NASNI- Naval Air Station North Island. Lowry Base theater. Military ID is required to go on base. FREE showings, most of the times the movies are still showing at the theaters out in town. Large popcorn & drink for only $5.50. Good deals here. Seats are old style. Place can get a little hot. But you can't beat FREE. :) Super nice & friendly staff. Manny the manager is a cool dude. He has great customer service. We will be coming here more often. Thank you! Salute.

If you know a Military service member down in the San Diego area, you must try and get them to take you on base, more specifically to the Naval Air Station North Island (NASNI) in Coronado, CA. This is because you can watch FREE new release movies (yes, government sponsored) at the 1600 seat, near IMAX sized, Klipsch audio surround sound "Lowry Theater", which occupies a former quanza hut. This is so cool, words cannot even describe, let me tell you. So lucky me has seen many-a-movie at the Lowry Theater, where even the buttered popcorn is fantastic. Audio visual is superb, making me think that High Def is standard protocol for the Military and anything less just isn't sat. Yes, you may begrudgingly offer up that these are "our tax dollars at work", but let me tell you that THAT is a good thing here. Providing a cool theater is a small price to pay for these Military service members doing what they do, so let's just call it that. Overall, if the opportunity presents itself, take every chance you can get to take a seat at the Lowry Theater. Oh, and remember to mind your P's and Q's. In lieu of annoying previews, the Lowry substitutes a showstopping AV presentation of "The National Anthem", and movie theater viewers ALL STAND AND RISE. Seriously, how can you NOT love the idea of that? Yes, this is an easy 5 stars.

My family loves coming here if we see that they're showing a movie we haven't watched yet plus it's free.....so why not! Duh The food is ok, just like any theater that sells hot dogs and nachos = not all that great. The seats are extremely uncomfortable, my cousins and I always fidget around because our bottoms feel sore throughout the showing haha other than that, this place is ok. Good for military families and groups!

Hey ya know what. Pretty decent place . Free movies on the regular hooyah. Sometimes get to check out flicks before they come out in theatres for real so I can dig it .

You can see the theater has aged, and well loved. Pricing for concessions and tickets were not bad at all even with the fees. I also heard the staff explaining how busy it can get during their 50% off ticket and popcorn days, which is a deal if you don't mind the crowds. Seats have definitely seen better days, but I do like how high the backing is and for someone short like me, there were no issues of being able to see the screen even if someone tall was in front of me.

Most importantly, the air conditioning was working really well and the theater was clean. It was easy to purchase tickets online although the $3 convenience fee was a bummer. All staff members I interacted with were friendly. The concessions seemed reasonably priced as well & they have happy hour every day. I didn't try anything though & just brought my water bottle inside. We parked in the free underground lot & it was easy to walk over to the cinema. There were plenty of dated yet functional bathrooms inside. This is a good movie theater to see your next film. Peace.

We chose to watch it here because it's a 3 hr movie and the chairs fully recline, so it was more comfortable. The service was good, however the chairs need some repair because my call button didn't work. So I initially thought that the service was taking a long time. My husband's button worked and they came quickly after we pressed his. They have a decent menu, but I wish that they had some more candy options. My favorite is Junior Mints and it's not on the menu, sadly. I like coming here on occasion but they get 4 stars because they could really use some upgrades or refurbishing. Some bigger screens would be a nice upgrade too.

On my last two visits within the same month, the AC was not working properly. During The Odyssey, I sat through nearly three hours as the theater continued to get warmer. With the humidity we've been experiencing in San Diego, it was extremely uncomfortable. The same issue occurred during a movie I saw three weeks earlier, and the visit before that as well. At this point, I'm not sure if the AC is actually broken or if Cinepolis is simply not prioritizing the repair. If you're planning to see a movie during these hot summer months, I'd recommend calling ahead to confirm the AC is working in your theater. And don't be fooled by the freezing lobby--the individual theaters can be a completely different story.

