Nice location and pretty busy on this particular Saturday. We came to look for a faucet and BP found it very easily. The store is large, as is the parking lot, the staff is knowledgeable and eager to assist. I also liked how the store was organized. The signs and labels were all easy to read. Service: The service was horrible. Employees acting like they didn't want to be there and work. Employees acting as the customer was inconveniencing them. Did not have enough employees working to cover areas in the building to help with purchases. Selection: Needed to return a hot water heater and they would not hold until we got there. (Was only 1 available in the size certain one we needed) We had to exchange per the manufacturer and had return slip in hand. After over an hour on the phone being cut off or trying to get someone who knew what they needed to do we still had to take a chance. Turned into an all day affair. Very disappointing. Will definitely go to Home Depot whenever possible. read more

All the negative reviews about customer service is disturbing but I've only had to deal with employees twice in the 10 + years I've been coming here. Once when I bought my fence supplies and set up service to have it installed through them which I don't recommend. Buy the parts and find your own installer. The fence guy they used had to come out 3 times after it was put in to fix the main gate which kept breaking. The other was with buying a mower. Any other time I goggle my own answers and am in and out with the self checkout. Shelfs are always stocked and the store is clean for the most part, I mean it is a hardware store. They always have what you need and more than not they are cheaper than the orange hardware store. read more

Let me start with saying it is not about the York store but the company in general and would like to give it a zero-star review. At best, the customer service person was very nice and helped with the process of my return, so I gave it a 1-star. I ordered a fireplace that when received was damaged. I immediately refused delivery and sent it back. To my dismay, I reordered another fireplace months later hoping to have a better experience, but no! I am so freaking mad! This fireplace is damaged more than the first one and looks like it made from Styrofoam...so cheap looking I would be embarrassed for anyone to see it in my home. I will never purchase a product from Lowe's again. And not only that, but I also still have yet to be credited for the protection plan I purchased for the first one! I am sending photos of the damage to their email though I know I won't get a response that would satisfy me. Don't purchase from Lowes! I get better products from Walmart! read more

I checked in with an associate at 235, she lead me to a sweltering hot break room where I sat for another 25-30min and no one came to conduct the interview!! Quality of materials is poor at best. Zero help from staff while loading materials into cart and into vehicle. Stores so incredibly unorganized. Asked for help to locate materials needed the employee seemed bothered by me asking. Then he proceeded to watch me load my cart by myself. Then again no help came to assist while loading into my vehicle. If Walmart got into the lumber game they'd probably have a more consistent selection and assistance. Go somewhere else. read more

Terrible customer service. We have some critical deadlines at our project that caused us to have to work Saturdays. I placed an online order for a paint sprayer, so that my workers could pick it up, and take care of what they needed. My 2 Hispanic workers had the order confirmation and the item was already paid. They would not let them pickup the item, they would not talk to me on the phone, they would not give out their phone number to reach the service desk. They then cancelled the order and gave an excuse because it is an out of state business credit card??? My workers then had to front the product with their own money. I had to send them my personal money, and I will be awaiting reimbursement internally. Thank you Lowe's for wasting a couple hours of production on a Saturday with the other 6 crew members on site on standby; until, we had to resolve it ourselves. roughly $1200 waste man hours... I will be commuting out of my way to go to Home Depot rather than the convenient & close location of your store. read more

Been shopping here since they opened, but it continually goes downhill with the pinnacle of a horrendous customer experience happening today when they lied to me about a $3,600 lawn tractor being new despite it having 11 hours on the meter and one of their employees telling me it was returned. I crawled under it to find grass and leaves caked on the deck, the blades rusted and one of the blade gaskets spewing grease. When I confronted the manager on duty he just pulled the tag off it and walked away saying they wouldn't sell it because it was used. Not even an apology. Isn't that ironic, 5 minutes earlier they were going to sell it to me swearing it was brand new????????????? Beware! read more

