Jess at front end helped with the floral as what I wanted would not come in on time. She made a phone call and Farmboy in Pickering shipped the flowers to the Whitby store. wow. Bulk Barn puts every bulk situation in the United States to shame! Bulk Barn, its super clean stores and huge selection of products, is yet another reason to envy Canada. On my last visit I just couldn't believe my eyes as I cruised up and down the aisles. From sugars, spices and snacks like peanut butter cup popcorn and spicy plantain chips to chickpea flour, ground chia seeds and pea protein powder this place has everything! And unlike most every bulk selection I've spied, there's no cracked greenwheat freekeh mixed in with the organic kamut flakes, or black beluga lentils crunching, annoyingly, underfoot. The pizza was already cold but that wasn't a big deal. It was dry and hard. It tasted like it was a few days old. I'm not sure what happened. I've had their pizzas and they've been good but I would stay clear of the slices. They must make them when they start making pizzas and leave them all day. This place blew off all my "food truck place = no delicacy/boring" equation. We visited: # Masala Bar (for Pani Puri & Samosa Chaat) # Pierogie Bros (for Perogiechos) # Lowlands (for organic, stone baked vegetable sourdough pizza) # Yorkilicious (for Sunday dinner Yorkshire pudding) ALL were delicious. My highlight is Masala Bar's Samosa Chaat. It is basically a salad mixed with chopped veggie samosa with fresh veggies, herbs and chickpeas, sprinkled with coriander and tamarind pastes. Mix it up - it is a complete meal. Yorkilicious was another mind-blowing one, HUGE pudding with tasty mashed potato, gravy and generous amount of roasted beef. I am addicted. Lowlands' pizza's presentation (cooking in their wood fire oven in front of customers) is also impressive and entertaining, yes, I love their sourdough pizza. They use freshly grown vegetables that are placed beside the oven. I have been to "food truck festivals" in Durham region before but my experiences have been quite negative. Usually I was disappointed, as most trucks were offering food only to attract those who look for quick comfort food like mediocre pizza, burgers, hot dogs, fries or mac & cheese. But Oshawa Food Truck Corral is offering the whole different/exciting/diverse experience. Will come back before it closes before winter!
