The service has declined over the years beginning when you first walk in. You are given a wait time as to when you will be seen as a deterrence, then given an additional wait time as to when you will see the doctor in the back. If I am sick, this is not a problem. The staff that check you in talk rudely to you and appears they do not like working with sick patients. Loyola please help this site before it closes. read more

It is a walk-in care facility. Most of what I saw walk in was by no means "urgent" but it beats a trip to the ER. It is clean and bright on entry. We were greeted immediately, answered a few questions, and then had a seat. The wait was, maybe, 5 minutes. Doctor was extremely professional, as were the rest of the staff we met. X-ray and lab are on site. Wish there was a Loyola facility farther west. When it is not an emergency situation, these urgent cares are the way to go. read more

Wow... it's insane how these guys get away with this crap. We were billed for what they say is 45-59 mins. 564 dollars! And guess what?! We were in that doctors office for MAX 15 minutes. And then they left us in there and "forgot" to come get us and give us the prescription so we could leave. I literally had to go in the hall and say.. "hello!???" Do NOT go to this place. They always want to refer you to a specialist in their system (because they just want your insurance money). We will NOT go back to this place anymore. I had an exceptional experience today at the Urgent Care in River Forest. There was confusion at the front desk when they said it was going to be a 90 minute wait in my car-but she actually meant the entire experience would be 90 minutes. I thought: does she WANT me to leave? Anyway, a great nurse called me in my car. I'm sorry I didn't get her name. But she was amazing. And then the Dr-who also works at the big ER-he was outstanding. It was like real people talking to a real person. No egos and just a great positive conversation and direction. I think it would be difficult to deal with people who don't feel well. I've been here a number times in the past 4 years for asthma attacks, strep throat and an eye injury and had very positive experiences each time. The check-in and support staff were pleasant and helpful. The doctors were all excellent and had the right equipment to diagnose and treat all 3 issues quickly and thoroughly. Medication was sent to the correct pharmacy. Wait times were minimal, less than 45 minutes each time which is great for a busy Immediate Care center. Prices were reasonable after Blue Cross discount. Easy, free parking. Clean facility. Close to home. Highly recommend. read more

The doctor did not give a clear recommendation on next steps. Dr Nielsen gave a referral to see advised that we "wait to see a gastroenterologist with a first appointment 6 weeks later or go to the ER, if we feel it's urgent". Basically advising that we make an assessment of next steps despite her conducting a rectal exam and full exam. The goal of coming here is to get sound advice on next steps, not be told to make our own assessment of the urgency of the situation. We could have made this assessment on our own. I have taken my husband here twice for silly middle-aged-man-weekend-injuries and the experience was as expected. Long wait. Too many people. Since we were always there on a weekend, I didn't give it a second thought. More recently, not able to get into my PCP, I came her for my own illness. It is a virulent cold and flu season. Everyone knows this. I arrived literally as the place opened and there were already a dozen ahead of me. Administratively things went fine. I was surprised that most of those ahead of me had APPOINTMENTS. Appointments? Um...isn't this Immediate Care? Did I need an appointment? If my fever weren't so high, I may have actually tried to process all of this. The bad: I was there 2 hours, which is ridiculous considering I opened the place. Reason was they only had 1 doctor there. What? Cold/flu season! Also, staff were discussing cases very loudly and I know way too much about people who don't want me to know their health status. The good: Dr. Janet Nielsen was professional, kind, upbeat and competent. Worth the wait. Best doctor I have seen in a long time. Maybe ever. 4 stars due to being clearly understaffed, the confusion about appointments, and the HIPAA violators. De. Nielsen alone is 5 stars. Next time will make an appointment with her! read more

Good luck getting seen here, even if you're there 1.5-2 hrs before close. They close whenever they want. Twice I was turned away before closing time even though I called to ask if they were still taking walk-in's 5 mins before I got there. A lady drove an hour to get there, and they turned her away. I guess if you get hurt, better plan on doing it early. That's your best chance of being seen here. read more

I've been here multiple times and usually i have no issue. I waited for 2 hours before i was seen, which isn't uncommom. The doctor came in and rushed asking me what wrong, barely gave me an exam and sent me on my way. She didn't even tell me what was wrong. I felt so rushed, I felt like she didn't care. I feel like i wasn't given a proper examination. I also told her i felt like my rib cracked, she didnt give me an xray and just said to ice it. She didn't even sit down at the computer like most of the doctors there do and enter my information. I am very displeased with how i was treated. They charge you $800 for an xray when Dr. Tonino recommended an MRI. They shouldn't take the xrays until after the visit with Dr. Tonino to understand if an MRI is needed first. read more