While there's not shortage of parking, the spaces are very small and can be a tight squeeze. Theater lobby was clean, but it was a huge menu option for drinks and food available at the concession stand. It took us a few minutes to decide what we wanted. My husband got the burger and I got the loaded potato fries. We did not need both of these as the portions were huge. Everything was made to perfection! Probably one of the best burgers we have had at a movie theater specifically. The loaded fries were massive and there were no fry uncovered. The movie was good, seats were very comfortable, and it really made for a great one stop shop for a movie date night.

Today, it has completely transformed into a sleek, modern, and high-end cinema experience, making it one of our absolute favorite local spots for family movie nights. The auditorium layout is a huge upgrade. The plush recliners offer full recline capability, giving you that cozy, relaxed feeling right in front of the big screen. The updated lobby design is bright, airy, and welcoming from the moment you step through the doors. There is a full concessions and bar providing access to beer, wine, and craft options makes it a great way to kick back and chill before or during the show. On a recent family trip to see The Odyssey, we loved the comfortable setup, though my husband ran into a minor snag at concessions. During a mid-movie lobby run for snacks and drinks, he asked for a non-alcoholic beer (Bero)--the exact same thing we'd ordered earlier without any issue. This time, however, he was asked to present an ID. Since my husband had left his wallet in my purse back in the theater to keep it safe from the recliner cracks, he had to navigate a strict policy check mid-film without his card on hand. He spoke with the manager, who kindly offered a $10 credit and a free ticket for the trouble, which we appreciated. Funnily enough, when I stepped out a few minutes later for my coffee and grabbed his Bero for him, I wasn't carded at all! While service consistency can vary depending on which staff member is at the counter, the theater's overall comfort, great seating, and local roots still make it a place we love coming back to as a family. Tips: Keep Your ID on You: The theater has a policy requiring ID for adult beverages--including non-alcoholic craft beers like Bero. Make sure your partner keeps their ID in their pocket rather than leaving it in a purse inside the theater. Order Before Trailers Start: The recliners are so comfortable you won't want to get up, so grab all your cookies, drinks, and coffee before heading into the auditorium to avoid missing any of the movie. Super Expensive Food ....but def Worth the Experience ... if you want to make it Special. :) Call me Boujee but it's Def. for those that Like to be Pampered. Fried Calamari is so Bombbb. It was Perfect in Every way. No Complaints. The Crunch is Sharp + Pierces your ears and those around you. You can tell they Perfectly drained it and let it sit out, as it was oil-free. And, the Parmesan Added a Richness to Tie it All Together. Last time I had the salmon, brussels and mash. (I could make this dish at Home-but it was my Birthday.) It was very Good. Brussels were thoroughly cooked... & easy to bite into, your teeth goes through the vegetables without Resistance. Everything on my plate was Soft + Tender. Note: The movie doesn't Start on the dot. They play a Few other films Prior (incase you're Running Late). *If you don't like your Seat, Any Seats Left Open AFTER the Movie Starts you can Steal. *When choosing your seat online, make sure that it's not Upfront near the Screen... like I Did. It gave me some Anxiety being that Close to the Screen. Luckily, my Butler (^o^) helped me, (which was so Awesome) Move to a Better Seat... which gave some distance & a Better view. *You can have Non-Alcoholic drinks *They do have Dessert. I Do Like it when they have Greeters, when you walk in. (There wasn't Any.) And, it felt a lil' Ghost Town w no Human Interaction, Out Front. I Do Like it when they check your Tickets, (Makes it more Professional. They didn't this Time + you were able to just walk in.) Having Employees Posted out Front makes it more Professional, Elite, Private and Structured. There was no white glove service, (this time) aside from my partially Attentive Server. Last Time, I was Greeted by the tenant at the Concession Stand. And, my ticket was checked. But, overall it is a Luxurious Experience. The Theatre Reminds me of: MTV Cribs where the Pop Stars had their own Movie Theatre in their Home. ;) So, Across the Front Entrance, is a Lounge area-Restaurant + Bar. I Hope to Check out Oneday, as it also has a Romantic view at Night, under the Stars, And, is very Pretty. It's So Cool + I'm Really Grateful we have something like this in San Diego, at Liberty Station. I'm Looking Forward to coming Back.