Placed an order for curbside pickup. Got home and an item was missing. I tried to call the store and it just kept ringing so I called the corporate customer service number. They contacted the store and said that I could pick up the missing item and it would be behind the desk. I let them know I have an infant and that's why I was doing curbside instead of going in. Told I have to go into the store. Also explained I now had to make a 40 minute trip to get it and they offered $4.66 for compensation. Total order was $173. But over the past few months have spent thousands of dollars there and was planning on spending a lot more as we are renovating our entire house. I'm very disappointed in the level of customer service they have. I'll be going to Home Depot from now on, at least when they make a mistake they make it right. read more

I purchased a Whirlpool refrigerator from the Lowes store in York, Pennsylvania, 2018. Six months after purchase I started having ice maker problems. Fortunately, I purchased a 5-year protection plan and was able to have my ice maker repaired. Just recently, the ice maker broke again and for some reason, the service company from Maryland doesn't service the York, Pa area anymore. I am getting the run-around and am not happy about this at all. If possible, I would like to replace this refrigerator I have with one that works! read more

They should have a sign that say "BYOC" (bring your own cart) out front. Because there is never an available cart in the lumber dept. I personally like to find carts with orders on them. I'll off load them and claim them as my own. read more

When we need to do a home project we can always rely on Lowe's to have what we need. This week we priced a replacement patio door with some local window dealers...ummm, yea...can you say "sticker shocked"? Today we decided to give Lowe's a visit. Score! They had the door we wanted. The door, and install price, saved us over $1k!! The staff at this particular store were friendly and somewhat knowledgable vs. other Lowe's stores. FOLLOW UP: our new patio door was installed a few days ago. Awesome job! The two guys took great care in protecting our wood floor and deck during the install. They cleaned up their mess during and after the job. We had a hard rain last evening and no leaks!! Score! read more

The last several months have seen either a high turnover of qualified personnel with the newbies not really understanding of their departments or the store stock in general. They do not seem to have requisite knowledge of product usage or locations and don't know the names of items to look up in product locater software even thouh you tell them what its called. Being sent all over the store is fustrating enough but when you start at where the product is but the associate stocking there tells you to go elsewhere, it is a bit maddening. Also computor inventory stocking levels tells you to drive to this store and pick up today only to find out "sorry out of stock" when you get there seems to be on the rise. What is with the military discount at the self service kiosks that if you use your Lowes credit card you don't get the discount unless you interact with store personnel when ordering online its given automatically. read more

I am new in the area and Lowes is closest to me or I would've gone to Home Depot. Every time I've been in this store the customer service is horrible. I had to go to the customer service area on May 16 as I ordered something online and it was ready for pick up. I stood in line and waited. A young girl took me and I showed her my scan bar on my phone and she said I don't do Internet orders and pointed me to another register. She pointed to her left and said that's who takes Internet orders and I told her that person did not have anybody when I was waiting in line and she never motion for me to come over to get help. There was no sign that I could see that it was for Internet sales or online sales and as I walked over I finally saw it. The lady didn't greet me when I walked over and she start talking to other employees and then I interrupted her and then she proceeded to be rude to me as I interrupted her. She proceeded to check and see where my order was at least that's what I thought she was doing. She didn't address me again, called an employee over, showed them something, that employee walked off and she never said anything to me. So I just stood there waiting. I then asked her did you find my order and she said yes he went to go get it and I told her it would've been nice she told me that. I then went out to get my truck and park in the loading area. As I had been in shopping for a few other things I had already noticed that the same trucks that were in the loading area were still there. So I got in my truck I made a phone call to the store and complained and that's when the customers that were in front of me at in the loading area finally got some help. I then was watching the door to see if I could tell if my item was coming out. I saw a young man holding what looked like my order just standing by the exit doors. I got out of my truck and yelled my last name that's when he proceeded over to help me. This store needs to improve their customer service!! read more