We brought our son here a few weeks ago as he had a fever for a week that he couldn't shake. Overall, the staff was pleasant and seemed capable. However, we ended up waiting an extra 20 minutes due to a miscommunication between the nurse and doctor about the strep test. After we received the bill for the visit we were quite alarmed. We have BCBS PPO insurance, yet we had a laboratory charge, a clinic charge and a medical charge totaling over $460.00. Out of pocket it cost $130.00, since Loyola likes to double bill their patients with a "clinic" fee that is not covered by insurance. Our doctor's office (in Loyola's network) uses this double billing policy also. When I called Loyola's customer service department to ask about the "clinic" charge I was told this fee is for using the hospital's nurses and facilities. Clearly we were not at the hospital, so I have a hard time understanding this charge as nothing more than a way to charge patients more for visits. Needless to say, we will not be visiting this clinic again, and are in the process of finding a doctor outside of Loyola's network. read more

Unless you're quite sure that you need to go to a facility like this, I highly recommend you don't, unless you have the kind of insurance where you pay basically nothing out of pocket. We have a high deductible plan so we pay cash for most services. A few months back our son was referred here by a school nurse because he cut his chin and she thought he might need stitches. After seeing the doctor for less than a minute (really), it was determined he did not need stitches. They cleaned up him, put some liquid bandage on the cut, and sent him home. The entire visit lasted 15 minutes. We were billed nearly $500 dollars for this service. In fact, the bill they sent to our insurance company was nearly $1200! It was reduced to just under $500 through the negotiated insurance discounts, and that's what we've been asked to pay. After multiple follow up calls (most of which were not returned, by the way), I was informed that they were quite sure the charges were correct. Most expensive bandaid I ever bought. Stay away from places like these, who prey on our screwed up insurance system to charge outrageous fees just to say hello. Next time go to a Minute Clinic. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would but unfortunately I have to give 1. This past Friday I was sick with the flu , as soon as I walked up to the receptionist she had absolutely no bed side manner what so ever, had a major attitude. I wish I asked for her name. When I walked back into the room the nurse weighed me ... then proceeded to tell me after taking my vitals " just so you know according to our chart you are over weight". I started to laugh considering I'm 5'0 & 125 lbs and very fit. She says " your laughing but it's true" I'm not sure what the hell that has to do with going in for flu , I am not there for a physical exam. Again zero bed side manner. My doctor comes in wearing Tommy Hilfiger sweat pants with her white coat over, very professional ??? I will never EVER come back or refer anyone here again. read more

After leaving a understaffed immediate care center that told me it would be a 3.5 hour wait, I decided to go closer to home and see how Loyola's Immediate Care Center wait was looking. Turns out they had a few doctors working and the wait was only going to be 15-30 minutes. I was in a lot of pain which was noted at the front desk, so they did their best and got me in in about 20 minutes. Vicki was absolutely kind and compassion when I checked in and I can't tell you how much that matters when you are in such discomfort. I recommend this facility not only for the short wait times, but for the level of care and consideration for me as a patient. read more

"What do they call the person who graduates last in his or her class in medical school?" "Doctor." This joke was in the front of my mind while at this office. Dr. and her staff were underqualified. For example, they didn't seem to know the difference between a bacterial and viral infection. For the record, viral infections only last 3-5 days and go away on their own. Viral infection usually involve a high fever that can spike, and viruses tend to affect your whole body. Bacterial infections are typically indicated by low-grade fever, they affect a much smaller part of the body, and they DO NOT go away without antibiotics. They can linger for weeks, even months if not treated. Both the doctor and her nursing staff seemed to be ignorant about these medical facts. The staff also seemed to think that strep was the only possible bacterial infection. The only reason I went here was because I do not have a GP (I have lots of other doctors), and I needed help quickly. Neither was accomplished with this visit. The wait was LONG (over an hour), the doctor barely saw me, and she did not diagnose my problem accurately, and yet gave me a lot of attitude. Arrogance should not trump intelligence. I know some people think of this clinic as an alternative to the ER, but if you have a serious problem, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! read more

I use to like going here but last time I was here the nurses were being rude and talking about me behind my back at the desk. I told them not to worry about a pregnancy test because I was pregnant at the time and the nurse told the other many nurses at their desk and they started saying negative things about me being young and pregnant. I was too nervous to confront them about it so they just kept talking about it without realizing I could hear them as they were just a few feet outside of my door. Our experience was quite good at this facility. The nurse and doctor that we saw were professional, but also very nice. And, our wait time was very brief. We needed to bring our son in because he became ill quickly in a 24-hour period, had a high fever, and has an underlying health condition. The doctor examined him, ordered the needed tests based on his ongoing and acute health issues, and consulted with the on-call specialist at Luries' Children Hospital while we were still there to make sure all the bases were covered. She personally called our house the next morning to give the result of one tests that needed to be run overnight and followed through with a prescription. We could not have asked for more! read more
