Both of my prescriptions were denied refills after my medication wasn't at the pharmacy, and I was being intentionally led on for them to find something to use against me. Even though agreements were made during the last appointment for my medication to be at the pharmacy, I had to call multiple times because the medication wasn't there--leaving me hopeless, abandoned, and in a very serious predicament. I worked with them for almost two years and felt deserted and set up to fail while not drinking, smoking, or messing with my dosages/living a healthy life/and very goal oriented--just for example--which was a one-sided effort, much like the services offered.They are a toxic group. She is almost fully recovered from her surgery the first week of October 2021 and Dr. Al-Kadari informed us he expects my mother to be back to 100% by Thanksgiving or Christmas 2021. This was only my second time meeting with Al-Kadari even though he was the main surgeon on my mother's case and she spent 3+ weeks in the hospital at Rush Medical Center. Since her hospital discharge October 20th, we have had three post-op visits with his associate, Ashley Knies. Ashley appeared nervous, insecure, and all around lacking intelligence. Our first visit with her she did nothing besides prescribe more opiates. Our second visit she remover the bandage but did not feel comfortable replacing my mother's wound vac stating she did not have proper supplies or bandages. Luckily, our home healthcare nurse, Sarah helped me pack/prepare the wound vac for the post-op visit, in addition to extra bandages. I tried to hand the bag with the wound vac to Ashley but she shook her head nervously so instead I handed a bandage to Ashley who emphasized, "I wish we had these, our bandages are not near as good as these." After our visit, I reviewed the appointment notes in "MyChart" and was shocked to see Ashley wrote we failed to bring my mother's wound vac to the appointment, which is an outright lie! Moreover, let's pretend we had not brought the wound vac or bandages, why are these supplies not at the hospital? Are they truly lacking necessary medical supplies or is it simply Ashley's incompetence placing blame elsewhere?

He's often busy, like most doctors, but we've not had a big problem making appointments with minimal waiting and his office is convenient to us in Oak Park. I wish Rush could figure out a better parking lot situation but that's not Dr. Grant's fault. Even if you have to park in their garage it's not more than a three minute walk to the building he's in. I would recommend Dr. Grant to anyone looking for a family doctor.

I was referred to this doctor by an ER doctor at Rush Oak Park Hospital for treatment of…read more"trigeminal neuralgia" (look it up and you'll know that I was in a lot of pain). I finally TRACKED DOWN his office (see my review on the wrong address for this same doctor). The office opens at 9 am on Monday's. I arrived at 9:10 am and I was not greeted at all. I'll start by saying that I have never met this doctor face to face...the bespectacled, blond, old white lady sitting at the front desk made sure of that. I had to assume she was the receptionist because she never introduced herself to me. The door was locked, so I knocked lightly, because I could see through the office window that she was on the phone, but she appeared to be trying very hard to ignore that I was there. When she finally came to open the door, she stood in the doorway without inviting me in. Instead, she appeared to challenge my right to even be there. "What can I help you with?" No hello. No good morning. Not once did she smile during our entire conversation. I informed her that the rubber stamp supplied to the ER does not show the doctor's correct address. She snapped at me saying "how is that my fault? I told them we moved." She never attempted to make me feel welcome, so I stepped forward on my own to come into the door. At that moment, I noticed a younger woman and a younger man behind the counter. They were engrossed in a conversation of their own. Was this young man the doctor? Who knows, I was never introduced. Instead, the old lady demanded to know what I wanted. She said it just like that "what do you want?" I asked if this was Dr. Peter Grant's office? She at least confirmed that. Then, she restated her question..."what do you want?" Realizing, finally, how harsh that sounds, she then rephrased her question to "how can I help you?" However, the tone was still very hard. I explained to her: "I was in the ER [at Rush Oak Park Hospital] yesterday morning because I woke up to an excruciating pain on the right side of my face. The ER doctor diagnosed me as having Trigeminal Neuralgia and referred me to Dr. Grant for follow up. The ER doctor also prescribed a medication called Altram (50 mg). I would like you to ask the doctor..." Apparently disinterested, she cut me off before I could finish. She rudely demanded: "would you like to schedule an appointment?" I answered: "Well perhaps, but only if my insurance will cover it completely, because I don't have any money for a copay" I handed her my insurance card. She snatched the card from my hand and walked around to the other side of the counter as she mumbled something about the doctor not seeing me without paying a $25 dollar copay. I didn't want an appointment if this condition is chronic (meaning it can't be cured or otherwise resolved). Therefore, I attempted to ask her: "Can you just ask the doctor if this condition is something that can be cured or does it just..." She wasn't listening though. She seemed more interested in getting me to leave her office. Once she discovered that the copay might be cost prohibitive to me remaining in her presence, she kept interrupting me by saying: "if you don't have the $25, then I can set an appointment for when you do have it." She went on to add that "the doctor is not going to answer your question without you paying the copay". I said, "can you go ask HIM and see what HE says?" She repeated, "the doctor is not going to answer your question without you paying the copay". Realizing that this conversation is going in a circle, I thanked her for her time and proceeded out the door; but not before turning again and asking her to verify that I was in the correct office. I asked: "This is Dr. Peter Grant's office isn't it?" She said, "yes it is." But still, she never did tell me her name. I said "have a nice day", to which, she did not reply. Again, I did not meet the doctor (unless that was him behind the counter). Nonetheless, if the policy of his practice is what informs the unwelcoming nature of this woman, then it's probably better that I did not. Anyway, I received 6 days worth of pain meds from the ER at Rush. So at least I'll be at peace for the next 5 days. That gives me time to research Trigeminal Neualgia on the internet, and to find a real doctor if I still need to. Hopefully, it's just one of those acute nerve problems that will go away on it's own. It will be interesting to find out 6 months from now, if that old woman ever bothered to walk downstairs and provide an updated rubber stamp to the Rush Oak Park Hospital ER doctors; so that referred patients (many of whom are in pain) will know that Dr. Peter Grant's address has changed and is no longer in an office SEVEN BLOCKS AWAY, at 1011 Lake St. Ste 300, but is in the same building as the hospital at 610 S. Maple St. Ste 3000. Right up stairs.

