Lozada's Quality Concrete delivers what they promise-- QUALITY. We recently bought a home in Fullerton's historic neighborhood just at the foot of golden hill. This meant that we needed to replace a badly damaged retaining wall that secured the different grade between our house and that of our neighbors. And answered all of our questions before starting. Building a retaining wall is no small cost and we wanted to make sure it was done well. As with other comments, poor communications, seemingly no initiative (important in business). The impression from comments on this Yelp forum is that block walls are not within this contractor's scope of capabilities. First, with a very scant description of the job (Slumpstone block wall, measurements...that's it) this contractor rattled off a general cost with no mention of scope of work, etc (current fence removal, footing, caps, pilasters, debris removal/job site cleanup, etc). Contractor then requested photos of potential job site; photos sent to his cell phone. Appointment was set for an estimate via text, with time and date confirmed by us. Over an hour after scheduled ("around" 9AM!) appointment, no-show. Called contractor, contractor replied that he had gotten busy with another job site clean-up due to weather. Understandable, however, not even a courtesy call...not understandable. Giving this contractor the benefit of the doubt regarding his skill set, it would appear his focus is on slabs, pavers, flat masonry substrates, not block walls (therefore the business name "Lozada's Quality Concrete" vs. Masonry in the title?). With this type of inattentive communication, potential block wall customers might be best served to qualify other contractors who DO have experience, credentials and references for block wall construction (Slumpstone, split-face and other similar decorative masonry for walls over 6-ft high, over 20-ft length, are very tricky to work with to ensure a straight, well-built and nicely-appearing finished product). read more

We had a issue were one of the members of my crew cut some concrete on a job site that was not supposed to. To make things right with our customer we offered to replace a 12 x 13 square of concrete in the driveway. Contacted this company to come out and pour/finish the concrete. The team was super great, quick, and efficient. The guys that showed up were not bumping music or swearing on the job site. As a business owner the people that I bring on my job sites matter because we are a highly reputable company. We had great experience with Lozada. Edgardo provided the estimate quickly for pavers and a retaining wall. He never tried to upsell, and revised the estimate as needed to our liking. The crew finished the job in a timely manner. They went above and beyond - they moved sprinklers as needed, put in some walking steps for us on our request, replaced hose bibs, did some cement work, etc. After completion, we had some issues with binding sand coming up from pavers and creating haze. Edgardo came quickly to review the problem, and fixed it by pressure washing and sealing the pavers. Our pavers look great now. I know Edgardo can be trusted to take care of any issues that might come up; he really cares about providing a great end result. Edgardo and his team are very dependable and trustworthy!! He came out to look at the project and we gave him a bucket list of items we wanted to be done to our backyard. He expanded a seating area, fixed our water feature, and added a gas fire-pit, and stained all of the area around the pool and side of the house. He sent in some of his senior crew to look at the scope and make sure it was doable also. We changed our mind a few times, but Edgardo was always patient and explained everything. We spent a lot of money (IMO) but he did so many things for us. I think value-wise he is excellent but craftsmanship and details to work, he went over and beyond!!! After being rejected (or overpriced) by several masonry contractors for having too "small" a job when I asked them to build a 7 ft. long by 6 ft. high stucco-covered block wall, I asked Lozada's Quality Concrete owner Edgardo Lozada for help, and he said, "Yes, no job is too small for us." Edgar and Hermy did a an incredible job of my driveway from start to finish. The job entailed tearing out 2500 sq feet of asphalt and replacing with 4 inches of concrete. Edgar gave a very fair estimate and was always upfront about costs. His uncle, Hermy is an expert craftsman with years of experience. He knew exactly where drains needed to be placed and graded it perfectly so water stayed off the driveway. This was a challenging job and these guys nailed it! We found Lozada's via Yelp after numerous other companies turned us down for a smaller project of fixing just a section of our driveway that has numerous slate tiles cracked and coming apart. Other companies have either minimum project cost or they do complete new driveways only. After we contacted Lozada's, Edgardo responded very quickly via text. Happy with the work these guys did. Timing, price, and professionalism. I had initially started bidding out contractors because I had water intrusion from the backyard into the garage. After some time, we ended up choosing LQC. We liked their price and timing to do the project. Along with locating the reason for water intrusion and repair, we got about 300 sqft of the backyard re-paved with new concrete and a couple of drainages added. Total project took about 3-4 days. We hired Lozada's team help us with a section of concrete path that had lifted due to tree roots. The first quoted us a complete repair but we didn't want spend that much money. Edgar and his team came out and did two jobs for us. The first was a smaller job that most companies declined to even respond after coming out to take measurements to prepare a bid. Edgar came and took measurements for both. I asked him to separate the bids with no commitment on the larger project and he still submitted timely bids which I really appreciated. He didn't complain or give me a sales pitch when I decided to move forward with the smaller job and said I needed more time to think over the second job. The second was a demo and re-pouring concrete our concrete driveway with decorative brick to match the design of old driveway. The price for both jobs were fair, reasonable and upfront as agreed. Edgar was very patient as we worked with the HOA for approvals and was extremely responsive via text or phone at all times (weekends included). He came with a good size crew and the process went very smoothly. There were a few broken sprinkler lines during the demo that Edgar repaired without cost which was greatly appreciated. He was also able to reasonably match the texture of existing concrete on the walkway to the front door and the finished product looked nearly the same as the original driveway with a few improvements. Very happy with work. Plus I received a number of compliments from neighbors that would stop and ask about it.
