When I woke up yesterday morning my eye was swollen. (I've had this issue before) And knew exactly what I needed. In this day and age surely we have some Dr. that's open 24h and thanks to the internet I found Chicago Express Dr's. I called around 3 am and Dr. Allen answered. After telling him what was going on, he told me I would be better off seeing an ophthalmologist. Dr. Allen did offer to look at some pictures just to make sure. I appreciate that Dr. Allen took the time to view my photos, he could've easily come by and taken my money just to tell me that. 3 AM, home alone and painful stomach spasms - what is a girl to do? I woke up in the middle of the night with painful stomach spasms. I thought they might go away, so I tried to tough it out. When that didn't work I tried a few Pepto caplets, which not only didn't work, but made me throw up almost immediately. I wasn't keen on going to the ER; I've been many times with my parents and know that getting out in under 4 hours is nearly impossible, especially on a weekend. I Googled 24h immediate care places and got nothing, the earliest I could get to one was 8 AM. Five. Hours. Away. I thought, I'm tough, I can stick it out and went back to laying in bed wincing. When I was convinced it had to be close to 6, I looked at my phone again. Yep, it was only 4:30; there was no way I could stick it out until 8, so I went back to my phone and took a second look at the results. That's when I found Chicago Express Doctors. A doctor at my house in under an hour? STFU! The nice guy I talked to asked me some basic triage questions and collected my payment info (all of the initial visit info is on the website). As promised, in about an hour Dr. Allen was at my house. The whole appointment lasted maybe 30 minutes; he gave me shots for the pain and nausea, which also help me sleep. He also left me a few prescriptions for when the shots wore off. He said he'd call later that day to check on me and he did. The whole experience cost me $600-ish; a receipt is emailed within two days. My insurance ended up reimbursing me for 40% of the cost; I wish it was more (especially since I'm sure the ER would've cost them more), but honestly, it was totally worth it for a quick, easy resolution to my situation. read more

I was a little hesitant using this service but decided to give it a shot and soooo thankful I did. I work a crazy schedule and came down with and earache. After two restless nights, I decided to give them a try. The doctor was at my location within an hour (I've sat in waiting rooms this long). The doctor diagnosed me and I thought I would have to suffer through a visit to the pharmacy to wait for my prescriptions. Nope. The doctor had them in hand. The doctor was professional (masked) and very thorough with his explanation of recommended treatment and medications. He was able to provide me with quick relief to my pain. Dr. took quite long to get here, and when he arrived, he took a long time to get to my daughter. Those things were acceptable, just annoying. What bothered me is his lack of bedside manner. Doc never said anything to comfort her or that he's going to take a look at her. I'm not sure he ever told us his name. He ended up doing a 5 minute check and decided she needed to go to ER. In the time it took him to get there, symptoms had worsened, but we had already called you and given our cc. My father is bed ridden and has a very difficult time going out into the winter cold, but my mother knew something was wrong with him. After she told me she was unsuccessful in convincing him to go to the doctor, I vented to my friend who referred me to CED. I spoke to Frank over the phone who was very professional and gave me details about pricing and how it all worked. He was very straightforward and I was not surprised by any extra fees afterwards. The pricing was reasonable considering my father does not have health insurance. There was a base cost to drive out to my parents' home and then the medicine in addition to that. I wasn't there when the doctor arrived but my mom said he was very kind and took good care of my father. He received two shots and some additional medication to help with his symptoms. My father was so happy that he didn't have to leave the house and he felt a lot better. Shame on Chicago Express Doctors! They took advantage of us when our daughter was in horrible pain and we were our most vulnerable. They charged us outrageous amounts for four distinct medicines. As an example, they charged us $60 for 50 MG of Benadryl - a 4,027% markup from the $1.49 that Walgreen's charges. This was on top of charges for each home visit as well as separate charges for "transportation". When we were later notified that our insurance company was denying 94% of the charges for these medicines, we had already spent over $25,000 for them over the course of 90 home visits. Whatever happened to the Hippocratic Oath? Don't let yourself fall victim to such unethical and immoral price gouging. read more

