUT THE PRODUCT. The manager looks up the return transaction and calls the cashier who "identifies" my mother as the cash recipient. Now convinced there is theft from within the store going on, we ask the manager "how someone could make the return without the product and If we had already received cash, why we would come back to return the product?" Both of which the manager had no answer to, finally we request she pulls up the security footage using the transaction number, of course the only person who has access to the security footage was not there. A security guard was suppose to contact us 4 days ago with a response to the issue, today was our third time going to the store, once again the security guard was not there and it seemed like he had not even been informed of the issue. The assistant manager Grant was the most helpful and the only one that seemed interested in this issue, Alesia the store manager showed complete disregard for theft in her store or she is protecting her staff. Likely this is our last time using Lowe's, this store in particular. read more

I've got $2500 worth of doorstops in my living room (new Tiny W/D) and awaiting a call back from a mgr at the store to find a $&%^* person to install them. They were dropped off 8 days ago, and sit functionless. The installation has been delayed six times now, and we've gotten corporate involved with loud voices and some cursing. The customer service at the store is NON EXISTENT and will drive you batty. I'm going to dispute some charges for this with the CC company because this is appalling. I want to buy in the District and support local employees if I can, but I will never buy from Lowe's again. If you're reading this, Lowe's, get it together. NOW. We had a new movers coupons for $20 off of $100 from online; the coupon did not have any exclusions listed. We were buying paint, and paint supplies. The coupon did not work because "there items excluded as part of the discount", we asked associate which items were excluded, his reply "I don't know" and proceeded to assist the other customers around. I hate to rate this store low as I love Lowes. This store us just woefully understaffed. I mean - horribly so. I tried to sign up for the military discount online. It didn't work. Told me to go to the store with my paper (DD214, etc). I go and wait in line at customer service for about 30 minutes on a Friday night around 7pm. (Not the busiest of times, right?) The customer service phone was ringing off the hook, unanswered. There were 2-3 people in the service area, one was a manager that had to come and go. Finally was seen, gave paperwork to the manager Donna, information was entered, should be all good. I tried using it right then in the store to test it and it didn't work. They assured me that it would work - just takes a day to sync or something. Took almost two hours of my time to do all of this to sign up. I tried to use it a couple weeks later on lowes.com. Still doesn't work. lowes.com/military still tells me to go into the store to verify it. I called the 1-800 number and was on the phone with them for 25 minutes. There is nothing that they can do. I tried calling the store. No answer. Called back. Answered, as to speak to Donna, was but on hold for 40 minutes with no answer. I called back, phone was answered and immediately hung up. That happened a few times. As in, they didn't want it ringing off the hook and didn't have time to take a call. I heard them answer (background noise) - it wasn't a phone system issue. I heard the receive get placed back on the hook. I called probably 4-5 times in a 90 minute window; another time I got through and was going to be put on hold but was disconnected. The last time I called, in the evening, hours later, Donna had already gone home. I was told Miguel or a manager with a name that starts with R I think would definitely call me back. This was 9/16, Saturday. I did cut them some slack since it was a Saturday (but again, the issue is understaffed, the workers seemed to be working hard, just not enough of them). I said that I'm trying to make a purchase using my discount. Explained all the ordeals I'd go through so far. I'd definitely get a call back. No call back. Nice new store, needs more staff if you want to have a good reputation. Waiting in a customer service line for 30 minutes shouldn't be the norm. Being on hold 40 minutes with no answer is unacceptable. Being promised a call back after leaving detailed notes, and not calling back is unacceptable. Seems like they spent on the money on the store, but not enough on the staff to run it. read more

This store is fairly new, and was nice when it first opened. Now it's just a mess. The shelves are never organized, items will be missing or in the wrong place. Good luck finding a piece of hardware or plumbing in the correct spot. They've mixed paint for me wrong before, which they now can't match because it isn't a color from the catalogue. There's almost never anybody around to help. The parking lot is full of trash everywhere. They can't even keep a supply of carts at the door, you have to go find one in the lot usually. The management is clearly not concerned with getting the place back in shape. It's the closest big box store to me, but I'll have to start driving further out to the suburbs when I need supplies for house projects. I really liked the store compared to their competitor when it opened, but it's just as bad now. What a dump. Most recently when I went for curbside pick up of a large item I ordered, the person who answered the phone they listed on the parking lot sign to have them bring out your stuff picked up the phone and set the receiver down while they talked to their coworker. They never picked back up. The door to the pick up office in front was locked. When I came inside to ask what I was supposed to do to get my stuff the customer service desk curtly told me that I needed to go to the back of the 8 person line and wait. I get that it's busy and lots of people are waiting, but then why have a curbside pick up service if nobody is going to be working it? I'll shop at a small local hardware store or drive to Virginia going forward. read more

I had a wonderful customer service experience with Dominique in flooring. As luck would have it, the tile I needed was all the way on the top shelf, so in addition to helping me get down 8 boxes, he also went through each one and counted every tile for me to make sure the right amount was there. Then, he helped me navigate the grout section. Once all of these things were in my cart, it was too heavy for me to push, so he pushed the cart to the register for me. But there's more... right after I checked out, my contractor texted to let me know he'd accidentally given me the wrong grout info, so Dominique patiently went back to get me the correct grout while I returned the other, and in the end helped me load everything into my car. I literally could not have completed this shopping trip without his help, and appreciate the stellar customer service! read more
