They created a personalized plan for us and met with me weekly to adjust it as needed. They were incredibly supportive, never pushy, and always encouraged me to follow what worked best for me and my baby while providing expert guidance. They also helped me so much with pumping--everything from creating a schedule to using wearable pumps and even figuring out milk storage for travel. After contacting Cynthya thru the Happiest Doulas website, I spoke with her and knew immediately that I needed the support of a doula from The Happiest Doulas as a part of my birth team. I requested a consult with Jeni Standard. Jeni's biography resonated with me the most because she had studied functional nutrition, and was certified in both nutrition and lactation. As a sufferer of Celiac Disease and someone who struggled with getting pregnant, I knew she would be a great resource and offer the support and understanding I needed. And I was so right - Jeni was the calm to my storm! She was there to comfort me after after some scary experiences. She also had great reading recommendations, as I was avidly reading all the books while pregnant. We had so many questions after our son was born and Jeni was so supportive and responsive. Because she is also a certified lactation consultant, she was able to support my decision to breastfeed, despite many obstacles. She followed up with me many times after our son was born, and I still feel like I could reach out to her just to catch up! Included in my birth package were 10 weeks of birth bootcamp classes. Our instructor, Alexa Gumm, was so wonderful! Her warmth and experience made our weekly Sunday classes something that my husband and I truly looked forward to. It turned out to be a great bonding experience for the two of us. We learned so much - from what to expect during labor (we got to watch videos) to info on breastfeeding. The classes were great for me, but mostly, I wanted my husband to really understand the process. He is not the type to read books, so a class was perfect. Alexa made sure the "dads" understood ways to support their partners during the birthing process. Alexa would have been so proud of my husband because he remembered everything she taught us during class and he was really supportive while I was in labor! She even followed up with me after our son was born and gave me some recommendations that were really helpful. I am so thankful Cynthya brought together the wonderful group called The Happiest Doulas! I will surely call on them again in the future when I plan my next birth. Michelle patiently walked me through what was normal and healthy for newborns and expectations for my daughter. She put me at ease and provided techniques to assist me with helping my daughter transfer more milk in her feedings. These techniques worked, as I discovered in my follow up weighted feed that my daughter was now transferring more milk!!! She sat with me during a feeding and observed. It didn't feel intrusive or intimidating. She showed true concern and had me talk her through my concerns. Lastly, she assisted me with properly using my breast pump. I had been using the incorrect flange size and experiencing some discomfort during my pump sessions. She quickly looked at me and guided me to the correct flange size and my pump sessions have greatly improved with me now getting 2+ more ounces than o previously had. She never once appeared tired, impatient, or frustrated with the birthing progress. We had a completely natural birth (in a hospital setting) but having Shiphrah and my Husband there made me feel like I was in the comfort of my own home- despite all the unnecessary hospital chaos that was happening around me. When my daughter was first born, she wasn't gaining…read moreweight fast enough, and we needed help making sure she was getting enough milk to stop supplementing with formula. Melissa came to our house, checked everything out, we did weighted feeds, she gave lots of super helpful tips (even though this was my second baby). In no time, baby girl was eating without issue! So well in fact, that we had to have Melissa come back out now that baby is 5 months old, and now wouldn't take a bottle. With baby starting school soon, we knew we had to get her to take a bottle in the near future. We tried about 5 types of bottles over the course of a few weeks, with several types of nipple flows, and all we got was screaming and bottle refusal. Then I remembered that Melissa also helps with bottle refusal and gave her a call. Melissa recommended a type of bottle that often works in these cases, came over, and had our baby drinking out of the bottle on the first attempt. We've had no issues since! Truly a miracle! I wish I had called her again sooner, we could have saved a lot of money and anxiety! Cannot recommend Melissa highly enough!

At that point, we had already paid her trusting the great reviews she had online. Covid hit, and in Atlanta they didn't allow a 2nd support person (in some hospitals they were not even allowing the partner), and I was furlough from my job. We asked if she can keep half of the payment, and refund us half back since she won't join us in the hospital. She has not responded to my asks for that, literally tried numerous times, and feel very much scammed. Terrible experience- especially since we approached this from a place of wanting support, she turned out to be anything but that and added significant stress during my pregnancy.

What do we do about this?) etc etc. And then when the Covid-19 pandemic made EVERYTHING unknown, having Rebecca's NO BS style, guidance, empowering energy and knowledge made us much more comfortable and confident with every new twist and turn. The hospital only allowed one guest (my partner) so Rebecca video chatted with us during the entire labor. She coached us through every step of the way. I had some unforeseen complications and Rebecca worked with us and our medical staff to make sure we understood everything before moving forward with next steps. We ended up with a healthy mama and baby. And even though our birth story ended up very differently from our birthing plan, I wouldn't have changed a thing. I feel so satisfied with how well everyone worked together to nurture and support our little family. They came highly recommended by a friend, so I had high hopes of them being able to help me with my low supply issue. So I made an appointment with them and they sent one consultant over. I asked the consultant to check to see if I had clogged duct, she said "maybe". Then I asked her to show me how to do hand expression, she said "oh just go to this website and watch the video, they do it better". Seriously?? Then why do I pay you to come here?? So basically, she had wasted 2 hours of my life by telling me keep doing what I had been doing, and did not give me any suggestions to increase my supply. It also didn't help that she was kinda rude. I just had a c section 2 weeks ago, and the consultant was asking me to hold her heavy scale while she gets the booties off her shoes. This consultation was completely useless and I was very unsatisfied, so I called the company and asked to speak with the owner Sharon. She wasn't there when I called so I told the receptionist what happened and asked her to let Sharon know and give me a call. Well, Sharon was obviously too busy and said she would call at certain time then texted me saying she wasn't available. So eventually I was able to speak with her. She wasn't apologetic on the phone and kept on asking me questions of the visit that's irrelevant to how she's going to resolve the issue that I just wasted $220 and 2 hours of my life! Her tone was more like an interrogation than trying to resolve issue. She kept on saying that the consultant spent 2 hours at my house, so I need to pay her. But honestly, I'd rather she spends 5 min at my house and gives useful information that actually helps! Sharon didn't offer any of resolving this, not like " we'll send a different consultant over, or we'll refund you", none of that. She basically just said "too bad, you gotta pay us". As a new mom who's already struggling with bf, I don't need this extra stress in my life. So I just count the $$ I paid to them a loss. And I'm sharing my story to future moms so you don't have to go through the same frustration. STAY AWAY!!!