I would like to rate this office higher but cannot…read more I have been a patient of Dr. Spratford's for almost 10 years and will not go anywhere only because of how great he is as an individual. This review though is for the practice as a whole. Time and time again over the years, this office seems to have suffered the problem of getting too large, too quickly, without enough resources. When they did their major additions and upgrades it took them months to get things together. The staff was/is over-worked and there was too much traffic at all times. Outside of that transition time hasn't been better. Getting in touch with your doctor is difficult. You have to call, leave a message, and often, even if you ask for the doctor, you get a call back from the nurse. Then you have to go through the whole process of leaving a message and waiting again. The staff and RN's have repeatedly gotten my recurring prescriptions wrong when communicating with the pharmacy, sometimes costing me dearly (I will say that the office has resolved this for me with their in house pharmacy, but I had to almost demand it). Out of all of that, my biggest complaint about the office is the general lack of attention to detail. For example, if my doctor leaves town, I have to TELL the doctor filling in to check my chart. To me this should be standard operating procedure. How can you answer a question of a patient if you haven't reviewed their file? They are too busy, without enough administrative staff, and it shows in the quality of assistance I get when I'm not with my doctor. (I'm surprised there's a hidden review here that says pretty much the same thing. I knew when I came on here that I couldn't possibly be the only person who's noticed this problem creep up over the years)

She is young, probably in her 30s, and just very attentative to me. I've seen doctors in the past who were eager to get you in and out, but Dr. Vaughan takes the time to sit down and listen to what you're going through. My most recent visit was in January '08, the reason I didn't really know. I had had a perpetual throat-clearing/cough for at least a year and I was finally getting it checked out. I did some research, and didn't know if it was allergies, asthma, or GIRD. I went in there, she sat down, and said "This is when I get to be a detective and figure out what's going on with you." I thought that was AWESOME! I was in there for an hour an a half, she was running different tests on me, and we figured out that it's possibly allergy-induced asthma, and definitely some allergy issues. I feel a lot better now that we're getting to the bottom of things, and I would recommend her to anyone! Other notes: I rarely have to wait more than 5 minutes in the waiting area to go into a room, which is great. Nothing worse than going to the doctor's office and having to sit and wait (especially when you have an appointment!).