Picked out,ordered,paid for fencing on June 3rd.Set up delivery,because delivery is backed up July 1st delivery day.We have workers come & tear out & haul away old fence on June 29th & 30th.Mid day on June 30th less then 24hrs of delivery they call cancel delivery.Now I have to give a 24 hr notice to the installers.Our product is not in stock.Now on June 3rd when we were there,they had piles & piles of fence & post. No idea when it'll be back in stock.I call today,they have us set for delivery on JULY 27TH,almost 2 mo.after buying fence.I asked the Delivery Supervisor why so long when I knew they had the fence since July 8th,because I called corporate customer service that day.He says that's as soon as they can come.I ask why not push someone else a day or 2 and get my delivery to me,his response better to piss off 1 person then 2.A SUPERVISOR!!!!This was after he hung up on me the first time I called. Lowes needs to understand their mess ups cause a disturbance in peoples lives.Our children have limit area to play now,dogs are tied up & because no fence can't even put up a small 2 ring pool because borough doesn't allow any size pool without fencing! Trying to order shower stall. Have been trying since April. The person that orders told our contractor two weeks after he ordered that it was discontinued. Second time - she couldn't find what we wanted - despite getting the info from the Lowe's website. Third time - we sent her the numbers from their website. Now she wants screenshots of what we want. Not once did she contact our contractor. He contacted her to see about the continued delay. There will not be a fourth time. Why should we continue to do her job?? This is also the same person that ordered the wrong bathtub for our first bathroom. She was totally uncaring when contractor let her know it was wrong and she inconvenienced the contractor, us, and the plumber. We eventually ordered from Home Depot. I bought three 4 gallon tubs of the NEW Deck Restore at the Lowes East York store, once I put down the first coat on my deck I realized the color I purchased was much lighter then the color patch I was shown, I hated the color (it looked pink). I called out to the Lowes on East Market Street and was told by the individual in the paint department they could darken what I had purchased and I should bring the containers out and they would help me. I did what they said and one salesperson tried to help but she was leaving for the day and I was turned over to another lady. She treated me as though I was a contemptible piece of gutter scum on the bottom of her shoe and she got rid of me as fast as she could without trying to help. I contacted Lowes through their internet site and I received a response saying they would inform top management at their East York store and they would be contacting me. That was three weeks ago with no contact, I guess they just don't care. By the way I had only purchased about $1,000 worth of products during the previous three weeks before the incident. read more

My in-laws purchased a dryer for us on 6/30. We were told that it would be delivered in 3-5 days. After about a week we called Lowes and after an hour of phone calls and being transferred several times we were told that it wouldn't be delivered and installed until the 13th. This was an inconvenience because we were expecting to have a dryer to do laundry. We waited until the 13th in which they gave us a 2pm to 4pm window for installation and they came around 1:15pm. Some wouldn't mind an earlier time but we plan our work day around installation. The installers were with Mark's Electric out of York. They came inside and said they couldn't install our dryer with our existing gas and electric hookup. They also said that because they couldn't install it that day that they had to take the dryer with them. This was odd but at this point we understood why it couldn't be installed. Lowe's called a few times later that day asking if the installers had been out. We continued to explain each time to a different person that it could not be installed and that we would have our gas and electric run properly the following day. They also called and said that they needed to charge us an additional $35. When I asked what that was for the women I spoke with said she was unsure and had to check. The answer we got was that it was a "change in the order". We refused to pay that. Why should I have to pay anything extra when there were no changes, and nothing was installed? We had the gas and electric fixed on the 14th. We went back to Lowe's later that day to "return" the labor and installation portion of our bill since we no longer needed this. This wasn't an issue and was taken care of quickly. Then we were told that the dryer was returned and refunded. We did not ask for the dryer to be refunded. Since it was a gift to us and purchased on a credit card that wasn't ours, the money went back onto that card. Lowe's explained to us that the dryer was brought back with no explanation as to why it wasn't installed. That is a serious communication issue between Lowe's and their third party contractor. We signed to return the $155.00 in labor but didn't sign to return the dryer, so why did they do so without our permission? There were three different women that worked customer service on the 14th and all of them were helpful. Megan was understanding and first helped us. Kayla the manager was also very helpful. We had to re-purchase the dryer and it was luckily on sale. Kayla also offered to give us an additional 10% off the sales price for our troubles. She said that someone would call between 6am and 8am on the 16th and they did. We confirmed delivery between 11am and 1pm. Of course they came at 10:20am. This just re-sparked the whole negative experience again. Why would Lowes confirm between 11am and 1pm if they are going to come 40 minutes early? I was busy at 10:20 and rushed to answer the door as they were walking back to the truck. When I asked them about them coming early they stated that they were going to change my delivery time. They also boasted to each other that they were making great time. All they would have had to do was call and say "Hey, we're running early, can we stop by around 10:20?" That would have been perfectly fine. Overall, I will never buy another appliance from Lowe's again. I know this isn't an isolated issue because one of the women we spoke with at Lowe's through this entire situation stated that "It's a good store but we always have issues with appliances". read more

