She immediately sent a full plan via email reiterating the tips and info she shared during the visit for reference. Lactation support and education should be accessible to every mother when considering the immense benefits of breastfeeding - and Sophia made sure we had all the tools for success, making herself available at any point in the future for any other questions we had. By 3 weeks old, he was in the 2nd percentile for weight, and I wasn't sure I'd be able to build a milk supply. Working with Lerae and Nakaiya at Atlanta Lactation was a complete turning point. They created a personalized plan for us and met with me weekly to adjust it as needed. They were incredibly supportive, never pushy, and always encouraged me to follow what worked best for me and my baby while providing expert guidance. They also helped me so much with pumping--everything from creating a schedule to using wearable pumps and even figuring out milk storage for travel. That support made a huge difference in my confidence and day-to-day routine. After 5 weeks, my baby graduated at 8 weeks old, now thriving, chunky, and fully nourished on breastmilk. I loved working with Jessica who was so friendly, professional and a wealth of information! It is so clear she has a passion for helping moms and babies. Jessica and the whole team were amazing. They always answered my questions promptly--no matter how big or small. They followed up with me while I was in the hospital to see how things were going with breastfeeding. They answered several panicked calls from my husband when we were having issues with latching. Jessica worked with me to help me become comfortable breastfeeding addressing some limited mobility issues. She even dropped off different nipples to try out to help us workshop what would work for my baby. I didn't think she would have taken me as her client because I was already 39 weeks pregnant at our first meeting. The night I went into labor at 41 weeks, she showed up ready...essential oils and all! She was with my Husband and I for every step of the way (triage to an hour or so after the baby arrived) and she respected/supported EVERY decision my Husband and I made. She never once appeared tired, impatient, or frustrated with the birthing progress. We had a completely natural birth (in a hospital setting) but having Shiphrah and my Husband there made me feel like I was in the comfort of my own home- despite all the unnecessary hospital chaos that was happening around me. I would definitely use her again! I still think about the back rubs, the counter pressure, hugs, breathing techniques, leg rubs, smiles, reassurance, and just calm spirit she maintained to help me through such a painful & beautiful time! She answered many questions I had and provided documentation up until delivery day. Let me tell you how happy I am she was there. She was a trooper. From 12pm to 6:30a.m the next morning. she was by my side supporting me and my husband the entire time. My epidural left me with a hotspot across my lower abdomen that was not reached by the epidural. The pain for me was intense. She stayed by me offering breathing guidance,rubbing my back and offered peppermint oil as I kept becoming very nauseas from the pain. I had a very hard time and could not have done it without her. Eventually a c section had to be done as I stalled in dialating enough and could no longer take the pain. Ashley was there again after the c section checking up on me and baby. I appreciate her so much and will be forever grateful to her.

I am almost a year postpartum and can confidently state that I would not recommend this doula if you are planning for a spontaneous labor. My estimated due date was in the middle of April. One of the questions I asked prior to choosing this doula was whether there was a back up doula readily available if needed and was told yes. So, by the time I was weeks past my due date, two things should have happened: 1. The back up doula should have been on call because it would mean I would go into labor any minute now. 2. As a first-time mom, I should have been physically checked in on the moment I even HINTED at feeling contractions. Neither of those things occurred. In fact, the doula was less than 5 minutes away from me at the local hospital I ended up being rushed to in an ambulance. Instead of stopping by after being with her previous client, she went home due to a graduation she wanted to watch online. I wanted so badly to be strong like I was advised to be by this doula and my midwives, but I paid to have a doula who would be by my side and she was not. I later spoke with my midwives to understand what went wrong and they informed me that because I had a doula, they assumed the doula was with me and would tell them when it was time. So when they kept hearing from my husband and not my doula, they just assumed I was in early labor and that's why they didn't feel the pressure to tell me to come to the birth center. They were relying completely on my doula to relay to them when it was time. I am so so so so thankful to God that all is well. I am still shaken by the stories I come across where it went left for others. When we met at the hospital after the birth, she was not catering to me. Instead personal issues were raised like being fatigued and missing the graduation and there was very little focus on me and the baby. I paid for postpartum visits that were never brought up or discussed and never done. I paid in full and did not receive any form of a refund. I did reach out to her personally and received an apology. But, as a pregnant black woman, I was scared of the medical system and I invested in a doula to be there for me and she was not. Her services were not worth the investment and it has turned me away from ever getting a doula ever again. So, where she may be good for a planned c-section birth, I would never recommend her for a spontaneous labor for a birth center birth.

I wanted someone in the room who wasn't as clueless as I was who know their way around the medical lingo. I found all of this and more! We had a few meetings set up prior to delivery. We went over the goals, discussed my health concerns so she would be aware, she met my husband & we got on the same page regarding what my medical professionals were telling me. My situation was unique in that I was to be induced at 37 weeks, so it seemed to be more of a scheduling situation than anything. BUT, baby decided that she calls shots, I went into labor that day. She was so helpful throughout the delivery, keeping me calm, there as we pushed & assisted in the breastfeeding. After I got home & was CLUELESS, she even came to the house & walked me through it. A billion times more helpful than the hospital Lactation consultant. Highly recommend this service for a personal experience for one of the most important times of your life!