Doctor was prompt, listened carefully, friendly .. just awesome My work has me traveling quite often. I woke up one morning. My neck was 3x the size. My throat hurt like ****, and i felt like utter garbage. My clinic and internist were booked and i was due to get on a flight to Denver the following morning. Ugh. I googled and found Chicago Express Doctors. The doctor came in, gave me the strep culture which came back positive. He gave me an injection of antibiotics, which i had never had. He also gave me a steroid to decrease my swelling in my neck. He also gave me a Z-pack, sore throat rinse. I never had to leave the house! No runs to the pharmacy, no waiting in lines. IN-CREDIBLE.. i have had strep many times in my life, but never have i felt better so quickly! Honestly, the throat felt better within 3/4 hours. I was able to get on the plane the next morning, felt wonderful. All i can say is WOW. If only all docs did this. I just can't say enough great things about these guys. I had a wonderful experience today with one of the physicians from this group. He was incredibly kind, had excellent bedside manner, and had a very high level of professionalism. I've been in medical sales for 20 years and I've been around a large number of physicians and I was highly impressed. He was very thorough in his assessment of my needs and provided a treatment that immediately reduced my back pain. Once he was finished I stood up for the first times in months and didn't feel searing pain. I highly recommend this medical service. read more

My husband thought he was dying...So I called Express Doctors. In about 1 1/2 hours, the doc showed up at the door and concluded my husband had a bad case of food poisoning and gave him two shots to calm the nausea and cramping and some medicine to keep him well for the nest few days. Dr. Allen was great and my husband wants to keep him as his primary care doctor :) $265 for the home service call - much cheaper than the ER and really only slightly more than Urgent Care where you wait for hours and hours...We'll call Express Doctors again when we feel so bad that we can't leave the house.... read more

So this has gotten even weirder. I was offered $200 to take down my Yelp review and write an email saying that the whole thing was my mistake. I never got the $100 refund I was promised. I called again a few times and was told to talk to Dr. Allen. He then told me that he doesn't handle this stuff. I asked to talk to whomever does, but he said the admin staff will not talk on the phone and will only talk to me over email. That was really frustrating since they ignored my previous email. I emailed them again, and they didn't follow up. I got a call again from Dr. Allen and he said that they would refund $100 (which had already been promised, no strings attached), but only if I take down the Yelp review. I said I wouldn't do that. So he asked what I wanted and I said $200 because that's how much I was overcharged. He said he could make that happen, but I needed to take down the Yelp review and write an email saying that the whole thing was a misunderstanding. It wasn't a misunderstanding. I understand very well what happened. I was sick and bullied by this company. At no point after my treatment did I receive even basic courteousness from the staff. They have been rude, bullying, and manipulative. I am now giving up on them, and I am going to dispute the charges with my bank. read more

I had the BEST doctor experience ever!! After 12 days of work travel and busy trade shows, I had developed a horrible respiratory infection that brought me to tears. The nicest doctor came to my hotel (W Lakeshore) and evaluated my condition and treated me with a combination of antibiotics and other things to support my comfort. The medical care itself was good, this review is totally focused on their post-care customer service. I have been trying for weeks now to get them to fill out a form that my insurance requires for reimbursement. I called, and was told to email them and it would be done that day. It wasn't done that day, I had to follow up several times, I was then told it would be done "ASAP", again, I saw nothing, so I emailed again - and was told that they submitted it...being skeptical I asked for a copy, and lo-and-behold, they've ghosted me. I am extremely upset at how hard this has been after they promised the insurance reimbursement would be easy. I am out $800 some dollars and no one will get back to me. read more

I had a football injury in the evening that required stitches. The doctor came to our location promptly, found a well-lit and clean area to stitch me up, and performed the procedure very well. I had no issues with the wound and found the care I received to easily be on par with what I would have received in an emergency room. They're not particularly cheap, but they were less expensive and more convenient than the ER, especially given that I am currently uninsured. read more