Alright I admit, I am not a 'tool' guy, but I like to do small projects. For instance I am going to convert my cooler into a mash tun for brewing - so I needed hose clamps, tubing and a stainless steel braid for faucets and toilets. I found all of these things. I cam back after I received my hop rhizomes in the mail from freshops - I picked up some eyelet screws and wire and some manure and potting soil to plant them with. I also bought some light bublds and seed planters for the herbs and tomatoes I am growing on the deck. I was able to find the stuff I needed easily and get a little distracted in the meantime too with display saws and boards to cut on. I picked up a cheap bucket to soak equipment in sanitizer for brewing also. My wife and I picked up some stuff to get the stains out of the white carpet from doggie accidents that works called krud kutter. I did have to go back to get the item # off one of the new items I bought for the hop trellis, but overall I have received good service and the prices are decent - so pretty A ok if I don't say so myself. I would rather shop here than the other store base on convenience of location and layout of the store, but that's just me. read more

My husband and I went to this Lowes and purchased a 7.0 cubic freezer for $188. It was out of stock so we paid and they said they would hold one when it came in on the next truck. The next delivery came and we went back to the store only to find they had sold all the freezers. Lowe's made things right for us though. They offered us the floor model or an upgrade to a 9.0 cubic freezer from a better manufacturer. We took the upgrade, but didn't have a way to transport the larger freezer. They let us use their rental truck for free. In a time of poor customer service, we were very impressed with everything they did. read more

this lowe's has all of your standard home repair stuff...nothing really wrong with it per se. however, i think that the customer service here is a bit subpar. i had two encouncters with sales associates here. one could hardly be bothered to answer my question about where to find something. at other places i've been to (ahem, home depot) they will actually walk you to the item that you are looking for and then proceed to talk with you about it in detail. not at the west york lowe's! when i went to check out at about 5 pm on a saturday evening, there were 3-4 people backed up in each of the regular cashier lines. in order to avoid a delay i tried the self-checkout line and failed miserably. i could not get past the "put your item in the bag prompt" as it wasn't registering that i actually did put it in there! the cashier who was supervising this area totally ignored the problem, did not come over, even after i made eye contact with her. frustrated, i gave up, took the stuff out of that bag and went over to stand in line for about 5 minutes. so.....this is not my first choice for a hardware store. i think there are better options out there, unfortunately this one is in a convenient location! read more

It would be nice to go into just one home improvement store and have knowledgeable employees. I needed rubber cement- first off they had no idea what i was talking about. One girl thought it was a masonry item and sent me to the end of the store. The second was trying to take me to the painting isle (fine they have a lot of glue there). I was trying to ask him why would it be there since it is typically used in plumbing, the boy was very confused. Secondly they swore up and down that Contact Cement is the same as rubber cement. No- it is not. I brought it home and tried it out regardless. The chemical compound maybe similar but if you are trying to use it on say Rubber or PVC it does not have the same effect..... read more

Was having a difficult time ordering a washer and dryer on line for a gift from across the state. Decided to call the store and talked to Bill in appliances and found out I could order them over the phone. Was able to take of everything quickly. Bill and Jessica (in customer service) were very accommodating and now my son and his family will have their washer and dryer delivered shortly after they move into their new home! Excellent!
