NASNI- Naval Air Station North Island. Lowry Base theater. Military ID is required to go on base. FREE showings, most of the times the movies are still showing at the theaters out in town. Large popcorn & drink for only $5.50. Good deals here. Seats are old style. Place can get a little hot. But you can't beat FREE. :) Super nice & friendly staff. Manny the manager is a cool dude. He has great customer service. We will be coming here more often. Thank you! Salute.

If you know a Military service member down in the San Diego area, you must try and get them to take you on base, more specifically to the Naval Air Station North Island (NASNI) in Coronado, CA. This is because you can watch FREE new release movies (yes, government sponsored) at the 1600 seat, near IMAX sized, Klipsch audio surround sound "Lowry Theater", which occupies a former quanza hut. This is so cool, words cannot even describe, let me tell you. So lucky me has seen many-a-movie at the Lowry Theater, where even the buttered popcorn is fantastic. Audio visual is superb, making me think that High Def is standard protocol for the Military and anything less just isn't sat. Yes, you may begrudgingly offer up that these are "our tax dollars at work", but let me tell you that THAT is a good thing here. Providing a cool theater is a small price to pay for these Military service members doing what they do, so let's just call it that. Overall, if the opportunity presents itself, take every chance you can get to take a seat at the Lowry Theater. Oh, and remember to mind your P's and Q's. In lieu of annoying previews, the Lowry substitutes a showstopping AV presentation of "The National Anthem", and movie theater viewers ALL STAND AND RISE. Seriously, how can you NOT love the idea of that? Yes, this is an easy 5 stars.

My family loves coming here if we see that they're showing a movie we haven't watched yet plus it's free.....so why not! Duh The food is ok, just like any theater that sells hot dogs and nachos = not all that great. The seats are extremely uncomfortable, my cousins and I always fidget around because our bottoms feel sore throughout the showing haha other than that, this place is ok. Good for military families and groups!

Hey ya know what. Pretty decent place . Free movies on the regular hooyah. Sometimes get to check out flicks before they come out in theatres for real so I can dig it .

This theater is better than 32nd street. No elevated seating though. It seems like the air stations get all the better perks.

Their sweet potato fries and chicken tenders are delicious. You can also order alcohol and get bottomless popcorn. The ambiance is comfy, and with the exception of our chairs malfunctioning 1 out of the 10 times I've been here, it's usually pretty relaxing. Here's what did and did not go well. Movie was great and what we expected. One of the recliners was not working properly, but enough to get by. Asked the server if they had old school chips, jalapeños and yellow cheese nachos. Wrong! it was white dip with stale cold chips, and no jalapeños. Ordered their "new" pizza sticks. Was told they were running short on Mariana sauce so they gave me ranch. Not exactly what I wanted or needed. BTW they are just mozzarella sticks with pepperoni inside. I ate both of sticks but wasn't aware it was only two sticks. Not worth the money. Bathroom: ladies have 3 stalls - one had a floor sign stating out of order, one had a broken seat, and the only one working someone got sick all over it. They never cleaned the bathroom for the two + hour duration we were there. Terrible service standards especially with sanitation. I thought places are supposed to check them at least every 30mins. Not going back anytime soon, too bad

I can easily rent something, wear my jammies, have a full meal and drinks in bed... but The LOT makes it worth getting out of the house. I still wear my jammies and slippers here and feel extra comfy. The reserved seating is a huge plus, and the recliners are so comfortable you feel like you're lying on a bed. With the push of a button, someone comes to take your order -- food, drinks, whatever you want. Yes, it's pricier than a standard theater, but the experience feels special. The theater itself is clean, small, and elevated compared to a typical movie theater. Each seat has its own little lamp and a swivel table for your snacks or dinner, which makes the whole setup feel boutique and cozy. I haven't tried the outdoor bar, restaurant, or café yet, but I love that they offer all of that in one place. This is the perfect spot for movies that deserve surround sound, a big screen, and a shared audience to laugh or cry with. And a tip: if you join their free rewards program, you can snag discounted tickets -- a great mid‑week treat. I would recommend getting their early to order your food/drink before the movie starts so you don't have to get intruppted mid movie! They also have a location in La Jolla that's just as nice, and they host fun watch parties and themed movie events, so check out their website to see what's coming up.

However, both food quality and service have been declining. They recently debuted ordering directly from your phone. But there's a tension between going that route and the servers. The servers are more proactive, almost aggressive about getting to you before you begin a phone order. And if you politely refuse, then you're persona non grata to them. Case in point, this weekend we watched the latest Star Wars movie. I'd ordered ketchup and ranch with two of our entrees. Neither were delivered with ranch, only ketchup. When we pressed the button for help, it took a while for the server to come. She understood our request for ranch dressing. But it never came. My fried chicken sandwich was dry and barely edible. The fries were good though, despite not getting the ranch I asked for.

Coincidentally re-encountering with long time not seen friends and colleagues gave a vibe of 'neighborhood' even if I don't live in Little Italy. The speakers introducing the movie did a great job in engaging the audience. I not only enjoyed the company, the film itself and the summer night, but also the sense of community there. Only $5. Some folks bring in food from the great restaurants all over Little Italy. The venue has a huge 10 foot outdoor screen with a great JBL sound system. The quaint amphitheater suits these movies perfectly.