I called Chicago Express doctors last night after 2 days of head pain and not being able to keep anything down or move out of the bed. Dr. Rodriguez came in less than an hour even though the snow was pretty bad. He was very thorough, explained everything, very kind and got the iv in right away with the meds. I felt better right away. Luckily he left me medication which came in handy the next day and then I got a call from him checking up on me. This place was a total joke. First of all, the "office" is located in a condo building. The doorman gave me a card with a couple numbers, told me to call, leave a message as someone would be right down. I did so and waited and waited. The doorman even tried the doc's cell, but neither of us got an answer. I left at least 2 messages. Finally, after more than an hour, I just left. I had an allergic reaction and was really hoping to get some help, but guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow. Dr. Allen saved my life last night. I'm 9 weeks pregnant and diagnosed with severe hyperemesis gravidarum, plus had a sinus migraine to top it off. I could not keep any food or liquids down for 3 days and tried IV clinics, urgent care, my regular dr with no help. Then last night my husband called Express doctors bc he used them before in urgent situations when he was sick. Dr. Allen gave me injections to help with my nausea and sinus migraine. For the 1st time in 3 nights I actually slept. The next day I was able to eat and drink fluids. It was truly a miracle. I cannot thank him enough. This service was a godsend when I couldn't keep anything down for 12 hours on my birthday. The guy I spoke with on the phone was super nice and could tell I really didn't feel good. He explained to me how the service worked and was clear on pricing (which ended up being less than my hospital copay with insurance). Dr. Rodriguez came over in an hour and was able to administer an IV on the first try with fluids and nausea meds without me passing out (I'm severely needle phobic so this was huge). I felt better in 10 minutes and was able to go out for my birthday dinner with family later that night. Expedient, professional, personable. My back went out Weds. evening. I spent thurs sprawled on bathroom floor during Thanksgiving dinner. Slid myself to hallway and then to carpet in living room. My husband finally (and thankfully) had enough and called for a house call. My family has a history of bad back problems and my dad and I always rode them out with aleve and muscle relaxants. Dr. Allen arrived pinpointed the problem area and gave me four shots and let me with medicine with simple, foolproof instructions. Felt immediate relief. Was able to walk supported to a bed. Express Doctors are amazing. After returning home from a trip to Columbia, I fell fairly ill. I went to an urgent care, and that was a mistake. I ended up getting worse and called Chicago Express Doctors. I had a doctor in my home within 30 minutes. Not only did they treat my symptoms immediately, they left me medicine so that I would continue to feel better. They stayed with me until two bags of IV fluid was delivered and I was resting comfortably. I wish I had skipped going to urgent care. I would 100% recommend them to anyone! read more

UPDATE: I spoke to the billing office to clear up the miscommunication about the cost of the medicine. You can't expect the doctors to know the exact prices of the medicine because they are doctors! LOL. That's just like going to the emergency room and asking the doctor how much your pain medication is going to cost. I was having a terrible night dealing with a stuffy nose, nagging cough, and an extremely sore throat. I COULD NOT TAKE IT ANYMORE! On top of that, I had so many errands to run the next morning, including picking family up from the airport and getting ready for Easter. I called at 4:30 AM to schedule a 9:30 appointment. How convenient?! Dr. Allan was very nice and the visit took only about 30 minutes. He treated my strep throat and the symptoms cleared up almost immediately. He also had all of the medicine with him. Score! So no long wait at the emergency room or pharmacy visits for me. I highly recommend this service. Its a little expensive, but in my household, we don't mind spending money on convenience or health. The ONLY reason I did not give 5 stars is because the medicine ended up costing me WAY more than I was quoted. But I feel great. read more

Dr. Allen was very responsive and helpful. I was in a bad car accident and in a lot of pain that became progressively worse over 24 hours. He listened carefully when I was explaining my symptoms and took into consideration my sensitivities to certain medications when deciding a treatment plan best for me. I received 2 shots before he left to address the pain immediately rather than sending me to a pharmacy and an even longer wait. He was able to provide me my medications before leaving and even sent me a note for work within a few hours after recommending I take a few days to let my body heal. I felt very comfortable and trusting throughout the appointment and his bedside manner was better than most other physicians I've seen in other practices over the years. I can't say I'm feeling 100% better because I really did myself in good with the car accident but since the appointment a few hours ago I'm already starting to feel a bit more comfortable while I let my body and time do the rest of the healing. The operator on the phone seemed to be very impatient when I could not hear that well due to my ears and delayed responses from weighing out my options because of the pricing.
