Dinner tray was placed out of reach of patient. Patient called for assistance. After an hour, CNA came into room and kicked the tray closer to patient and left. Patient was unable to lift the lid off of the tray or open ensure bottle. Patient food not minced/puréed as per dysphasia diet although being labeled as minced and moist/pureed. Patient was stripped and sponge bathed with door open and in view of others passing by in hallway. In general, it seemed understaffed. PT/OT services were good and specialists respected patient's dignity. CNAs overall lack training, empathy, and common sense.

There are a few assistants that were more attentive but overall my husband was frustrated with the care. The communication is the worst. No one seems to talk to each other. Therapy and case management seem to not communicate about the patient's progress. I on numerous occasions left messages and waited 2 or 3 days for a call back from case management. Once I was verbal it seemed like they were more attentive. Which is ridiculous. We had a change in insurance and were pretty much thrown out. I requested help bringing my husband home and response was insurance won't cover. Well if they would have advocated for my husband it would have been approved. Upon coming home from the facility I had to call our local fire to send an ambulance to bring my husband from the car into our home. That's not medically necessary? Please!! I know social workers who said that is ridiculous they could have done more. I had to.set up my husbands transportation to and from dialysis. Because of the lack of communication I don't have transportation for him one day to treatment This should have been done before we left or were discharged. I was told this was usually done upon being admitted. If so why was my husbands not done? The facility is clean and I do agree it a lot better as far as that is concerned. While my husband was there he was left on the toilet with the door open and put on the bed pan with the curtain open. Seriously? How about patient's privacy? I had to pull the curtain numerous times to.allow my husbands privacy. The food is horrible. And though we discussed with the dietitian about his likes he never received foods of his liking. Overall I will never recommend or send my husband there again. I will be contacting his insurance to inform them of the experience we had with Beaumont. I had to select a star if I could select none I would.

Everyone is very friendly and respectful. My only complaint is a few years ago they switched food providers for the Cafe and the food and service is a bit below average. Just like the government, there is no competition in this market so I understand why. I can't speak for the dining room as I hardly go there. Although rather expensive, I would recommend this place for a nursing home with attentive staff and people who truly care!

After release, she had at home physical therapy and occupational therapy through Oriol Home Health. And has now graduated to outpatient PT. Overall I have been thrilled with the quality of healthcare she has received and the compassion of the staff. At every step of this rehabilitation process. This has become my health provider of choice for my aging parents. Especially as they face joint replacements in the near future. So why the 3 stars instead of 5? It's their mask policy in this age of Covid. When the health care provider went to moms house, mom was told that she didn't have to wear a mask since she was in her own house. WTF? What - we aren't contagious in our own house? The health care provider wore a mask, but mom didn't since the therapist said she didn't have to. So this provider has been to who knows how many houses, visiting who knows how many patients, telling all those patients that masks were not necessary. I think we all know that we wear masks to protect others. But the health care provider didn't care about her patients wearing masks to protect her. Thank god that mom didn't catch anything during that time. Since I really wonder how protected the health care provider was. And here it is 2 months later and I'm still trying to educate mom on mask wearing. But she believes she doesn't have to wear a mask in her own house. Since some whack job therapist from Oriol told her she didn't have to.

There are two sides of UMass University Campus. The best part is the hospital itself, the worst by…read morefar is the ER and event that is divided. Here is what I mean. The doctors and especially the nurses I have dealt with through several surgeries and illnesses have been top notch and caring. No complaints and I have total trust in them especially in cardiology, neurology, vascular and diabetes care. They get five stars. The care in the ER, again especially from the nurses, is exceptional. Friendly and caring. They too get five stars. The problem is that when you need emergency care you first need to get triaged, this is what is so destructive to the UMass reputation. The people who staff the emergency check in are easily flustered and if you approach to ask why you have been sitting in the waiting room for 12 hours (my longest wait was 14 hours) they can be a bit cold, bordering on rude. You can get to triage without too much of a problem, just depends on how many people are in front of you. But the check in lacks a certain level of basic competence. I went to the ER with a stroke. The check in person had me sit with everyone else in the waiting room. After about 15-20 minutes a nurse came out to get me and realized I was having a stroke, from That point on they were awesome. Tonight I came here with a history of blood clots and apparently more were developing. I arrived here at 9pm. Quickly got into triage and again had two great nurses. I was told that because of my history of stroke and heart failure I would be put onto a priority list. It is now 5:00am and not a peep from anyone. The waiting room is almost empty. The person at check in was MIA. The security guards could not have been any more rude. In a nasty tone they told me to just wait for the nurse. They will not even look me in the eye, they look past you. This is the most unprofessional setting and 180 degrees from the rest of the facility. By the way, they came through to clean the waiting room once, they waited so long to clean that there was blood on the floor, bloody gauze, trash... it is just disgusting. Clearly the leadership team doesn't read any of the reviews here nor do they actually spend time in the ER, if they did they might just do something about it. No one is holding the leadership of the ER accountable, that is the problem. I have been a senior leader in HR for many years, I can fix this problem within weeks and start to change the culture and attitude of this ER operation. Follow up at 8:00am - I am finally in a room in the ER and it is 180 degrees from the experience of the check in and waiting area. Excellent doctors and nurses. Very caring and very nice to be around. So odd!
